One of the best parts of autumn is its beautiful colors. Normally green leaves turn red, orange, yellow, and finally brown. This is a 56 (nature) phenomenon. It is called “leaf phenology (叶片物候)”. However, because of 57 (change) climate, autumn is changing.
According to a study, the season length is 58 (grow), meaning that it is taking longer for leaves to change their colors. And this is not the only way that climate change is destroying the season.
“Trees are holding on to their leaves longer,” explained an expert. “In my own neighborhood, I feel 59 (curiosity) when I find that the leaves would drop a lot sooner 20 years ago 60 they do now.”
Climate change isn’t only causing 61 leaves to change later. We can also expect later frost (霜) according to Dr Michael. Michael said, “That means pests (害虫) will be active for a longer time in autumn, causing a greater health 62 (risky) to human beings.”
However, we may be able to avoid this 63 (develop). Michael said that 64 humans control their carbon dioxide emissions (二氧化碳排放), they can still stop the worst effects of climate change. “A new study has 65 (recent) shown that warming will likely stop after carbon emissions reach zero,” Michael said.

Chaka Salt Lake is a salt lake in Qinghai, China. Lying at an altitude of about 3,100 meters, it covers an area of about 105 square kilometers. It is rich in salt, with a heavy salt bed close to the lake surface. That makes the lake a main source (来源) of salt in our country. On a clear day, the lake offers the beautiful reflection (映像) of the blue sky. That is why people call it “Mirror of the Sky”.
Because of its wonderful views, people see the lake as one of the “must-go” places in China.
The beautiful sunrise and sunset views are the most attractive. Every July, large numbers of visitors begin to crowd into Chaka Salt Lake. And the situation usually lasts until the end of August. They just don’t want to miss the best time to go there. It is believed that with the summer breeze (微风), breathing in the salty air is especially good for health. If you want to go on a trip to the lake, the following tips may be helpful.
■ Do not eat the salt in the lake directly.
■ Wear sunglasses and a hat to protect you from the strong sunshine.

B.71.Dear Peter,
I’m glad to hear that you are coming to China. Would you like to visit Huizhou? Huizhou is one of the most popular cities in Guangdong. Let me tell you why it is so attractive.
Firstly, there are a lot of places of interest in Huizhou, such as West Lake, Luofu Mountain and so on. Each of them has its own beauty. Secondly, the weather is nice and the scenery is beautiful. You can choose to take a boat on the lake or relax in the mountains with fresh air around. Thirdly, the food is delicious. I strongly suggest you have a taste of the local Hakka dishes which are my favourite.
To get to Huizhou, you can take a high⁃speed train or a coach from Guangzhou or Shenzhen. Remember to wear a pair of comfortable shoes, because we may walk a lot.
I’m looking forward to your coming.
Love,
Li Ming
