he confronted the man with a bike's proof of ownership, the man pedaled off.Pavlik gave chase on

Q
As classical music adapts to the digital age,its cultural importance remains clear. The 2025
Beijing Forum for Symphonic Music highlighted the urgent need for innovation.Orchestras must
change not only their artistic expression but also how they connect with audiences. This ensures that
symphonic music will continue to thrive for future generations by embracing both its long history
and the transformations of a new era.
A central focus is attracting younger listeners.Data shows that a growing number of
concertgoers are now under 45,with many born after 1990 and 2000.To connect with this group,
orchestras are integrating music into digital worlds familiar to them, such as video games and
movies. For example, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra hosts concerts playing famous game
soundtracks, which have been very successful. This approach shows that young people are eager to
experience symphonic music in formats they feel connected to.
Orchestras are also adopting new formats and technologies. Some have introduced 60-minute
concerts to create shorter and more accessible experiences for modern attention spans.Artificial
intelligence is also changing the field.Al systems can now compose music quickly, and they can
help choose programs for concerts. While AI cannot replace a musician's personal feelings and skill,
it saves time, allowing musicians to focus on more thoughtful decisions.
Beyond technology, the future depends on training young musicians and engaging local
communities.Music schools aim to protect students'passion and creativity, preparing them for a
professional world.Meanwhile, orchestras are moving out of traditional concert halls. In Tianjin,
for instance, free outdoor performances bring music to the heart of the community.Similarly,a
festival in Switzerland holds concerts in school gyms and local barns, creating a relaxed and
welcoming atmosphere. These efforts make classical music more accessible and inviting, helping it

Paris is full of cultural significance.Yet,despite its wealth of cultural hotspots and
architectural delights, some tourists who explore the City of Light experience "Paris syndrome
黎综合征),a psychological condition that often results in nausea(恶心)and increased heart rates.
An interesting phenomenon is that Paris syndrome is "most common among Japanese tourists".
Why?
Many Japanese visitors go with a deeply romantic picture of Paris-the beauty of French
women, the high culture and art.But when the reality of the modern city of Paris sets in,with its
secmingly unfriendly service and confusing public transport, some tourists simply find their hope
falling through.
"An encounter with a Parisian waiter who shouts at customers might be laughed off by those
from other Western cultures. But for the Japanese-used to a society where politeness is valued
and voices are rarely raised in anger-the experience of their dream city turning into a nightmare

can simply be too much,"said Rodanthi Tzanelli,a professor of cultural sociology.
So Paris syndrome should be regarded as an extreme form of culture shock, which is an
illness resulting from the loss of meaning when people find themselves in a different symbolic
reality, according to Rachel Irwin,a senior researcher. The symptoms associated with culture shock
are similar to those experienced by someone who is feeling anxious.According to the analysis of
Calm Clinic,a mental health resource plattorm, when someone is experiencing anxiety, signals that
are related to the fight or flight response will be sent to the stomach. The signals change the way the
body processes food,causing nausea.
Besides,Tzanelli points out that the syndrome is not specific to Paris and nobody can be free
of culture shock as-long as-they-go-to-new places. The syndrome is likely a"general phenomenon",
as younger generations tend to travel to different countries, and are likely to be more aware of what
they'll encounter at a destination. Therefore, they're unlikely to be bitterly disappointed when
they're there.
32.Why do Japanese tourists experience great discomfort in Paris?
A.Paris lacks real historical and cultural hotspots.
B.Paris fails to meet their romantic expectations.
C.They find Paris'public transport less modern.
D.They cannot adapt to the local climate.
33.What does Rodanthi Tzanelli aim to explain in paragraph 3?
A.How culture influences the behavior of tourists.
B.How Japanese tourists react to Paris syndrome.
C.Why Paris syndrome particularly strikes the Japanese.
D.Why the Japanese value politeness and avoid conflicts
34.What conclusion about culture shock can be drawn from Rachel Irwin's words?
A.It can be seen everywhere
B.It leads to people's mental illness.
C.It damages people's sense of self-identity.
D.It's due to conflicts between different cultural contexts.
35.What will be the author's advicc on overcoming Paris syndrome?
A.To be prepared for new encounters in advance.
B.To focus on the positive aspects of a destination.

"Where are you staying in San Francisco?I will send the passport to you in person."After all,it

根据第一段中的“Pavlik took note of the bike's make,.model,,and markings,
confirming it was the one he was hunting.”
To take back the bike'”准确概括了这一意图。
根据第三段中的“As bike theft becomes more profitable,.grassroots efforts to
frustrate thieves are springing up nationwide.”
The rise in bike theft cases'"是对原文“bike theft becomes
根据第五段警方发言人的话“We do not support aggressive strategies that put
anyone in harm'sway.”
situations should be left to the police'”是对这一立场的合理推断。
A项Brave and skillful''准确概括了这两个特质。故选A。

Meanwhile,orchestras are moving out of traditional concert halls. In
Tianjin, for instance, free outdoor performances bring music to the heart of the community.Similarly,a
festival in Switzerland holds concerts in school gyms and local barns, creating a relaxed and
welcoming atmosphere. These efforts make classical music more accessible and inviting, helping it

The2025 Beijing Forum for Symphonic Music highlighted the urgent
need for innovation.Orchestras must change not only their artistic expression but also how they
connect with audiences. This ensures that symphonic music will continue to thrive for future

根据第三段中Rodanthi Tzanelli所说的话“An encounter with a Parisian waiter who
shouts at customers might be laughed off by those from other Western cultures. But for the Japanese
-used to a society where politeness is valued and voices are rarely raised in anger the experience
of their dream city turning into a nightmare can simply be too much(遇到对倾客大喊大叫的巴黎服

Rodanthi
根据第四段中Rachel Irwin所说的话“So Paris syndrome should be regarded as an
extreme form of culture shock, which is an illness resulting from the loss of meaning when people find

The syndrome is likely a“general phenomenon”,as younger

故选A
项。
