Going green seems to be popular for many people these days, but for my wife and me, it is just a healthy lifestyle.
On January 1st, 2018, we decided to be green every single day for the whole year. This meant doing 215 different things, and it also meant challenging ourselves to go green beyond the easy things. Rather than recycle and reduce our energy, we had to think of 215 different things to do and this was no easy task. With the idea of going green every single day a year, Our Green Year started. My wife and I decided to educate people about how they could go green in their lives and hoped we could show people all green things that could be done to help the environment. We wanted to push the message that every little bit helps.
Over the course of Our Green Year, we completely changed our lifestyles. Now our home is kept clean by lemon juice, with no chemical cleaners. We eat less meat, choosing green food. We have greatly reduced the unnecessary things we buy. We have given away half of what we owned through websites. We make our own butter so that we can enjoy the smell of home-made fresh bread. In our home office anyone caught doing something ungreen might be punished.
Our minds have been changed by Our Green Year. We are grateful for the chance to have been able to go green and educate others. We believe that we do have the power to change things and help our planet.

During its busiest period, the Silk Road allowed people from many different cultures and countries to meet each other and mix. The Silk Road allowed the sharing of valuable goods and new ideas. These included people and trading goods from the Mediterranean, Persian, Magyar, Armenian, Bactrian, Indian and Chinese areas. In one’s life, one spends the most time being with oneself! However, one has the least understanding of oneself. When you are successful, you may be very proud. But when you fail, you may lose heart. If you don’t get a better understanding of yourself, you may miss many chances and easily get into trouble.
To get a better understanding of yourself is to know about yourself well. You should realize your strong points and weak ones. You may hope for a wonderful future, but be sure not to expect too much because not all dreams can come true. You may be confident enough to meet challenges, but first you should know what to do.
Getting a better understanding of yourself needs self-appreciation Maybe you think you are a tall tree or just small grass, but you can always have your own way of being there. As soon as you get full confidence in yourself, you are sure to face any trouble.
To get a better understanding of yourself also means taking care of yourself. When you are angry, find a quiet place so that you can control your own temper and not hurt yourself. When you are sad, tell your friends about it to change the mood (情绪) into a good one. When you are tired, get a good sleep till you get relaxed. If you don’t know when and how you should look after yourself, you won’t be able to stay away from illnesses.
No one can tell what will happen in the future. Get a better understanding of yourself, and you’ll get a full control of yourself and find your life full of colors.

Our Family’s “Fitness Fun” Challenge
Bored with our sedentary routines, my family decided to start a “Fitness Fun” challenge. We downloaded an app that allowed us to track our daily steps and complete fun workout videos together.
The rules were simple: every day, we would all try to complete a 20-minute family workout and log our steps. My dad, usually a couch potato, surprisingly became the most enthusiastic, often challenging us to step contests. My mom turned the living room into our yoga studio. There were hilarious moments, like when our dog would try to join in the yoga sessions, or when my dad attempted dance fitness and created his own unique moves. We laughed, we sweated, and we encouraged each other.
After two months, the results were clear. We all felt more energetic and slept better. But the greatest gain wasn’t physical; it was the strengthened family bond. Those shared 20 minutes became a sacred time for us to connect, free from phones and work. The “Fitness Fun” challenge didn’t just get us moving; it brought us closer together, turning exercise from a chore into a cherished family activity.

1. —Do you like your English teacher?
—Sure, because she is the teacher ________ helps me a lot.
A. whose B. who C. whom D. which
根据答句“because she is the teacher…helps me a lot.”

A. gave up it B. gave them up C. picked up it D. picked it up

3. Mum asked me ________ the room at least twice a week.
A. clean B. cleaning C. cleaned D. to clean

C. when he came back D. when did he come back
【答案】A

A. has gone to B. has been to C. goes to D. go to
【答案】A

A. ours B. us C. our D. we

won’t不会;may not可能不;mustn’t禁止、不准;don’t have to不必,以may开头的一般疑问句,表示请求许可时,否定回答常用mustn’t,表示禁止。
10. —Lucy, could you please play the guitar at the art festival?
—________ I can only play the piano.
A. Yes, I can. B. Sure, I’d love to.
C. Not bad. D. I’m afraid I can’t.

根据文中“…because I was shy and found it hard to talk to new people.” 若用excited(兴奋的)则与后文理由相矛盾。

根据前文提到作者“was nervous”以及文中“…I was amazed by her positivity and intelligence.”
