Last Sunday, I went to the city library to borrow some books for my English review. On the way, the sky suddenly turned dark and it began to rain heavily. I had no umbrella with me, so I had to stand under a small shop’s roof and wait for the rain to stop.
After about ten minutes, the rain still didn’t stop. I was worried because I had to get home early to finish my homework. Just at that moment, an old man walked to me with a big umbrella. He looked kind and smiled at me. “Boy, it’s raining hard. Take this umbrella. You can go home safely,” he said.
I was surprised and refused at first. I didn’t know him at all. But the old man insisted and said, “Don’t worry about it. I live nearby. I just want to help you.” Finally, I thanked him and took the umbrella. When I turned around to ask his name, he had already walked away.
With the umbrella, I got home without getting wet. The next day, I went to the same place to return the umbrella, but the old man didn’t appear. I felt a little sad, but I also felt warm in my heart. Sanket Reddy has spent years in forests around the world taking photos of wildlife. While the animals have always interested him, the people who live alongside them have changed how he sees the world and himself. “Life lessons from those people have truly moved me,” he says.
From South India to Central America, Sanket has met communities that live in peace with nature. “They understand the value of every species (物种), no matter how small,” he says. “Even if you are just watching sparrows (麻雀), you might try to understand why they are doing what they are doing.” In our busy lives, we often fail to notice these small moments (瞬间). But to Sanket, they matter. Because noticing is the first step towards caring. And once you care, the protection of wildlife feels like a natural thing.
For Sanket, wildlife photography has never been about becoming famous. “I do it to add value to animals’ lives,” he says. “Don’t do it to get a few good pictures.”
Sanket shares the stories and moments that shaped him in his book View Finder. “I feel I need to pass on what I have learned from nature to the young people. They are the future,” he says.

C. To introduce protection areas. D. To spread what he learned to the young.
30. What can we infer according to the passage?
A. Sanket Reddy mainly takes photos of wild animals to become famous.
B. The people living with wildlife have taught Sanket to value every living species.
C. Sanket thinks that watching small animals is a waste of time.
D. Sanket’s book View Finder only tells stories about his trips to different forests.

What makes you fall asleep? The main cause is your body clock, a time-keeper inside your body that regulates your sleep-wake cycle. It works like an internal alarm, telling your body when to feel sleepy and when to wake up. But how to control and use your body clock to get better sleep? Scientists have suggested a simple and effective method: having a shower before bed. Jumping into the shower around an hour before bed could mean you sleep better and wake up feeling more refreshed.
A warm shower helps you relax both your body and mind, relieving the stress of the day. Then, after the shower warms your body up, your core body temperature gradually drops. This drop in temperature is a key signal (信号) for your body to fall asleep, encouraging you to fall asleep more quickly and sleep more soundly (酣畅地) throughout the night.
A study in 2019 further proved this point. It said that a water temperature of 40°C to 42.4°C produces the best-quality sleep. After people lie down, most of them take about 20 minutes to fall asleep. However, if you have a shower one to two hours before going to bed, you will fall asleep 10 minutes earlier, adding more precious (宝贵的) sleep time.
Core body temperature drops naturally before you sleep, then drops further during the night, and rises again as you wake up. It is thought that taking a warm shower will speed up the drop in temperature before bed, as it brings blood to the surface of the body, and then the heat is given off quickly, helping your body enter a sleep state faster.
31. What did scientists suggest people do before bed to sleep better?
A. Sleep an hour earlier. B. Jump into bed.
C. Have a warm shower. D. Set a time clock.
32. Which water temperature produces the best-quality sleep according to the study?
A. 44.2℃. B. 41.5℃. C. 36.4℃. D. 32.4℃.
33. In which part of a newspaper can you find the text?
A. Art. B. Weather. C. History. D. Health.
34. How much earlier can people fall asleep if they take a shower 1-2 hours before bed?
A. 10 minutes. B. 15 minutes. C. 20 minutes. D. 25 minutes.
35. What is the best title for the passage?
A. The Secret of Your Body Clock B. Why a Night Shower Improves Sleep
C. Changes of Your Body Temperature D. A Useful Study on Human Sleep

Nowadays, more and more teenagers are getting heavy. Obesity has become a common problem among middle school students. It not only influences our looks but also does harm to our health. So it’s important for us to solve this problem.
There are several main reasons for teenage obesity. First, many students enjoy eating junk food like hamburgers and potato chips. They often have sweet drinks and eat too much for meals. Second, some students spend too much time watching TV or playing on their phones. They hardly take any exercise after class. Third, a few students have irregular living habits and stay up late, which also makes them get fat easily.
To keep away from obesity, we should take action at once. First, we need to eat healthy food. We should eat more vegetables, fruit and fish, and drink more water instead of sweet drinks. It’s also necessary to eat three meals on time. Second, we must do more sports. We can run, play basketball or ride bikes for at least half an hour every day. Third, we should form good living habits. Go to bed early and get up early, and spend less time on electronic products.
In a word, keeping fit is not difficult. If we keep healthy eating and living habits, we will stay away from obesity and enjoy a happy life.

Ways to Go to School
Recently, we have made a survey about the ways our classmates go to school. Here are the results.
According to the pie chart, 40% of the students take buses to school. 30% ride bikes, and 25% walk. Only 5% go by boat. My favorite way is riding a bike. First, it is environmentally friendly. Riding a bike produces no air pollution, which helps protect the environment. Second, it is very convenient. I can avoid traffic jams and arrive at school on time. Third, it is cheap. Unlike taking a bus, bike riding costs nothing.
In short, riding a bike is a great choice. I hope more students can choose it.
