Besides its cityscape and rapid economic (经济) growth, the city is determined to show its social civilization (社会文明) to the Asia-Pacific region. Known as one of China’s most innovative cities, Shenzhen has retained the title of “National Civilized City” for seven years in a row. To ensure the success of APEC, the government has rolled out a series of special measures. These include improving public services, traffic flow, and beautifying the city. However, what truly distinguishes Shenzhen is its people. Tiny acts of kindness can be seen everywhere in the city. For example, free hand sanitizers (洗手液) and eco-friendly toilet paper are available in almost all public restrooms. At the community level, 24-hour "food banks" provide free meals for the homeless and the poor. Garbage sorting, a tough habit to change, has been widely accepted. Moreover, more than 10,000 volunteers have been trained to provide multilingual (多种语言的)services. They are ready to guide guests from all over the world, sharing stories of Shenzhen’s development and cultural charms. As a green city, Shenzhen has also put low-carbon concepts (低碳概念) into the APEC preparations. The use of new-energy vehicles and the promotion of paperless meetings are part of this effort. These measures show Shenzhen’s determination to build a sustainable future while hosting the international event. In conclusion, the 2026 APEC is much more than an economic meeting. It is a golden opportunity to display the city’s soft power. Shenzhen is not only strong in economy, but also friendly and civilized. Passage B 长江推行河湖长制、十年禁渔等举措使鱼类和江豚数量回升 (2026·吉林·一模)Have you heard of “the giant panda of the water”? It’s the Yangtze finless porpoise (长江江豚), a national first-class protected animal found only in the Yangtze River. Sadly, its population dropped from about 2,700 in the early 1990s to around 1,800 by 2006. One reason is the increase in boat traffic, which has led to more noise and pollution in the river, China Daily reported. To protect the river and its wildlife, the government has come up with some new ideas. One is the river and lake chief (主要的) system. Under this system, leaders at different levels are responsible for protecting rivers and lakes. “No illegal (非法的) pollution was found, and there are no clear moving objects on the river,” Ouyang Junnian who checks the river every day reported on May 16, 2023. Besides this routine task, the leaders also help deal with wastewater and protect riverbanks. Hunan Province has also set up the “12314” hotline so people can report problems, Hunan Daily said. Since Jan 1, 2021, a 10-year no fishing rule has also been carried out (执行). It stops people from fishing for money in the Yangtze River. In July 2024, for example, three people in Yuanjiang, Hunan, were fined (罚款) 9,900 yuan for illegally catching 40 kilograms of fish in a no-fishing area. This rule is important because too much fishing has left the Yangtze finless porpoises with less food and some of them have been caught in fishing nets. Thanks to these efforts, the number of Yangtze finless porpoises rose from 1,012 in 2017 to 1,249 in 2022. Other important animals, such as the Chinese sturgeon (中华鲟), are also coming back. From 2021 to 2024, scientists found 344 kinds of native fish in the Yangtze River, which is 36 more than the number found between 2017 and 2020, Xinhua said. 根据短文内容,选择最佳答案。 1.What is “the giant panda of the water” according to the passage? A.The Chinese sturgeon. B.The Yangtze finless porpoise. C.A kind of native fish in the Yangtze River. D.A national first-class protected bird. 2.Why did the population of Yangtze finless porpoises drop according to the first paragraph? A.Because of the waste in the river. B.Because of fishing by fishermen. C.Because of the increase in boat traffic. D.Because of the natural enemies. 3.What does the underlined word “routine” in Paragraph 3 probably mean? A.daily B.sudden C.special D.difficult 4.Why was the 10 — year no fishing rule carried out? A.To make the river a better place for boats. B.To allow people to catch more fish freely. C.To punish people who catch fish in wrong ways. D.To provide more food and protect the Yangtze finless porpoises. 5.Which is the best title for the passage? A.The Yangtze Finless Porpoise: A National Treasure B.Efforts to Protect the Yangtze River and Its Wildlife C.The 10 — Year No Fishing Rule in the Yangtze River D.The River and Lake Chief System in Hunan Passage C 吐鲁番的极端气候环境与坎儿井 (2026·山东潍坊·一模) You probably remember the Flaming Mountains from Journey to the West. But do you know where the real Flaming Mountains are? They are in Turpan (吐鲁番), in the east of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It’s known as one of the hottest areas in the world. The desert sand can be as hot as 80℃ in midsummer. That’s enough to make your feet burn! It may sound crazy, but the locals can cook an egg on the desert sand. Rainfall in Turpan is only 16 mm a year. It is one of the driest places in China. How do people survive in such a terrible climate? The secret lies in the ancient karez (坎儿井) system. The karez system, in Turpan includes more than 1,000 wells (井). They appear every 20-30 metres. Some of them are 100 metres deep! Under these wells are large underground canals (运河). Water from the mountains falls into the wells. It then runs underground in the canals. It is kept cool and safe from the desert heat. There are over 5,000 km of underground canals in the area. That’s nearly as long as the Yellow River! Thanks to the karez system, people can grow plants for food in this difficult environment. And amazingly, all of this was completed with only hand tools! No wonder it’s among the top three projects of ancient China. Today, the area faces a water shortage. There is less water from the mountains, lower rainfall and a large increase in water use. Although modern technology is solving some problems, the karez system still plays an important role. Now, more and more young people are taking action to protect it. The centuries-old water system will surely be carried into the future. 1.What does the writer mean by “That’s enough to make your feet burn!”? A.The sand is so hot that it may hurt your feet. B.You can’t walk on the hot sand without shoes. C.You should wear special shoes in Turpan to protect your feet. 2.Which of the following is TRUE about the underground canals? A.They carry water from the wells to the mountains. B.They were built with the help of modern technology. C.They keep water cool and protect it from the desert heat. 3.What can we learn from the last paragraph? A.Water shortage is no longer a problem. B.The karez system still matters nowadays. C.Modern technology will replace the karez system. 4.What’s the main idea of the passage? A.Turpan is one of the hottest and driest places in China. B.The karez system is an amazing ancient Chinese project. C.The karez system helps people survive in Turpan and is worth protecting. Passage D 垃圾焚烧发电与环保 (2026·浙江杭州·一模)Have you ever imagined a garbage burning factory does not have enough rubbish to burn? In some cities, this is becoming true. In the past, people made too much rubbish. Cities built waste-to-energy factories to burn rubbish and make electricity. But now, some factories get less daily household waste. They are becoming “hungry”. This is actually good news for us. Why does this happen? Because waste recycling works well today. People sort their rubbish carefully; kitchen waste can be made into fertilizer (肥料), while plastic, paper, glass and metal can be used again. There is less leftover rubbish to burn. Besides, people learn to cut down waste and reuse things in daily life. Even so, waste-to-energy factories are still useful. Here is how they work: * Arriving: Trucks put rubbish into a big storage area. A machine mixes it up. * Reacting: Then the rubbish goes into a hot oven with a temperature over 850°C. ▲ Heat causes a burning reaction here. Natural waste such as food, paper and wood reacts with oxygen (O2), breaking down to give off heat, carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapor (H2O). The high-pressure vapor makes a machine called a turbine (涡轮) run fast. The fast-moving turbine is connected to another machine to make electricity. * Cleaning the smoke: Before smoke goes into the air, cleaners make it clean. About 90% of the waste at the beginning is gone. The ash (灰) left can be used for building houses, and metal in the ash can be collected and recycled again. Good points: It cuts down waste greatly, saves ground space for rubbish, makes electricity and collects metal for reuse. Bad points: Burning rubbish still makes CO₂ gas. What’s more, people may think burning can solve all problems and forget to reduce and reuse waste first. Right recycling is the most useful way to protect our home. The future will be a greener world where no waste is left useless. 1.What can people do with kitchen waste according to the passage? A.It can be made into fertilizer. B.It can be sold for money. C.It can be kept in storage forever. D.It can be used to clean water. 2.Which sentence can be put into ▲ in Paragraph 6? A.This is where math is recorded! B.This is where chemistry happens! C.This is where physics takes control! D.This is where biology starts working! 3.Why are the good and bad points included in the passage? A.Because they show the writer’s personal feelings. B.Because they tell readers what to do immediately. C.Because they give a balanced and complete opinion. D.Because they make the passage longer and easier to read. 4.What is the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage? A.To warn people not to build rubbish-burning factories. B.To teach students how to sort kitchen waste at home. C.To explain how a turbine works to make electricity. D.To introduce garbage factories and ways to deal with waste. Passage E 湿地的类型及环保价值 (2026·安徽蚌埠·一模)If you search for places of beauty, wetlands probably won’t be high on your list. Wetlands are areas of land that are often completely wet with water. The roles that the wetlands play in nature might go beyond many people’s imagination. Wetlands appear naturally in almost every part of the world. There are many different types of wetlands on Earth. Along with rainforests, they are among the most diverse (多样的) places on Earth. Besides natural wetlands, humans are also creating man-made ones for a number of purposes about water management. One of the main advantages of wetlands is that they can prevent floods. They do so by storing water for a certain time and then slowly releasing (释放) it over time. Wetlands operate similarly to a sponge (海绵). When it rains heavily and water levels rise, they take in the extra water which may cause floods. Then, when water levels become low later, they will release it. In many cases, wetlands offer a much more natural way than dams (坝). However, it’s important to note that wetlands, like dams, don’t stop all dangers from flooding. Wetlands also play a part in cleaning water. Farming actions and city waste are main causes of water pollution. Wetlands include plants and organisms that can reduce this pollution. Wetlands have other advantages for the environment as well. They can help to feed nearby fish populations by releasing something that can be used as food for them into rivers. Also, many animals like frogs use wetlands as baby-raising grounds because they provide the place for catching food and the water required. Although wetlands may not look pretty, it’s clear that they are able to do the important work which is necessary to make sure that the circle of life remains unbroken. 1.What are wetlands according to the passage? A.Dry land with many rare plants. B.Land areas that are often fully covered with water. C.Man-made places for water management only. D.The most beautiful natural places in the world. 2.What does the underlined word “operate” probably mean in Paragraph 3? A.Look. B.Work. C.Change. D.Form. 3.Which of the following is NOT a way wetlands help the environment? A.Cleaning water by reducing pollution. B.Providing food and living places for animals. C.Feeding nearby fish populations indirectly. D.Stopping all the flood dangers completely. 4.We can infer from the passage that ________. A.wetlands are less diverse than rainforests B.man-made wetlands have no environmental value C.wetlands are important for keeping the food chain balanced D.most people know the great importance of wetlands well Passage F 海洋塑料污染难题及治理 (2026·江苏扬州·一模)Plastic pollution is a big problem for our oceans. Every year, millions of tons of plastic waste end up in the sea. In the water, plastic breaks into tiny pieces called microplastics. These tiny pieces hurt fish, seabirds, and other ocean animals. Scientists have found something surprising: many ocean bacteria (细菌) are learning to eat plastic. Researchers found a type of bacteria that could break down PET plastic—the kind used in water bottles. After that, scientists wanted to know if similar bacteria lived in the ocean. To find out, a team led by Dr. Carlos Duarte collected more than 400 ocean water samples from around the world. Using AI and genetic testing, the researchers looked for a special enzyme (酶) called PETase. This enzyme is like a tool that helps bacteria break down PET plastic. They found a special sign called the M5 motif that shows an enzyme can eat plastic. And the result was amazing: nearly 80% of the water samples had bacteria with this enzyme. These bacteria lived everywhere—from surface water with lots of plastic to the deep sea, two kilometers below the surface. Dr. Duarte explains: “In the ocean, where food is hard to find, microbes seem to have learned to use plastic as a new food source.” In other words, bacteria are treating our plastic waste as food. But there is bad news too. These bacteria break down plastic very slowly. They cannot clean up the plastic that is already in the ocean. “By the time plastics reach the deep sea, the harm to sea life has already been done,” says Dr. Duarte. Still, there is hope. The enzymes found in the deep sea give scientists new ideas. Researchers can study these enzymes and make them better in the lab. This could help us build better plastic recycling systems on land, and maybe one day even at home. Nature has started to fight back against plastic pollution. Now it is our turn to help. 1.Based on the passage, what can we most reasonably infer about the bacteria that can eat PET plastic? A.They evolved (进化) this ability after humans started putting plastic into the ocean. B.They will completely clean up all the plastic in the ocean within the next few years. C.They were created by scientists in a laboratory and then released into the ocean. D.They only live in surface water and cannot survive in the deep sea. 2.Which sentence should go in the empty box in paragraph 2? A.But nature may be fighting back. B.Therefore, humans must stop using plastic. C.However, bacteria cannot survive in the ocean. D.As a result, the problem is getting worse every day. 3.Which of the following best describes how the passage is organized? A.Enzyme definition → Past research → future trend B.Scientists’ findings → Bacteria’s action → Readers’ hope C.Problem → Experiment → Warning → Ways D.Problem → Discovery → Limitation →Hope 4.What is the author’s main purpose in writing this passage? A.To persuade readers to stop using plastic products immediately. B.To inform readers about a new scientific discovery and its possible uses. C.To describe how plastic pollution harms different sea animals. D.To teach readers how to recycle plastic at home. Passage G 塑料污染的危害及可持续发展 (25-26九年级上·江苏南通·期末)The theme of the 2025 World Environment Day is “Ending Plastic Pollution”. How does plastic pollution influence our Earth? Please look at the picture below. Scientists have found that plastic has reached almost every part of our planet! Even in places like the Arctic and the Sahara Desert, there are microplastic (微塑料) bits. They come from bigger plastic which breaks apart and ends up in oceans, soil and air. Microplastic bits can get into a human body in different ways. We breathe them in every day. According to a report by UN Environment Programme, about 60% of our clothes are made of unnatural materials. While washing these clothes, small plastic fibers (纤维) can be produced. Microplastic bits are also found in our food. Scientists estimate (估计) that there are about twenty-four trillion microplastic bits in the oceans around the world. The fish that we eat may have eaten them by accident. Many plastic packets we use in the daily life can release (释放) microplastic bits when they are heated. Even fruits and vegetables have microplastic bits, as plants can take them in from the soil through their roots. Studies show that apples and carrots have the most microplastic bits of all. Once microplastic bits enter a human body, they can hurt cells (细胞) and the endocrine (内分泌) system. They can also take in other harmful chemicals and help them enter our bodies, which might make us get sick more easily. To stop plastic pollution, everyone needs to live a sustainable (可持续的) lifestyle. It’s more than throwing plastic rubbish into bins and using less plastic. Individuals and governments should work together to make a difference. Luckily, many businesses in China have taken action to build a plastic-free society in China. To turn plastic rubbish into treasures, ... (to be continued) 1.What does the picture in the passage show? A.The cycle of plastic pollution. B.The cycle of water pollution. The government has started a “Welcome to Mongolia campaign (活动)”. It has added flights and simplified the visa process (简化签证过程). At least 437,000 foreign visitors came in the first seven months of 2024, up 25 per cent over the same period in 2023. That included increasing numbers from Europe, the USA and Japan. Visitors from the Republic of Korea nearly doubled. However, the government is still short of its goal of one million visitors per year from 2023 to 2026. “Mongolia has a population of over 3.4 million people. About half of them live in the capital, Ulaanbaatar (首都乌兰巴托). As a result, there is plenty of open space for adventure visitors to explore” said Egimaa Battsooj, who works for a tour company. The company offers adventures including horseback trips and camping trips with the possibility of staying in yurts (蒙古包), the traditional homes still used by Mongolia’s herders (牧民). There is little chance of running across private property (私人财产), so few places are off-limits. “You don’t need to open a gate. You don’t need to have permission (准许) from anyone,” Battsooj said, sitting in front of a map of Mongolia. “We are kind of like the last truly nomadic culture (游牧文化) on the whole planet.” Some local bands in Mongolia have developed fans all over the world, like The Hu, a band that mixes traditional Mongolian instruments and throat singing with modern rock. Mongolia tourism advertisements also attract people’s attention. They show beautiful frozen lakes in winter, the Northern Lights and events like reindeer sledding (驯鹿雪橇) and riding, camel racing and hiking. Passage J 三江源生态环境保护 (2026·江苏南京·一模)阅读下面短文,根据所读内容,在文章后的空格里填入最恰当的内容。 注意:1~8小题每个空格只填1个单词,9小题词数不限。 High on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau lies China’s “water tower” Sanjiangyuan—the source of three important rivers: the Yellow River, Yangtze River, and Lancang River. The three rivers provide water for about 50 percent of people in China. However, during the mid-20th century, the area of snow, grasslands and lakes in Sanjiangyuan were becoming smaller because of climate change and human activities. Many wild animals living in the area were facing extinction (灭绝). On Jan 24, 2003, China set up Sanjiangyuan National Nature Reserve to better protect the area and the wildlife there. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the setup of the reserve. The government is continuing to improve the environmental protection management system. That is why Sanjiangyuan National Nature Reserve has become part of Sanjiangyuan National Park, standing for the strictest protection measures. Local people have improved their understanding about environmental protection and lane tried hard to look after the environment in Sanjiangyuan over the years. In Nangqen County most people live on selling caterpillar fungus (虫草) they’ve found in grasslands. They used to carry food with them in plastic bags and left the bags behind. But now local people are regularly called on to pick up waste on the grasslands. People also take their food waste down the mountains. The grasslands have put on a new look. Social organizations have also worked hard to protect Sanjiangyuan. They are working on nature education. By taking teenagers to mountains and lakes, the organizations are trying their best to encourage young people to take part in their environmental protection activities. Thanks to these efforts, Sanjiangyuan is changing for the better. In these years, the population of wild animals has been rising. According to Xinhua, more than 70,000 Tibetan antelopes (羚羊) now live there. And more than 1000 snow leopards can be found in the area. It is now green, lively and peaceful. But Sanjiangyuan is still facing some difficulties. The biggest challenge now is the possible reduction of grasslands and melting frozen soil caused by global warming. So it is hoped that more people can join in the environmental protection of Sanjiangyuan and keeps improving its environment. Saving nature’s beauty—Sanjiangyuan Importance 1 the source of three important rivers, Sanjiangyuan is called China’s “water tower”. Problems The climate change and human activities 2 the area of snow, grasslands and lakes become smaller. Many wild animals were at the 3 of dying out. Efforts Sanjiangyuan National Nature Reserve was built to protect the area and the wildlife. Sanjiangyuan National Park, which 4 Sanjiangyuan National Reserve, has the strictest protection measures. Local people Local people understand the environmental protection better and have 5 together. Most people who sell caterpillar fungus for a 6 are willing to take waste down the mountains. 【答案】1.A 2.C 3.B 4.C 【导语】文章主要介绍了吐鲁番的极端气候环境以及当地人民如何依靠古老的坎儿井系统在如此恶劣的条件下生存。 1.文中第二段提到“The desert sand can be as hot as 80°C in midsummer. That’s enough to make your feet burn!”,这句话是强调沙子温度极高,足以灼伤脚部。选项A“沙子太热,可能会伤到你的脚”是对这句话的直接解释。 2.根据第三段“Water from the mountains falls into the wells. It then runs underground in the canals. It is kept cool and safe from the desert heat.”这说明地下运河的作用是保持水凉爽并保护其免受沙漠高温影响。 3.最后一段提到“Although modern technology is solving some problems, the karez system still plays an important role.”以及“more and more young people are taking action to protect it”,说明该系统至今仍具有重要价值。 4. 【答案】1.A 2.B 3.C 4.D 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了垃圾焚烧发电厂因垃圾分类和减量而面临垃圾不足的现状,同时解释了焚烧厂的工作原理及其优缺点。 1.第三段明确指出:“kitchen waste can be made into fertilizer”,说明厨余垃圾可以被制成肥料。 2.第五段空格后紧接着描述了“Heat causes a burning reaction here. Natural waste... reacts with oxygen... breaking down...”,这些描述涉及燃烧反应、物质分解和化学变化,因此“This is where chemistry happens!”(这是发生化学反应的地方!) Passage E 湿地的类型及环保价值 (2026·安徽蚌埠·一模)If you search for places of beauty, wetlands probably won’t be high on your list. A.wetlands are less diverse than rainforests B.man-made wetlands have no environmental value C.wetlands are important for keeping the food chain balanced D.most people know the great importance of wetlands well 【答案】1.B 2.B 3.D 4.C 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了湿地的定义、类型,以及湿地在防洪、净化水质、为动物提供食物和栖息地等方面对环境的重要作用,强调了湿地对维持生态平衡的重要性。 1.第一段指出定义:“Wetlands are areas of land that are often completely wet with water”,这直接说明湿地是经常完全被水覆盖的陆地区域。 2.第三段解释词义:结合上下文“they can prevent floods. They do so by storing water for a certain time and then slowly releasing it over time”可知,湿地通过储存水分再缓慢释放来防洪,类似海绵的作用,因此“operate”在此处表示“工作;发挥作用”,与“Work”含义相近。 3.第三、四段说明排除项:第三段提到“wetlands, like dams, don’t stop all dangers from flooding”,第四段提到湿地能“cleaning water by reducing pollution”“feed nearby fish populations by releasing something that can be used as food”“provide the place for catching food and the water required”,由此可知“完全阻止所有洪水危险”并非湿地对环境的帮助方式。 4.第四段推断结论:“they are able to do the important work which is necessary to make sure that the circle of life remains unbroken”,说明湿地能保障生命循环的完整,可推断出湿地对维持食物链平衡至关重要。 Passage F 海洋塑料污染难题及治理 (2026·江苏扬州·一模)Plastic pollution is a big problem for our oceans. 【答案】1.A 2.A 3.D 4.B 【导语】本文为说明文,本文先介绍海洋塑料污染难题,讲述海洋细菌可分解塑料的发现,点明局限并给出治理希望。 1.第一段交代现状:“Plastic pollution is a big problem for our oceans”,引出严峻的海洋塑料污染问题;第四段说明原因:“In the ocean, where food is hard to find, microbes seem to have learned to use plastic as a new food source”,表明海洋食物匮乏促使细菌进化出分解塑料的能力,由此可推出这类细菌是在塑料进入海洋后进化出该能力。 2.首段描述塑料污染危害海洋生物,第二段“Scientists have found something surprising...”引出细菌吞食塑料的意外发现,需要过渡句衔接危机与自然的应对,A项“But nature may be fighting back.” Passage G 塑料污染的危害及可持续发展 (25-26九年级上·江苏南通·期末)The theme of the 2025 World Environment Day is “Ending Plastic Pollution”. It gives you a necessary rest from daily work and school life, helping everyone to relax. What’s more, it makes family relationships closer by spending time together and making new memories. 1 First, think of a list of places based on your family’s special interests. Ask yourself and your family members: Do you like active hobbies like hiking and swimming, or do you prefer visiting historical cities? Common choices for families include sunny beaches, quiet lakes, high mountains, and exciting amusement parks. 2 Considering everyone’s opinion ensures (确保) that all family members look forward to the trip. Next, you must clearly know your budget (预算). The total cost includes transportation, accommodation, food, and entertainment fees, which can add up quickly. 3 For this reason, traveling within your own country becomes a more affordable choice than going abroad, allowing you to save money for special activities. 4 The time of your vacation influences both the cost and the enjoyment. Usually, the cheapest travel times are between major holidays, though these dates may conflict with school schedules. Traveling during off-peak seasons can also save a large amount of money. Also, try to avoid times when children have important exams to make sure they can relax completely. You must also consider school pressures and important school events. Furthermore, checking the calendar helps ensure children do not feel stressed about missed lessons. When you are ready to book, buy airline tickets about six to eight weeks ahead of time to get the best prices. It is helpful to compare prices on various travel websites. 5 Don’t forget to book hotels early and prepare the necessary documents like passports. Finally, keep your schedule flexible during the trip. Allow time for relaxation and fun, which makes the vacation truly memorable for everyone.
