Good morning, everyone! Growing up is not always easy.
Once, my best friend borrowed my guitar. But there was an ugly mark on the guitar when he returned it. I was upset, but he didn’t care. A misunderstanding built a wall between us. The silent days made me feel lost and lonely. However, I decided to break the ice. I wrote a warm letter to say sorry first. To my joy, she smiled and said sorry, too. Our friendship bloomed again. From this, I learned that communication is a bridge between hearts. True friends are like stars, lighting up our lives. Let’s understand each other and grow together!

Recently, Xie Zhaoyutong, a middle school student, has gained lots of attention online. The boy turned his bedroom into a “private museum”. People praise him for his knowledge of history and smart way of speaking, saying he is like a professor.
Named the “Yu Tang Museum”, his bedroom, just over ten square metres, is filled with old books, copper coins, and porcelain (瓷器). He spent almost all of his lucky money and pocket money on buying these items.
He said that at first, he loved the items for their appearances, but as he learned more about history, he realized that each item carries a special culture.
The only free space in the room is his bed. “This bed is for my body, while everything else is for my spirit,” he said. For him, arranging (布置) his room this way has another advantage: it reminds him to use his phone less.
Xie Zhaoyutong’s interest in reading began around the age of three or four, and a visit to a museum with his mother at six made him fall in love with cultural relics (文物) and history.
The boy believes learning history well helps with school subjects like Chinese and makes life more interesting. He doesn’t care about material comforts — he even wears old socks with holes! But he loves filling his mind with knowledge. “Having fewer things means more space for thinking,” he says. “Life without learning is boring.”
To Xie, reading an ancient book lets him understand what people thought thousands of years ago; touching a Han Dynasty brick allows him to imagine the lives of people who lived then. This kind of joy, he believes, is much better than fleeting online fun.

Have you ever noticed some songs start with a “one, two, three, four”? Musicians often count to make sure they all start the song at the same time.
________ Counting in music is actually a form of math, and music has a lot to do with numbers. Imagine you are learning to play the piano. Your teacher asks you to play one long note. That note lasts for a whole beat — kind of like the number 1 in math. Next, the teacher asks you to play two short notes. Each one lasts for half a beat, and together they make one whole beat (¹/₂ + ¹/₂ = 1). This is just like fractions (分数) in math. Playing music is like solving a small math problem with sounds!
Music and math are related, but can learning music actually help you with math? Scientists have found that students who play an instrument often do better on math tests than those who do not. But they aren’t exactly sure why. It could be because knowing music helps students understand math better. But it could also be that students who play an instrument go to schools that teach math very well. Or it could be that some students are naturally good at both math and music because they use similar parts of the brain.
It is clear that music is good for our brains, whether or not it makes us better at math. Playing music uses several parts of your brain at the same time. You need to use your eyes to read notes, your ears to hear sounds, and your hands to move quickly. Your brain has to put all this information together at once. It is like a workout for your brain!
61. Why do musicians count “one, two, three, four” at the start of a song?
A. To show their love for numbers.
B. To practice their math skills.
C. To make sure they begin at the same time.
D. To warm up their sweet voices.
62. Which of the following can be put in ★ ?
A. Music and math are connected in many ways.
B. Songs usually have different kinds of sounds.
C. Math is more difficult than music for many students.
D. Playing the piano is becoming more and more popular.
63. When playing music, which part of the body is NOT mentioned as being used?
A. B. C. D.
64. If you play three short notes, and each one lasts for one-fourth beat, how can you describe it in fractions?
A. ¼ + ¼ = ½ B. ½ + ½ = 1
C. ⅓ + ⅓ + ⅓= 1 D. ¼ + ¼ + ¼ = ¾
65. The passage mainly talks about ________.
A. how to become good at playing the piano
B. the relationship between music and math
C. why many students dislike math and music
D. different ways to solve math problems
