The Best Travelling Places in 2026
National Geographic’s annual Best of the World feature enjoys worldwide recognition. Here are some of its selected must-visit destinations for 2026.
Beijing, China
Beijing in 2026 offers travelers fresh ways to explore its rich ancient cultural charm as a capital. The Beijing Central Axis (中轴线) is a recent addition to UNESCO’s World Heritage List. At the Ming Tombs, all 13 complexes are gradually opening, including Emperor Chongzhen’s tomb. The Great Wall has emerged as the new star of Beijing’s nighttime economy. Visa-free entry is available for travelers from 47 countries for 30 days. Foreign credit cards are accepted on the subway, and apps offer English services for smoother exploration.
The Dolomites, Italy
All eyes will be on Italy for the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. Most events will be held in the Dolomites, which are known for their sculpture-shaped mountains — giant rocks, serrated (锯齿状的) mountain ridges, and sharp peaks. The legendary Alpine range sights from the lifts are breathtaking. Medieval villages and Ladin communities have preserved ancient customs for centuries. At award-winning restaurants, each dish combines innovation with local flavors.
Khiva, Uzbekistan
Khiva, an open-air-museum city with various festivals and events, gains popularity in 2026 with new high-speed trains from Tashkent, saving half the travel time. Visitors can explore the UNESCO World Heritage Itchan Kala, featuring restored geometric monuments and wooden palaces. The Silk Road-themed Arda Khiva Resort appeals to families with attractions for all ages, from a lively water park to a theater providing live shows.
Rabat, Morocco
Rabat combines ancient history with modern style. New additions include the neo-futuristic Royal Theater, inspired by the Bou Regreg River and the Morocco’s tallest rocket-shaped Tower. Don’t miss the flagship Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, where works are deeply rooted in modern Moroccan and African art. Book lovers will also find pleasure here, as UNESCO has named Rabat the 2026 World Book Capital.

Passage 3
(2026·辽宁鞍山·二模)
Tradition and unpredictability crash in the sporting event. One moment, a judge is carefully debating the artistic execution of a figure skating routine, the next, an athlete is sliding face-first down an ice track at speeds that would earn them a traffic ticket. This year’s Olympic Winter Games aren’t chasing reinvention; they’re making smart additions.
SKI MOUNTAINEERING
Ski mountaineering makes its Winter Olympic debut (首次露面) in 2026 with a men’s sprint (速滑), women’s sprint, and a mixed-gender relay variation. This is skiing in its rawest form. Athletes climb uphill with skins on their skis, continue to hike with their skis on their backs, transition their equipment mid-race, and then ski back down as fast as their legs allow.
SKELETON — MIXED TEAM RELAY
Skeleton racing (钢架雪车) sees athletes sliding down an ice track face-first on a steerable sled. This event brings the high speeds. Each team consists of a male and a female athlete, with their times added together. Consistency, cooperation, and clean runs are key when it comes to skeleton racing.
ALPINE SKIING — TEAM COMBINED
The Alpine combined event is also getting an update in 2026. Two teammates will split the duties. One will tackle the downhill, and the other, the slalom, shredding side-to-side as they navigate numerous poles. One brings the speed, one brings the style, and the clock settles the argument. This event will reward teamwork for the first time in the history of the Olympics.
LUGE — WOMEN’S DOUBLES
Luge (雪橇) doubles has always been a study of trust and timing. This year, women’s doubles adds competitive balance to a sport where the difference between gold and going home without a medal is literally measured in thousandths of a second. The luge is similar to the skeleton in that both involve sliding, but the luge is feet-forward instead of face-forward, and competitors often reach higher speeds.
7.What is the essential element of skeleton racing?
A.High-speed. B.Relay race. C.Steerable sled. D.Smooth runs.
8.Which event highlights teamwork reward?
A.The Alpine. B.Luge doubles. C.Skeleton racing. D.Ski mountaineering.
9.What makes luge distinct from skeleton?
A.The skiing state. B.The sliding posture.
C.The virtue of trust. D.The speed measurement.

8.细节理解题。根据ALPINE SKIING — TEAM COMBINED部分“This event will reward teamwork for the first time in the history of the Olympics.(这一项目将在奥运会历史上首次奖励团队合作。)”可知,高山滑雪团体混合赛是奥运史上首次奖励团队合作的项目。故选A。
9.细节理解题。根据最后一段“The luge is similar to the skeleton in that both involve sliding, but the luge is feet-forward instead of face-forward, and competitors often reach higher speeds.(雪橇与钢架雪车相似,因为两者都涉及滑行,但雪橇是脚向前而不是脸向前,而且参赛者通常能达到更高的速度。)”可知,使雪橇与钢架雪车不同的是滑行姿势。故选B。

Passage 5
(2026·黑龙江·二模)
Britain is a land of stunning landscapes and rich heritage — from the Lake District’s peaks and lakes to iconic bridges, from lakeside poets’ romance to Shakespeare’s genius and the Enlightenment’s (启蒙运动) glow. In this series, we spotlight four renowned landmarks to uncover their stories.
The Lake District
The Lake District is England’s largest National Park. Stretching across the North-West, it’s home to the nation’s highest mountains and deepest lakes. This district is very famous for its food. There are seven Michelin-Starred restaurants. Besides, cosy, traditional and hearty pubs are plentiful in the popular towns. The romance and charm of the lakes have inspired many lake poets in their creativity.
The Roman Baths
The Roman Baths are one of the finest examples of preserved ancient thermal spa in the world, and the only official hot spring in Britain. During the Roman Invasion in 50 CE, they dedicated the spring to a healing goddess. Rich or poor, they thought this spring would rid their illness and disease, believing it to be blessed by the Goddesses.
Westminster Palace and Big Ben
The most iconic architectural structures of not only London but the whole of the UK are Westminster Palace and Big Ben. It was originally built as a royal palace about 1000 years ago. During Henry VIII’s reign, he gave it over to parliament. Big Ben has enormous cultural significance for Britain. Its clock rings are broadcast on television every New Year’s Eve to count down and welcome the New Year.
Stonehenge
Stonehenge is the most famous prehistoric monument. It was built 5000 years ago as a ditch and now surrounds the stones. In the 1960s, an astronomer theorized that it might be a calendar since you could see the perfect view of the summer sunrise hitting the stones. People will not fully understand it until bathed in its remarkable mystery.
13.What can visitors do during the tour?
A.Enjoy a drink in the Lake District. B.Listen to the church bells on Christmas day.
C.Get rid of diseases in the Roman Baths. D.Uncover all the mysteries behind Stonehenge.
14.Which landmark is recommended for astronomy fans?

Passage 10
(2026·云南·二诊)
Hollywood is finally on a roll. The first six weeks of 2026 were the film industry’s best start. Here are 4 movies we’re looking forward to this spring.
Hoppers
In theaters March 6
Scientists have invented a way to “hop” human minds into lifelike animal robots in Pixar’s latest adventure. Mabel, an animal-loving teen, uses this new tech to control a robot beaver, and quicker than you can say Avatar meets Mission Impossible, she’s leading local animals in stopping a construction company’s plan to destroy their habitat.
Project Hail Mary
In theaters March 20
Ryan Gosling plays a middle school teacher who may be the world’s only hope when the sun and most of the galaxy’s nearby stars start to dim. He resists being packed onto a spaceship and sent to the one nearby star that’s unaffected by the dimming, but his enthusiasm for the mission surges when encountering an alien life form. Based on the novel The Martian by Andy Weir, this story is about a lengthy and dangerous space flight that lightens suspense with humor.
Michael
In theaters April 24
Antoine Fuqua directs this biographical film about the rise and rise of Michael Jackson, from lead singer of The Jackson Five to superstar status as The Gloved One. Stepping into Jackson’s shoes — and probably moonwalking — is the King of Pop’s lookalike and soundalike nephew, Jaafar Jackson, while Colman Domingo plays his father Joe.
The Devil Wears Prada 2
In theaters May 1
Meryl Streep’s Miranda is still Runway magazine’s Queen Bee, and Stanley Tucci (Nigel), Anne Hathaway (Andy) and Emily Blunt (Emily) are still buzzing around her, though with an altered media landscape, the power dynamics have shifted. Passage 12
(2026·内蒙古乌兰察布·二模)
Technology Is Transforming Travel
Thirty years ago, the world of travel was a simpler place where there were no online travel agents or seat-back inflight entertainment. But in the decades since, innovations in technology have completely transformed travel. Here are some impacts of travel tech.
Advantages
Boosting travel efficiency48% of European travellers have used AI-powered tools to plan a trip, according to market research firm MMGY Travel Intelligence, while behind the scenes they are used by airlines to manage customer service and hotels to determine room prices.
Expanding travel experiencesVirtual reality (VR) allows travellers to ‘try before they buy’, using headsets that enable them to see and interact with a digitalized version of the real experience. It’s expected that 70% of travellers will use VR or a virtual tour to explore a destination ahead of their visit.
Making travel more inclusiveWayfinding apps are used to provide 3D maps of major public spaces like stations. Supported by audio, they help travellers with visual or hearing impairments (损伤), limited mobility or simply those who may feel uneasy traveling in an unfamiliar environment.
Technology has changed travel for the better, but it’s important to note that there’s a negative side to the equation, too. Here are some examples.
Disadvantages
There are numerous instances of remote spots flooded by visitors after going viral (走红) on social media, like Trolltunga in Norway.
Because people are more focused on capturing their travel experiences for social media, they’re less engaged with the real experience of travelling — talking to locals, for example, or learning more about where they’re visiting.
Technology has improved greatly in the last few decades, but what’s next? “In the next year, we’ll see algorithms (算法) that predict your trip needs before you do,” says Jenny Southan, founder of trend forecasting company Globetrender. “In five years, travel tech and AI will emerge into virtual assistants: Journeys will feel continuous and invisible.”
34.Who may benefit most from wayfinding apps according to the text?
A.Social media lovers. B.Budget travelers.
C.People with disabilities. D.Adventure seekers.
35.What is a negative effect of social media on travel?
A.The risk of overtourism. B.Severe air pollution.
C.Much social interaction. D.Overdependence on tech.
36.What will be possible soon in travel tech in Southan’s opinion?
A.Lower efficiency. B.Smarter personalization.
C.Less virtual reality. D.Uncontrollable virtual assistants.
【答案】34.C 35.A 36.B

根据Disadvantages部分“There are numerous instances of remote spots flooded by visitors after going viral (走红) on social media, like Trolltunga in Norway. (有很多这样的例子,偏远景点在社交媒体上走红后,游客蜂拥而至,比如挪威的巨魔之舌)”可知,社交媒体对旅游的负面影响是过度旅游的风险。故选A项。
36.细节理解题。根据最后一段““In the next year, we’ll see algorithms (算法) that predict your trip needs before you do,” says Jenny Southan, founder of trend forecasting company Globetrender. “In five years, travel tech and AI will emerge into virtual assistants: Journeys will feel continuous and invisible.”(趋势预测公司Globetrender的创始人珍妮·索森说:“明年,我们将看到能在你之前预测你的旅行需求的算法。”“五年后,旅游科技和人工智能将演变成虚拟助手:旅行将变得连续且无形。”)”可知,在索森看来,旅游科技很快就能实现更智能的个性化。故选B项。

Passage 3
(2026·陕西·二模)
If you’re concerned about the cost of gas and the environmental impact of gas-powered cars, and don’t want to worry about the charging challenges associated with the pure electric vehicle (EV), it’s time to take a closer look at a hybrid (混合的) electric vehicle (HEV). While salespeople might simply advise you to “plug in daily and use gas for longer trips,” understanding the underlying mechanics is key to determining if an HEV truly fits your needs. Essentially, an HEV offers you the best of gas cars and EVs.
An HEV has two sources of power: an internal combustion (燃烧) engine (ICE) and at least one electric motor. There are two main types of HEV: parallel (并联式) hybrid and series hybrid.
The parallel hybrid (PHEV) aims to keep the core designs of the conventional gas-powered vehicles while lowering the operation costs and improving the environmental performance. Reduced to its basics, its system uses ICE and electric motors to power the wheels — either together or independently. This structure performs reliably on long-distance journeys and complex road conditions, where the combustion engine operates efficiently.
In the case of series hybrid (SHEV), the vehicle runs only on electricity, which is from the battery. When the battery is exhausted, the ICE switches on — not to drive the wheels directly, but to power the generator and charge the battery. This setup offers smoother and quieter driving operation which is similar to pure electric vehicles. It’s generally more eco-friendly, and further reduces the cost of use.
In today’s market, conventional gas cars are going significantly cheaper, while stylish pure electric vehicles have become symbols of modern status. The HEV, striking a practical balance between these two extremes, certainly deserves a closer look.

The true heartbeat of China’s civilization often lies in intangible cultural heritage — skills, arts, and traditions passed down through generations. These practices are not just historical relics; they are living, breathing elements of modern Chinese culture.
Kesi Silk Tapestry
Often termed “silk carving,” Kesi is an ancient silk weaving technique noted for creating complex, picture-like tapestries (挂毯). Its uniqueness lies in the fact that patterns appear identical on both sides, with no visible backing thread. This art form, which reached its peak in the Song Dynasty, reflects incomparable patience and elegance.
Inkstick Craftsmanship in Huizhou
The famous “Hui Ink” from Anhui Province is central to Chinese calligraphy and painting. Made primarily from pine ash and glue, the mixture is pounded thousands of times, molded (定模), and then slowly dried. Master ink-makers can include delicate designs and even gold flakes into the ink sticks. The resulting ink represents the deep connection between material art and scholarly pursuit.
Nanjing Yunjin (Cloud-pattern Brocade)
As one of China’s most luxurious traditional fabrics, Nanjing Yunjin boasts a history of over 1,600 years. Woven on large wooden looms (纺织机) operated by two artisans, the brocade is characterized by its bright colors, diverse patterns, and the use of gold and silver threads. Historically reserved for emperors, its craftsmanship mixes technical complexity with a sense of beauty.
Traditional Chinese Roof Tile (瓦片) Making
Most ancient Chinese buildings are topped with clay tiles. Artisans shape local clay by hand or with wooden molds, dry them slowly, and fire them in kilns (窑). Shiny-coated tiles in royal yellow or green require precise control of temperature and minerals. These tiles and their decorative end-pieces are symbolic guardians against fire and evil, showcasing the harmony between practical function and cultural belief.
1.What is special about Kesi silk tapestries?
A.The complexity of processing.
B.The same patterns on both sides.
C.The use of gold and silver threads.
D.The duration of pounding process.
2.Which of the following has a link to royal clothing history?
A.Kesi Silk Tapestry. B.Hui Ink Making.
C.Nanjing Yunjin Brocade. D.Roof Tile Making.

Carving the Hakka (客家) legacy
In Jiangxi’s Huichang Hakka villages, bian’e — exquisitely carved wooden door plaques (牌匾) with 2 — 4 characters — carry family mottos, history, and values. Brought south by northern migrants in the Song Dynasty, they represent Hakka migration, scholarship, and morality. Passage 6
(2026·山西太原·二模)
Gardening for Children: Joys They Love and Futures We Build
Gardening has become increasingly popular among children in the UK. A survey conducted by You Gov and the RHS gathered responses from 1,200 children, 80% of whom had gardening experience and harvested joy from it for multiple reasons, as is shown in the chart.
Gardens contribute to children’s growth as a powerful way to connect with grandparents, parents and carers, who pass on knowledge, stories and a love of growing. Gardens are also living classrooms. From understanding how plants thrive to discovering the insets and wildlife that share our spaces, gardening offers hands-on learning that supports both well being and environmental awareness. In the follow-up interview with the children surveyed about their dream gardens, many frequently listed hideouts like treehouses, secret corners and blanket tents. These are among the top desirable garden components for young minds. Such a feature turns a simple space into a magical world where kids can play, explore, and enjoy their own time.
Gardens, however, face severe challenges: biodiversity is threatened, public biosecurity awareness is insufficient, and many households have no equal access to gardens. Fortunately, community and school gardens are developing well. Gardeners are adopting sustainable methods, while cross-sector cooperation and technology are promoting environmental horticulture (园艺学). To fully realize gardens’ value, four key priorities must be emphasized in the future.
Recognition
Gardens should be integrated into policies concerning health, education, climate and biodiversity, with environmental horticulture valued as an essential green skill.
Collaboration
Partnerships across government, industry, communities and individuals help build lasting garden programs, expand successful models, and make gardens shared assets.
GARDENS’FUTURE
Investment
More investment in training, infrastructure (基础设施) and research is required to make sure of the garden sector’s long-term and future development.
Access
Gardening should be guaranteed for all people in various private and public spaces, from homes and schools to hospitals and community settings.
16. How many surveyed children enjoy gardening for its environmental benefit?
A. 288. B. 384. C. 480. D. 960.
17. What is the feature of children’s dream garden?
A. Family connections. B. Private play areas. C. Wildlife protection. D. Botanical knowledge.
18. What does the author suggest regarding gardens’ future?
A. Relying on government’s support.
B. Raising funds to expand private gardens.
C. Making laws about climate change.
D. Ensuring convenient access for the public.
【答案】 16. B 17. B 18. D

Passage 1
(2026·辽宁大连·二检)

Free Mind Mapping Tools for Students
The following are the most popular free mind mapping tools which are easy to use, allow collaboration with other students, and have many features that make assignments, organization and planning much more efficient.
Xmind
This is an open source tool with some unique features. You can export any map in other formats — PDF, TXT, JPEG, etc. It has tree, logic and fishbone charts, for personal preference and depending upon your project. The basic account is free but, as you add features, the price can go up to $80.
Mindmeister
This tool is online, so that it can be accessed from anywhere and with any device. You can use it solo or collaborate with other students if you are involved in a group project. The live chat feature makes it even more attractive.
Bubbl.us
This is one of the simplest mind mapping tools to be found. Once you type your main idea or topic, the tree begins. You may then type in “sub-level” terms, and they are automatically placed. You can then move the bubbles around. There is also an auto-save feature and, because it is online, you can collaborate with others. The disadvantage of this app is that you cannot add images, links, or files unless you purchase the high-end version.
MindMap
This tool can be used locally or in the cloud and allows the printing and exporting of completed maps. The other great feature is that you can add text, images, links, etc. and customize (定制) color so that subtopics are easily recognizable.

Croatia
Croatia has a complex history and a diverse culinary scene. Inland areas are mainly influenced by central European food, featuring meats, cheeses and noodles. Istria, a bilingual region bordering Italy and Slovenia, is famous for its local food like seafood, olive oil, truffles and prosciutto, which go well with the wine (including some strong spirits) that Istria produces as well.

Passage 1
(2026·重庆·二诊)
Dear Citizens,
Plastics are produced from natural materials like oil and plant minerals, yet the resulting material is entirely unnatural. This non-biodegradable substance has spread to every corner of the globe — from the deep sea to the Antarctic, and even into our bodies.
Every piece of plastic ever made survives in some form, with most eventually breaking down into microplastics: fragments (碎片) smaller than 5 millimeters, invisible to the unaided eye. Scientists estimate that the upper oceans alone contain 24.4 trillion small microplastic pieces.
Microplastics are divided into primary and secondary. Primary microplastics are intentionally produced in tiny form, while secondary microplastics result from the environmental breakdown of larger plastic items. The main types include: Types of microplastics
1 Fibers
These thin, thread-like (丝状的) plastics come from clothing and cigarette ends. One of the main ways these fibers enter lakes is through washing machines.
2 Microbeads
These tiny plastic balls are often added to personal care products but are difficult to remove from wastewater due to their small size.
3 Fragments
When a larger piece of plastic breaks down due to sunlight and weathering, it becomes smaller microplastic fragments.
4 Nurdles (小球)
Small plastic pieces produced to make larger products, escape into lakes and oceans during transportation.
5 Foam
Used as packing protection in delivery boxes, this soft product can be broken down easily into microplastics.
How long do common plastic items take to break down?
Plastic bags
Cigarette ends
Coffee cups
Bottles
Toothbrushes
Fishing lines
Can holders
Straws
20 years
5 years
30 years
450 years
500 years
600 years
400 years
200 years
We therefore urge everyone to:
1. Reduce the use of single-use plastics.
2. Choose clothing made from natural fibers.
3. Participate in plastic waste sorting and recycling.
4. Select personal care products without microbeads.
Protecting our planet begins with conscious daily choices.
Green Living Advocacy Committee
February 14, 2026
1.What is the main purpose of this initiative?
A.To explain how microplastics are grouped.
B.To promote efforts to reduce microplastics.
C.To analyze how microplastics degrade in nature.
D.To identify major sources of microplastics.
2.Which of the following are primary microplastics?
A.1,2 and 4. B.2 and 4. C.1,3 and 5. D.1 and 3.
3.Which plastic item takes the longest time to break down?
A.Plastic bags. B.Bottles. C.Toothbrushes. D.Fishing lines.
Passage 2
(2026·陕西西安·二模)
How Cities Can Fight Climate Change
Global temperatures are on the rise. To avoid disaster, experts urge restricting temperature rise to 1.5 degrees, which would mean cutting greenhouse gas emissions (排放), by 2050, to net zero — carbon emissions and carbon absorption are balanced.
Cities are responsible for 71 percent to 76 percent of global carbon dioxide emissions due to buildings, transportation, heating, cooling and more.
The difficulties faced by cities in reducing emissions lie mainly in insufficient funding, policy issues, etc. But more than 800 cities around the world, from Mumbai to Denver, have promised to halve their carbon emissions by 2030 and to reach net zero by 2050.
Many overall strategies for decarbonizing (脱碳) cities require behavior change from citizens and public and private sectors.
Cities striving to deeply decarbonize and reach for net zero will have to adopt three broad strategies at the same time, scholars say. They must reduce demand for energy and switch to green energy supplies. Besides, they need to design ways (such as tree-planting) to take up carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
Urban areas play a vital role in climate change mitigation (缓解). Joint efforts from the government, companies, and individuals are available.
Well, what measures have been taken in your city to reduce emissions?
4.What do experts suggest regarding global warming according to paragraph 1?
A.Restricting imports and exports. B.Developing new materials and energy.
C.Reducing carbon emissions. D.Advocating the waste classification.
5.Which of the following is consistent with the decarbonizing strategies?
A.Expanding urban areas. B.Banning the use of fossil fuels.
C.Boosting urban industries. D.Reducing energy demand.
6.What can individuals do for cities to achieve net-zero emissions?
A.Join in tree-planting activities. B.Settle policy issues.
C.Use only private cars. D.Invest in renewable projects.
