I thought I might find it with my downstairs neighbors, a grad-student couple with an army of cats. Maybe with my friends from high school, though we had drifted apart over the years. Maybe back at the community theater, where I’d just tried out for a play and felt easy with the assistant director, a woman my age who I could imagine becoming a friend. And while all those connections have become dear to me since, none of them hold a candle to the bond I found in my then-56-year-old castmate, who brought his own objects to rehearsal and made references I didn’t understand. When I met Ken, I initially found him bold but kind. He’d make a joke, then immediately look me in the eye and apologize, visibly embarrassed by his own words, as if he couldn’t believe he’d said something inappropriate in front of me. I’d sniff and then he’d look shocked for a different reason. It felt like we were, in real time, discovering that the gaps of difference between us actually had islands of common ground. There are certain threads that tie us together in ways we didn’t expect. At first, they just seemed superficial, like our love for horror movies and dark Irish comedy. But we both remember the first time we were truly vulnerable with each other as the real start to our friendship. Now I’m 28 and Ken is 60, and our connection has grown into something I couldn’t replace because we took a chance on each other, a choice that research increasingly suggests people across generations would benefit from making. Friendships like ours might look unusual, but they are seriously good for your health. According to a 2023 study published in The Journal of Aging Studies, there are cognitive, physical and psychosocial benefits for younger and older adults who regularly interact across generational lines. 24. How did the author feel when she first returned to her hometown? A. Somewhat distant from her high school friends. B. Expecting to find community with her neighbors. C. Unlikely to form an intergenerational friendship. D. Uncertain about where to find a sense of community. 25. What contributed to the actual start of the author and Ken’s friendship? A. Their similar taste in movies. B. Their being open and vulnerable. C. Their easy talk in the theater. D. Their shared funny experiences. 26. What will the author most probably discuss next? A. Details of the 2023 study. B. More shared hobbies with Ken. C. Reasons for making older friends. D. Other stories of cross-age friendships. 27. Why did the author write the text? A. To share her newfound friendship with Ken. B. To encourage people to make elderly friends. C. To show benefits of crossing age in friendship. D. To introduce advantages of close friendships. C 25. B 26. A 27. 根据第一段“When I was 24, newly relocated back to my hometown and searching for a sense of community, an intergenerational friendship wasn’t where I expected to find connection.(在我24岁那年,刚回到家乡重新安顿下来,渴望寻找一种归属感时,我原本没想到能从跨代朋友关系中找到联系)”可知,作者回到家乡寻找归属感时,并未预料到会通过一段跨代友谊找到联结,即她最初认为自己不太可能形成跨代友谊。 根据第四段“But we both remember the first time we were truly vulnerable with each other as the real start to our friendship.(但我们都记得,那是在我们第一次真正毫无保留地袒露自己内心的时候,这便是我们友谊的真正开端)”可知,两人都认为第一次彼此真正袒露脆弱的时刻是他们友谊的真正开端。 根据最后一段“According to a 2023 study published in The Journal of Aging Studies, there are cognitive, physical and psychosocial benefits for younger and older adults who regularly interact across generational lines.(根据2023年发表在《老龄化研究杂志》上的一项研究,对于经常跨越代际进行交流的年轻和年长人士而言,会带来认知、身体和心理社会方面的诸多益处)”可知,文章结尾引用了2023年的一项研究,指出跨代互动对年轻人和老年人有多方面的益处。 根据最后一段“Now I’m 28 and Ken is 60, and our connection has grown into something I couldn’t replace because we took a chance on each other, a choice that research increasingly suggests people across generations would benefit from making. Friendships like ours might look unusual, but they are seriously good for your health. According to a 2023 study published in The Journal of Aging Studies, there are cognitive, physical and psychosocial benefits for younger and older adults who regularly interact across generational lines.(如今我28岁,而肯60岁了,我们的关系已经发展到了无法替代的地步,因为我们彼此敞开了心扉,做出了选择,而越来越多的研究表明,这种跨代的选择对人们来说是有益的。像我们这样的友谊或许看起来不太寻常,但它们对你的健康确实大有裨益。根据2023年发表在《老龄化研究杂志》上的一项研究,对于经常跨越代际进行交流的年轻和年长人士而言,会带来认知、身体和心理社会方面的诸多益处)”可知,作者旨在展示年龄差异在友谊中所具有的积极影响。 C Everyone has a book inside them, or so the saying goes. In this day and age, those who want help mapping the story out can receive instructions online from some of the world’s most popular authors. And now Agatha Christie, the world’s bestselling writer of fiction, with more than 2 billion copies sold, is instructing viewers in the art of the whodunnit (侦探小说) — even though she died in 1976. Christie’s course is the result not of recently unearthed video footage, but artificial intelligence. BBC Maestro, an online education platform, brought the idea to the Christie family, which still controls 36% of Agatha Christie Ltd. They subsequently authorized BBC to use the image of “Queen of Crime” to teach the mysterious writing style. A team of almost 100, including Christie scholars as well as AI specialists, worked on the project. Vivien Keene, an actress, provided a stand-in for the author; Christie’s face was mapped on top. Crucially, Ms Keene’s credible performance employs only Christie’s words: extracts from her own writings, notebooks and interviews. In this way, the creator of classical characters Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple shares handy writing tips, such as the neatest ways to deal with fictional victims. Be careful of poisons, as each works in a unique way. Beginner authors can “always rely on a dull blow to the head”. Many of Christie’s writing rules concern playing fair. She practised misdirection and laid “false clues” alongside true ones, but insisted that her plots do not cheat or hide key evidence: “I never deceive my readers.” She tells potential writers to use snowstorms to isolate murder scenes (as they bring down telephone wires) and cites the clue-generating value of railway timetables, ink stains and cut-up newspapers. By relying on Christie’s own words, BBC Maestro hopes to avoid charges of deepfakery. At the same time, it is the focus on quotation that limits the course’s value as a creative-writing toolbox. 28. Why is AI used according to the passage? A. To bring a late writer back to life. B. To present a master writing course. C. To promote the image of a famous writer. D. To establish an online education platform. 29. What is the main job of Vivien Keene? A. Creating new stories based on Christie’s works. B. Citing words directly taken from Christie’s documents. C. Using her own facial expressions to match Christie’s words. D. Communicating with a team of Christie scholars and her family. 30. What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about? A. Christie’s practical security tips. B. Christie’s way of dealing with people. C. Christie’s logic of developing stories. D. Christie’s committed working principles. 31. How does the author view BBC Maestro’s strategy? A. A costly trade-off. B. A creative breakthrough. C. A cautious overreaction. D. A well-intentioned failure. B 29. B 30. C 31. 根据第二段“Christie’s course is the result not of recently unearthed video footage, but artificial intelligence. BBC Maestro, an online education platform, brought the idea to the Christie family, which still controls 36% of Agatha Christie Ltd. They subsequently authorized BBC to use the image of “Queen of Crime” to teach the mysterious writing style.(克里斯蒂的这一课程并非基于近期发现的视频资料,而是基于人工智能技术。英国广播公司“大师”在线教育平台将这一想法传达给了克里斯蒂家族,该家族目前仍掌控着阿加莎·克里斯蒂有限公司36%的股份。随后,他们批准英国广播公司使用“犯罪女王”的形象来教授这种神秘的写作风格)”可知,使用AI的目的是呈现克里斯蒂的写作课程。 【29题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“Crucially, Ms Keene’s credible performance employs only Christie’s words: extracts from her own writings, notebooks and interviews.(至关重要的是,基恩女士的精彩表演仅采用了克里斯蒂的原话:她自己的作品、笔记本和访谈摘录。)” 根据第四段“In this way, the creator of classical characters Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple shares handy writing tips, such as the neatest ways to deal with fictional victims. Be careful of poisons, as each works in a unique way. Beginner authors can “always rely on a dull blow to the head”. Many of Christie’s writing rules concern playing fair. She practised misdirection and laid “false clues” alongside true ones, but insisted that her plots do not cheat or hide key evidence: “I never deceive my readers.” She tells potential writers to use snowstorms to isolate murder scenes (as they bring down telephone wires) and cites the clue-generating value of railway timetables, ink stains and cut-up newspapers.(通过这种方式,经典角色赫尔克里·波洛和玛普尔小姐的创作者分享了一些实用的写作技巧,比如处理虚构受害者的最巧妙方法。 根据最后一段“By relying on Christie’s own words, BBC Maestro hopes to avoid charges of deepfakery. At the same time, it is the focus on quotation that limits the course’s value as a creative-writing toolbox.(通过引用克里斯蒂自己的原话,英国广播公司“大师”栏目组希望以此避免被指责为深度伪造。同时,对引用内容的过分强调限制了该课程作为创意写作工具包的价值)”可知,作者指出该策略在避免“深度伪造”争议的同时,也因过度依赖引用而限制了课程作为创作工具的价值,这是一种有利有弊的权衡,且这种代价是策略本身固有的。 D Solutions to the plastic waste crisis are often presented using words that can unfairly influence how we judge them, new research argues. The paper, authored by the Sustainable Materials Innovation Hub at The University of Manchester, explores how the choice of terminology affects our understanding of end-of-life solutions for plastic waste. While recycling has long been promoted as a solution for plastic sustainability, it comes in many forms, and can sometimes hide the real discussions around sustainability. The researchers, Seitzinger, Lahive, and Shaver, find that directional terms such as “upcycling” and “downcycling” lack clear definitions as value judgments, and that their use can twist perceptions of the benefits, potentially creating a barrier to circularity. “Downcycling,” for example, suggests the production of a less desirable or “less good” material as the final product of the recycling process, while “upcycling” carries positive associations. However, despite what these terms suggest, a downcycled stream may actually produce a high-value product, while an upcycled approach may have a greater negative environmental impact than other methods. Using these terms assigns unfair value to certain end-of-life plastic solution strategies, and can be used by supporters or opponents of different recycling technologies to hide genuine evaluation of their environmental impact. The study, published in the journal Cambridge Prisms: Plastics, suggests that plastic waste solutions consistently fail to live up to their marketed messaging, and that clearer communication of the true value of the product from a recycling process is essential to encourage investment in proper plastic waste management. The researchers argue that no single solution offers a quick fix, and that it is wrong for the terminology to suggest otherwise. They call for greater clarity over how we judge end-products. They suggest a “spiral system” of reuse, in which plastic materials are treated as complex mixtures like crude oil, rather than simple goods. By moving away from direction-loaded terminology, plastic waste solutions can be judged on measurable environmental and economic value of the final product, rather than an assumed or subjective value based on language that is not always supported by full life-cycle assessment or economic analysis. 32. What does the research find about “upcycling” and “downcycling”? A. They are merely scientifically defined. B. They may mislead people’s judgment. C. They measure environmental impact. D. They promote all plastic solutions. 33. What can be learned from the example of “downcycled” materials? A. They tend to bring inferior final products. B. They can generate high-value products. C. They harm the environment seriously. D. They represent more advanced technology. 34. Why does the author suggest a “spiral system” of reuse? A. To simplify plastic waste management. B. To treat plastics as simple goods. C. To avoid judgment based on loaded terms. D. To replace all current recycling methods. 35. What does the author call for in the passage? A. Stopping the use of plastic materials. B. Developing more recycling technologies. C. Judging recycling by measurable value. D. Promoting upcycling over downcycling. B 33. B 34. C 35. 根据第二段“The researchers, Seitzinger, Lahive, and Shaver, find that directional terms such as “upcycling” and “ downcycling” lack clear definitions as value judgments, and that their use can twist perceptions of the benefits, potentially creating a barrier to circularity. (研究人员Seitzinger, Lahive,和 Shaver发现,像 “升级再造” 和 “降级再造” 这样的方向性术语作为价值判断缺乏明确定义,其使用可能会扭曲对益处的认知,潜在地对循环利用造成阻碍。)可知,“升级再造”和“降级再造” 可能会误导人们的判断。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“However, despite what these terms suggest, a downcycled stream may actually produce a high-value product, while an upcycled approach may have a greater negative environmental impact than other methods. There, she offered the old guidance through the digital world — showing how to tell truth from AI-generated fiction, helping access important services with a few careful clicks and so on. Yet one person still struggled: Mr. Arthur Hale, an 82-year-old widower (鳏夫) whose world had slowly shrunk to the quiet rooms of his lonely home. A smartphone from his granddaughter Lila overseas sat unused on his side table, gathering dust. “It’s too much,” he’d murmur to Mia, his hands—once skilled in the gentle art of gardening — now moving nervously. The digital age had left him behind in clear ways: a missed heart doctor appointment, the ongoing silence where his granddaughter’s laughter should have been, the quiet frustration of struggling with a QR code at the drugstore. The man who once shared pieces from his rose bushes now spent hours looking out the window, as if watching the world speed by like a train he wasn’t on. Mia understood the real problem was not skill, but heart. For many like Mr. Hale, technology felt less like a tool and more like a sign that they were being ignored, a quiet conversation happening in a place they could no longer join. One rainy afternoon, she found him staring at his phone’s black screen, a single tear moving slowly down his wrinkled cheek. He had accidentally deleted the last good photo of his beloved wife. “I only wanted to see Lila,” he whispered, the words floating in the still room. “Was that too much to ask?” Mia’s heart ached. She promised him she’d help, not just with the phone, but with letting go of his fear. That evening, she stayed up late, making a simple, step-by-step guide with large pictures and clear words, — just for him. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 On her next day visit, Mia sat beside Mr. Hale and picked up his smartphone. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Weeks later, a digital help corner opened in the community. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 On her next day visit, Mia sat beside Mr. Hale and picked up his smartphone. “Let’s start with what you love,” she said gently, opening the camera. “How about a picture of your roses for Lila?” She guided his trembling hands, turning taps into familiar gestures — like tending to buds. “Just tap this, and you’ll see Lila,” she said softly. Mr. Hale’s hands shook as he followed her steps. The screen lit up, and his granddaughter’s face appeared. “Grandpa!” she cried. For a minute, he couldn’t speak, just staring and smiling through tears. He asked about her life, showed her his rose garden, and even learned to send a heart emoji. When the call ended, he squeezed Mia’s hand: “Thank you for bringing my granddaughter back to me.” Weeks later, a digital help corner opened in the community. Mia invited other college volunteers, and they tailored lessons to the elderly: how to book doctor’s appointments online, scan QR codes, and even use AI to edit garden photos. Mr. Hale became a volunteer too, teaching his friends what he’d learned. One day, he showed Mia a short video he’d made of his roses, with a voice over saying, “Thank you for not leaving us behind, but with us letting go of fear.” The digital divide wasn’t just about skills — it was about care. In the digital age, Mia realized, kindness was the best bridge between generations. 词汇激活 行为类 ① 指导:guide/instruct ② 颤抖:shake/tremble ③ 结束:end/conclude 情绪类 ① 笑:smile/beam ② 恐惧:fear/horror 【点睛】【高分句型1】“Let’s start with what you love,” she said gently, opening the camera.运用了现在分词短语opening the camera作伴随状语) 【高分句型2】Mr. Hale’s hands shook as he followed her steps.(运用了as引导的时间状语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 绝密★考试结束前 高三英语学科练习 考生须知: 1. What went on at Cooper’s last night? B When I was 24, newly relocated back to my hometown and searching for a sense of community, an intergenerational friendship wasn’t where I expected to find connection. C Everyone has a book inside them, or so the saying goes. D Solutions to the plastic waste crisis are often presented using words that can unfairly influence how we judge them, new research argues. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。 The power of your exercise mindset If exercise seems like a great idea but you can never keep up a routine, it’s worth considering your exercise “mindset”. Maybe you’ve tried to shame or scare yourself into going to the gym by recounting the health risks of not moving. ____36____ Yet when it comes to exercise, reminding ourselves that something is good for us isn’t always enough to get us to follow through. ____37____ They shape how you view the exercise and ultimately determine what truly inspires your motivation to keep going. In contrast, thinking about exercise in all-or-nothing terms— “I need at least 30 minutes or there’s no point” —is the enemy of consistency. You need to adopt the mindset that “any and all movement is worth it, and everything counts,” says Dr. Michelle Segar, a sustainable-change researcher. ____38____ Rather than seeing workouts as a way to burn calories or lose weight, it can help to focus on more immediately satisfying reasons to do it, like clearing your mind or feeling less stressed, according to Segar. Richard Bernstein, a Michigan Supreme Court Justice, was born blind and lives with ongoing chronic pain after a serious accident. Yet he has completed 25 marathons and an Ironman triathlon, even with a notably demanding work schedule. When asked how he does it, he acknowledges that it all began by changing his mindset. He says, “As I found joy in running with others, my miles slowly mounted, and I fell into marathon training, which sparked a drive to do even more. ____39____” Exercise becomes associated with the delight of being outdoors and the fellowship of others, and he’s found that the process sparks a cycle of flourishing: “____40____ It allows you to be strong, it allows you to push forward, it allows you to find that inner strength. The more I move, the better I actually feel.” A. Athletics is almost spiritual in a way. B. Your beliefs about your process matter. C. Your attitude toward exercise goals plays a key role. D. Reaching a fitness goal was the last thing on my mind. E. Focusing on long-term benefits can also strengthen your exercise mindset. F. Changing your “why” for getting active can also boost longterm motivation. G. Or perhaps you’ve aimed to get active by thinking of the long-term upsides of exercise. 第三部分 语言知识运用 (共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下列文章,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 My brother is a determined shoes-off-er. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始,第一节听下面5段对话。每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的ABC3个选项中选出最佳选项。听完每段对话后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题,每段对话读两遍。现在你有5秒钟. 的时间阅读第一小题的有关内容。Hey, did you go to Coopers last night?
