(25-26九年级下·上海中学东校·月考)Are you moving away from single-use items to help save the Earth? Don’t forget about AA and AAA batteries (五号、七号电池). Rechargeable batteries can cost more than twice as much as single-use ones, but if you use them properly, they’ll save you money and benefit our planet in the long run.
The most important thing to consider when choosing batteries is how you’ll use them. Rechargeable batteries are the best for “high-drain devices”. These devices, such as your wireless computer mouse and toy cars, use up batteries quickly. Single-use batteries are more suitable for things like your TV remote (遥控器). These devices use much less power. You do not have to change the batteries regularly. Single-use batteries are also better for emergency devices like flashlights. That’s because they’re designed to hold their charge for a long time. They are ready to be used whenever you need them.
When you are shopping for rechargeable batteries, there are a few important things to keep in mind. First, most of them have a shelf life (保质期) of about five years. It is best not to buy a lot of them at one time. Second, remember to buy a charger that can charge both AA and AAA batteries.
Never leave your batteries charging all night. Most rechargeable batteries only take a few hours to fully charge. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t unplug the charger the second your batteries reach 100 percent. But if this becomes a habit, your batteries will have shorter lives.
Finally, remember to never use batteries of different brands together. Your AAA batteries may all look the same, but they can behave very differently when they are in use.

(2026·上海青浦·一模)New Rules for E-bikes in China
Do you ride an electric bicycle (e-bike) to school in the morning? From September 1, the new national standards for e-bikes have taken effect.
Speed ≤25km/h
·If the e-bikes go at a speed higher than 25 kilometres per hour, the motor will stop running.
Other rules
·With the Beidou system, owners can check on their phone where the bike is. Besides, this function also helps with traffic management—for example, in a traffic accident involving an e-bike, the positioning data can be used to find out the accident process.
·Modifications (改装) to certain parts of e-bikes, such as the battery and speed limiter are not allowed.
·The use of rearview mirrors and turn signals is encouraged. Rearview mirrors help riders observe the traffic situation behind, while turn signals allow other road users to clearly understand where the rider wants to go.
________
·E-bikes (including batteries) must not be more than 55 kilograms. This rule can let the bike run farther and need less charging. What’s more, it is easier for riders to control, especially in unexpected situations.
Age rule
·People who ride electric bikes must be no younger than 16. Kids under 16 can’t ride them on public roads. They don’t have enough skills and experiences to deal with busy traffic. Besides, people over 12 years old are not allowed to be carried on e-bikes as this will make the bike too heavy and dangerous to drive.
Helmet wearing requirement
·Riders and passengers (if any) must wear safety helmets when riding. Helmets are the most useful protective equipment to reduce head injuries in an accident fall or crash.
1.What’s the speed limit for e-bikes?
A.12 kilometres per hour. B.16 kilometres per hour.
C.25 kilometres per hour. D.55 kilometres per hour.
2.Which of the following is the best to be filled in the blank?
A.Riding distance B.E-bike total weight C.Battery life D.E-bike control
3.Why mustn’t kids under 16 ride e-bikes on public roads?
A.Because their body weight is not fit for e-bikes yet.
B.Because they aren’t prepared to deal with busy traffic.
C.Because they don’t have enough skills to carry other kids.
D.Because too many e-riders on the road may cause busy traffic.
4.The underlined word “equipment” means ________.
A.tools used for a certain purpose B.money needed to buy something
C.people who operate a machine D.place where something is made
5.The Beidou system can help e-riders ________.
A.avoid traffic accidents B.observe the traffic situation
C.manage modification of e-bikes D.find the location of the e-bikes
6.What’s the purpose of these rules?
A.To stop kids from driving e-bikes. B.To give suggestions to road users.
C.To improve riding safety for e-riders. D.To inform riders of the speed requirements.

A.AA batteries B.AAA batteries C.single-use batteries D.rechargeable batteries

3.According to the article, which of the following is a “high-drain device”?
A. B. C. D.
4.According to the article, the shelf life for most rechargeable batteries is ________.
A.about one year B.about five years C.less than six months D.more than ten years
5.According to the article, we should never ________.
A.store batteries for emergencies B.charge batteries for a few hours
C.use rechargeable batteries in a flashlight D.use batteries of different brands together

【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了中国电动自行车的新国家标准,包括速度、重量、年龄、头盔佩戴等方面的规定,旨在提升骑行安全。
1.细节理解题。根据文中“Speed ≤25km/h” 以及“If the e-bikes go at a speed higher than 25 kilometres per hour, the motor will stop running.”可知,电动自行车的速度限制为每小时25公里。故选C。
2.主旨大意题。该部分内容为“E-bikes (including batteries) must not be more than 55 kilograms.”,核心是电动自行车的总重量限制,因此“E-bike total weight”最适合作为该部分标题。故选B。
3.细节理解题。根据文中“They don’t have enough skills and experiences to deal with busy traffic.”可知,16岁以下儿童不能在公共道路上骑电动车,是因为他们没有足够的技能和经验应对繁忙的交通。故选B。
4.词句猜测题。根据前文“Helmets are the most useful protective equipment to reduce head injuries in an accident fall or crash.”可知,头盔是用于减少头部受伤的防护装备,因此“equipment”的意思是“tools used for a certain purpose(用于特定用途的工具)”。故选A。
5.细节理解题。根据文中“With the Beidou system, owners can check on their phone where the bike is.”可知,北斗系统可以帮助电动自行车车主找到车辆的位置。故选D。
