In Xizang, there is a newly opened minimarket. It provides all kinds of daily products for local people, but people don't need to pay money. Villagers here can exchange recyclables for them. “Rubbish for cash(现金)” is the secret behind its success.

It was not accepted by all the local people at first, so the minimarket started with children. The children exchanged recyclables for snacks, and soon the news spread. Now, more and more people come to exchange recyclables for daily products. Four local villagers even found a job in the minimarket. The minimarket is not the only “green” market.

In another “green” supermarket in another city, customers can buy daily products with points. People exchange recyclables for points. For example, one kilogram of boxes can be exchanged for 5 points. When people get 16 points, they can exchange them for a bag of salt.

Technology also makes green life smarter and cleaner. The smart bins can tell people how heavy their recyclables are and put the number into cards held by them. When the bins are full, they will “remind” the cleaning staff to take the rubbish out.

When you think of the sea, you may not think of Xinjiang or Inner Mongolia. But recently, the “seafood” in these places has become popular, especially after Japan put nuclearcontaminated water into the sea.
In Nilka County in Xinjiang, over 6,000 tons of rainbow trout(虹鳟鱼) will be sold this year. Rainbow trout is a kind of famous seafood in the world.

Why do farmers in Xinjiang choose to grow fish? “The weather in some parts of Xinjiang is cool, and most of the river water is from the Tianshan Mountains. As the water is very clean and cold, it's a ‘comfortable’ home for fish,” said Li Chunyu, a worker at a fish company in Xinjiang.

To keep the river clean, the company uses machines to remove(清除) fish waste from the water. It also uses environmentally friendly net cages in the water. The nets are about 51 meters wide and lie 25 meters deep in the river.
In Inner Mongolia, whiteleg shrimp(南美白对虾) grows well. Saline soil covers a large part of the desert, so few plants are able to grow there.

Farmers used to put water from the Yellow River onto the farmland to wash away the salt. This was a waste of salty water. Scientists then decided to create “seawater” with the salty water by adding some other components. Whiteleg shrimp can live well in this kind of water. They taste no different from the same kind of shrimp that grows in the sea.
