When my 86-year-old mother moved closer, I was happy to care for her. However, she soon began to complain (抱怨) about almost everything — the food, the weather, even neighbors. Her complaints made me sad.
I thought I was different from her. At a meeting, a friend asked why I was so sad. I explained my mother seemed not thankful. But as I spoke, I felt uneasy. Later, I asked my husband if I complained a lot, but he kept silent. I saw the truth in his eyes. I realized I had the same habit. I tried to control myself, but my mother’s calls made me nervous. The more I held back with her, the more I complained to my husband.
Then, a friend gave me a special diary. She suggested I write thankful things each day. I started the next morning. Listing my wishes filled me with joy. This simple act changed my view. I began noticing small, beautiful things I had missed.
Life’s challenges remained, but I learned to see the gifts around me, including my mother. I couldn’t change her, but I could choose to love her. My friends noticed my softer behavior. Gratitude (感恩), not complaint, became my path to peace.

59.第一段第二句提到“However, she soon began to complain about almost everything—the food, the weather, even neighbors.”,这说明作者的母亲搬近后,她很快开始抱怨几乎所有事情——食物、天气,甚至邻居。
60.第一段提到“When my 86-year-old mother moved closer, I was happy to care for her.”和“Her complaints made me sad.”;第二段提到“I tried to control myself, but my mother’s calls made me nervous.”以及最后一段提到“Gratitude (感恩), not complaint, became my path to peace.”,这说明作者的情感变化过程是:开心→紧张→平和。
61.全文核心是作者从抱怨转向感恩,最终获得内心平静,且最后一句“Gratitude (感恩), not complaint, became my path to peace.”点明“感恩带来和平”的主旨。

We often hear setting clear goals is the key to success. For years, I believed this, so I always set goals. Sometimes I succeeded, but often I failed. Finally, I realized that my results had little to do with the goals I set but nearly everything to do with the systems I followed.
What do I mean by this? Are goals completely useless? Of course not. Goals are good for setting a direction, but systems are best for making progress. Many problems appear when you spend too much time thinking about your goals and not enough time designing your systems. So why is it not enough to only focus on our goals?
The first reason is that goals cannot tell between winners and losers because they share the same goals. Every athlete wants an Olympic gold medal. Those who won medals made it not just by wanting to — they improved their training systems through daily practice.
Second, achieving a goal only changes your life temporarily (临时地). Imagine you have a messy room and you set a goal to clean it. After tidying up, you will have a clean room. But if you keep the same habits, the mess will return. You still end up with the same result because you never changed the system behind it.
Furthermore, goals restrict happiness. We often think, “Once we reach our goal, then we’ll be happy.” However, when we fall in love with the process, we don’t have to wait to be happy. We can be happy anytime our system is running.
Finally, a mind that only cares about goals can create a “yo-yo” effect. Many runners stop training after they cross the finish line because the goal is no longer there to motivate them. So goals aren’t good for making long-term progress, but systems keep you improving beyond single achievements.
In short, goals can provide direction and even push you forward in the short term, but eventually a well-designed system will always win.
62.How did the writer realize the importance of the system?
A.By watching videos online. B.By learning from personal experiences.
C.By asking a teacher for advice. D.By reading books about successful people.
63.What does the example of athletes mainly tell us?
A.Goals alone can’t lead to success. B.Athletes need clear goals for practice.
C.Talent is the key to winning medals. D.Players don’t depend on training systems.
64.What does the underlined word “restrict” in paragraph 5 mean?
A.Limit. B.Create. C.Protect. D.Destroy.
65.Which of the following ideas does the writer probably agree with?
A.Better late than never. B.Big dreams mean more than daily habits.
C.Well begun is half done. D.The process matters more than the result.
【答案】62.B 63.A 64.A 65.D
【解析】本文是一篇议论文,主要论述了目标与系统的关系,作者通过自身经历和多个实例,提出目标仅能提供短期方向,而设计良好的系统才是长期成功的关键,系统比目标更重要的核心观点。
62.根据第一段中的“For years, I believed this, so I always set goals. Sometimes I succeeded, but often I failed. Finally, I realized that my results had little to do with the goals I set but nearly everything to do with the systems I followed.”可知,作者是通过自身设定目标、成败交替的个人经历,意识到系统的重要性。
63.根据第三段中的“The first reason is that goals cannot tell between winners and losers because they share the same goals. Every athlete wants an Olympic gold medal. Those who won medals made it not just by wanting to—they improved their training systems through daily practice.”可知,仅靠目标无法带来成功,是训练系统让运动员获胜。
64.根据第五段中的“We often think, ‘Once we reach our goal, then we’ll be happy.’ However, when we fall in love with the process, we don’t have to wait to be happy.”
D
Have you ever had a bad day and been told, “You’ll feel better in the morning”? Well, science says that might actually be true!
A study from the University College London (UCL) found that people generally feel better in the morning and worse at night. This research offers clear evidence that our emotions follow a daily cycle we may not fully understand. The study looked at nearly 1 million survey replies from 50,000 adults over two years. Researchers asked people questions like, “In the past week, how happy did you feel?” and “How satisfied have you been with your life?” The large number of participants (参加者) made the results highly reliable. They found that happiness, life satisfaction and general well-being were highest for people who answered the survey in the morning. But the feeling decreased as the day went on, reaching its lowest point around midnight.
Scientists believe our body’s biological clock plays a big role in this. It controls when we wake up and when we feel sleepy, and it also influences our mood. Cortisol (皮质醇), a hormone (荷尔蒙) that controls mood and emotions, is at its highest in the morning and drops at night. This could explain why people feel better at the start of the day and worse later on.
Other factors (因素) can also influence our mood. For example, our daily routines, work and social lives change between weekdays and weekends, and that can influence how we feel. This is also supported by the study’s findings, because happiness and life satisfaction were higher on Mondays and Fridays than on Sundays. And Tuesdays were the happiest days of the week. Seasons influence our mood as well—people feel happier and less worried in spring, summer and autumn compared to winter. However, the time of day still influences our mood, no matter the season.
These findings could help mental health services, says UCL’s Feifei Bu. If people feel worse at night, she said, more support should be provided during those hours.
66.What do we know about the study from UCL?
A.It lasted for less than one year in London.
B.It asked 50,000 adults for information.
C.It showed people felt worst on Friday nights.
D.It studied the mood changes of 1 million adults.
67.What does the underlined word “It” refer to in paragraph 3?
A.The UCL study. B.The hormone cortisol.
C.Our body’s mood. D.The biological clock.
68.What is paragraph 3 mainly about?
A.How social activities improve people’s health.
B.Why cortisol, a hormone, controls emotions.
C.What influences people’s mood changes.
D.How the researchers conducted the study on feelings.
69.How does the writer develop paragraph 4?
A.By listing numbers. B.By giving examples.
C.By asking questions. D.By telling stories.
70.What can we infer from the last two paragraphs?
A.More help should go to those who feel worse at night.
B.People feel happier on Fridays than on Mondays.
C.Those who feel worse at night should go to see a doctor.
D.People are less worried in winter than in summer.
【答案】66.B 67.D 68.C 69.B 70.A
【解析】本文主要介绍了一项关于人们情绪在一天中变化规律的研究,并探讨了生物钟、皮质醇以及其他因素对情绪的影响。
66.第二段指出:“The study looked at nearly 1 million survey replies from 50,000 adults over two years”,说明该研究调查了5万名成年人。
67.第三段提到“Scientists believe our body’s biological clock plays a big role in this. It controls when we wake up and when we feel sleepy”,其中的“It”指代前文提到的“our body’s biological clock”,即生物钟。
68.第三段第一句“Scientists believe our body’s biological clock plays a big role in this”表明生物钟对情绪有影响,后面又提到皮质醇这种荷尔蒙也对情绪有影响,所以本段主要讲的是什么影响人们的情绪变化。
69.第四段提到“For example, our daily routines, work and social lives change between weekdays and weekends, and that can influence how we feel”以及“Seasons influence our mood as well”,通过列举日常惯例、工作日和周末以及季节等例子来说明影响情绪的因素。
70.最后一段指出:“If people feel worse at night...more support should be provided during those hours”,说明应该为那些在晚上情绪更差的人提供更多帮助。

If you look around your city, you might see girls wearing Hanfu in subways or people wearing T-shirts with Chinese characters on the streets. A new trend is taking hold in China — guochao.
According to a recently published report, searches related to guochao on a lifestyle information platform have risen by 170 percent from the same period last year, and reviews have risen by nearly 40 percent. Guochao is rising, but what is it?
The term describes the growth of China’s local fashion trends. It has widened the idea of “Made in China”, which has been known as the representation of Chinese culture and beauty contained in home-grown Chinese brands, according to CGTN.
For example, White Rabbit, whose sweet candy brings back childhood memories for many, introduced its perfume (香水) and lip balm. “We want White Rabbit to be a brand that young people want to share,” Shen Qinfeng, the company’s marketing manager said.
Now, guochao is “moving to the next stage, where its success will depend on gaining cultural confidence rather than Western validation”, according to the founder of a brand strategy consultancy.
No matter how the guochao trend develops, there’s one thing that won’t change: “Behind the craze is people’s positive attitude toward the country’s development and their recognition of and growing confidence in national culture,” said Yao Linqing, a professor in the School of Economics and Management at Communication University of China.
71.Where might you see girls wearing Hanfu?
72.What does the term “guochao” describe?

73.How does White Rabbit attract young people’s attention?
74.How many people express their opinions about the new trend?
