A.cost; take B.spends; take C.takes; spend D.take; spend

A.talk B.talking C.read D.reading

—Sorry. I promise that I ______.
A.Don’t; won’t B.Don’t be; don’t
C.Don’t be; won’t D.Don’t; will
7.Chinese people ________ the national flag at Tian’anmen Square to celebrate the National Day.
A.rest B.raise C.race D.rise
【答案】B

—Wow! ________ happy family!
A.What a B.How a C.What D.How

故选A。

Taking Root
We all know that there are a great number of different plants in the world! But how many kinds of plants are there exactly in the world? Lucy Braun wondered that as a child. She showed a great interest in plants when she was just a little child. She often had energetic walks with her family through the nearby woods. Some plants and wildflowers seemed to shout at her with their wild colours. Others hid behind rocks.
Lucy looked at the shapes of different leaves while she was walking in the woods. She kept a record of what she saw. She also learnt to draw what she saw so that she could compare all kinds of plants. Later, Lucy grew more and more interested in botany, the study of plants.
Branching out
While she was at university, Lucy took classes in geology, or the study of rocks and minerals. Her work with geologists changed how she looked at the natural world. She continued her studies in botany as well. Lucy also took classes in ecology (生态学). She believed that plant life in some areas was able to move to other places over time.
In Full Bloom
In 1917, Lucy began to teach botany at a university. She lived in a house near the woods. Lucy collected plants from all around the country. She took many photos of them too. Colour photography was still new then. Because of that, people enjoyed her lessons and photos very much.
The ▲ of Labour (劳动)
Later in her life, Lucy wrote many field guides. In 1950, she published her most important guide. It describes the plants in the forests all over the country. Ecologists still use it to study changes in the forests over time.
Today, Lucy has a few plants named after her. One of them is Lucy Braun’s snakeroot (蛇根草), which is now in danger. Lucy’s work in the protection of nature may help prevent its disappearance.

Greg is a digital artist from Poland. He is known for his dream-like scenery paintings in a classic style. He has even created art for famous video games. Recently, he has become well-known in the world of AI tools.
His special painting style is now one of the most popular keywords in free AI art tools. These tools enable anyone to create images by typing simple text. For example, if you type “Greg style”, the AI will produce a picture that looks very much like his work.
But there’s a serious problem: most of these AI pictures are used without the agreement from the artists or proper copyright rules. This has caused problems in law, and artists like Greg are upset.
A website that studies AI tools found that Greg’s name was used as a keyword nearly 100,000 times in Stable Diffusion. At first, he was shocked. When he searched his name online, he saw many AI-made images labeled “Greg style”—but he didn’t create any of them.
“It’s only been a month,” Greg said worriedly. “What will happen in a year? The internet might be full of fake AI art, and I won’t even find my real work.”
Greg isn’t alone. Many artists discovered their works were used to train AI models without agreement. Karla, an artist from San Francisco, found her art in Stable Diffusion’s training data. She has spoken out strongly about AI and copyright. Artists fear they’ll lose income, since people can use AI images to make money without paying for artists.
“A group is growing in the art world,” says Karla. “We want to find ways to end or mitigate this problem.” The group is just starting and may push for new laws or rules.

On November 17th, at the 15th National Games, 16-year-old Chen Yujie from Ningbo won the women’s 100-meter final with a great time of 11.10 seconds. She not only set a new personal best but also broke the Asian U20 record—and became the youngest women’s 100 m champion in the event’s history.

In the fifth grade, people noticed her talent for running fast, and she started professional training with coach Wu Yacun. At first, she wasn’t good at moving her arms and legs together.

Greg isn’t alone. Many artists discovered their works were used to train AI models without agreement. Karla, an artist from San Francisco, found her art in Stable Diffusion’s training data.
Chen’s success was not an accident. She was born into a family of runners. When she was a kid, she first practiced tennis. In the fifth grade, people noticed her talent for running fast, and she started professional training with coach Wu Yacun. At first, she wasn’t good at moving her arms and legs together.

Chen’s success was not an accident. She was born into a family of runners. When she was a kid, she first practiced tennis. In the fifth grade, people noticed her talent for running fast, and she started professional training with coach Wu Yacun. At first, she wasn’t good at moving her arms and legs together. So she practiced swinging her arms hundreds of times every day to get better. Even now, as a high school student, she balances study and training. She goes to classes in the morning and practices for three hours every afternoon.
Her talent and non-stop hard work helped her make progress all the time. At 14, she won two gold medals at the U15 World School Summer Games. She even matched the long-time records of the event. In 2024, she joined the national training team. In 2025, she won two gold medals at the Asian Championships—in the women’s 200 m and 4×100 m relay.
