No two snowflakes (雪花) are the same. They have different shapes and fall in four different ways. By watching how they “dance”, we can learn the weather conditions (状况).
It’s hard to see snowflakes dancing with the naked eye (裸眼). Scientists can use special cameras to watch them. Weathermen can use radars (雷达) to study these dances to learn about the weather.
How they dance:
What’s the weather like?
Fall in a line: They fall slowly.
Zigzag (之字形路线): They shake a little back and forth (前后).
Snowflakes dancing like this may melt and become rain.
Spin: They fall fast.
Spin and zigzag: They bump into (撞上) each other and become bigger ones.
Snowflakes falling in these ways might bring a lot of snow.

Villages in China have enjoyed their development in a digital (数字的) way in recent years. With the help of digital technology, villagers are living an easier and happier life.
Farming in the past was not an easy job. Farmers worked hard all year round. At the same time, they usually found it difficult to solve problems like plant diseases and pests (害虫). Now, there have been big changes in farming. For example, in Dayi County, Sichuan Province, AI machines help local farmers know when and how to fertilize (施肥于) fields and kill pests. In this way, they make farmers work more easily with less time and energy.
Thanks to the Internet, a new business called rural e-commerce (乡村电子商务) grows. Selling fresh fruit and vegetables to cities is faster. The business also helps villagers live a digital life. They can get many things done on different kinds of apps. They can also use drones to help with their farm work.
More visitors travel in beautiful villages because of digital technology. A good example is Huacheng Town, Guangdong Province. Visitors can know where to park their cars for free, when to book a ticket easily and what to buy online. They can also enjoy the view of nearly every part of the town by using VR.
34. According to Paragraph 2, we know AI machines can help farmers ________.
A. water the crops B. harvest the crops
C. know when and how to fertilize farmland D. save time and energy on farming
35. In Paragraph 4, the writer gives an example in order to ________.
A. tell where to park the cars B. teach how to buy a ticket online
C. explain the importance of villages D. show digital technology helps develop tourism
36. What is the structure of this passage?(①=Paragraph 1, ②=Paragraph 2...)
A. B. C. D.
37. What is the best title of this passage?
A. Farming in villages B. Tourism in villages
C. The digital technology in villages D. A new business in villages

While tidying my room, I found an old Hanfu, a gift from a friend. It led me to buy matching shoes and earrings. This reminded me of the “birdcage effect (鸟笼效应)”, a psychological phenomenon (心理现象) when getting one thing makes you want to get more things to go with it.
The story behind the birdcage effect is quite fascinating. One day, the psychologist James made a bet (打赌) with his friend Carlson, saying that Carlson would keep a bird soon. Hearing this, Carlson said, “Are you kidding? I have never had this idea.” Later, James gave Carlson a birdcage on his birthday. When friends who visited Carlson’s house saw the cage, they all thought that Carlson had raised birds. Carlson was tired of explaining, and finally, he bought a bird.
As online shopping is popular today, the birdcage effect becomes more common, especially among students. For example, a friend of mine wanted to buy a good pen to match a nice notebook that her sister had given her. She believed it would make her enjoy reading and note-taking. ▲
However, she saw it differently. The beautiful notebook led her to get a good pen, buy a book she liked and start note-taking. She regarded it as a wonderful example of using the birdcage effect positively (正面地) to develop positive habits.
In life, we will meet many forms of the “birdcage effect”. If it leads to unnecessary spending, it’s negative (负面的). We should stop it in time and keep a balance. But if it’s a positive birdcage effect that encourages us to grow and develop, we should see it as a chance to help us achieve our goals. You will find that the “birdcage effect” is not scary at all.
38. What does the underlined phrase “this idea” refer to?
A. Making a bet. B. Telling a joke. C. Buying a birdcage. D. Keeping a bird.
39. According to the passage, what can be seen as “birdcage effect”?
A. Tim wrote some words on the white wall and soon the wall was full of drawings and words.
B. In KFC, you get coke for free and then you buy hamburgers and French fries to go with it.
C. Amy becomes an excellent singer because her teacher told her she was talented in singing.
D. Xiao Ye is from Chongqing, so his friends all believe that he likes eating hot pot.
40. Which of the following sentences can be put in the ▲ in Para. 3?
A. I believed that she would soon love taking notes in this way, too.
B. I believed that it was a perfect example of avoiding the birdcage effect.
C. I thought this was a typical example of the negative birdcage effect.
D. I thought that she would hate reading and taking notes if she did so.
41. The passage mainly tells us ________.
A. the negative impact of Birdcage Effect
B. how to avoid Birdcage Effect in daily life
C. the advantages and disadvantages of Birdcage Effect
D. the history of Birdcage Effect
D

They appear in short videos, wearing special costume or even a space suit. Their short films are all set in breathtaking locations and the performances have been well-received.

Books are our best friends in life. We can read novels, magazines, history books and science books in our free time. However, with so many books around us, it is not easy to pick out really good ones. Here is some advice on how to choose a right and great book for yourself.
First, choose books based on your own interest. If you are curious about nature and animals, books about the natural world are suitable for you. If you enjoy moving stories, classic novels will be a wise choice. Reading what you truly like makes the reading time relaxing and enjoyable.
Second, pay attention to the difficulty level. A good book should be neither too hard nor too easy for you. Books that are too difficult may make you feel worried and give up easily, while easy ones cannot help you learn new things or make progress.
Third, choose books with great ideas and excellent language. Such books can bring you new knowledge, improve your vocabulary and teach you how to think in a better way. They have a deep influence on your study and personality.
Fourth, turn to others for help. You can ask your parents, teachers or friends for good book suggestions. You can also read book reviews online to know more about a book before deciding to read it.
A good book can enrich our mind and make our life more wonderful.

Great changes in Yangzhou
Great changes have taken place in Yangzhou in the past ten years. Ten years ago, the air in Yangzhou was not fresh enough, and most people lived in small old houses. The roads were narrow, making traffic inconvenient.
Now, the sky is blue and the air is clean. People live in bright new flats, and wide roads connect every corner of the city. Buses and subways make our trips easy.
These changes make our life better and better. I am proud of my hometown and hope it will become more beautiful.
