It’s the Yangtze finless porpoise (长江江豚), a national first-class protected animal found only in the Yangtze River. Sadly, its population dropped from about 2,700 in the early 1990s to around 1,800 by 2006. One reason is the increase in boat traffic, which has led to more noise and pollution in the river, China Daily reported. To protect the river and its wildlife, the government has come up with some new ideas. One is the river and lake chief (主要的) system. Under this system, leaders at different levels are responsible for protecting rivers and lakes. “No illegal (非法的) pollution was found, and there are no clear moving objects on the river,” Ouyang Junnian who checks the river every day reported on May 16, 2023. Besides this routine task, the leaders also help deal with wastewater and protect riverbanks. Hunan Province has also set up the “12314” hotline so people can report problems, Hunan Daily said. Since Jan 1, 2021, a 10-year no fishing rule has also been carried out (执行). It stops people from fishing for money in the Yangtze River. In July 2024, for example, three people in Yuanjiang, Hunan, were fined (罚款) 9,900 yuan for illegally catching 40 kilograms of fish in a no-fishing area. This rule is important because too much fishing has left the Yangtze finless porpoises with less food and some of them have been caught in fishing nets. Thanks to these efforts, the number of Yangtze finless porpoises rose from 1,012 in 2017 to 1,249 in 2022. Other important animals, such as the Chinese sturgeon (中华鲟), are also coming back. From 2021 to 2024, scientists found 344 kinds of native fish in the Yangtze River, which is 36 more than the number found between 2017 and 2020, Xinhua said. 根据短文内容,选择最佳答案。 31. What is “the giant panda of the water” according to the passage? A. The Chinese sturgeon. B. The Yangtze finless porpoise. C. A kind of native fish in the Yangtze River. D. A national first-class protected bird. 32. Why did the population of Yangtze finless porpoises drop according to the first paragraph? A. Because of the waste in the river. B. Because of fishing by fishermen. C. Because of the increase in boat traffic. D. Because of the natural enemies. 33. What does the underlined word “routine” in Paragraph 3 probably mean? A. daily B. sudden C. special D. difficult 34. Why was the 10 — year no fishing rule carried out? A. To make the river a better place for boats. B. To allow people to catch more fish freely. C. To punish people who catch fish in wrong ways. D. To provide more food and protect the Yangtze finless porpoises. 35. Which is the best title for the passage? A. The Yangtze Finless Porpoise: A National Treasure B. Efforts to Protect the Yangtze River and Its Wildlife C. The 10 — Year No Fishing Rule in the Yangtze River D. The River and Lake Chief System in Hunan 【答案】31. B 32. C 33. A 34. D 35. It’s the Yangtze finless porpoise.”,长江江豚是“水中的大熊猫”。 【32题详解】 第一段末尾提到:“One reason is the increase in boat traffic, which has led to more noise and pollution in the river.”,船只增多带来的噪音和污染是原因之一,其他选项文中未提及。 【33题详解】 本句前面提到“Ouyang Junnian ‘checks the river every day’”,因此“this routine task”指的就是这项每日检查工作。“routine”意为“常规的、日常的”,与“daily”同义。 【34题详解】 第四段末尾说明:“too much fishing has left the Yangtze finless porpoises with less food and some of them have been caught in fishing nets.”,禁渔是为了减少食物短缺和误伤,保护江豚。 (C) Do you sometimes feel too afraid to try new things? If you want to grow and get better, you need to take risks and challenge yourself. But your brain may tell you to stay safe and avoid wasting time on new things. Even if these thoughts aren’t reasonable, our worry often wins. Instead of thinking about the good chances, we worry more about bad results. Avoiding all risks seems smart but may make you unhappy. We often decide by feelings instead of facts. We think, “The more scared I feel, the riskier it is.” But feelings are not always reasonable (有道理的). Learning to think about risks clearly helps us know which are worth taking. For example, trying a new hobby like painting may feel scary at first but can bring you joy and new skills. Learning to take “good risks” can improve your life. Here are good ways to help. Balance (平衡) your feelings with facts. Fear doesn’t always mean real risk. For example, driving a car feels safe because we do it every day, but giving a speech in public might make your heart beat fast. But the fact shows that car accidents are much more common than getting hurt while speaking! So think about the real risk before giving up. Take small steps to lower risks and succeed. For example, making a study plan can prepare you well for a test. It is normal to feel nervous about new things. Facing fear can build your mental strength (心理力量). So, taking wise risks makes you stronger and helps you deal with worry. You can also learn new skills and grow from mistakes. If you try out for a dance team and don’t make it, find out why and practice more. This will improve your ability to face risks and increase your chance of success. 根据短文内容,选择最佳答案。 36. Why don’t people like to try new things according to Paragraph 1? A. They have no free time. B. They worry too much about bad results. C. They think new things are useless. D. They are too busy with daily work. 37. What can we learn from the example of driving and speaking? A. Driving is safer than speaking in public. B. Feelings are always the same as facts. C. Fear doesn’t always mean real danger. D. Public speaking easily makes people hurt. 38. What is the correct order to take good risks? ①Take small steps to prepare. ②Face the fear and have a try. ③Think about the real risk. A. ③→①→② B. ①→③→② C. ③→②→① D. ②→①→③ 39. How does the writer organize the passage? A. By telling a long story first. B. By showing problems and giving advice. C. By talking about history and facts. D. By asking questions but giving no answers. 40. What is the passage mainly about? A. How to stay away from all risks. B. Why people dislike new hobbies. C. How to take good risks and grow. D. When to make decisions with feelings. 【答案】36. B 37. C 38. A 39. B 40. It’s a new AI agent called OpenClaw. Using a red lobster as its symbol, it was developed by Austrian programmer Peter Steinberger. In China, many people have set up this AI on their computers, which they jokingly call “raising lobster”. For a while now, we’ve had AI tools like ChatGPT. They can advise us on what to do, but they can’t reach into the real world to do it for us. Also, they only “talk” when asked. OpenClaw, on the other hand, “actually does things.” For example, it can send emails and buy plane tickets. The AI works in chat apps (聊天软件), so you can text it like texting a friend. OpenClaw also has a long “memory”. Over time, it learns what you like and follows your schedule (日程安排). You can wake up in the morning to a message about your top three tasks without even having to ask the AI first. This proactiveness (主动性) is made possible by something called a “heartbeat”, according to Claire Vo, a US AI expert. She explained that a heartbeat is a timer that goes off on time. With each “heartbeat”, the AI checks what comes next. However, OpenClaw collects a lot of personal information from users, which is dangerous. In February, researchers found that some important information from OpenClaw had been put online without telling the users. Hackers (黑客) could use this data to control users’ computers. On March 8 and 10, the Chinese government gave its first-ever warnings about this kind of AI, telling people to be careful while using it. 根据短文内容,判断句子正(T)、误(F)。 41. Everyone cheered! On March 8, the young dancer from Chongqing won the first place at Juste Debout 2026, a famous street dance competition in Paris, France. Li started learning street dance at the age of 8. He practiced for about two hours each school day and five hours each day on weekends. He also trained in Chinese martial arts (武术) and mixed them into his dance. This made his moves clean and special. Many kids are afraid of getting hurt while learning difficult moves, but Li is different—the harder the move is, the more he wants to learn it. When he failed, he always tried to find out why. The River and Lake Chief System in Hunan (C) Do you sometimes feel too afraid to try new things? (D) You might see the title of “raising lobster” (养龙虾) recently online, but the “lobster” is not the kind you’d find on the dining table. OpenClaw is a kind of seafood you can find on the dining table. 42. AI tools like ChatGPT can do things in the real world for people. 43. OpenClaw can send emails and buy plane tickets for users. 44. OpenClaw is safe because it never collects users’ personal information. 45. The Chinese government warned people to be careful when using OpenClaw in March. (E) Lots of people find it hard to get up in the morning, and put the blame (责任) on the alarm clock. In fact, the key to easy morning wake-up lies in resetting your body clock. ____46____ Here’s how to make one. Find the right reason. In order to make a change, you need to decide why it’s important. ____47____ Or do you want to get in some exercise? Once you are clear about your reasons, tell your family or room- mates about the change you want to make. Rethink mornings. Since you know why you want to wake up, consider planning your morning activities. If you want time to have breakfast with your family, save some time the night before by setting out clothes, shoes, and bags. ____48____ You could sleep 15 minutes more if you bought a coffee maker with a timer. ____49____ If you’re tired out by Friday night, sleeping in on Saturday could sound wonderful. But compensating (补偿) on the weekends actually results in your sleepiness the following week. A recent study found: Stick to your set bedtime and wake-up time, no matter the day. Keep a note weekly. Record your efforts and write down how you feel. After you’ve tried a new method for a week, take a look at your record. ____50____ If not take another look at other methods you could try. 阅读短文,把A—E五个句子填入文中空缺处,使短文内容完整。 A.
