In recent years, the word “involution (内卷)” has become very popular. It describes a situation where people have to work or study hard just to stay in the same place or to get a slight advantage
Take students for example. They face serious competition. They not only have to do much homework every day, but also need to take different after-school classes. They always try to get better grades than their classmates. Some students even stay up late to study, without caring about their health. This kind of non-stop competition among students is a typical character of involution.
In the workplace, it’s the same story. People have to work longer hours and take on more work. They always want to be better than others. They are afraid of losing their jobs if they don’t work hard. The pressure makes them feel very tired. This is also an example of involution.
Businesses are not immune (免疫的) to it either. Companies (公司) try hard to improve their market share. However, sometimes the products or services they offer are similar, and they are just competing for a small number of customers (顾客). This kind of involution is typical in the business world.
Involution has both good and bad sides. On the one hand, it can make people improve their abilities. On the other hand, it may cause people to feel too stressed and lose their love for life. So we should try to find a good way of making the most of its advantages and reducing its disadvantages
26.How does the writer start the text?
A.By giving examples. B.By telling a story.
C.By explaining a word. D.By showing some reasons.
27.What’s the common result of involution at school and at work?
A.People take more breaks. B.People feel more stressed and tired.
C.People improve their teamwork skills. D.People become more creative and relaxed.
28.What does the underlined word “they” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A.Companies. B.The products. C. The services. D.Customers.
29.What is the writer’s attitude (态度) towards involution?
A.He thinks people should stop it. B.He advises people to use it well.
C.He is not sure about its effect (影响). D.He thinks it’s necessary for development.
30.Which of the following shows the structure of the text?
A. B.
C. D.

根据“Companies (公司) try hard to improve their market share. However, sometimes the products or services they offer are similar, and they are just competing for a small number of customers (顾客).” 故选A。

He used modern styles, but he painted in a traditional Chinese way.

This plateau is the birthplace of many Chinese rivers and has over 1,000 lakes, with Qinghai Lake being the largest saltwater lake.
In the north of China, we can find the Inner Mongolian Plateau. As the second largest plateau, it’s about 700,000 square kilometres. It lies mostly between 1,000 and 1,200 metres above sea level. The plateau is mostly flat (平坦的) and has wide grassland. 42
The Loess Plateau is the third-largest plateau in our country. It rises between 1,000 and 2,000 metres above sea level. The plateau is covered with the yellowish soil (土壤). 43 Through many studies, some Chinese scientists hold that it was carried by the north wind from the Inner Mongolian Plateau and the Mongolian inland areas over thousands of years.
The Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau is the smallest among the four major plateaus. It mainly spreads over the provinces of Yunnan and Guizhou. The plateau has a great difference in altitude, from 400 to 3,500 metres above sea level, and it goes down from the northwest to the southeast. 44 It has many mountains and valleys (峡谷).
45 Together, they make up the wonderful plateau sight of China.

D“It covers nearly a quarter of the national land area.”

E“You may wonder where the yellowish soil came from.”
A“The plateau is not flat.”
C“These four plateaus each have their own beauty.”

Many people enjoy running in their free time. Running is a good exercise, but some people seldom run. They often say, “Running hurts the knees.” They believe running will cause arthritis (关节炎), making it hard for them to walk when they get old. But is that true?
Well, the truth is that running isn’t bad for your knees if you do it in the right way. In fact, it can keep your knees strong and healthy. A study shows that runners have fewer knee problems than walkers. Why? Running helps build up the muscles and cartilage (肌肉和软骨) around your knee joints (关节). Walking is easier on the knees, but it can’t exercise the muscles and joints as well as running.
Another study on marathon (马拉松) runners found that after the race, their knee cartilage became stronger. They had a smaller chance of developing arthritis than those who never ran at all.
In fact, running itself isn’t bad for our knees. However, the wrong ways can cause problems. First, run with bad form. Taking too big steps or letting your knees bend inward (向内弯曲) are both bad for your knees. Second, overuse the knees. Running too long or too fast each time can cause knee problems. Third, run on hard ground.
But don’t worry. To protect your knees while running, you just need to train in a smart way. Small changes to our running habits can make a big difference.
Is Running Bad for Your Knees?
