A few days ago, I had a fight with my mum. I wanted a new phone because many of my friends had new phones and they often showed them off. But when I asked Mum for one, she said, “No way!”
That made me angry. “Doesn’t my mum love me?” I wondered. So, I stayed in my room and didn’t eat all day. Finally, Mum agreed to get me a new phone—but she would pay 70% of the cost, and I had to pay the rest by selling watermelons with her and Dad. I thought, “How hard could it be?”
But the first day was tough. We got up at 4:00 a.m. and drove 100 kilometres to a watermelon farm. On the way, we felt sleepy, and Dad put cold water on his face to stay awake. When reaching the farm, my parents rushed to pick good watermelons. Then we got over 500 kilograms of watermelons and carried them onto the truck (卡车) one by one.
By noon, we finally made it to the market. It was very hot in the sun, and we were all sweaty (满是汗的). We sold watermelons until 9:30 p.m. I was so tired that I lay on the ground. My mum sat under a streetlight, counting the money again and again. Then she said to me with a big smile, “Son, we made 371 yuan today!” Looking at my mum, I could hardly hold back my tears.
In the end, Mum gave me the money for the phone. But I gave it back. I realized I shouldn’t spend it. This “phone fight” didn’t get me a new phone, but something in my heart changed. Now I know love is never an excuse to take parents’ hard work for granted (认为……理所当然).

C
Every year, around 100 million birds in the UK fly into glass by mistake. Many birds get hurt, and some even die. This problem is very serious for birds and for nature.
Birds see the world differently from humans. They do not understand reflections (映像). When a bird sees a tree or the sky in a window, it thinks they are real. The bird then flies towards it and hits the glass. This can cause great harm to the bird.
Now, one nature reserve (保护区) in England is trying to stop this problem by putting an ultraviolet (UV) film (紫外线薄膜) on windows. The film can make birds see the glass easily, but it is still see-through for humans.
Birds have very smart eyes. They can see UV light, but humans cannot. Putting a UV film on windows is a win-win for humans and birds. To birds, the windows look like a wall, so they can avoid them while flying by. To humans, the windows look normal and clear, so they can keep on looking out of the windows and enjoying the scenery!
A restaurant near the nature reserve uses this film on its floor-to-ceiling (落地式的) windows. This way, people can sit inside and enjoy birdwatching through the windows over the wetlands. Thousands of birds stop over there every year. Anna Cork, who works at the nature reserve, says they are proud to be taking meaningful action to protect their feathered friends.
49. How does the writer start the passage?
A. By telling a story. B. By introducing a fact. C. By giving an example. D. By describing a process.
50. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A. The sky. B. The tree. C. The bird. D. The window.
51. How does the UV film on windows help?
A. It makes glass stronger. B. It protects birds from UV light.
C. It makes glass easier for birds to see. D. It stops people from getting too close to birds.
52. How does Anna Cork probably feel about using the UV film?
A. Positive. B. Worried. C. Curious. D. Sorry.
53. What’s the best title for the passage?
A. Saving Birds from Hitting Windows B. Understanding How Birds See the World
C. Enjoying Birdwatching at a Nature Reserve D. Using a Special UV Film on Restaurant Windows

From friendships to work stress, many Chinese people are now using AI tools like DeepSeek to talk about their problems. They share their feelings with chatbots (聊天机器人) and get warm advice. This is called “AI therapy”, and it’s getting popular online. But can robots really take the place of real therapists (治疗师)?
In 2024, about 45% of the people in the world needed mental (心理上的) health care. But they couldn’t get it because it was too expensive or there weren’t enough doctors. So some experts agree with the idea of AI therapy. Daniel Lowd, an expert at the University of Oregon, believes AI could help. “If people can find support (支持) and ideas by talking to chatbots like ChatGPT, that’s wonderful,” Lowd told Newsweek. Dr. Li Yong from Jiangsu Province Hospital also agreed, saying AI meets people’s needs for emotional (情感的) support.
But there are some problems with using AI for therapy. Human therapists understand feelings better through face-to-face talks and they can make personal treatment plans—something AI can’t fully do. Another problem is safety. AI might act like a therapist without proper training or rules. It can’t be as responsible (负责任的) as human therapists.
Experts say the best way to make AI therapy safe is with strict government (政府) rules. But even with these rules, AI can only provide support. As a saying goes, “Love grows in hearts, not in computers.”
59. What is“AI therapy”?

A. The sky. B. The tree. C. The bird. D. The window.

阅读短文,完成下列题目。
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
60. Why does the writer give the examples of Daniel Lowd and Dr. Li Yong?

61. How many problems with using AI for therapy are mentioned in Paragraph 3?

【解析】
【导语】本文介绍了AI疗法的兴起,分析了其存在的优势与局限。专家指出需政府监管,但AI终究只能辅助,无法取代人类治疗师。

【60题详解】
第二段中Daniel Lowd和Dr. Li Yong的例子紧跟着“So some experts agree with the idea of AI therapy.”展开,是对这一论点的具体阐述。几乎是原文转述。
【61题详解】
根据第三段的内容,使用AI疗法存在的问题包括:“…and they can make personal treatment plans—something AI can’t fully do”,“Another problem is safety...It can’t be as responsible as human therapists.”,共计2条。
【62题详解】
本题实质是将划线句子翻译为中文。“as a saying goes”为固定结构,意为“俗话说”;“ Love grows in…, not in…”意为“爱生长于……,而非于……”;“hearts”意为“内心”,“computers”意为“电脑”,连接句意即可。
