特殊结构:it was + adj. + for sb. to do 和 there be句型高频出现。
· last week, in 2020, ago → 一般过去时 (did)。
· since, for+时间段, recently, so far → 现在完成时 (have/has done)。
· by the end of last ...
时,if 如果,because 因为)。
· decide to do, want to do, be able to do → 记住这些动词后一定要接 to do。
spend... (in) doing / on sth。
· 代词:动词/介词后用宾格 (me/him/her),名词前用形代 (my/his/her)。
时间:in(年/月), on(具体某天), at(时刻)。
方式:by(乘车/通过方式), with(用工具)。

It was a warm morning when I ran to the sea. I dropped my things 1 the beach and jumped in. I was just so glad to be back.
I swam to a rock. I climbed onto it and 2 my head to face the rising sun. 3 a fire in me that burned for the deep blue. It was 4 only place where I felt truly free.
I jumped back and 5 went deeper, with my eyes open. Among a group of fish and 6 sea animals, I noticed a big shell. I took it and swam to the surface. I put 7 on the rock and swam back in. This time I went even deeper, 8 I wasn’t afraid. It was beautiful.
And then I saw 9 moving towards me. It was a shark! I had never seen such a big one in the wild. I 10 by fear. All I’d learned about sharks rushed into my head. I knew I 11 slowly back away, but my curiosity (好奇心) got the best of me. I swam 12 to it, and when it was about five feet away, I got to know it was simply a Caribbean reef shark. They aren’t dangerous, so I decided 13 it quietly. Then it slowly swam away.
Now, more than ever, I understand 14 I love the sea—it 15 full of unknown danger, yet beautiful.

Have you heard of the phrase “tiger moms”? It means mothers who are strict 136 their children. They believe that this encourages kids 137 to become the best they can be.
Many believe that most Asian people often put their children’s studies above 138 else. Western parents, on the other hand, are seen as caring much 139 about their children’s self-esteem (自尊) and feelings.
Of course, 140 truth is not that simple. Every parent has their own way of 141 their child—no matter where they come from. I know one parent in the US 142 takes her daughter to all kinds of after-school activities, 143 her with no time to herself. And there are plenty of Chinese parents who spoil (溺爱) their children. For example, some parents fix their kids’ hair or tie their shoes, even 144 their kids are old enough to do such things.
I think parenting 145 a mix of both strong discipline (管教) and emotional care. My own mother is a good example. She expected me to get high grades and I 146 to take piano lessons. 147 she was also generous about allowing me to have some time to myself to do 148 I wanted. In the end, I felt like 149 a better person because of this. Even those piano lessons that I disliked at first ended up helping me find my love 150 music.

特殊结构:it was + adj. + for sb. to do 和 there be句型高频出现。
· last week, in 2020, ago → 一般过去时 (did)。
· since, for+时间段, recently, so far → 现在完成时 (have/has done)。
· by the end of last ...
时,if 如果,because 因为)。
· decide to do, want to do, be able to do → 记住这些动词后一定要接 to do。
spend... (in) doing / on sth。
· 代词:动词/介词后用宾格 (me/him/her),名词前用形代 (my/his/her)。
时间:in(年/月), on(具体某天), at(时刻)。
方式:by(乘车/通过方式), with(用工具)。

49 I entered the contest room, I saw the judges and some other students. I 50 in a corner, away from everyone else. My mind was racing with doubts. What if I make a mistake and everyone laughs at me? What if the judge stops me halfway? What if...
Everything changed when a student 51 sat in front of me stood up and said, “Sorry, I quit,” before 52 the room. I started to notice 53 students. Some were walking up and down. But now I saw the truth: No one is born 55 good speaker.
What made me feel even 56 was that after the contest began, no one was laughed at or asked to leave for making a mistake. Everyone was paying attention 57 their own speech.
Then it was 58 turn. I gathered my courage and walked onto the stage 59 . My heart was beating fast and sweat rolled down my forehead, 60 I wasn’t afraid of the challenge anymore this time. I told myself quietly what I just needed to do was to speak my mind clearly and that would be enough.
