【答案】6.B 7.C 8.C 9.C 10.A
6.根据第①段“The Sahara Desert covers 11 countries and is over 9 million square kilometers. That’s more than 25% of Africa.”和第②段“37.2℃”、“-0.6℃”、“between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.”、“at 4 a.m.”
7.根据第②段原句“During the day, the hottest time is between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., when the temperature can be up to 37.2℃. But it is very cold at night — the coldest time is at 4 a.m., when the temperature can fall to -0.6℃.”
8.根据第⑤段原句“You can use the mirrors (镜子) from your car to signal to planes and other cars. You can also use your car tyres (轮胎) to make a fire. It will help people find you and keep you warm at night.”

What helps neighbours become friends? Is it living close to each other? Or does the type of neighbourhood matter (要紧) more? Researchers in Sweden studied these questions and found some surprising answers.
The researchers surveyed thousands of people across ten different types of neighbourhoods in Sweden. They wanted to understand how often people interact (互动) with their neighbours—whether they greet them, talk to them, or ask them for help.
The results showed that greeting neighbours is very common (普遍). Most people say hello when they see someone living nearby. However, talking to neighbours happens less often, and asking neighbours for help is not very common.
Interestingly, the study found that the neighbourhood plays a big role. In some neighbourhoods, people have similar ways of life. There, neighbours talk and help each other more often. However, in big cities with many different kinds of people, neighbours often have weaker connections (联系).
The researchers also found that housing type matters. People living in flats interact less with their neighbours than those in houses. Personality plays a role too. People who are more friendly and like to talk often have more neighbourly interactions, while those who are more worried may not connect with people next door .
Why does all this matter? The researchers say that interaction with neighbours is important not only for a person’s happiness but also for a community to work well together. When neighbours care for and help each other, communities become stronger. People feel safer and happier, and the community can face problems better.
▲ As cities become more different and more people live in flats, neighbourly connections may weaken. The researchers say that city planners and community groups should think carefully about how to create ways for neighbours to meet and build friendships.
After all, good neighbours don’t just happen—they grow from the places we live and the small moments we share.
11.How does the writer start the passage?
A.By giving examples of different friends.
B.By telling a story about neighbourhoods.
C.By asking questions about neighbours.
D.By showing surprising answers of a study.
12.What can we learn from the findings of the study?
A.People greet neighbours more often than they ask for help.
B.Neighbourly interactions are the same in all neighbourhoods.
C.People living in flats have more interactions than those in houses.
D.Friendly people usually have fewer neighbourly interactions.
13.What does Paragraph 6 mainly tell us?
A.Helping neighbours is the most important thing in life.
B.Neighbourly interactions help both people and communities.
C.Neighbours should learn to care for and help each other.
D.Facing problems is good for a person’s happiness.
14.Which of the following is the most suitable for ▲ .
A.However, the study also brings worries.
B.Then, the study talks about changes in cities.
C.Finally, the study shows how neighbours help.
D.Surely, the study has some good news for us.
15.Why did the writer write the passage?
A.To study how often people greet their neighbours.
B.To tell people how to move to a good neighbourhood.
C.To help people learn what makes neighbourly connections.
D.To create ways for people to meet and build friendship.

11.原文第一段:“What helps neighbours become friends? Is it living close to each other? Or does the type of neighbourhood matter (要紧) more?”
12.原文第三段:“The results showed that greeting neighbours is very common (普遍). Most people say hello when they see someone living nearby. However, talking to neighbours happens less often, and asking neighbours for help is not very common.”
14.原文第七段:“As cities become more different and more people live in flats, neighbourly connections may weaken.”
D
“For thousands of years, humans have raced to be the first to climb a peak (顶峰) , or record a new species or landscape. Now, sometimes, we’re racing to be the last,” said The New York Times’ Paige McClanahan.
In recent years, last-chance tourism has been growing fast. It is a kind of tourism with the purpose of seeing the last of something due to climate change. As temperatures and water levels rise, this could mean taking the last chance to see the Great Barrier Reef, an Arctic glacier (冰川) and an island that is sinking.
As millions of tourists rush to endangered tourist spots, some people think it is good for improving environmental awareness. One tourist spot, Chamonix’s “ Sea of Ice” in France, opened a glacier museum in 2012 to teach visitors on glaciers and climate change. This push seems to be meaningful, as a 2020 survey showed that 80 percent of the visitors would “try to learn more about the environment and how to protect it”, while 77 percent said they would reduce their water and energy use.
However, the last-chance tourism industry may also be harmful. As more and more people rush into these areas to see them before they’re gone, they in fact increase greenhouse gas emissions (排放) and over-tourism, leading to more harms to the spot.
Many scholars are calling last-chance tourism a paradox (悖论). Although tourists may realize the wider risks and importance of climate change, it’s even more important to connect the responsibility of the personal tourism to climate change of the world.
16.What’s the reason for the fast growth of the last-chance tourism?
A.It is much cheaper, B.It is more valuable.
C.It is more exciting. D.It is much greener.
17.If you are a last-chance tourist, which will you choose to visit?
A.The Louvre Museum in France. B.The Bund in Shanghai.
C.Chamonix’s “the Sea of Ice”. D.The Leaning Tower in Pisa.
18.What is the main idea of the third paragraph?
A.The advantage of the last-chance tourism. B.The bad effect of the last-chance tourism.
C.Different ideas about the last-chance tourism. D.A survey carried out by a glacier museum.
19.What harm will the last-chance tourism finally cause according to the passage?
A.Over-crowded cities. B.Polluted water emissions.
C.The changing climate. D.More harms to the spots.
20.What is the writer’s attitude towards the last-chance tourism?
A.Interested. B.Imaginative C.Objective D.Supportive
【答案】16.B 17.C 18.A 19.D 20.C
16.第二段指出概念“It is a kind of tourism with the purpose of seeing the last of something due to climate change.”

主语是“crayfish in Hunan and seafood porridge in Shantou”,由“and”连接的两个名词短语构成复数主语,因此be动词应用“are”。
此处考查不定式作后置定语,修饰名词“time”,结构为“a time for sb. to do sth.”(某人做某事的时间)。
一起”,应用介词“with”,构成短语“eat with friends”。

Let’s Save Water Together As we all know, water is important to us. Without water, there can be no life. So we must save water.
But in our school, some students are wasting water. Some keep taps running while washing their hands. Some waste drinking water. They throw away half-full bottles. What a waste! We must do something now. Always turn off the tap after washing your hands. Drink from a glass and only take what you need. Don’t play with water.
Small steps can make a big difference. Let’s make every drop count!
