They may scream if you treat them badly, according to an article published in a magazine in Cell. Plants can make sounds when they are stressed. Plants interact with insects and other animals all the time, and many of these insects and animals use sounds for communication, so it would be very inconvenient for plants not to use sounds at all. Lilach Hadany told BBC science focus. With this in mind, the research team started by recording plants sounds. They divided the plants into three groups. One group wasn’t watered for five days, another group had the stems cut off and the last group remained untouched. The microphones caught sounds at a frequency of 40 to 80 kilohertz from the first two groups. The sounds grew louder and louder during the five days of water stress. They then began to decline as the plants dried out. The researchers haven’t yet discovered how the sounds are made. After the experiment, the team gathered the data and made software that could tell how plants feel it could be useful for farmers in monitoring the conditions of their crops. A Some stories take us far away, while others lead us back home. Here, three young readers share the books that stayed with them long after the last page was turned. Each offers a glimpse into a different world. Take a look — you might just discover your next great read. ● Fablehaven by Brandon Mull It is about twins who spend the summer at their grandfather’s nature reserve. Something about it feels a little strange — like there’s more going on than meets the eye. They don’t understand any of the strange rules their grandfather gives them. Little do they know that this is a place for magical creatures. Soon they will learn that the rules are there for a reason. But only once they’re broken... Beatrice C., age 16 ● Five Go Off to Camp by Enid Blyton Four children set off on a camping trip. As they explore the wild countryside, they come across an old, forgotten railway yard. There, a mysterious man called Wooden Leg Sam warns them to stay away. But curiosity gets the better of the young adventurers, and they decide to explore anyway — only to find themselves trapped in a tunnel, where something incredible awaits them. Matilda W., age 17 ● Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls Billy has been longing for a pair of red hounds (猎犬) — a desire his family cannot afford. So, he spends two years taking on any work he can find. The story follows his journey: earning enough, getting his dogs, training them with care, and finally winning a hunting competition. The book tells the unbreakable bond between a boy and his two best friends. However, have a tissue box nearby for the ending. Lucie D., age 17 Do you have a favorite book? But curiosity gets the better of the young adventurers, and they decide to explore anyway — only to find themselves trapped in a tunnel, where something incredible awaits them.(在那里,一个名叫“木腿山姆”的神秘男子警告他们不要靠近。 根据第三本书籍介绍段“However, have a tissue box nearby for the ending.(不过,阅读结局时请准备好纸巾。)” B Li Min, a top finance (金融) student who graduated from Peking University, made an unusual career choice that surpassed expectations. Instead of seeking a finance career, she exchanged her business suit for the clothing of a farmer and went back to her hometown. Her decision was met with doubt, especially from her family who questioned why she would leave the promise of a high-paid career for the uncertainties of farming. In fact, Li Min desired to make agricultural practices modern as she saw the backwardness of traditional farming during the visits to her hometown. Upon returning to her village, Li Min also encountered disbelief from classmates and villagers alike. However, her promise to combine modern technology and new practices with agriculture soon proved transformative, allowing farmers to monitor crop growth through field sensors and smartphones, and make data-based decisions to improve productions and quality. She started with on-site sales of fruits and vegetables. Recognizing the instability (不稳定性) in the supply chain and the need for a more dependable system, Li Min developed the “Lai Cun Wang” rural (乡村的) e-business platform in 2015 to increase sales. By 2023, Li Min’s efforts had reached more areas, establishing over 200 rural service stations and creating jobs for thousands of families. Her contribution to rural development and poverty fighting earned her several awards, including the Henan Innovation Award. Li Min’s story is a powerful reminder that professional success is defined by the strong love for work and devotion one brings to it. Her journey from a finance scholar to an agricultural leader shows how her efforts can bring change, inspire communities and contribute to sustainable development in agriculture. It encourages more students to seek their dreams with strong belief. 24. What made Li Min choose to return to her hometown after graduation? A. Her determination to make a difference to it. B. Her unsuccessful job-hunting experiences. C. A sudden change in her financial conditions. D. Pressure from her family to continue farming. 25. How did Li Min solve the problem in the supply chain? A。 C How is it December already? Where did 2025 go? And how did we suddenly go from eating Easter eggs to putting up Christmas trees? To understand why our feeling of time seems to change, we need to first learn how our brains sense time. The term “time perception (感知)” is actually a bit misleading, because time itself is not something “outside” that we can directly sense. When we see colors, hear sounds, taste flavors or feel touches, special body parts pick up signals from the environment: like light waves entering our eyes, sound waves in our ears, chemicals in food, or the pressure of objects on our skin. But there’s no special part for sensing time — no “time particles (微粒)” that the brain can detect. Our brains don’t feel time directly; they guess it. Just like a clock, the brain judges how much time has passed by following changes. But unlike a clock, it has no regular ticks (滴答声). To guess time, the brain simply counts how many things happen. If you fill your time with interesting activities, it seems to last longer. In experiments, a flashing picture feels longer than a still one of the same time. Brains tell time by tracking changes. This explains why exciting or scary events (like car accidents) make time seem to slow down. In a famous study, people fell backwards into a net from over 30 meters high. When asked how long the experience lasted, they said it was 30% longer than watching others fall. Strong emotions make people pay more attention, so the brain stores more detailed memories. To know why 2025 passed so fast, we need to tell two ways of judging time: looking back (how much time passed) and feeling in the moment (how fast time goes). Waiting at the dentist feels slower than playing with a new toy. The key is what you focus on. The more you pay attention to time itself, the slower it seems to pass. 28. What does the underlined word “detect” in Paragraph 2 probably mean? A. Discover. B. Ignore. C. Doubt. D. Control. 29. How do our brains judge the passing of time? A. By picking up special “time particles”. B. By following the regular ticks like a clock. C. By sensing the number of things that happen. D. By feeling the pressure from the environment. 30. Why is the famous study mentioned in Paragraph 4? A. To show falling from high places is scary. B. To show people often misjudge time in danger. C. To prove watching others fall takes more time. D. To prove strong emotions slow time perception. 31. What is the main idea of the passage? A. How people make time pass slowly. B. What time perception studies tell us. C. Why our perception of time changes. D. When people sense time going quickly. A 29. C 30. D 31. 根据第二段中“But there’s no special part for sensing time — no “time particles (微粒)” that the brain can detect. 故选A。 29. 根据第三段中“To guess time, the brain simply counts how many things happen. 第四段首句“This explains why exciting or scary events (like car accidents) make time seem to slow down. ,随后“In a famous study, people fell backwards into a net from over 30 meters high. When asked how long the experience lasted, they said it was 30% longer than watching others fall. Strong emotions make people pay more attention, so the brain stores more detailed memories. 第一段中“To understand why our feeling of time seems to change, we need to first learn how our brains sense time. C。 D The more languages you speak, the less likely you are to experience “faster ageing”, a study has suggested. It found that those who could know more than one language are less likely to run the risk of growing old before their time. Researchers took survey data from 86,149 people aged between 51 and 90 in 27 European countries. They compared their real age to their “biological age” based on a host of lifestyle factors, assessing their cognitive (认知的) abilities, their physical abilities and their history of conditions such as high blood pressure and heart disease, and their weight, alcohol consumption and sleep quality. They found that those who spoke more than one language were likely to have a smaller “gap” between their real and their biological age, while those who spoke only one language were more likely to have a biological age older than their true age, suggesting that they were not ageing well. A limitation of the study is that it didn’t look at the level of fluency in the languages spoken, so could not differentiate between “a person who once studied another language in school and someone who uses multiple languages daily”, Rothman and Gallo wrote. However, this limitation helps to illustrate the protective effects of multilingualism (多语种化), they added, noting that it “demonstrates that the protective effect generalises” across whole populations. It is not clear whether it is the process of learning a new language that produces a protective effect, or the mental effort needed to maintain fluency in more than one tongue and to switch between them in regular use. This would show how beneficial it would be for someone to start learning a new language in later life. Encouraging the learning of languages among children and ensuring that people are still able to speak their native languages when moving abroad could be key in promoting a healthier society, the scientists added. “If multilingualism builds resilience (适应力) against ageing, then encouraging additional language learning in schools, protecting immigrant and minoritised languages could be as important as campaigns that promote physical activity,” they said. 32. What does the assessment of “biological age” in the study focus on? A. Lifestyle indicators. B. Sleeping habits. C. Family medical records. D. Educational background. 33. What is the limitation of the study according to the passage? A. Its research area is limited to European countries. B. Its conclusion may not apply to younger populations. C. It failed to consider the participants’ academic performance. D. It did not assess how fluently participants spoke their languages. 34. Why do scientists compare multilingualism with physical activity in the last paragraph? A. To emphasize the challenges in promoting it. B. To highlight its importance for public health. C. To suggest it requires continuous mental effort. D. To prove it should be encouraged from childhood. 35. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Language Acquisition Strengthens the Brain B. Multilingualism Contributes to Mental Health C. Studying in Later Life Influences Biological Age D. Speaking More Languages may Slow Down Ageing 【答案】32. A 33. D 34. B 35. 根据第二段“They compared their real age to their ‘biological age’ based on a host of lifestyle factors, assessing their cognitive (认知的) abilities, their physical abilities and their history of conditions such as high blood pressure and heart disease, and their weight, alcohol consumption and sleep quality.(他们根据一系列生活方式因素,将他们的实际年龄与“生理年龄”进行了比较,评估了他们的认知能力、身体能力以及高血压和心脏病等疾病史,以及他们的体重、饮酒量和睡眠质量。)” 故选A。 33. 根据第四段“A limitation of the study is that it didn’t look at the level of fluency in the languages spoken, so could not differentiate between “a person who once studied another language in school and someone who uses multiple languages daily”, Rothman and Gallo wrote.(Rothman和 Gallo写道,这项研究的一个局限性是:它没有考察语言的流利程度,因此无法区分“曾经在学校学过另一门语言的人”和“每天使用多种语言的人”。)” 根据最后一段““If multilingualism builds resilience (适应力) against ageing, then encouraging additional language learning in schools, protecting immigrant and minoritised languages could be as important as campaigns that promote physical activity,” they said.(他们说:‘如果说多语种化能够增强抵御衰老的能力,那么在学校鼓励学习更多的语言,保护移民和少数族裔的语言,可能与促进体育活动的运动同样重要。”)” 通读全文呢,尤其是根据第一段“The more languages you speak, the less likely you are to experience “faster ageing”, a study has suggested. It found that those who could know more than one language are less likely to run the risk of growing old before their time.(一项研究表明,你会说的语言越多,就越不可能经历“加速衰老”。 因此,D项“Speaking More Languages may Slow Down Ageing(说多种语言可能减缓衰老)”是最合适的标题。 As students face heavy study tasks and frequent exams, many struggle with complex learning psychology. Some feel stressed easily, while others often delay their study plans and then blame themselves. 36 Instead of ignoring these feelings, learning to deal with them properly is the key to better study efficiency. A common psychological problem among students is exam anxiety. When exams are coming, many students feel nervous, can’t sleep well or even fail to focus on review. 37 Deep breathing, positive self-talk and reasonable review schedules can help calm their nerves and build confidence. 38 Some students often put off homework or revision until the last minute, even though they know it will lead to more pressure. The root of this problem is usually the fear of failure or a lack of clear study goals, rather than pure laziness. Realizing this can help students stop blaming themselves and solve the problem positively. Lack of learning motivation is another troubling mental state. Some students feel bored with study and don’t know why they should keep working hard. 39 Setting small, achievable goals and rewarding themselves for finishing tasks can gradually bring back their passion for learning. 40 Students should accept their emotions and turn to teachers, parents or friends for help when necessary. By adjusting their mindset properly, they can improve not only their grades but also their mental health. A. It is unwise to stay up late for exam review. B. Another widespread problem is academic delay. C. These mental troubles are actually very common. D. But there are simple ways to overcome this anxiety. E. Most students prefer to solve problems by themselves. F. In fact, dealing with study psychology is not that difficult. G. This is because they have lost their sense of achievement in study. 36. My dance shoes were nowhere to be found. For a moment, I could hardly hide a smile — finally, an excuse not to go to the tiring practice! However, Mom drove straight to the studio (练功房). “Ms. Linda keeps some spare dance shoes,” she reminded gently. I took a deep breath, walked in unwillingly and fished out a pair. “Only four weeks remain before the holiday performance,” Ms. Linda told the class. “We must focus and work hard.” My heart dropped, and the memory of last year’s stage failure flashed back — I was unable to move and breathe properly under bright lights. That night, I begged Mom to let me quit. Surprisingly, she didn’t force me to keep going. Instead, she said quietly, “It’s your decision, Kami. But have you thought about your partner? Can she make it without you?” “She won’t mind,” I said, “She probably doesn’t even know my name.” The next Friday, Mom picked me up from school. As we drove away, she asked if I wanted to attend the dance class. “No,” I whispered, “Not today.” “Okay,” Mom nodded understandingly. I breathed easy, sure that I had made the right choice, thinking no one would notice one absent dancer in the crowded studio. On Saturday, during a shopping trip, I unexpectedly ran into my dance partner at checkout. “Hi, Kami!” she called cheerfully. I stood still, my face red, and realized I didn’t even know her name until she introduced herself as Sylvia. Then her smile disappeared. “I missed you yesterday. Honestly, I’m frightened about the show. My grandma is flying in just to watch, and I fear that I’ll mess up our paired moves.” What she said struck me. I knew I was not the only one who was afraid all the time. Dance was not only my hard thing; it was our common fight. Looking at her worried face, I felt a sudden increase of determination inside me. _______________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The day of the holiday performance finally came. ________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Looking at her worried face, I felt a sudden increase of determination inside me. “You are not alone,” I promised, gripping her trembling hand. “We’ll conquer the stage together.” Realizing that Sylvia depended on me, I found the courage to face my fear. We spent the remaining weeks glued to the studio floor, repeating every step until our movements flowed smoothly. We corrected each other’s errors and celebrated small victories. The anxiety that once held me back was replaced by a sense of responsibility. We were no longer two strangers; we were a team, drawing strength from one another to perfect our routine before the big moment. The day of the holiday performance finally came. Stepping onto the stage, I felt the familiar heat of the bright lights, but this time, I didn’t freeze. I took a deep breath, looking at Sylvia. She offered a determined and brave nod. Then the music began. We moved as one body, our feet gliding across the wooden floor with grace. Every turn was correct; every jump was high. When we finished our final move, loud cheers rose from the audience. Spotting Sylvia’s grandmother smiling in the front row, I realized that true success wasn’t about avoiding fear, but sharing the challenge with a friend. 词汇激活 行为类 ①握紧她颤抖的手:grip her trembling hand/clasp her trembling hand firmly ②纠正错误:correct each other’s errors/rectify mistakes/fix the mistakes ③完成最后一个动作:finish our final move/complete the last move/accomplish the final move 情绪类 ①焦虑:anxiety/worry/unease ②勇气:courage/bravery/pluck 【点睛】【高分句型1】Realizing that Sylvia depended on me, I found the courage to face my fear. Text one, are you free? It is full of actions. D. It is heart-breaking. 23. Where is this passage most likely taken from? A. A teenage magazine. B. A travel website. C. An adventure novel. D. A history textbook. B Li Min, a top finance (金融) student who graduated from Peking University, made an unusual career choice that surpassed expectations. A. Through government funds. B. Through mass production. C. Through experienced farmers. D. Through Internet technology. 26. Which of the following can best describe Li Min? A. Generous but hesitant. B. Big-headed and energetic. C. Far-sighted and creative. D. Traditional but independent. 27. What can we learn from the text? A. Passion counts in our professions. B. Success comes from full preparations. C. Taking others’ advice is key for job choices. D. Career achievements depend on family support. C How is it December already? D The more languages you speak, the less likely you are to experience “faster ageing”, a study has suggested. Speaking More Languages may Slow Down Ageing As students face heavy study tasks and frequent exams, many struggle with complex learning psychology. While many grandmothers would be content to stay home and enjoy a relaxed retirement, Nancy is taking a vastly 41 approach to her golden years. _____________ _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The day of the holiday performance finally came. _____________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 12 / 12 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $学校 班级 姓名 准考证号 密 封 线 9 台 出 请一林《快山高限:为)博1二分)少5分) [AJIBJICJID] 44 [AJ[BI[C][D] 43 [A][BJ[C][D] [AJ[BI[CJ[D] [AJ[BI[CJ[D] [AJ[BJICI[DI 24 [AJ[B][CI[D] [AJ[BJICJ[D] 21 [A][B][C][D] 5 [AJ[B]IC] 4 [A][B][C] 3 [A][B][C] 2 [A][B][CI 1 [AJ[B][C] (O AN 3 盖速喜量(请全各成摄防务分全务) 50 IA]IB]ICI[D] 幼48 47 [AJ[BJ[C][D] 46 [A][B][C][D] 30 [A][B][C][D] 29 [AJ[BI[CI[D] 28 [A][B][C][D] 27 [AJ[B][CJ[D] 26 [AJ[B][C][D] 10 IAJIB]IC] 9 [AJIB]IC] 8 [A][B][C] [AJ[BIICI 6 [A][BJ[C] @N 00 OIA WN 0 8 00 Un 出 55 [A][BJ[CI[D] 54 [A][B][C][D] 5 [A][BJ[CI[D] 5 [AJ[B][CJ[DI 51 [AJ[B][CI[DI 35 [AJ[B][CI[D] 34 [AJ[B][CJ[D] 33 [A][B][C][D] 32 [A][B][CI[D] 31 [A][B][C][D] 15 [A][B][C] 14 [A][B][C] 13 [A][B][C] 12 [AJ[B][C] 11 [A][B][C] 火流、限了。 0 或 出 咪 9 40 [AJ[BJICI[D][EJ[FJ[G] 38 [AJ[BJ[CJ[D][EJ[FJ[G] 37 [AJ[BIICJID][EJ[FJ[G] 36 [AJ[BJ[CJ[D][EJ[FJ[G] 20 [A][B]IC] 19 [A][B][C] 18 [AJ[B][C] 17 [AJ[B][C] 16 [AJ[B][C] 2. 第四部分写作(共两节,满分40分) 第一节(满分15分) Campus Science Festival 第二节(满分25分) Looking at her worried face,I felt a sudden increase of determination inside me. B Li Min, a top finance (金融) student who graduated from Peking University, made an unusual career choice that surpassed expectations. A. Through government funds. B. Through mass production. C. Through experienced farmers. D. Through Internet technology. 26. Which of the following can best describe Li Min? A. Generous but hesitant. B. Big-headed and energetic. C. Far-sighted and creative. D. Traditional but independent. 27. What can we learn from the text? A. Passion counts in our professions. B. Success comes from full preparations. C. Taking others’ advice is key for job choices. D. Career achievements depend on family support. C How is it December already? D The more languages you speak, the less likely you are to experience “faster ageing”, a study has suggested. Speaking More Languages may Slow Down Ageing As students face heavy study tasks and frequent exams, many struggle with complex learning psychology. G. ____________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The day of the holiday performance finally came. ____________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第11页(共12页) 试题 第12页(共12页) 试题 第1页(共10页) 试题 第2页(共10页) 学 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
