The son and his wife became irritated with the mess. “We must do something,” the son said one day. “I’ve had enough of the mess.” So the couple set a small table in the corner. His four-year-old grandson watched everything in silence. One evening before dinner, the father saw his little boy playing with some wood on the floor. “What are you making?” he asked kindly. “Oh, I’m making little bowls for you and Mama to eat from when I grow up,” the boy replied. The Peony Pavilion (《牡丹亭》), one of its most famous works, was written in 1598 by Tang Xianzu. It tells the story of Du Liniang, a young woman from a rich family. She dies for love after dreaming of a romantic meeting with the scholar Liu Mengmei, and later comes back to life when he finds her. A youth version (青年版) of The Peony Pavilion was first shown in Taipei 22 years ago. This is a great work of Kunqu Opera. On January 15, 2026, a special “campus (校园) youth” version was performed for the first time in Taiwan, China. This campus version is a shortened performance of the nine-hour youth show. It came from a project started in 2024 to ask young people to join in protecting Kunqu. The project selected 50 students from 29 universities with little professional Kunqu training. They practiced for nearly nine months and performed the campus version in Suzhou, Kunqu’s birthplace, in April 2025. Young people have always been the main listeners of the youth version. Since its first show, the youth version has been performed at over ten universities. “Our goal is to help college students enjoy the beauty of Kunqu, so they can feel closer to traditional Chinese culture,” said 88-year-old Pai Hsien-yung, the art director of the project. In fact, this campus version brings fresh energy to the classic The Peony Pavilion, allowing the ancient art of Kunqu to reach young people and gain new life. 11. Who wrote the great work The Peony Pavilion? A. Tang Xianzu. B. Du Liniang. C. Liu Mengmei. D. Pai Hsien-yung. 12. What does the underlined word “This” refer to in paragraph 2? A. The 2026 campus version. B. The art of Kunqu Opera itself. C. The story between Du and Liu. D. The youth version of The Peony Pavilion. 13. What is special about the campus youth version? A. It is shorter than the youth version. B. It was performed by professional actors. C. It was first shown in Suzhou. D. It is mainly enjoyed by common people. 14. Why did Pai Hsien-yung start the 2024 project? A. To let students perform a shorter campus show. B. To train professional Kunqu actors for the future. C. To encourage young people to protect and pass on Kunqu. D. To make young people enjoy traditional Chinese opera. 15. What is the best title for the passage? A. The Story of The Peony Pavilion B. A New Life of a Kunqu Classic C. How to Become a Kunqu Actor D. Even if you don’t want to spend a lot or care too much about what others wear, sometimes it’s hard not to compare. Don’t worry. ____16____ Shift the focus (转移焦点) Don’t judge a product by its brand name. Brands often charge more for the name, not for better quality. ____17____ For example, a ¥500 T-shirt may feel the same as a ¥50 one. You might be surprised by what you find. Enjoy what you have Look at your clothes in the closet (衣橱). Think about where you got them and the memories they hold. Often, what we already own means more than anything else. Spend wisely ____18____ Every family has a budget (预算). As a family member, it’s important to use money in ways that help everyone. Wear your confidence ____19____ Stand tall, smile warmly, and speak kindly. People will remember how you act after they forget what you wore. ____20____ Don’t buy brand-name clothes just to fit in. Real friendship isn’t based on what you wear. If someone only likes you for your clothes, are they really your friends? A. Here is some advice. B. Think about friendship. C. Forget about appearance. D. Look for cheaper clothes that are still nice and comfortable. E. This kind of confidence comes from inside, not from your clothes. F. Remember that your spending affects your whole family, not just yourself. We often hear that setting clear goals is the key to success. For years, I kept setting goals and sometimes I succeeded, but I often failed. Later, I realized results depend more on daily systems (系统) than on goals themselves. Goals show us the right direction, but daily systems help us make real progress. We will face many problems if we only care about goals but ignore (忽视) building good daily systems. First, goals can’t tell winners apart from losers, since they share the same goals. Every athlete wants an Olympic gold medal, but only those who improved their daily training systems won. Second, reaching a goal only changes life temporarily (暂时地). If you clean a messy room but keep bad habits, the mess will return. You end up with the same result because you didn’t change the system behind it. Also, goals limit happiness. We think we’ll be happy only after reaching a goal, but we can be happy anytime we’re working on our system. Finally, a goal-focused mindset can lead to a “yo-yo” effect. Runners stop training after finishing a race, but systems keep us improving long-term. In short, goals give short-term direction, but a good system will always win in the end. 21. ________ 22. ________ 23. ________ 24. ________ 25. A Nowadays, AI and new technology are developing fast. 【3题详解】 文中建议:“LESS DRIVING MORE WALKING”,“LESS ANGER MORE LAUGHTER”。 C项“Mary walks to school and laughs very often.” 【4题详解】 文中明确指出:“Living a balanced life is important for our health and study.” 【5题详解】 全文围绕身心健康展开,涉及饮食、情绪、作息等身心平衡的内容,文中提到“Living a balanced life is important for our health and study.”以及“...some useful tips to help us stay healthy and happy.” B An old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year-old grandson. To make it easier for him to hold. B. To stop dishes from breaking. C. To show their love for him. D. To match the small table. 8. What can we infer from the grandson’s words in paragraph 4? A. Respect the old, and love the young. D. Children are the mirror of their parents. A 7. B 8. B 9. D 10. 【6题详解】 文中第二段提到“The son and his wife became irritated with the mess.”。 【7题详解】 文中第三段明确说明“His food was served in a wooden bowl so he wouldn’t break any more dishes.” 【8题详解】 第四段中孙子说“Oh, I’m making little bowls for you and Mama to eat from when I grow up.” 【9题详解】 文中第四段提到,当孙子说出那番话后“His words deeply touched the parents.”,并且“Though no one spoke, both knew what to do.” 这正体现了“Children are the mirror of their parents.” C Kunqu (昆曲) was added to UNESCO’s World Intangible Cultural Heritage (联合国教科文组织的世界非物质文化遗产) list in 2001. 11. 【11题详解】 第一段原文指出“The Peony Pavilion...was written in 1598 by Tang Xianzu”,明确作者是Tang Xianzu。 【12题详解】 第二段提到“A youth version of The Peony Pavilion was first shown in Taipei 22 years ago”,后文“This is a great work of Kunqu Opera”,因此This指代前文提到的《牡丹亭》青年版本。 【13题详解】 第三段写明“This campus version is a shortened performance of the nine-hour youth show”,说明校园版本比青年版篇幅更短。 【14题详解】 第三段原文“It came from a project started in 2024 to ask young people to join in protecting Kunqu”,以及尾段“help college students enjoy the beauty of Kunqu”,项目初衷是号召年轻人保护、传承昆曲。 In daily life you may notice that some of your classmates wear brand-name (名牌) clothes, and it might make you want them too. A 17. D 18. F 19. E 20. A“Here is some advice.” D“Look for cheaper clothes that are still nice and comfortable.” F“Remember that your spending affects your whole family, not just yourself.” E“This kind of confidence comes from inside, not from your clothes.” 选项B“Think about friendship.” We often hear that setting clear goals is the key to success. 【21题详解】 根据文中第二段“First, goals can’t tell winners apart from losers since they share the same goals.” We think we’ll be happy only after reaching a goal”可知,目标让我们等到达成目标后才会开心,也就是让我们等待着开心,所以填happy。 【24题详解】 原文第四段提到“If you clean a messy room but keep bad habits, the mess will return.”,说明系统能帮助我们保持良好习惯,所以填habits。 【25题详解】 从“Goal show us the right direction”可知,目标为我们指明方向,也就是告诉我们要去哪里,direction有“方向”的意思,所以填direction。 A Nowadays, AI and new technology are developing fast. Some students worry that technology will take the place of humans one day. ____26____, this is not true. Technology is only a ____27____ tool. It can save time and help us work better. But it can never take the place of human creativity, clear thinking and ____28____. The talented people in the future must have both skills and good qualities. We should learn to use AI ____29____, and at the same time, keep reading, thinking and caring for others. In a word, technology can help us, but not ____30____ us. Future talents should have AI skills in one hand and human spirit in the other. Only in this way can we be truly valuable and special. 26. A. Therefore B. Besides C. However D. Otherwise 27. A. useful B. necessary C. wonderful D. simple 28. A. happiness B. friendship C. kindness D. patience 29. A. carefully B. freely C. quickly D. wisely 30. A. serve B. control C. follow D. harm 【答案】26. C 27. A 28. C 29. D 30. However(然而)表转折,符合语境。Therefore(因此)表因果、Besides(此外)表递进、Otherwise(否则)表条件,均不符合逻辑。 necessary(必要的)语气过重,wonderful(极好的)偏向主观夸赞,simple(简单的)与后文的功能描述不符。 happiness(幸福)、friendship(友谊)、patience(耐心)均无法与上下文的人文关怀形成强对应。 carefully(仔细地)、freely(自由地)、quickly(快速地)均无法体现“理性使用、趋利避害”的语境。 serve(服务)与 “帮助” 语义同向,follow(跟随)、harm(伤害)均不符合“科技取代人类、主导人类”的核心讨论。 B “Love you, laoji” is now very popular on social media. It basically means “love yourself”. ____31____ do young people like this phrase? Partly because it sounds like talking to an old friend—warm and a little funny. This friendly tone is a great start for learning to ____32____ yourself. So, how can you love “laoji”? First, talk to ____33____ the way you talk to your best friend. Choose kindness over criticism (批评). Instead of thinking “Why am I so stupid?”, try “I did my best, and I’ll do ____34____ next time.” Write down good things you did each day before bed. For example, “I finished my homework on time today—very good.” or “I stayed calm and avoided fights—well done!” This habit helps you feel loved ____35____. You can also make your own “energy list”. ____36____ some sunlight, take a warm bath, go for a walk, or listen to music. Pick one or two small things each day to cheer yourself up. Loving yourself also means learning to say “____37____”. Stay away from relationships that drain (耗尽) your energy, environments that hold you back, or situations that make you doubt whether you matter. This doesn’t mean being selfish (自私). It means understanding that protecting your ____38____ is the first step to truly loving yourself. Finally, reflect ____39____. Take 20 minutes to ask yourself: “What did I need but didn’t get this week? What helped me grow? How do I want to care for myself next week?” Write down your answers. This helps you ____40____ your real needs instead of just following others. “Love you, laoji” teaches us to be our own best friend. So why not start today? 31. A. how B. where C. Why D. When 32. A. care for B. look at C. think of D. talk to 33. A. myself B. herself C. yourself D. ourselves 34. A. faster B. better C. harder D. earlier 35. A. quickly B. suddenly C. secretly D. truly 36. A. Enjoy B. Take C. Find D. Have 37. A. yes B. no C. hello D. sorry 38. A. confidence B. health C. peace D. worth 39. A. daily B. weekly C. monthly D. yearly 40. A. understand B. remember C. express D. hide 【答案】31. C 32. A 33. C 34. B 35. D 36. A 37. B 38. D 39. B 40. 根据后文“Take 20 minutes to ask yourself...” Yan Hongsen, who is called “rocket boy”, is a 13-year-old student in Zhejiang Province.
