26.A推理判断题。根据第三段中的“I did step out of my comfort zone(舒
适区)by..so it wasn't really that much of a problem”可知,作者走出了
舒适区,尽管他不习惯要求别人捐赠,但是他知道这些钱是用来帮助别人
的,故选A。

32.D推理判断题。根据第一段中的“The study,published in Nature.,
choose the most creative idea”可知,这项研究包括了602人,他们被随机
分组。再根据第二段中的“Some pairs were asked,.choosing the best
idea”可知,一些组被要求一起通过视频通话工作,而另一些则面对面工

结果。
33.C推理判断题。根据第二段中的“The results showed that the in-person
groups had more ideas than the virtual pairs'”可知,面对面组比虚拟组有
更多的想法;再根据第四段中的“The results were similar..product

小组适合做一些创造性的工作。A项,根据第二段中的“the virtual pairs
were better at choosing the best idea”和第四段中的“and the virtual.,
which idea to choose”可知,虚拟组更擅长做决定,因此A项与文章传递
的信息相悖,属于“张冠李戴”。B项,根据第三段中的“The in-person

【范文赏读】
In my opinion, classroom teaching is better. The reasons are as follows.
First of all, online teaching may affect learning results as it requires
students to have relatively high self-control.Secondly,fixing our eyes on the
phones or computers for a long time will harm our eyesight. In addition,
since we can't communicate with our teachers face to face,it may be difficult
for us to understand what the teacher explains.
To sum up,I prefer classroom teaching to online teaching, for through
classroom teaching I can concentrate and study more efficiently.

Last year at Chicago Academy High School I joined in the Leukemia &Lymphoma Society's walk
-a-thon.I was glad I chose it as a service learning project. We walked around the neighborhood
according to the map we were offered earlier.I chose to serve this organization because I wanted to
help the people who have leukemia and lymphoma.I felt that raising 40 dollars and walking 3 miles
was the least I could do for the children who have to go through all the medical treatments.
This service learning project did not connect any of my 7 classes, although it did allow me to
work on my communication skills in a way.It would have been boring to just walk and not to talk to
anyone,so I was talking to people while I was walking. The whole experience was positive.I thought
that a group of students coming together for this cause was great. The only negative thing I could
think of would probably be the cold.I'll make sure of bringing a scarf next year.
The project was not very demanding(难度大的).I did step out of my comfort zone(舒适区)by
asking others to donate to the Leukemia &Lymphoma Society.I'm not very used to asking others for
money, but I knew the money was for others so it wasn't really that much of a problem.
The experience taught me that there are a lot of diseases people don't know about, and we should
all learn about them so we can better help each other. This project taught me what both of these
diseases were.I believe if more people know what these diseases are and how they affect others, they
will surely want to help as much as they could.
24.Why did the author take part in the project?
A.To spread knowledge about the diseases.
B.To receive the medical treatment.
C.To improve his communication skills.
D.To collect money for sick children.

How many times a day do you check your email? When you wake up?Before bed?A dozen times
in between? The technology that was supposed to make our lives simple has taken up too much time.
The average teen spends more than seven hours a day using technological devices, with an additional
hour just text-messaging friends.
The advantage of technological devices is connectedness.Email lets us respond on the go,and we
are in touch with more people during more hours of the day than at any other time in history. But is it
possible that we're lonelier than ever, too? That's what MIT professor Sherry Turkle observes in her
new book,Alone Together, which clearly describes our changing relationship with technology.
For Turkle, the biggest worry is the effect the weak connections have on our development.
Technology isn't offering us the lives we want to live."We're texting people at a distance,"says
Turkle."We're using lifeless objects to convince ourselves that even when we're alone,we feel
together. And then when we're with each other,we put ourselves in situations where we are alone-
always on our mobile devices. It's what I call a perfect storm of confusion about what's important in
our human connections.
Moreover, communicating online is not equal to face-to-face communication.Online, you can
ignore others'feelings. In a text message, you can avoid eye contact.A number of studies have found
that this generation of young people is less sympathetic(有同情心的)than ever.“That doesn't lead
to disaster,"says Turkle,"but the disadvantages still cannot be ignored."
28.From the first paragraph we can learn that
A.email checking helps people wake up early
B.people communicate mainly by text-messaging now
C.technological device production has been simplified
D.using technological devices costs young men much time

A.Positive.
B.Negative.
C.Hopeless.
D.Uncertain.
31.What is the passage mainly about?

(科学探究)Many companies have moved online because of COVID-l9,with work meetings
around the world taking place virtually instead of in the office. But a recent study has found that
online meetings may affect creative thinking. The study, published in Nature, included 602 people who
were divided into random pairs. Each pair was given five minutes to think of creative uses for an item
such as a Frisbee, and then one minute to choose the most creative idea.
Some pairs were asked to work together on a video call(virtual groups),while others worked in
person(in-person groups). The results showed that the in-person groups had more ideas than the
virtual pairs. However, the virtual pairs were better at choosing the best idea. The researchers also
used eye-tracking technology to see whether focusing on a screen can affect a participant's()
creativity.
Teams working together virtually spent more time looking directly at each other and remembered
less of their surroundings (when asked later. The in-person pairs spent more time looking
around the room, but they had more ideas.
The researchers did the same study with 1,490 engineers. The pairs were asked to think of new
product ideas and choose one as an idea for their company. The results were similar to the first study,
with the engineers who met in person thinking of more product ideas, and the virtual pairs making
slightly better decisions about which idea to choose.
Study author Melanie Brucks said that while she thinks the future of work is hybrid(混合的),the
results suggest that businesses should think carefully about which tasks can be done online, and
which-like thinking of new ideas-should be done in person.

33.What is suitable for the in-person pairs to do according to the study?

B.Changing their surroundings.
C.Doing some creative jobs.
D.Communicating with people.
34.What can we infer from Melanie Brucks'words?

"I don't want to go."Maria moved her feet slightly.Mom continued packing a bag."We're going
to Uncle Rich's farm in Montana for summer vacation. He's your father's brother, and we go there
every year.
Maria stormed out of her mom's room and said angrily,"Nobody ever thinks of me!""That's
enough.We're going,"replied Mom angrily,too.
Their August vacation came sooner than Maria wanted. Before she knew it,she and her family
were at Uncle Rich's farm.Uncle Rich grabbed her dad and hugged him."Good to see you,"said
Uncle Rich.Maria's brother and sister were twins and two years younger,so they didn't realize what
an inconvenience and bore being on a farm was. They raced to see animals.Maria grabbed her bag.
“T'm going to my room,”she told her parents.
“Wait a minute,Maria,”said Uncle Rich.“I have got something to show you..”“You come too,”
he said to Maria's parents.At the barn,Maria saw a horse.It was of medium size.It had a fine,soft
black coat and one white foot. There was a wide white patch()that ran down the center of its
face.Maria fell in love with it at first sight..“Wow!What a horse!”
"He's a mustang,"said Uncle Rich."Mustangs are free horses who live in the wild.We found
him stuck in the mud down by the river.I didn't know how he got there. My friend and I roped him
and managed to get him out. This mustang is a beauty."
Maria asked,"Can I help care for him?"Then she felt her heart beating in expectation.
Uncle Rich laughed."You bet!The more hands we have, the better.Just don't get too attached
()Once we're sure he's okay,we will have to set him free.Mustangs went from over a million at
the beginning of the 20th century to less than 17,000 in 1970.They were hunted illegally for meat.
Paragraph 1:
Hearing this,Maria felt her stomach turn.
Paragraph 2:
She hurried back to the barn in a flash, and the mustang walked over to her slowly.
