One early morning, I went into the living room to find my mother reading a thick book called Best Loved Poems to Read Again and Again. I was only interested in the word “Poems” that appeared in big, hot pink letters.
“Is it good?” I asked her.
“Yeah,” she answered. “There’s one I really like and you’ll like it, too.” I leaned (倾斜) forward.
“Patty Poem,” she read the title. “Who is Patty?” I wondered. The poem began:
She never puts her toys away,
Just leaves them in a mess where they lay. ...
The poem was just three short sections. The final one came quickly:
When she grows and gathers poise (稳重),
I’ll miss her harum-scarum (莽撞的) noise,
And look helplessly for scattered (散乱的) ▲ .
And I’ll be sad.
A terrible deep sadness washed over me. Whoever Patty was, she was a mean girl. Then, the shock.
“It’s you, honey,” My mother said sadly.
To my mother, the poem showed a parent’s love when her child grows up and leaves. To me, the “she” in the poem was horror. It was my mama who would be sad. It was so terrible I broke into tears.
“What’s wrong?” my mother asked.
“Oh Mama,” I cried. “I don’t want to grow up ever!”
She smiled. “Honey, it’s okay. You’re not growing up anytime soon. And when you do, I’ll still love you, okay?”
“Okay,” I was still crying. My fear has gone. But I could not help thinking about that silly poem. After what seemed like a safe amount of time, I read the poem again and was confused (困惑的). It all fit so well together, like a puzzle. The language was simple, so simple I could clearly understand its meaning, yet it was still beautiful. I was now attracted by the idea of poetry (诗歌), words that had the power to make or break a person’s world.
I have since fallen in love with other poems, but “Patty Poem” remains my poem. After all, “Patty Poem” gave me my love for poetry—not because it was the poem that lifted my spirits, but because it was the one that hurt me the most.
34. Which is the most suitable word for the ▲ ?
A. secrets B. toys C. coats D. trousers
35. Why did the writer’s mother like to read “Patty Poem”?
A. It was created by a famous poet who is her mother’s friend.
B. It described what she was like when she herself was a child.
C. It made her realize what would happen when her child grew up.
D. It was written in simple language that could be easily understood.
36. What’s the best title of the passage?
A. The Sadness of a Poem B. The Power of Poetry
C. My Fear of Growing Up D. A Mother’s Love for Her Child
C
For most tourists, travel is often about visiting famous places, buying souvenirs (纪念品), and following well-planned timetables. However, for China’s Gen Z, the meaning of travel has changed. They don’t just want to enjoy the sightseeing. Instead, they see travel as a way to express themselves and have special experiences to show who they are. Tourist areas are now paying more attention to young travellers’ feelings and needs.
This change has been noticed. Dai Bin, the president of the China Tourism Academy, points out that young people in China now travel to “please themselves” rather than “please others”. Their feelings matter more than just visiting famous places. Trends (趋势) like planning their own trips and designing their own experiences are becoming popular. They want to move faster, go further, and explore more freely.
Take the ice and snow tourism as an example. Young travellers are no longer happy with simply enjoying the views of snow—they want to join in ice and snow activities. During the winter season in Harbin, besides the traditional snow and ice art, going down ice slides, enjoying music parties at ice and snow theme parks are becoming more and more popular. Tourist areas need to change their plans to follow the direction of travelling habits.
Hengdian World Studios in Zhejiang Province is a big movie-making place. It attracts young visitors by letting them experience what it’s like to be in a movie. With activities like “Step into the Movies”, visitors can see how movies are made from start to finish. The studios use famous scenes from movies and TV shows to create fun experiences, making their visit more exciting and fun, like they are part of a movie.
The growth of immersive (沉浸式的) travel is not just about movie experiences. In Luoyang, Henan Province, young travellers wear Hanfu to feel like part of history. Local families work with traditional skilled artists to offer workshops where visitors can learn skills like paper-cutting and dough figurine making (捏面人). This makes their travel experiences more personal and interesting.
Gen Z’s travel habits are changing, and tourist areas are creating new immersive and personal experiences to help them feel closer to the culture and history. Mixing old traditions with modern activities is changing the future of tourism in China, making trips more exciting and fun for young visitors.
37. What is the writing purpose of the passage?
A. To introduce three popular places for young travellers in China.
B. To explain why immersive travel is the best way to travel now.
C. To tell us young people in China love travelling more than before.
D. To show how Gen Z’s travel ways are different from traditional travel.
38. According to the whole passage, how does the writer show his ideas?
A. By telling stories. B. By listing numbers.
C. By giving examples. D. By interviewing tourists.
39. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Gen Z will completely stop visiting famous tourist spots in the future.
B. Tourist areas will create more new experiences to meet Gen Z’s needs.
C. Traditional tourism will disappear because of Gen Z’s new travel habits.
D. Only big cities can provide good immersive travel experiences for Gen Z.
40. What is the structure of the passage? (①=Para.1, ②=Para.2, …)
A. ①/②/③/④⑤/⑥ B. ①/②/③④⑤/⑥
C. ①②/③/④⑤/⑥ D. ①/②③/④/⑤/⑥

In this school, the teacher had set a rule to encourage children to recite the Bible: if he could recite two verses, the teacher would give him one blue ticket; ten blue tickets were equal to one red ticket; ten red tickets could be exchanged for a yellow ticket; if anyone could get ten yellow tickets, the teacher would give him or her a new Bible. Getting the thick book was the greatest honor for children. So they were busy reciting every day. To Tom, it’s impossible, so he thought of a simple way. He exchanged his small things in other children’s hands. In this way, he got many tickets.
At the beginning of the class, the 35-year-old teacher made a daily speech. Tom was playing with the boys around him. He pulled a boy’s hair and pinched another, but when they turned around, he just read the book carefully, but the children began to talk noisily. Some children even began to fight.
Suddenly, the room turned silent because some visitors came into the room. Three adults and one young girl entered. To Tom’s surprise, the little girl was just the “angel”. Tom thought of his meeting with the girl and the adventure in her garden. Among the visitors, the old man was somebody.
Then it was the time to give prizes to those children who had got ten yellow tickets. The room was quiet. Nobody had enough tickets. When hope was dead, Tom stood up with nine yellow tickets, nine red ones and ten blue ones. Then, children suddenly realized that they were cheated by Tom. The teacher didn’t believe Tom could get so many tickets, but the number of tickets was exact. The prize was given to Tom Sawyer and he was introduced to the old man.

My hometown is a small town. I left it 10 years ago to study in the city, and I came back last month. I was surprised to see so many great changes.
When I left, there were only a few small shops in the town, and most people went to the city to buy things. Now, a big new supermarket stands in the south of the town. There used to be a noisy old factory there. It was closed, because it caused serious pollution, and the government built a beautiful park there instead.
The town center has changed the most. Cars are not allowed there now. People can only walk or ride bikes. It’s much quieter and cleaner than before. Near my home, two new shops have opened, including a big bookstore and a modern gym.
Life here is much more convenient than before. And I really enjoy these changes. But I feel a little sad. Because most of my old friends have left the town to work or study in big cities. Even so, I believe my hometown will become even better in the future.

根据前文“Emma and Liam sat on a park bench without any word”(两人一言不发地坐着),此处指打破沉默,应用silence。
根据后文“Like we're just finishing the task”(只是完成任务),这种重复的日常让人感到枯燥,应用boring。
此处指代前文提到的“日常重复的事(we wake up, go to work, come home, and repeat)”,应用代词it指代。me“我”、her“她”、him“他”均不符合指代逻辑。
at“在……地点/时刻”、in“在……里”、after“在……之后”均不符合“向目标前进”的含义。
【27题详解】
句意:我们要去看更大的画面。
根据前文“Life is just like a puzzle. Each piece might seem to be small or unimportant, but together, they create something meaningful.”(生活像拼图,碎片组合成整体),此处指看到更大的“画面/图景”,应用picture。
根据前文“So, hmm, it's not about changing what we do, but how we see it?”(Emma理解了Liam的话),此处表示她慢慢点头表示认同与思考,应用slowly。
look for“寻找”、look like“看起来像”、look after“照顾”均不符合“看待事物的角度”的含义。

B
B 35. C 36. B

①/②③/④/⑤/⑥
D 38. C 39. B 40. B
