The Yerkes-Dodson curve(耶克斯-多德森曲线) tells the relationship between stress and performance. The big idea of it is that people perform better at medium levels(水平) of stress. It shows the importance of stress management skills and helps to control and manage stress levels to keep away from negative effects(影响) on performance.

How can you lower your level of stress if it’s too
high? Practise mindfulness(正念). If you feel
uncomfortable, try exercise such as deep breathing to
calm your body down.
If your level of stress is too low, you can learn how to turn it up to perform better. Try setting small goals and using active self-talk. For example, if you want to run better, set a goal and tell yourself, “I have trained hard for this. I can reach my goal.”
In a word, you can perform at your best by practising these skills and controlling what you can.
