听第10段材料,回答第18至20题。
18.Who is Dr. Eric?
A.A bird expert.

20.What is the man doing at the end of the speech?
A.Giving a warning. B.Expressing gratitude. C.Offering suggestions.
【答案】18.B 19.A 20.C
【原文】Good evening, members of the town council and fellow residents. I’m Dr. Eric, and I’m the volunteer president of Green Wings, a local nature protection group.
I’m here today to warn about the possible impact of the current design proposals for the new Circle Theater. We understand the need for development and welcome the creation of a new arts facility here in town. But it’s important to consider how our choices will affect the many birds living in this area.
Glass buildings are beautiful. But they are dangerous for birds because they can’t see glass like we do. Indeed, they’re often attracted closer by indoor lights or reflections of trees and the sky. Every year in the U.S. alone, more than a billion birds crash into glass, and most will die of their injuries.
The good news is that these accidents are preventable. There are many ways to make buildings safer, from simple stickers to patterned glass. I’m not here to offer design solutions. But before the proposals can be approved, we must insist that measures are taken to ensure the safety of local wildlife.

At a resort(度假胜地) on the outskirts of Urumqi, capital of Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 19-year-old ski coach Huoran Tanaidong often has little time to rest between day and night skiing sessions. On busy days, he rushes into the lodge (小屋), grabs a quick plate of noodles, and checks his phone for reminders, with extra time spent filming students on the slopes.
One afternoon, he guided a girl from Harbin down the challenging 36-degree Asian Avenue slope, a symbol of honor among experienced skiers. Despite initial hesitation, she skied down safely with his encouragement. Huoran adjusted his distance to ease her nerves, helping her carve clear turns until she got the perfect shot.
Filming has become part of Huoran’s job. He records nearly every student, and a growing number of clients hire him for videos shared on social media. This season, he has taught over 500 students, sometimes five or six a day on busy weekends.
Huoran started snowboarding at six and worked at a ski resort at 15. Self-taught at first, he later joined his school’s skiing team, training before dawn and after dark. As skiing took off in China, Xinjiang turned into a top winter destination with expanded resorts. Huoran then realized skiing could be more than a hobby and pursued it as a career.
Supported by local authorities and his village, Huoran took professional training, passed exams, and got his ski instructor certification. “Hard work meant being under the sun and wind all day, often alone,” Huoran says, reflecting on his journey from hard labor to coach. “Now I’m doing what I truly love.”
On his social media account, Huoran shares skiing tips, behind-the-scenes filming experiences, and the snowy landscapes of his hometown. He hopes not only to teach more people to ski, but also to help others like him discover new career paths on the slopes. Nearby villagers have opened guesthouses and restaurants, as well as strawberry-picking gardens that stay open late for skiers. Tourism, once busy only in summer, now grows rapidly year-round.
24.What do we know about Huoran’s present job?
A.He teaches skiing without any professional certification.
B.He only teaches basic skiing techniques in his spare time.
C.He combines ski teaching with video filming for students.
D.He works full-time as a social media influencer.
25.Why did Huoran keep a proper distance when guiding the girl from Harbin?
A.To avoid being filmed in her video. B.To help her stay calm and confident.
C.To teach her to ski independently. D.To protect himself from danger.
26.What contributed greatly to Huoran’s turning his skiing hobby into a career?
A.The popularity of local tourism.
B.His professional training in filming.
C.His early experience of working on a farm.
D.Support from local authorities and his village.
27.Which of the following can best describe Huoran?
A.Hard-working and ambitious. B.Caring and outgoing.
C.Independent and devoted. D.Generous and humorous.

C
In the past seventy years, human exploitation of the oceans has intensified dramatically. Industrial fishing operations now harvest about 90 million metric tons of fish annually, with over one-third of global fish stocks regarded as overfished. This ever-increasing demand, coupled with illegal fishing and habitat destruction, has pushed marine ecosystems to the edge of collapse. The ocean’s capacity to absorb abuse is limited, and its decline mirrors humanity’s failure to balance consumption with preservation.
The ocean has long been our silent partner in the fight against climate change, absorbing vast amounts of carbon dioxide and heat. But this generosity comes at a cost. Rising sea levels, acidification, and the loss of marine biodiversity are clear signals that the ocean is reaching its limits.
For decades, we have treated the ocean as an endless resource and a convenient sink. Industrial fishing has pushed many fish stocks to the edge of collapse, while plastic pollution and chemical runoff have poisoned marine ecosystems. The consequences extend far beyond the sea; they spread through coastal communities, fisheries, and global food security.
Yet, the ocean also holds the key to our survival. Healthy marine ecosystems can store carbon, protect coastlines from storms, and support millions of livelihoods. The challenge is to shift from exploitation to stewardship. This requires global cooperation, stronger regulations, and a commitment to sustainable practices.
The time for half-measures is over. We must reduce greenhouse gas emissions (排放), protect critical marine habitats, and invest in science and innovation to restore ocean health. The ocean’s warning is clear: If we continue to ignore it, we risk losing not only the beauty and wonder of the sea but also the life-support systems it provides.
The future of our planet depends on how we respond to this call. By listening to the ocean and acting with urgency, we can ensure that it remains a source of life and strength for generations to come.
28.Why did the marine ecosystem go well in the past?
A.Its self-cleaning ability was much stronger. B.Human exploitation level was much lower.
C.Climate conditions were ideal for marine life. D.Marine ecosystems recovered more easily.
29.What does the underlined word “stewardship” in paragraph 4 most probably mean?
A.Guardianship. B.Prohibition. C.Observation. D.Ignorance.
30.What is the author’s attitude toward the future of the ocean?
A.Confident but cautious. B.Neutral and objective.
C.Hopeful but conditional. D.Pessimistic and suspicious.
31.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Overfishing Destroys Marine Ecosystem B.Exploitation Damages Capacity to Absorb Abuse
C.Silent Crisis: How the Ocean is Dying D.Ocean’s Warning: Why Listen to the Seas
【答案】28.B 29.A 30.C 31.D

Every January, many of us resolve to read more. A new book appears on the nightstand, an audiobook gets downloaded, or we dust off an old library card. We keep finding our way back to it because reading feels like a wholesome promise of more calm, curiosity, and escape. But research increasingly suggests that reading may be more powerful than we realize. In fact, doing so regularly has been linked to a longer life.
The idea sounds almost too good to be true, but scientists have given it real weight in a landmark study from Yale School of Public Health. The researchers followed 3,635 adults aged 50 and older over 12 years and examined how reading habits related to survival. They found people who regularly read books lived an average of 23 months longer than those who didn’t read at all — even after controlling for factors like education, income, baseline health, depression, and cognitive ability. In other words, reading itself was associated with greater longevity, not just the advantages often coming with being a reader.
Elizabeth A.L. Stine-Morrow, a research professor at the University of Illinois, points to the social-emotional effects as the key mechanism for reading’s longevity benefit, a factor echoed by Raymond Mar, a professor of psychology from York University. He explains that, when we read, “we mentally practice relationships, emotions, and perspective-taking — even when we are physically alone.” Loneliness is now considered a serious risk factor for early mortality (死亡). Books help counter loneliness by offering companionship without pressure.
Another reason is that it appears to be a very real form of stress reduction. “When people read, they often enter a focused yet contemplative (冥想的) mental state,” explains Mar. The calm that reading brings may help reduce stress and promote longevity.
To reap these benefits of reading, you do need to make it a habit — but you don’t need to make any dramatic changes. Ten to 30 minutes a day is enough to create meaningful benefits over time. And just as Mar says, “It is never too late to discover or re-discover the joys and long-lasting benefits of reading.”
32.What can be inferred from the first paragraph?
A.People resolve to read more only in January.
B.Reading can directly help people live longer.
C.People don’t fully realize reading’s great value.
D.Reading provides people with permanent happiness.
33.What conclusion can we draw from Yale’s study?
A.Reading itself is tied to a longer life. B.Young adults gain most from reading.
C.Education decides people’s longevity. D.Being a reader brings many advantages.
34.What may Elizabeth
A.L.Stine-Morrow agree with?
A.Reading reduces stress effectively.
B.Loneliness makes people enjoy reading.
C.Cognitive ability boosts reading benefits.
D.Social-emotional effects matter for longevity.
35.Which of the following can be a suitable title for the text?
A.A Mental Tool: Reading against Stress. B.Beyond Fun: The True Worth of Books.
C.A Daily Chapter: Reading for a Longer Life. D.The Science of Longevity: Beyond Genes.

33.细节理解题。根据第二段中的“They found people who regularly read books lived an average of 23 months longer than those who didn’t read at all — even after controlling for factors like education, income, baseline health, depression, and cognitive ability. In other words, reading itself was associated with greater longevity, not just the advantages often coming with being a reader.(他们发现,经常读书的人比根本不读书的人平均多活23个月——即使在控制了教育、收入、基础健康状况、抑郁和认知能力等因素之后也是如此。换句话说,阅读本身与长寿有关,而不仅仅是作为读者通常带来的那些优势。)”可知,耶鲁大学的研究得出阅读本身与长寿相关的结论。故选A项。
34.推理判断题。根据第三段中的“Elizabeth A. L. Stine-Morrow, a research professor at the University of Illinois, points to the social-emotional effects as the key mechanism for reading’s longevity benefit, a factor echoed by Raymond Mar, a professor of psychology from York University.(伊利诺伊大学的研究教授伊丽莎白·A·L·斯汀 - 莫罗指出,社会情感效应是阅读带来长寿益处的关键机制,约克大学的心理学教授雷蒙德·马也认同这一因素。)”
In the journey of life, there’s an often ignored hero — labor. Yes, that’s right, good old-fashioned hard work. Whether it’s mowing lawns, babysitting, or washing dishes, the act of laboring not only fills pockets but also shapes characters and molds futures.
Let’s face it, we live in a world where instant satisfaction is the norm (标准). But what if we told you that delaying that satisfaction and putting in some good, honest sweat can actually be beneficial? It’s true! 36
37 Imagine a teenager tasked with mowing lawns for a summer job. Suddenly, they’re responsible for showing up on time, doing a thorough job, and managing their earnings. These are life skills that no classroom lecture can match.
Moreover, labor breeds (培养) perseverance. 38 Instead of throwing in the towel, they persevere, learning from each setback and growing stronger in the process. This perseverance becomes a cornerstone (基石) for success in all aspects of life.
But perhaps the most profound impact of labor is its ability to foster empathy and appreciation. 39 As teenagers serve meals to the less fortunate, they gain a newfound perspective on privilege and gratitude. Suddenly, that new smartphone doesn’t seem as important as lending a helping hand to those in need.
In conclusion, labor isn’t just about earning a paycheck but it’s also about shaping character and building a foundation for success. So, the next time you see a teenager sweating it out on a hot summer day, remember — 40
A.Labour is significantly beneficial to health.
B.Take, for instance, volunteering at a local soup kitchen.
C.labor isn’t just about earning money and training skills.
D.First, labor gradually acquires a sense of responsibility.
E.Imagine a young adult facing rejection after rejection while job hunting.
F.they’re not just mowing lawns, they’re paving their path to a brighter future.
G.The process of laboring teaches invaluable lessons that textbooks simply can’t convey.
36.上文“But what if we told you that delaying that satisfaction and putting in some good, honest sweat can actually be beneficial? It’s true!(但如果我们告诉你,推迟这种满足,投入一些好的、诚实的劳动实际上是有益呢?这是真的!)”是肯定劳动是有好处的,那么下文将说明劳动有哪些好处。选项G“The process of laboring teaches invaluable lessons that textbooks simply can’t convey. (劳动的过程教会了教科书无法传达的宝贵教训。)”符合语境。故选G。
37.这是段首句,是标题句。下文“Suddenly, they’re responsible for showing up on time, doing a thorough job, and managing their earnings. These are life skills that no classroom lecture can match. (突然之间,他们很负责,会按时到场,从头到尾多做工作,并管理自己的收人。这些都是任何课堂讲座都无法匹配的生活技能。)”是说明劳动会培养责任感。选项D“First, labor gradually acquires a sense of responsibility (首先,劳动逐渐获得了一种责任感。)”,同时,First与下文的Moreover呼应。故选D。
38.根据上文“Moreover, labor breeds perseverance. (此外,劳动还能培养出毅力。)”和下文“Instead of throwing in the towel, they persevere, learning from each setback and growing stronger in the process. This perseverance becomes a cornerstone for success in all aspects of life. (他们没有认输,而是坚持不懈,从每一次挫折中学习,并在这个过程中变得更强大。这种毅力成为了在生活的各个方面取得成功的基石。)”,可知空格处要举例说明劳动如何培养出毅力。选项E“Imagine a young adult facing rejection after rejection while job hunting. (想象一下,一个年轻人在求职时面临被一而再的拒绝。)”符合此语境。故选E。
39.根据上文“But perhaps the most profound impact of labor is its ability to foster empathy and appreciation. (但也许劳动最深刻的影响是它培养共情心和欣赏的能力。)”和下文“As teenagers serve meals to the less fortunate, they gain a newfound perspective on privilege and gratitude. (当青少年为不幸的人提供食物时,他们对特权和感激有了一种新的看法。)”,可知空格处引出了如何培养共情心和欣赏的能力的例子,可以承接上文,引出下文。选项B“Take, for instance, volunteering at a local soup kitchen. (以在当地的施粥所做志愿者为例。)”符合此语境。故选B。
40.本句是文章尾段的尾句,结合上文“In conclusion, labor isn’t just about earning a paycheck but it’s also about shaping character and building a foundation for success. (总之,劳动不仅仅在于挣钱,还在于塑造性格和为成功奠定基础。)”,可知破折号后对劳动的意义进一步说明,给出了忠告。选项F“So, the next time you see a teenager sweating it out on a hot summer day, remember — they’re not just mowing lawns, they’re paving their path to a brighter future (所以,下次当你看到一个青少年在炎热的夏天大汗淋漓的时候,请记住——他们不只是在修剪草坪,他们还在为通往更光明的未来铺平道路。)”符合语境。故选F。

67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Grandma Agnes is ninety-nine years old and still lives in the same house she’s lived in for more than sixty years. She was one of thirteen children raised on a farm, and now, she is rather set in her ways. For twelve years, Grandma Agnes enjoyed the company of her dog, Snoopy. The black-and-white spotted mutt (杂种狗) was a constant presence in her home and yard. As time went on, Grandma Agnes began showing signs of dementia (老年痴呆). My family worked together to keep her living independently yet safe.
It was heartbreaking for my dad when he removed the battery from her car to prevent her from driving with her still-valid license. After that, every visit ended with Grandma insisting he buy her a new battery, claiming hers was “dead again.” Dad would no d and promise, though he knew she’d forget.
Three years ago, Snoop y passed away. My dad, Aunt Carol, and Uncle Ed tried to help Grandma understand. They held a small funeral in the backyard. Uncle Ed framed a photo of Snoopy with “Rest in Peace” written below and stuck it on the fridge. Yet during daily visits, Grandma still asked about Snoopy, accusing neighbors of stealing him because she “heard his barking.”
Caring for someone with dementia is emotionally exhausting. For years, Dad warned me before each visit: “She might not recognize you or your kids.” We’d patiently answer the same questions repeatedly. Grandma Agnes is still stubbornly independent, but she struggles to make sense of the world. Still, she insists on living alone and never stops asking about Snoopy.

【答案】范文1
A few months ago, Uncle Ed came up with a good idea and bought a robotic dog for Grandma Agnes. The new Snoopy looked almost the same as the old one, with black-and-white fur and a wagging tail. When Grandma touched its head, the robot barked softly and rubbed against her hand. “Oh, Snoopy! You’re back!” she cried, holding it close. From that day on, she “fed” it every morning and talked to it while sitting in the yard. Though the robotic dog couldn’t run or play, its programmed warmth seemed to comfort her. She stopped accusing the neighbors and even smiled more often.
Everyone was pleased that Grandma Agnes liked “Snoopy” a lot. Last Sunday, I visited her with Dad. She didn’t recognize me, but she cheerfully introduced her “good boy” to us. The robotic dog sat beside her, its head resting on her lap as she hummed an old song. Dad whispered, “Technology may not cure her illness, but it gives her peace.” Watching Grandma gently stroke the robot’s fur, I realized how something as simple as a machine could reconnect her to lost love and memories. Science, in its own quiet way, had become a bridge between her fading world and the care we longed to provide.
范文2
A few months ago, Uncle Ed came up with a good idea and bought a robotic dog for Grandma Agnes. When the lifelike, black-and-white spotted robotic dog was placed before her, Grandma froze. Her eyes widened in shock. Then, a faint smile spread on her wrinkled face. “Snoopy?” she softly murmured, reaching to touch its head. The dog barked gently and wagged its tail. Since then, it has become a constant companion in her life. She took it for walks around the yard, chatting about farm days.
Everyone was pleased that Grandma Agnes liked “Snoopy” a lot. It’s heartwarming. She showers the robotic pet with love, as if it were the real Snoopy. The empty look in her eyes has turned into a spark of joy. During visits, we often find her on the porch, the robotic dog at her feet, as she shares childhood stories. This simple yet smart idea has brought back companionship. Such is the meaning of technology, which gives us hope, showing that love and memories can shine through, even with dementia.
①抱着它:hold it close/clasp it tightly

D

第二节(满分25分)

Yes, of course, IT was great for playing hide and seek. Mom was always complaining. There was no hot water for showers. Dad used to make up scary stories about the people in the old paintings. Yes, what I remember is lying awake at night thinking about the people who had lived there before. I hope the person who buys the house won't change IT. I'd hate to see IT lose its characteristic tics. It's likely to have a preservation order on IT because it's sold. IT won't returned into a hotel. I expect you're right. Good evening, members of the town council and fellow residents. I'm doctor erik and i'm the volunteer president of Green wings, a local nature protection group. I'm here today to warn about the possible impact of the current design proposals for the new circle theatre. We understand the need for development and welcomed the creation of a new arts facility here in town, but it's important to consider how our choices will affect the many birds living in this area. Glass buildings are beautiful, but they are dangerous for birds because they can't see glass like we do. Indeed, they are often attracted closer by indoor lights or reflections of trees and the sky. Every year in the us. Alone, more than a billion birds crash into glass, and most will die of their injuries. The good news is that these accidents are preventable. There are many ways to make building safer, from simple stickers to pattern the glass, and not here to offer design solutions, but before the proposals can be approved, we must insist that measures are taken to ensure the safety of local wildlife.

D

第二节(满分25分)
