Cartagena is one of Colombia’s easiest cities to travel around. The well-preserved historic center and neighboring communities invite exploration on foot, leading you through the picturesque streets, hidden alleys (小巷) and engaging squares. Walking is one of the best ways to get to know Cartagena’s historic center, a pedestrian-friendly place separated from the rest of the modern city by a thick stone wall that dates back to the 16th century. The Old Town would take only 20 minutes to travel around on foot—yet it’s so filled with appealing attractions that you can spend days wandering its alleys. In fact, most of Cartagena’s top sites can be found either here or just outside Las Murallas (the wall). Just east of the Old Town’s Torre del Reloj, neighboring Getsemani is just as walkable. Traditionally a neighborhood of the working class, it has in recent years transformed into a trendy district full of hotels, restaurants and cafes. At every turn, the streets and narrow alleyways present you with colorful wall paintings or flags, kites, umbrellas and lights strung overhead. Tips for walking around Cartagena: Head out early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the heat of the midday sun. If you don’t have a hat or drinking water, you’ll find plenty of vendors (小贩) selling both. Though Cartagena is one of the safest cities to visit in Colombia, crime can occur. Keep your valuables hidden from view and opt for a taxi late at night. Should you desire a swifter pace, a variety of transportation options are readily available to take you away, including taxis, buses and Uber or other ride-hailing (打车) apps. You can click here to find more detailed information. 1. What separates Cartagena’s historic center from the rest of the city? A. A trendy district. B. A modern square. C. A centuries-old stone wall. D. A hidden alley. 2. What are visitors advised to do in Cartagena? A. Avoid walking late at night. B. Stay away from vendors. C. Always carry an umbrella. D. Head out early in the afternoon. 3. From which is the text most probably taken? A. A website. B. A newspaper. C. A travel brochure. D. A geography textbook. B “Who are you?” asked two men to a third person who had just interrupted their conversation onstage. “I am a national treasure,” he replied with pride and a smile. “A ‘national treasure’? You are...Meng Lan, or Huahua?” they responded uncertainly. That drew a sound of laughing from the audience, for Meng Lan and Huahua are two famous giant pandas, whose photos and videos have become an internet hit. The dialogue was even funnier because it was inserted(插入) into a play about ancient history titled Joyful Songs in Flourishing Age, recently presented at the National Museum of China. The play’s creators said they added in bits of contemporary culture to make it lively and more relatable to today’s audiences. The primary inspiration for the performance also was a figure of fun — an ancient pottery (陶器) statue of a comedian beating a drum. The 56-centimeter-tall statue is characterized by his wide smile and a lively position — he holds a flat drum with one arm and a drumstick in the opposite hand, and he raises a leg in a noticeable movement. The museum’s purpose in hosting the play was to cooperate with other cultural and educational institutions to bring old cultural objects to life. The show was meant to help more people learn not only about the clay figure itself, but also about ancient Chinese art and culture. “The music and many other kinds of Baixi performing arts have been put into the plot.” Yang, a professor at the Communication University of China, says producing the play inspired great creativity among her cooperators and the production was an exploratory effort of the museum to bring about the various presentation of their collections. While they asked for help from researchers at the National Museum of China for historical details, they also added elements of imagination and, especially, pop culture, such as rap and the giant panda craze, to enrich the dialogue and singing and to help people relate to the show. 4. What does “a national treasure” in Paragraph 1 refer to? A. A pottery statue. B. An Internet video. C. A panda. D. A performance. 5. Why was the dialogue put into the play? A. To attract younger audiences. B. To make a deeper conversation. C. To conduct a simpler discussion. D. To achieve a better understanding. 6. What does Professor Yang think of the show? A. It gets a museum famous again. B. It is a popular talent play. C. It results from a creative exploration. D. It is short of imaginative ideas. 7. Which of the following can be a suitable title for the text? A. Ancient History Enters University Courses B. Cultural Objects Carry Various Musical Elements C. Creativity Is Needed to Make a Lively Communication D. Modern Humor Is Used to Introduce Ancient Art and Culture C Hilda Jackson, a spirited senior from Derbyshire, exchanged her walking frame for glowsticks (荧光棒) and face paint to celebrate her 105th birthday with an unusual rave (锐舞) party at Holbrook Care Home. The event, attended by 70 guests, featured a live performance by Nottingham rapper Bru-C, disco beats spun by a DJ, and an open bar sponsored by Jagermeister — though most elderly participants chose soft drinks. Born in 1919, Hilda has lived through two world wars, 22 British Prime Ministers, and the invention of television. During WWII, she contributed to the war effort by working at a factory. A lifelong adventurer, she drove until age 100 and traveled a lot with her late sister Vera on dance-themed journey across Europe. When asked about her long life, Hilda credited her longevity to her youthful passion for tennis and her philosophy of “taking each day as it comes.” She smiled, recalling her mother’s warnings: “You’ll wear yourself out playing tennis every night!” Her eyes shone as she recalled meeting her husband Walter in her 20s, calling him her “one true love.” After his death in the 1950s, Hilda never remarried, instead sharing 63 years with Vera until her sister’s passing. The rave idea puzzled even the staff at Holbrook Care Home. Manager Rebecca admitted, “Last year, she requested laser lights and glowsticks — maybe she saw raves on TV?” The party’s decorations and energetic music contrasted with the care home’s usual calm, but Hilda danced energetically, shouting cheerfully, “Life’ s meant for celebrating!” Guests received glow-in-the-dark bracelets (手镯), while Bru-C performed a custom rap praising Hilda’s passion for life. Though wheelchair-bound seniors tapped their feet, Hilda stood center-stage, her skirt flashing under lights. “I’ve always loved music — waltzes (华尔兹), foxtrots, even disco!” she said. Hilda’ s birthday cards included one from King Charles, but her true joy came from dancing. “Who says raves are for the young?” she laughed, proving age is just a number. 8. What was special about Hilda’s 105th birthday party? A. It was held in a factory where she once worked. B. It was filled with decorations inspired by her travels. C. It included a rap performance with lively atmosphere. D. It was a traditional celebration with waltzes and disco. 9. What confused the care home staff about Hilda’s party request? A. Her refusal to invite family. B. Her enthusiasm of rave parties. C. Her dislike of royal celebrations. D. Her preference for classical music. 10. What does Hilda’s comment imply in the last paragraph? A. She believes raves are only suitable for the young. B. She thinks age should not limit one’s enjoyment of life. C. She wishes more dancing opportunities at the care home. D. She feels that true happiness lies in doing what she loves. 11. What kind of person is Hilda according to the passage? A. Cautious but sociable. B. Sensitive but moderate. C. Dynamic and open-minded. D. Creative and unconventional. D With artificial intelligence (AI) and robotic technology improving at impressive rates, there are some who worry that there’s a risk of artistic and creative people being replaced. A new study by the Korean Institute of Industrial Technology, however, is showing exactly why that can’t and shouldn’t happen. It all started when the South Korean company posed this question: Can robots replace conductors? Over a year ago, work to develop automaton (自动化) began. At first, it was designed like a machine, and didn’t live up to expectations. Then the company sought ways to improve it. In the end, it was given two arms with joints to copy wrists and elbows, allowing it to move a stick similarly to how a human conductor would move it. It was named the EverR 6 robot, and stands at 1.8 meters. It was finally time to figure out how it could follow through on its musical role. “We got involved in this project to see how far robots can go in more creative fields like the arts, and what the challenges are,” Dong-wook Lee, a senior researcher at the Korean Institute of Industrial Technology said. In order to pull this off, Dong-wook Lee cooperated with the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra. The 12-minute piece they planned to perform, “Feel” by Il-hoon Son, was created specifically for this event. It was created with the strengths of both EverR 6 and the human conductor, Soo-yeol Choi, in mind. To pull off this impressive performance, the robot was preprogrammed to conduct through 30 cycles of beat patterns. Meanwhile, it was up to the human conductor to lead the orchestra in creating an improvisational (即兴的) score, adding depth to the otherwise planned piece. Together, they pulled off a masterful performance that the audience seemed more than happy to have had the opportunity to witness it firsthand! With the concert having gone so well, this is only the start of EverR 6. Still, no matter the improvements they’re able to make to this Android robot, the human conductor isn’t concerned about being replaced. “Let’s leave the accuracy to the robots,” Soo-yeol Choi said, “but the musical and artistic aspects to a human conductor.” 12. What is paragraph 2 mainly about? A. The function of the EverR 6 robot. B. The development of the EverR 6 robot. C. The EverR 6 robot’s role as a conductor. D. The difficulty in designing the EverR 6 robot. 13. What can be learned about “Feel”? A. It is a piece familiar to the audience. B. It is a piece showing the human-robot cooperation. C. It is the only piece that EverR 6 will perform. D. It is a piece requiring great ability to conduct. 14. What role did Soo-yeol Choi play in the performance? A. He corrected the robot’s mistakes. B. He programmed the EverR 6 robot. C. He led the improvisational section of the performance. D. He was the main conductor of the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra. 15. What is Soo-yeol Choi’s attitude towards EverR 6? A. Unclear. B. Uncaring. C. Supportive. D. Doubtful. 第二节 (共5小题:每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 A new fashion movement is gaining momentum in China. The classroom suddenly got filled with eager voices as classmates enthusiastically shared their dreams. “I want to be a college professor,” said Sarah confidently. “I dream of becoming a basketball player,” exclaimed Mike with light in his eye. The air was filled with dreams of doctors, nurses, police and various professions. When Mrs. Green turned her attention to me, inquiring about my future career, I hesitated. “I don’t know yet,” I admitted. Then she asked if I wished to follow in my dad’s footsteps. “No,” I replied firmly. My dad is a distinguished doctor with a demanding schedule, who often finds himself engaged in the responsibilities of his job. Thus, he often return s home late in the evening. The limited time we spent together during my growth created a noticeable distance in our relationship. I had such a lot to complain about his job and thus being a doctor would be the last option I would take. Upon hearing my response, Mrs. Green remained silent. Instead, she encouraged me to reflect further. A turning point came when our school organized a cultural festival. It was an important event, and we had been preparing for it for a long time. For my role, I needed to purchase a costume. Unfortunately, my mother was abroad, so the responsibility fell on my father. Unwillingly, I agreed, acknowledging that there was no other choice. In the mall, my dad’s unfamiliarity with the shopping list became apparent. Despite Mom’s thorough list, we wandered aimlessly through the floors, struggling to find the necessary items. As we did, I felt a growing sense of discomfort. Suddenly, a chaos drew our attention. A crowd had gathered, and someone was shouting for help. It turned out that an elderly customer had a fall, and onlookers were at a loss on how to assist. 注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Without hesitation, my father rushed forward. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ For the first time, I felt a sense of pride in his work. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025-2026学年度第二学期第一次教学质量月检测 高二英语试卷 (本试卷满分150分,考试用时120分钟) 第一部分听力理解 (共两节,满分20分) 做题时,先将答案标在试卷上。 1. 7. 【答案】8. C 9. B 10. B 11. A. Unclear. B. Uncaring. C. Supportive. D. Doubtful. 【答案】12. B 13. B 14. C 15. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Without hesitation, my father rushed forward. He pushed through the crowd, his demeanor calm and collected despite the chaos around him. Kneeling beside the elderly customer, he quickly assessed the situation and instructed bystanders to call an ambulance. With gentle hands, he comforted the frightened old man, assuring him that help was on the way. As he tended to the injured, my father’s expertise as a doctor shone through, and I couldn’t help but be impressed. His actions spoke louder than any words ever could, showing me a side of him I had never seen before. The crowd dispersed, and when the ambulance arrived, my father carefully explained the situation to the paramedics before they took the elderly man away. Standing there, watching him, I realized that being a doctor wasn’t just about long hours and sacrifices; it was also about making a difference in people’s lives. For the first time, I felt a sense of pride in his work. As we walked out of the mall, I couldn’t help but ask him about his experiences as a doctor, and he shared stories of the moments that had brought him joy and fulfillment. I listened intently, seeing him in a new light. That night, when he returned home late, instead of feeling annoyed, I greeted him with a hug and thanked him for what he did. From then on, our relationship began to mend, and I found myself looking up to him in a way I never had before. My perspective on his job changed, and I realized that being a doctor wasn’t just a demanding profession; it was a calling that allowed him to touch lives and make a real impact. As I grew older, I even found myself considering following in his footsteps, inspired by his dedication and compassion. 词汇激活 行为类 ①评估:assess/estimate ②解释:explain/account for ③修复:mend/restore ④意识到:realize/be aware of 情绪类 ①恼怒的:annoyed/irritated ②感谢:thank/appreciate 【点睛】[高分句型1] Standing there, watching him, I realized that being a doctor wasn’t just about long hours and sacrifices; it was also about making a difference in people’s lives.(运用了现在分词作状语,that引导宾语从句) [高分句型2] As I grew older, I even found myself considering following in his footsteps, inspired by his dedication and compassion.(运用了as引导时间状语从句,过去分词作状语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
