My hometown is Hangzhou, a beautiful city in the east of China. It is famous for its natural beauty and rich history. Many people from all over the world come to visit it every year.
The most famous place in Hangzhou is the West Lake. It is like a bright mirror in the centre of the city. Around the lake, there are green trees, colourful flowers and old stone bridges. In spring, the willow trees by the lake have soft new leaves, and the peach trees are full of pink flowers. In summer, you can see lotus flowers blooming on the water. In autumn, the sweet osmanthus flowers fill the air with their fragrance. In winter, the lake looks quiet and peaceful under the snow. It is so beautiful that it is well worth visiting at any time of the year.
Another wonderful place is Lingyin Temple. It is one of the oldest and most famous Buddhist temples in China. It has a history of more than 1,600 years. Inside the temple, there are many ancient statues and paintings. The sound of the monks’ chants and the smell of incense make you feel calm and peaceful.

You can buy silk products, Longjing tea and other local handicrafts. You can also try delicious local food, like Dongpo pork, West Lake vinegar fish and beggar’s chicken. Think about this: all the leaves in the forest have the same shape and size. How do you feel? You may feel the forest is boring, right? Luckily, nature is like a great artist. She gives leaves all kinds of shapes and sizes, making the forest a beautiful place. But do you know why leaves have such different shapes?
Leaves make food for trees. They get sunlight and turn it into energy, just like how we eat food to grow strong and healthy. But different trees need different shapes of leaves to help them live better.
Some trees grow in dark places. And it is hard for the sunlight to get there. To help the trees catch all the sunlight around them, their leaves need to be big. Other trees grow in open places and the sun shines all day there. Their leaves may be small and pointy (尖的) to keep them from getting too much sunlight.
So, just like we wear jackets for rainy days and T-shirts for hot days, trees have leaves in different shapes and sizes to grow well. Nature is so smart, isn’t she?

You may hear someone say that dogs are color-blind. But is this true?
A dog’s eyes are similar to humans’ (人类的) eyes. They have cone cells (视锥细胞) and rod cells (视杆细胞) on their retinas (视网膜).
Most humans have three kinds of cone cells. They help us to tell the difference between colors. But dogs have only two kinds of cone cells. They can’t tell orange, red or green. They can only see things in yellow, blue, grey, brown, white and black. That is to say, the vision (视力) of dogs is similar to that of a red-green color-blind man.
However, dogs have more rod cells than humans. This makes them see well in the dark and notice the movement exactly. For example, while a man takes a walk with his dog at night, the dog may stop and then stare into the darkness without moving. This can make the man feel scared. The dog, however, may just see a small mouse running across the grass far away.
So next time when someone says that dogs are color-blind, you can tell him, “They are red-green color blind.” Our lovely animal friends can’t see many colors, but they can still see better than us in many ways!
37.What colors can a dog tell?
① black ② orange ③ blue ④ yellow ⑤ green ⑥ red
A.①③④ B.②③④ C.②④⑤ D.④⑤⑥
38.What does the word “stare” mean?
stare /steə(r)/ v.
A.to feel unsafe when seeing sb/sth.
B.to look at sb/sth for a long time.
C.to go with or in front of sb.
D.to say sth very quietly.
39.What can we know about cone cells and rod cells?
A.Cone cells help dogs see well in the dark.
B.Rod cells can’t make humans notice movements exactly.
C.Dogs have fewer kinds of cone cells but more rod cells than humans.
D.Rod cells make dogs better at telling colors than humans.
40.Why does the writer write the passage?
A.To tell people to take good care of dogs.
B.To show how dogs find small animals in the dark.
C.To correct a wrong idea and introduce dogs’ vision.
D.To introduce the differences between humans’ eyes and animals’.

1.D 2.C 3.A 4.A 5.D 6.D 7.C 8.C 9.B 10.C 11.B 12.A 13.D 14.A 15.C
句型“It+be+名词+to do sth.”中,It作形式主语,指代真正的主语“to see a country...”。
arrive in接大地点(城市、国家等),arrive at接小地点,广州是城市,应用in。
“they didn’t speak much English”与前句“There were always friendly workers ready to help”是让步关系,应用though“尽管”引导让步状语从句。
also(也)放在肯定句句中,实义动词前;too/as well放在句末,either用于否定句,此处also符合用法。
感叹句结构:What a/an+形容词+可数名词单数+主谓!,中心词是可数名词atmosphere,所以用What a。
“spend time doing sth.”

第一段“...he heard the sound of a small bird and...it next to the ball.”
第一段“...it couldn’t fly.”
第一段“The bird had a broken wing...”
最后一段“...it was his first beloved pet.”
第一段“The bird had a broken wing...”
下文“With his father’s help, a bird cage was built.”
上文“Blue died of a bird disease soon.”
Blue留下了三只幼鸟,Pat需要帮忙照顾它们,looked after“照顾”符合文意;looked up“查阅”,looked at“看”和looked for“寻找”不符合语境。
第三段“They stayed in the cage, and had three baby birds.”

【答案】37.A 38.B 39.C 40.C

37.第三段提到“They can only see things in yellow, blue, grey, brown, white and black”,说明狗能分辨的颜色有黄色、蓝色、黑色等,所以①③④正确。
38.第四段中“the dog may stop and then stare into the darkness”描述狗停下来长时间注视黑暗中的情况,因此“stare”意为“长时间地看着某人或某物”。
39.第三段提到“But dogs have only two kinds of cone cells”以及第四段“However, dogs have more rod cells than humans”,说明狗的视锥细胞种类比人类少,视杆细胞比人类多。
40.文章开头提出“You may hear someone say that dogs are color-blind. But is this true?”

46.(s)earch 47.(a)llows 48.(a)dvice 49.(t)reat 50.(p)erfect
根据“tool that can help us in many ways” “when we do research for school projects”及首字母可知,DeepSeek是一个能为人们提供帮助的搜索工具,此空修饰名词tool, search tool“搜索工具”,故填(s)earch。
根据“us to explore a wide range (范围) of information quickly”及首字母可知,允许我们能够迅速获取大量的信息,allow sb to do sth“允许某人做某事”,此句是一般现在时,主语是It,动词用三单,故填(a)llows。
根据“provide us with useful”及首字母可知,向我们提供有用的建议,advice“建议”,不可数名词,故填(a)dvice。
根据“it as a helper”及首字母可知,将它视为一种辅助工具,treat…as“把……
根据“Don’t overlook its potential (潜力), but also understand that it’s not”及首字母可知,DeepSeek也并非完美的,所以不要过于依赖,perfect“完美的”,故填(p)erfect。
Mary, a new student in our class, noticed me ________________. She tried to make friends with me and encouraged me to ________________ other students bravely.
【答案】 by accident communicate with
交流”,用动词短语“communicate with”,且encourage sb to do sth为固定搭配,意为“鼓励某人做某事”,所以此处用动词原形。故填by;accident;communicate;with。
I ________________________ a shy girl in my primary school, and I ________ spoke in class.
【答案】 used to be seldom
故填used;to;be;seldom。
________________ the methods Mary taught me, I even could solve some difficult problems ________________.
According to by myself
故填According;to;by;myself。
Mary also ________ me ________ my study. When I met difficulties, she told me never ________________________.
【答案】 helped with to give up
故填helped;with;to;give;up。
Mary sent me a beautiful notebook. And now, ________________________ I look at it, I can’t help ________ of her, my best friend, Mary.
【答案】 as soon as thinking
就……”,用从属连词“as soon as”,引导时间状语从句;第二处表示“情不自禁做某事”,用“can’t help doing sth.” 故填as;soon;as;thinking。
