七年级下册Unit 4 Our animal friends 第五课时 Focusing on culture The story of domestication(阅读课) 1、 教学目标 通过本单元的学习,学生能够用所学知识和语言讲述关于动物如何帮助人类的故事,解释动物对于人类的重要性,理解人与动物之间的关系并描述野生动物如何成为我们的朋友和助手。 通过本课的学习,学生能够: 1. 了解三种动物被驯化的基本事实信息及 5 个重点词汇的意义及应用。 2. 了解说明文:“总—分—总” 的篇章结构,即 “总起—分点介绍—总结”。 3. 理解动物被驯化的主题意义,即人类通过努力,驯化了野生动物,使它们成为人类的好朋友和好助手。理解人与自然的关系以及人与动物的关系,学会珍惜和善待我们的动物朋友。 二、教学重难点 1. 梳理三种动物如何被驯化的基本事实信息。 2. 理解动物被驯化的主题意义。(难点) 三、教学过程 Step 1 Warming-up 激活旧知,导入主题 1. 教师展示宠物与农场动物图片:parrot, tortoise, hamster, cat, dog, rabbit, goldfish,学生快速说出单词。 2. 教师提问:Many farm animals and pets used to be wild animals. How did they become our friends and helpers? 引出核心词汇:domestication (n. 驯养;驯化),板书并带读,导入本课主题。 Step 2 Pre-reading 读前预测,明确方向 1. 教师引导学生观察课文标题、图片、第一段,预测并回答问题: (1) Where can you read this article? (Key: a science book) (2) What is the article talking about? (Key: Facts about how wild animals were domesticated.) (3) What’s the genre of the passage? (They are small and not very dangerous, and they move in big groups and follow their leader.) (2) Which sentence can explain the meaning of “domestication”? (They trained these young wolves to hunt with them. With every generation, people kept wolves with “friendly” genes. Over thousands of years, these pet wolves turned into dogs.) (As with other animals, people chose to keep aurochs with “good” genes, and the animals slowly turned into the cows we see today. ) Step 4 Post-reading 读后梳理,深化理解 1. 学生讨论并思考。 (1) What are “friendly genes” or “good genes”?
