The world’s biggest iceberg (冰山) is on the move from the Weddell Sea. It is the first time that it has started its trip after being stuck (被困) on the seafloor for over 30 years.
The iceberg, called A23a, is more than twice the size of London. It is about 4,000 square kilometres in area. London, by way of comparison, is 1,572 square kilometres.
A23a hasn’t always held the title of the world’s biggest iceberg since the 1980s. It was sometimes replaced by larger icebergs including (包括) A68 in 2017 and A76 in 2021. But they soon broke into smaller icebergs, putting A23a back into the top place.
A23a broke away from the West Antarctic coast (海岸) in 1986 but got stuck on the seafloor (海底) right away. It started moving again in 2020 but just moved faster this year as wind and ocean currents (洋流) pushed it along.
Most icebergs from the Weddell Sea would move east. If that happens to A23a, it could be stuck again near South Georgia. But other smaller icebergs, like A24, have moved more directly north, toward the Falkland Islands.
If A23a doesn’t get stuck, it could go on traveling to the south of Africa and into the Indian Ocean. It may even go all the way into the Pacific Ocean and come up on Chile, almost traveling around the Earth. Some of the largest icebergs have done that in the past. And scientists will closely watch how it will move.
26.Which of the following icebergs is the largest in the world now?
A.A76. B.A68. C.A24. D.A23a.
27.Why does the writer mention London in Paragraph 2?
A.To explain how big A23a is. B.To introduce the most famous city.
C.To show how far it is between A23a and London. D.To discuss the influence of icebergs on the city.
28.What can we know about A23a from Paragraph 4?
A.It started to move faster this year. B.It was stuck on the seafloor in 2020.
C.It may break into small icebergs soon. D.Wind and ocean currents stopped A23a moving.
29.What can we infer (推断) from the last two paragraphs?
A.A24 set a record of traveling around the Earth. B.Scientists are not sure about the movement of A23a.
C.Most icebergs get stuck because of ocean currents. D.A23a got stuck again near South Georgia.
30.Who may be most interested in the passage?
A.Guides who work in the seaside city. B.Students who enjoy traveling.
C.Tourists who enjoy water sports. D.Scientists who study nature.
26.D 27.A 28.A 29.B 30.D
26.第3段“A23a hasn’t always held the title of the world’s biggest iceberg since the 1980s…putting A23a back into the top place.”
27.第2段“The iceberg, called A23a, is more than twice the size of London. It is about 4,000 square kilometres in area. London, by way of comparison, is 1,572 square kilometres.”
28.第4段“It started moving again in 2020 but just moved faster this year as wind and ocean currents pushed it along.”
29.第5段“If that happens to A23a, it could be stuck again near South Georgia. But other smaller icebergs, like A24, have moved more directly north, toward the Falkland Islands.”;第6段“If A23a doesn’t get stuck, it could go on traveling to the south of Africa and into the Indian Ocean…And scientists will closely watch how it will move.”

From childhood to adolescence, every teenager experiences great changes — in their appearance, personality, ability and way of thinking. These changes are the signs of growing up, and they make us become more independent and responsible.
The biggest change in teenagers is the change of personality. Many children are dependent on their parents when they are young. They ask their parents for help with everything, from finishing homework to choosing clothes. But when they grow up, they start to have their own ideas and want to make decisions by themselves. They learn to take care of themselves, such as washing their own clothes and tidying their own rooms. They also start to care about others and learn to help their parents with housework. This is a very important step for teenagers to become independent.
Another important change is the improvement of ability. When we are young, we can only do simple things, but as we grow up, we learn more knowledge and skills at school and in life. We can solve more difficult problems in study, and we can also deal with some small things in life by ourselves. For example, we can take the bus or subway to school alone, we can finish our homework without our parents’ supervision, and we can even help our friends solve their problems. The improvement of ability makes us more confident and helps us face more challenges in life.
Besides, teenagers also change in their way of thinking. When we are children, we think about things in a simple way, but as we grow up, we start to think about things from different angles. We learn to understand others’ feelings and respect different opinions. We also start to have our own dreams and goals, and we will work hard to achieve them. This change of thinking makes us more mature and helps us make better decisions in life.
Growing up is a process of constant change and self-improvement. Every change we experience is a part of our growth. As teenagers, we should cherish the process of growing up, accept our changes, and keep improving ourselves. Only in this way can we grow into a better person and live a more meaningful life.
36.What is the biggest change in teenagers according to the passage?
A.The change of appearance. B.The change of personality.
C.The improvement of ability. D.The change in the way of thinking.
37.What does the underlined word “dependent” mean in Paragraph 2?
38.Which of the following is a sign of teenagers becoming independent?
A.Asking parents for help with all homework.
B.Letting parents choose all clothes for them.
C.Washing their own clothes and tidying rooms.
D.Refusing to talk to parents about their life.
39.What can we learn from the passage about the improvement of teenagers’ ability?
A.It makes teenagers more dependent on parents.
B.It makes teenagers less confident in life.
C.It helps teenagers face more challenges in life.
D.It makes teenagers only able to do simple things.
40.What is the best title for the passage?
A.The Changes in Teenage Growth

D.The Relationship Between Teenagers and Parents

37.What does the underlined word “dependent” mean in Paragraph 2?

A.Asking parents for help with all homework.
B.Letting parents choose all clothes for them.
C.Washing their own clothes and tidying rooms.
D.Refusing to talk to parents about their life.
39.What can we learn from the passage about the improvement of teenagers’ ability?
A.It makes teenagers more dependent on parents.

D.It makes teenagers only able to do simple things.
40.What is the best title for the passage?
