Did you ever wish you could show your dreams to your friends or family? Now you might be able to, with a new device (设备) that uses AI to create videos from spoken words.
The Dream Recorder, created by the Dutch design studio Modem, is a bedside device on which you can record your dreams and play them back as short videos.
The idea is that as soon as you wake up, you push a record button on the Dream Recorder and speak into it—in any language—describing what you remember of your dream.
AI technology will then interpret your spoken dream and create a short video based on it in a visual style (视觉风格) of your choice. You can then play back this video on the Dream Recorder’s screen.
The creators of the Dream Recorder say these videos can be used to help you think about the meaning of your dreams and how they might affect your waking life.
However, you can’t keep these dream videos forever, because the Dream Recorder only has enough memory (存储量) for seven days of dreams. That should be long enough to see if there are any repeated themes in your dreams, while keeping your mind on the present.
The Dream Recorder is also an open-source (开放源代码的) DIY device that you can build yourself. All the code and the details you need to build it are available to download for free online. All you need to do is buy or 3D-print the parts you need to make it.
7. Why was the Dream Recorder created?
A. To replace traditional alarm clocks.
B. To turn people’s dreams into videos.
C. To help people sleep without dreaming.
8. What does the underlined word “interpret” probably mean?
A. Fix. B. Forget. C. Understand.
9. Why was the device designed to keep dreams for seven days?
A. To encourage users to focus on the present.
B. To prevent the device from getting too full.
C. To protect users’ personal information.
10. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. The company will send free parts to users.
B. Anyone can build this device if they want to.
C. It won’t be easy to buy the device in the future.

In Yunnan, China, a special clay figure called “wamao” can often be seen on rooftops. These clay cats, with their big eyes and open mouths, might look a bit scary, but locals believe they protect homes from bad luck and bring peace. In 2023, wamao was recognized as Yunnan’s provincial intangible cultural heritage.
Zhang Hang, a 32-year-old artist, is an inheritor (继承人) of the Kunming wamao-making skill. He first discovered wamao in 2012 while studying folk art design at Yunnan Arts University. Deeply attracted by this traditional art form, he began collecting old wamao from villages. Now his Heart Chamber Wamao Museum has over 700 pieces. “Each wamao carries history, culture, and people’s hopes for prosperity,” Zhang says.
To create a wamao, Zhang first mixes special clay, then shapes it by hand. After drying the figure naturally, he fires it in a kiln (窑). While skilled artisans can complete one cat in a week, Zhang sometimes spends a month perfecting a design that blends tradition with innovation. He also creates modern products like refrigerator magnets (磁贴) and holds workshops in schools. Through exhibitions and creative products, he works to help young people understand this ancient craft and give it new meaning in modern society.

B 8. C 9. A 10. B
The Dream Recorder, created by the Dutch design studio Modem, is a bedside device on which you can record your dreams and play them back as short videos.
AI technology will then interpret your spoken dream and create a short video based on it in a visual style of your choice.
That should be long enough to see if there are any repeated themes in your dreams, while keeping your mind on the present.

前文讲述陈一诺5岁起家中住过很多互惠生姐姐,彼此亲如姐妹;B项“Years later, she decided to travel abroad to find them again.”
前文回忆美国互惠生Lisa教她骑车并在车轮装小相机的经历,A项“That experience helped her realize the magic of images.”
