Unit 12 Innovation-Topic talk Innovation 教学目标和重难点 教学目标 It focuses on language competence to use innovation-related words and expressions; cultivates cultural awareness to understand global innovation achievements; develops thinking quality to think critically about innovation; and promotes learning ability to explore innovation independently and cooperatively. 教学重难点 Key points: Master innovation-related vocabulary and expressions, and talk about innovation cases and views fluently. Difficult points: Use complex sentences to express personal opinions on innovation and understand the deep meaning of innovation. 教学过程 Lead-in: Stimulate Interest and Activate Prior Knowledge The lead-in link is designed to arouse students' interest in the theme of innovation, connect their existing life experience and knowledge reserve with the new lesson content, and lay a foundation for the smooth development of the subsequent teaching activities. First, the teacher will show students a set of pictures and short video clips through multimedia equipment. The pictures include great innovative inventions that have changed the world, such as the smartphone, the Internet, and new energy vehicles, as well as common innovative phenomena in daily life, such as reusable shopping bags and intelligent water-saving devices. The video clip is a 2-minute short film that briefly introduces the impact of innovation on people's life, work and study. While watching, students are asked to think about two questions: “What do these pictures and videos have in common?” and “Can you think of other innovative examples around you?” After watching, the teacher will invite 3-4 students to share their thoughts and answers. Some students may mention that all these are related to innovation, some may list innovative products they have used, and others may talk about innovative behaviors in their study and life. The teacher will affirm and praise the students' answers, and then naturally lead to the theme of this lesson: Innovation. The teacher will briefly explain that innovation is not only a great invention that changes the world, but also a small improvement in daily life, which is closely related to everyone. This link not only stimulates students' learning interest, but also activates their prior knowledge about innovation, and helps students establish a preliminary understanding of the connotation of innovation. In order to further mobilize students' enthusiasm, the teacher will organize a quick brainstorming activity. Students are asked to say as many words related to innovation as possible within 2 minutes, such as “invent”, “create”, “creative”, “invention”, “breakthrough” and so on. The teacher will write down these words on the blackboard one by one, and then sort out and summarize them, laying a foundation for the subsequent learning of key vocabulary. During the activity, the teacher will encourage all students to participate actively, especially those who are relatively shy, and guide them to express their ideas boldly, so as to create a relaxed and active classroom atmosphere. Presentation: Learn Key Vocabulary and Expressions On the basis of the lead-in link, this link focuses on helping students master the key vocabulary, phrases and sentence patterns related to the theme of innovation, which is the key to improving students' language competence. The teacher will take the words sorted out in the brainstorming activity as the starting point, and further expand and explain the core vocabulary and expressions in this Topic Talk. First, the teacher will introduce the core vocabulary one by one, including nouns such as “innovation”, “invention”, “breakthrough”, “creativity”, “idea”, verbs such as “invent”, “create”, “develop”, “improve”, “promote”, adjectives such as “creative”, “innovative”, “original”, “practical”, and adverbs such as “creatively”, “innovatively”. For each word, the teacher will pronounce it clearly, explain its meaning in simple English, and give typical example sentences closely related to the theme of innovation. For example, when explaining “innovation”, the teacher will say: “Innovation refers to the introduction of new ideas, methods, or products. For example, the innovation of smartphones has changed the way we communicate.” When explaining “creative”, the teacher will give the example sentence: “She is a very creative student who often comes up with new ideas in group activities.” In addition to single words, the teacher will also focus on explaining the key phrases and sentence patterns in this lesson, such as “come up with an idea”, “make a breakthrough”, “contribute to”, “play an important role in”, “It is important for us to innovate.”, “Innovation helps us solve problems more effectively.”, etc. For each phrase and sentence pattern, the teacher will explain its usage in detail, give example sentences, and guide students to read aloud repeatedly to help them master the pronunciation and usage skills. At the same time, the teacher will combine the examples in the lead-in link to let students use these phrases and sentence patterns to describe the innovative cases they know, so as to realize the immediate application of knowledge and deepen their memory. In order to ensure that all students master the key vocabulary and expressions, the teacher will organize a small-scale practice activity. Students will be divided into groups of 4, and each group will be given a set of pictures of innovative cases. They need to use the newly learned vocabulary, phrases and sentence patterns to describe the pictures. After the group discussion, each group will send a representative to present their descriptions to the whole class. The teacher will comment on the students' performances, point out their advantages and deficiencies, and correct the wrong usages in time. This activity not only helps students consolidate the newly learned knowledge, but also improves their oral expression ability and cooperative learning ability. Practice: Deepen Understanding and Improve Language Application Ability This link is the key part of the teaching process, which aims to help students further deepen their understanding of the theme of innovation, flexibly use the learned vocabulary and expressions, and improve their language application ability through a variety of practice activities. The practice activities are designed from easy to difficult, from single-skill training to comprehensive application, to meet the learning needs of different students. First, carry out listening practice. The teacher will play a short dialogue about innovation twice. The dialogue is between two students, talking about their views on innovation, their favorite innovative inventions and the importance of innovation. Before listening, the teacher will put forward two listening tasks for students: 1. What are the two students talking about? 2. What is the girl's favorite innovative invention? After the first listening, students will be asked to answer the first question and check their understanding of the main idea of the dialogue. After the second listening, students will answer the second question and fill in the blanks of the key information in the dialogue (such as key vocabulary and phrases). After the listening practice, the teacher will play the dialogue again, explain the key points and difficult points in the dialogue, and check the students' answers. This listening practice not only improves students' listening comprehension ability, but also helps them review the key vocabulary and expressions learned earlier. Next, carry out oral practice. The oral practice is divided into two parts: pair work and group discussion. In the pair work, students will work in pairs to discuss the following questions: 1. What is innovation in your opinion? 2. What are the benefits of innovation to our life and study? 3. Do you think you are a creative person? Why or why not? Before the discussion, the teacher will give students 3 minutes to think and organize their language, and remind them to use the newly learned vocabulary, phrases and sentence patterns. During the discussion, the teacher will walk around the classroom, listen to the students' discussions, and give timely guidance to students who have difficulties in expression. After the pair work, the teacher will invite several pairs of students to present their discussions to the whole class, and make comments and evaluations, encouraging students to express their views more fluently and clearly. In the group discussion, students will be divided into groups of 5-6, and each group will be given a discussion topic: “How can we cultivate our innovative ability in daily study and life?” The teacher will give students 8 minutes to discuss, and ask each group to assign a recorder to record the key points of the discussion and a presenter to present the group's views. During the discussion, the teacher will guide students to think from multiple angles, such as developing the habit of observing, daring to put forward different opinions, learning from others' experience, and actively participating in practical activities. After the discussion, each group will take turns to present their views. The teacher will summarize the students' views, affirm the reasonable suggestions, and supplement some practical methods to cultivate innovative ability, such as reading more books about innovation, participating in innovation competitions, and trying to solve problems in different ways. This group discussion not only improves students' oral expression ability and cooperative learning ability, but also cultivates their thinking quality and innovative awareness. Then, carry out reading practice. The teacher will distribute a short passage about innovation to students. The passage introduces the definition of innovation, the characteristics of innovative people, and some typical innovative cases in different fields (such as science and technology, education, and medical care). Before reading, the teacher will put forward three reading tasks: 1. What is the main idea of the passage? 2. What are the characteristics of innovative people mentioned in the passage? 3. What innovative cases are mentioned in the passage? Students will read the passage independently, and then complete the reading tasks. After reading, the teacher will organize students to exchange their answers, and explain the key and difficult sentences in the passage, such as long sentences and complex sentences, to help students improve their reading comprehension ability. At the same time, the teacher will guide students to find out the key vocabulary and phrases in the passage that they have learned earlier, and further consolidate their memory and usage. Finally, carry out writing practice. The writing task is to write a short passage of 80-100 words about “My View on Innovation”. The teacher will guide students to sort out their ideas first: first, briefly explain the definition of innovation, then talk about the importance of innovation, and finally put forward their own views on how to cultivate innovative ability. During the writing process, the teacher will remind students to use the newly learned vocabulary, phrases and sentence patterns, and pay attention to the coherence and logic of the passage. After writing, students will exchange their passages with their deskmates, and help each other revise and improve them. The teacher will collect some typical passages, comment on them in class, point out their advantages and deficiencies, and give guidance on how to improve their writing ability. This writing practice not only consolidates the students' language knowledge, but also improves their writing ability and logical thinking ability. Consolidation and Extension: Integrate Knowledge and Cultivate Innovative Awareness This link aims to help students integrate the knowledge learned in this lesson, extend the theme of innovation, and further cultivate their innovative awareness and learning ability. First, the teacher will lead students to review the key content of this lesson, including core vocabulary, phrases, sentence patterns, and the main points of the discussion on innovation. Students will be invited to summarize the key content of this lesson, and the teacher will supplement and improve it to ensure that students have a comprehensive grasp of the knowledge learned. Then, carry out an extension activity: “Innovation Design Competition”. Students will be asked to design a small innovative product or put forward an innovative idea according to their own life experience and needs. They need to briefly introduce the design concept, function and advantages of the product or idea, using the language knowledge learned in this lesson. Students can complete this activity independently or in groups. After the design is completed, each student or group will present their design to the whole class. The teacher will organize students to vote for the “Most Creative Design”, and give small rewards to the winners. This activity not only stimulates students' innovative enthusiasm, but also enables them to apply the knowledge learned in this lesson to practice, and improves their innovative ability and practical ability. In addition, the teacher will recommend some extracurricular resources related to innovation to students, such as English documentaries about innovation, English articles introducing famous inventors, and innovation-related English websites. Students are asked to read or watch these resources after class, and write a short reading or viewing report to share their gains and insights in the next class. This not only extends the teaching content, but also helps students improve their autonomous learning ability and expand their horizons. Summary and Homework: Consolidate Knowledge and Promote Continuous Learning In the summary link, the teacher will first summarize the main content of this lesson, emphasizing the key vocabulary, phrases and sentence patterns related to innovation, as well as the connotation and importance of innovation. Then, the teacher will review the performance of students in this lesson, affirm their efforts and achievements, and put forward some suggestions for improvement, such as paying more attention to the accumulation of vocabulary, daring to express their views, and cultivating the habit of thinking innovatively. The homework is designed to consolidate the knowledge learned in this lesson and promote students' continuous learning and exploration of innovation. The homework includes three parts: 1. Recite the key vocabulary, phrases and sentence patterns learned in this lesson, and write 5 example sentences with each key phrase. 2. Complete the short passage about “My View on Innovation” revised in class, and polish the language and logic to make it more perfect. 3. Explore an innovative invention in detail after class, find out its background, function and impact, and prepare a 3-minute oral report to be presented in the next class. This homework not only helps students consolidate the knowledge learned, but also improves their oral expression ability, writing ability and autonomous learning ability. At the end of the class, the teacher will encourage students to keep an innovative mind in daily life, dare to explore, dare to practice, and use the knowledge and skills learned to solve practical problems, so as to truly realize the educational value of this lesson. 1 / 1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
