Researchers from an australian university found that in average of around two thousand plastic particles, which are about the weight of a credit card, are getting into our body through our food, drinking water and even the air every week. These tiny particles are smaller than five millimeters, and they originate from a variety of sources, including man made close fibers, materials used in some tooth bases, or bigger pieces of plastic, which gradually break into smaller pieces when they're thrown away and exposed outside in nature. The plastic makes its wag into our rivers and oceans and can be eaten by fish and other marine animals, ending up as part of the food chain. According to the research, the largest source of plastic particles that get into our body is drinking water. The average person consumes as many as one thousand seven hundred sixty nine plastic particles every week just by drinking water, bottled or from the tap. Right now, it's almost impossible to stop this from happening, but there is still something we can do in our daily life. For example, every time we wash our clothes. And average of nine million plastic particles are released into the environment. So don't wash them unless we have to, said one of the researchers. D.A research paper. B As a child, I was transported to the US. To fit in at school, I kept quiet as I furiously learned how to speak just like the American kids — to say “flashlight” and “trunk”, instead of button. Gradually, I sounded just like everyone else. Unfortunately, with the confusing logic of the under-10s, I decided that my parent would feel betrayed if I lost my English accent. Besides, we’d be moving home in a few years. If I sounded American, I’d be the odd one out all over again. So I landed on my genius plan: I’d be Yankee at school and English at home. All went smoothly until a new friend agreed to come over to play, and I had to face both my English parent and American friend in one room. So I developed the coping techniques I would rely on for the next 5 years, which ranged from not speaking at all to muttering to my friends so that only they could hear; if forced to speak, I would use words that sounded the same in both accents. There hasn’t been much research into “bidialectalism”, perhaps because it’s something we all do: the way you speak defines you. After moving back to the UK, my parents were pleasantly surprised that I would now speak to them with my friends present, but I was also questioning when and whether to speak, and wondering who was listening. Brené Brown once said that trying to fit in is the opposite of true belonging. She had a point. Later, some American friends were due to visit us. Somehow, I made my decision: enough was enough and I was tired of fitting in. So, cautiously, I used my British voice, and said “jumper” instead of “sweater”. No one noticed or mentioned it for the first few days. Until, eventually, during a card game, one friend suddenly looked up, and said “Hey, you sound British now! Go fish.” And that was that. 24.What do we know about author’s “genius plan”? A.It’s a fake commitment to fit in. B.It’s a good way to improve author’s English C.It’s an immature decision to appear thoughtful D.It’s a great opportunity to show author’s language gift. 25.What does the underlined word “bidialectalism” refer to in the 2nd paragraph? A.The tendency to disguise your own accent. B.The way that a particular person uses English. C.The local tongue spoken in a small community. D.The good knowledge of two forms of the same language. 26.Why did the author stop shifting between British and American English? A.Because the author lacked the sense of belonging. B.Because the author decided to present him/herself as it is C.Because the author disagreed with what Brené Brown said. D.Because the author was fed up with parroting the people around. 27.Which can be the most suitable title of the passage? A.Accent is a double-edged sword! B.When in Rome, do as Romans do! C.Clear language depends on clear thinking! D.Better to be hated for what you’re than loved for what you’re not! C New research indicates that physical activity lowers cardiovascular (心血管的) disease risk in part by reducing stress-related signals in the brain. In the study, which was led by investigators at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), people with stress-related conditions such as depression experienced the most cardiovascular benefits from physical activity. To assess the mechanisms (机制) underlying the psychological and cardiovascular disease benefits of physical activity, Ahmed Tawakol, MD, an investigator and cardiologist in the Cardiovascular Imaging Research Center at MGH, and his colleagues analyzed medical records and other information of 50,359 participants from the Mass General Brigham Biobank who completed a physical activity survey. A subset of 774 participants also underwent brain imaging tests and measurements of stress-related brain activity. Over a median follow-up of 10 years, 12.9% of participants developed cardiovascular disease. Participants who met physical activity recommendations had a 23% lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease compared with those not meeting these recommendations. Individuals with higher levels of physical activity also tended to have lower stress-related brain activity. Significantly, reductions in stress-related brain activity were driven by gains in function in the prefrontal cortex (前额叶皮质), a part of the brain involved in executive (执行的) function (i.e. decision making and impulse control). It is known to control stress centers of the brain. As an extension of this finding, the researchers found in a group of 50,359 participants that the cardiovascular benefit of exercise was substantially greater among participants who would be expected to have higher stress-related brain activity, such as those with pre-existing depression. Analyses accounted for other lifestyle variables and risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Moreover, reductions in stress-related brain signals partially accounted for physical activity’s cardiovascular benefit. “Physical activity was roughly twice as effective in lowering cardiovascular disease risk among those with depression. Effects on the brain’s stress-related activity may explain this novel observation,” said Tawakol, who is the senior author of the study. 28.Why did the research group analyze medical data of the participants? A.To assess the impact of cardiovascular disease. B.To find out how exercise lowers cardiovascular risk. C.To decide the mechanisms of cardiovascular disease. D.To test how much physical activity the participants needed. 29.How may physical activity lower cardiovascular disease risk? A.By promoting function of the brain. B.By controlling stress centers of the brain. C.By decreasing stress-related brain activity. D.By reducing executive function of the brain. 30.What advice may Tawakol give? A.To work out regularly. B.To eat healthily. C.To be in a good mood. D.To avoid cardiovascular disease. 31.In which section may the text appear in a newspaper? A.Mind and learning. B.Matter and energy. C.Science and society. D.Health and medicine. D Scientists have uncovered communities of animals living in volcanic caves beneath the seafloor, revealing a previously unknown but thriving ecosystem. Previous research had found microbes (微生物) living underground near hydrothermal vents (热液喷口), but this is the first reported discovery of larger animals such as tubeworms and snails in the underground habitat. Hydrothermal vents are cracks in the seafloor where hot water from the Earth’s core mixes with seawater. Much of the ocean floor is considered nearly uninhabitable, but around hydrothermal vents there’s an explosion of life. Communities of shrimp, crabs, tubeworms, and hundreds of unique animal: species have been previously found around, but not underneath, these vents. They’re known as “extremophiles”, or life that can survive under extremely high temperatures and pressure. These species survive not on the sun’s energy, which fuels the food web elsewhere on Earth, but on nutrients produced when seawater mixes with magma (岩浆). Recent scientific research has revealed that tubeworms and sea snails can be found not only on top of the seafloor but also underneath rocky sections. This discovery has the potential to significantly advance our understanding of these species’ life cycle and behavior. The researchers think tubeworms might disperse throughout the caves, with some settling and growing in cracks on the seafloor and others staying in the caves and growing to adulthood there — which would mean the seafloor and small caves underneath are an interconnected ecosystem, where cold and warm water flows mix and promote tubeworm growth. The hydrothermal vent ecosystem in this area is not restricted to what we see above but includes life in the subsurface. Deep-sea mining, which involves extracting (获取) minerals from the deep seabed, is a major threat to deep-sea ecosystems and is opposed by scientists a on organizations. “We don’t know how extensive those connected little caves are, and we’re unable to assess the biodiversity within the subsurface. Since seafloor ecosystems are likely interconnected. Large stretches of the seafloor need to be protected,” says Rachel Lauer, a geologist at the University of Calgary. 32.What do we know about “extremophiles”? A.They have a simple life cycle. B.They survive on nutrients from seawater-magma mixtures. C.They live only on top of the seafloor. D.They are newly found around hydrothermal vents. 33.Which of the following can replace the underlined word “disperse” in paragraph 3? A.distribute B.adapt C.hide D.reproduce 34.What does the discovery imply for conservation? A.Isolated ecosystems need individual protection. B.Mining is the only threat to deep-sea life. C.Broad seafloor protection is essential. D.Subsurface biodiversity is fully mapped. 35.Which title best summarizes the text? A.Tubeworms’ Life Cycle Revealed B.Hidden Subsurface Ecosystem Discovered C.Threats to Deep-Sea Biodiversity D.Hydrothermal Vents and Extremophiles While yoga is known for enhancing balance, flexibility, and calmness, it’s often considered less effective for weight loss than other exercises. However, even non-intense yoga sustains lasting calorie burning after practice. 36 . Here’s more about how yoga is a complete body and mind workout. Removing stress, Reducing pounds Yoga helps manage stress, and studies show high levels of cortisol, a stress hormone (荷尔蒙), can lead to an increase in fat. Yoga has an impact on the body’s stress response and reduces the production of hormones linked to weight again. 37 . In one study, researchers found that practicing yoga seemed to impact the hypothalamus (下丘脑), reducing cortisol production. And another study found that doing meditative (冥想的) yoga reduced participants’ cortisol levels. Making weight loss last Recent research shows long-term yoga aids weight loss and boosts cognitive skills for a positive mood. Jessica, a Brown University professor, led a study on yoga’s practicability of weight maintenance. 38 . Jessica adds that someone experiencing a more positive mood may be less likely to overeat in response to negative emotions, or may be able to get back on track more easily after an overeating period, versus feeling guilty about overeating and continuing to engage in unhealthy practices. 39 A study found no difference in weight loss totals for participants practicing a gentle yoga versus a more energetic yoga. The best yoga is the practice that fits for you. ‘There are many accessible styles of yoga that meet you where you’re no matter what your size, age, physical challenge or background. 40 . A.Practicing a gentle yoga B.Choosing the right type C.Everybody can benefit from a yoga practice D.There’s no one style of yoga that’s best for weight loss E.That’s because yoga’s other benefits can help with weight loss too F.Several studies have confirmed that doing yoga does reduce cortisol levels G.It shows yoga may enhance long-term weight loss via a more positive mood 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 My life as an exchange student finally began! Bilal, a teenager, was excited to finally have the free time to play video games on his PlayStation and endlessly surf the internet on his phone. The digital world was his playground, a place where he could escape into adventures and challenges that kept him entertained for hours on end. His parents were tired of always trying to stop him, constantly telling him that spending so much time online and on social media wasn’t good for his physical health. They worried about his eyesight and the lack of physical activity. But Bilal never listened. He was very addicted to the e-world. The appeal of virtual achievements and social interactions was too strong for him to resist. One day, after getting fed up, his mother discussed Bilal with his grandparents. “Is there any way we can get him away from this internet world?” she asked, her voice filled with desperation. His grandfather replied, “Yes, there is a way. I am planning to visit our village for a week. I am thinking of taking Bilal along. It will be a new experience for him to see a simple lifestyle. Besides, the internet signals are very bad there, so he won’t be able to stay online very often.” His mother was happy to hear this. “That’s a very good idea,” she replied, hopeful that this could be the turning point for Bilal. She excitedly went and shared it with Bilal, hoping he would be happy about going with his grandparents, but he refused, saying the trip would be boring without the internet. “How would I spend my days?” he complained. Just then his grandmother entered the room and explained calmly to him that it would be an exciting trip. She spoke of the beauty of nature, the joy of community, and the simple pleasures of life away from screens. She told him stories of the village, of the stars at night and the fresh air that filled the lungs with life. Two days later, Bilal’s grandparents started their journey. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A week passed quickly and it was time for Bilal to return. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第3页(共6页) 试题 第4页(共6页) 试题 第11页(共12页) 试题 第12页(共12页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025-2026学年高二下学期期中模拟卷02 英 语·参考答案 (考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分) 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分 30 分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 1—5 BAACC 第二节(共15小题;每小题1.5分,满分22.5分) 6—10 ABBCB 11—15 BACAA 16—20 CACCB 第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分50分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分) 21.B 22.D 23.C 24.C 25.D 26.B 27.D 28.B 29.C 30.A 31.D 32.B 33.A 34.C 35.B 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 36.E 37.F 38.G 39.B 40.C 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 41.B 42.C 43.A 44.B 45.D 46.C 47.A 48.B 49.B 50.A 51.D 52.C 53.A 54.C 55.D 第二节(共10小题;每小题1. 5分, 满分15分) 56.symbolic 57.and 58.as 59.a 60.dropped 61.it 62.when 63.totally 64.chances 65.Given 第四部分 写作(共两节, 满分40分) 第一节(满分15分) 66.Dear Mr. Smith, I hope this email finds you well. After arriving at their old house, which was large and open, they had dinner with their relatives. The next morning. Bilal went to the fields, where the farmers greeted him warmly. Bilal wandered around the fields full of beautiful flowers and fruit trees. He explored the cotton fields, learning how farmers harvest the crops. He also participated in the work. Additionally, Bilal made friends with the village children and played outdoor games. He felt so interested in the new experience that he didn’t even miss playing video games.     A week passed quickly and it was time for Bilal to return. He didn’t want to leave because he had started enjoying the simple village life that brought him many new enriching experiences. His grandparents promised him that they would return to the place annually or during his extended school breaks. On the journey back, Bilal thought that coming to the village was the best thing that had happened to him. He had experienced a new lifestyle, enjoyed quality time, and made wonderful memories — all without the internet! 1.What is the man satisfied with about the kitchen? A.Use special toothpaste. B.Wash clothes less often. C.Stay away from seafood. M: Researchers from an Australian university found that an average of around 2,000 plastic particles, which are about the weight of a credit card, are getting into our body through our food, drinking water and even the air every week. These tiny particles are smaller than five millimeters, and they originate from a variety of sources, including man-made clothes fibers, materials used in some toothpastes, or bigger pieces of plastic which gradually break into smaller pieces when they’re thrown away and exposed outside in nature. The plastic makes its way into our rivers and oceans, and can be eaten by fish and other marine animals, ending up as part of the food chain. According to the research, the largest source of plastic particles that get into our body is drinking water. The average person consumes as many as 1,769 plastic particles every week just by drinking water—bottled or from the tap. “Right now it’s almost impossible to stop this from happening, but there is still something we can do in our daily life. For example, every time we wash our clothes, an average of nine million plastic particles are released into the environment so don’t wash them unless we have to.” said one of the researchers. A Welcome to Clay (陶土) Club. The tour is designed for children. However, an adult must accompany them at all times.(建议年龄为6岁及以上至10岁,所有想参加的孩子都需要购票。 根据POTTER’S WHEEL CLASS中的“We have designed our 30-minute potter’s wheel session specifically for children to get hands-on experience with clay and learn and create their very own pot!(我们特别为孩子们设计了30分钟的陶轮体验课程,让他们亲手感受陶土魅力,学习并制作属于自己的陶器)”以及“Clay and aprons (围裙) are provided.(提供粘土和围裙)”可知,在陶轮体验课上,孩子们可以使用提供的材料亲手制作陶罐。故选D。 23. Build your perfect day out at World of Wedgwood, selecting some activities that will keep your potter entertained!(欢迎来到陶艺俱乐部! C。 B As a child, I was transported to the US. 根据第一段“Unfortunately, with the confusing logic of the under-10s, I decided that my parent would feel betrayed if I lost my English accent. Besides, we’d be moving home in a few years. If I sounded American, I’d be the odd one out all over again. So I landed on my genius plan: I’d be Yankee at school and English at home. 根据第一段“So I landed on my genius plan: I’d be Yankee at school and English at home. (于是,我实现了我的天才计划:我在学校是美国佬,在家是英国人)”以及第二段“There hasn’t been much research into “bidialectalism”, perhaps because it’s something we all do: the way you speak defines you. 根据第三段“Later, some American friends were due to visit us. Somehow, I made my decision: enough was enough and I was tired of fitting in. So, cautiously, I used my British voice, and said “jumper” instead of “sweater”. 根据全文内容,特别是最后一段“Brené Brown once said that trying to fit in is the opposite of true belonging. She had a point. Later, some American friends were due to visit us. Somehow, I made my decision: enough was enough and I was tired of fitting in. 根据第三段中的“To assess the mechanisms (机制) underlying the psychological and cardiovascular disease benefits of physical activity, Ahmed Tawakol, MD, an investigator and cardiologist in the Cardiovascular Imaging Research Center at MGH, and his colleagues analyzed medical records and other information of 50,359 participants from the Mass General Brigham Biobank who completed a physical activity survey. 根据最后一段“Physical activity was roughly twice as effective in lowering cardiovascular disease risk among those with depression. 故选A。 31. 通读全文,尤其是第一段“New research indicates that physical activity lowers cardiovascular (心血管的) disease risk in part by reducing stress-related signals in the brain.(新的研究表明,体育锻炼可以通过减少大脑中与压力相关的信号来降低心血管疾病的风险。)” D。 D Scientists have uncovered communities of animals living in volcanic caves beneath the seafloor, revealing a previously unknown but thriving ecosystem. 根据第二段中“They’re known as “extremophiles”, or life that can survive under extremely high temperatures and pressure. These species survive not on the sun’s energy, which fuels the food web elsewhere on Earth, but on nutrients produced when seawater mixes with magma 根据划线词后文“with some settling and growing in cracks on the seafloor and others staying in the caves and growing to adulthood there(一些在海底的裂缝中定居和成长,另一些则留在洞穴中并生长到成年)”可知,研究人员推测管虫可能分散到整个洞穴,有的在海底裂缝中定居生长,有的留在洞穴中并生长到成年,所以“disperse”意为“分散、分布”,与“distribute”同义,故选A。 34. 根据最后一段中““We don’t know how extensive those connected lit S are, and we’re unable to assess the biodiversity within the subsurface. Since seafloor ecosystems are likely interconnected. 38 . 注意: 1.续写词数应为150个左右;2.请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。 Two days later, Bilal’s grandparents started their journey. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A week passed quickly and it was time for Bilal to return. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】    Two days later, Bilal’s grandparents started their journey. 词汇激活 行为类 ①探索:probe /explore ②参加:participate in /take part in ③承诺:promise /commit ④问候:greet/ extend greetings to 情绪类 绝妙的:wonderful / splendid 【点睛】[高分句型1] He didn’t want to leave because he had started enjoying the simple village life that brought him many new enriching experiences.
