Tan Haoxuan, 14: Chinese is harder for me to learn than subjects like physics. I often find it hard to get the meanings of passages or the feelings behind the writer’s words. It was the last day of the school year. The classroom was filled with excitement. When our teacher, Mr. Johnson, walked in, holding a CD player, everyone’s face lit up with a smile. We knew that this wasn’t going to be another normal day, but a special one.
“Please calm down and sit,” said Mr. Johnson, “I’m glad everyone’s here for the final reading test of the year.” When everyone cried, Mr. Johnson laughed, saying it was just a joke. Then he reminded us that we still had a job to do. “You need to clean out your desks and put all your things into your backpacks.” he added gently.
As we began our task, Mr. Johnson turned on the CD player. The lively music made the room feel like a party. Some of us started singing along with the music, others were dancing around their desks while they were cleaning them out. Even Mr. Johnson showed us a few dance steps, making everyone laugh heartily. After we finished cleaning, someone asked, “When is break time?” Mr. Johnson took out some balls and started playing with them. Suddenly, he let the balls drop and said, “Break time starts ... now!”
Just as we were about to rush out, our headmaster, Mrs. Miller, appeared at the door. “Mr. Johnson!” she cried out. A moment of silence fell over the room as we thought, “Mr. Johnson might be in trouble.” However, to our surprise, Mrs. Miller couldn’t help but laugh at the sight and left us to enjoy our break.
During break time, Mr. Johnson surprised us with another treat. He went to the cafe and came back with ice creams for everyone. We all cheered for him!
As we walked back to the classroom, we passed Mrs. Miller’s office. Someone joked, “Don’t play with the ice creams, Mr. Johnson!” We all laughed together...

①Have you got many friends around you? Have you ever complained about not having good friends in your life? If yes, do you think that your own company is not enough to make them happy? As a matter of fact, in order to get along with others, the first thing you need to do is to be friends with yourself.
②Listen to your inner voice. Remember that inner voice keeps whispering to you about what you really want and need as well as what you do not really want and need. It is time you start listening to it. In order to get to know yourself well, it is important to learn and accept what you want and what you do not want.
③Learn to enjoy your own company. You will be surprised to find out how many things you can do by yourself and actually have fun in the process. Reading romantic novels, poetry or science fiction is only a few of the things that you can do by yourself, which not only can offer you hours of enjoyment, but also the chance to get to know yourself better.
④Satisfy yourself. Pay special attention to your personal hygiene (个人卫生). Do your hair and nails often and experiment with new styles. Follow a healthy diet and exercise regularly to stay in good shape. No matter how busy you are, always find at least an hour per day for yourself to relax either by doing absolutely nothing or doing something that you enjoy.
⑤Learn to respect your own boundaries (界线,底线). Find out what your boundaries are and learn to respect them. You are the only one who knows what you can and what you cannot accept. No one else can point that out to you, or force you to compromise (妥协).
⑥Only by getting along with yourself will you succeed in developing healthy relationships with others.
23. The writer starts to introduce the topic by ________.
A. telling stories B. giving examples
C. asking questions D. sharing experiences

26. What’s the main idea of the passage?
A. Try to get into the habit of living alone. B. Make friends with others in society.
C. Learn to be your own best friend first. D. Form healthy relationships with others.
【答案】23. C 24. D 25. B 26. C
【解析】
【导语】本文围绕“与自己做朋友”展开,提出了倾听内心、享受独处、取悦自己、尊重边界等方法,强调只有先和自己好好相处,才能建立健康的人际关系。
【23题详解】
第一段以连续三个问句“Have you got many friends around you? Have you ever complained about not having good friends in your life? If yes, do you think that your own company is not enough to make them happy?”
第四段提到“Follow a healthy diet and exercise regularly to stay in good shape.”,说明要规律锻炼保持健康,对应B选项正确;A选项“一直保持同款发型”与原文“experiment with new styles”相悖;C选项“每天花数小时工作”原文未提及;D选项“忽略个人卫生”与原文“Pay special attention to your personal hygiene”相悖。

People usually wear rings to look nice, to bring good luck, or perhaps to show that they’re married! But in the James Bond movies, the British secret agent (特工) has some very cool rings that can do other things. For example, in the 2002 movie Die Another Day, he wears a ring that can break glass: twist the ring and glass breaks just by touching it!
Now, technology experts have designed rings that can make any of us feel like a secret agent. Okay, these don’t break glass or catch bad guys. No, these rings let your fingers work like a computer mouse. Wear a special ring on your first finger, and you’ll be able to control your computer — scrolling (滚动) and clicking — without using your laptop’s touchpad (触控板).
One of the latest versions of these rings is made by a Swiss company called Padrone, which says its ring “turns any surface into a touchpad.” That means when you’re wearing the ring you can move your finger around on your desk — or on a lot of different flat surfaces — and control your computer. So if you’re working on a laptop, you don’t have to move your hand to the small touchpad — you can scroll, tap and zoom from a more comfortable position. Padrone’s ring connects to your computer using Bluetooth, and it works with sensors (传感器) and a very small camera inside.
The rings, which will come in different sizes, are not available just yet, but the company hopes people will be able to buy them in May, when they should cost about $280. But there are also cheaper ways to try out this type of technology. In fact, there are already apps you can install on a smartwatch that let you control your computer with just your finger or by tapping the watch!
27. Why does the British secret agent wear the ring according to Paragraph 1?
A. To look nice. B. To use as a tool.
C. To bring good luck. D. To show being married.
28. What can we know about the special ring from the passage?
A. The ring helps you truly act like a secret agent in our daily life.
B. The ring enables you to scroll by moving your hand on a touchpad.
C. The ring allows you to control your computer without using a touchpad.
D. The ring works when you move your finger to fully connect to the computer.
29. What is paragraph 3 mainly about?
A. The history of computer control technology B. The introduction of a special smart ring
C. The importance of traditional rings in life D. The functions of a smartwatch app
30. What can be learnt from the last paragraph?
A. Smartwatches are welcomed by the public. B. The smart ring is available now.
C. There are cheaper choices to try the technology. D. Padrone’s rings have more advantages over apps.
【答案】27. B 28. C 29. B 30. C
