The day was hot. The stockade was even hotter. Everyone was sleepy. I moved slowly and quietly through the forest to the shore. I looked toward the Hispaniola. Silver and one of the crew were leaving the ship.
“Ben Gunn’s boat will be hidden behind a rock,” I thought.
I looked behind every large rock. At last, I found his boat. It was very small, but it was big enough for me. My plan was to take it out to the Hispaniola and cut her ropes. She would then move toward the shore.
It was not easy to make the small boat go where I wanted it to. It took me a long time to get to the Hispaniola. But at last, I could hold the anchor rope. I began to cut it, but the rope was thick and strong.
The wind now became stronger. The Hispaniola began to move through the sea. She nearly pushed my little boat under the water. I was able to get out of her way just in time.
Then I heard shouting. The two drunken men ran out of the cabin. They knew the ship was moving, but they did not know why.
The sea was now rough because of the strong wind. I could not make my little boat go where I wanted it to. I lay at the bottom of my boat.
“Soon this boat will be full of water,” I thought. “Then I shall drown.” I closed my eyes. I thought of home.
I slept through the night in my small boat. It was nothing when I awoke.
My boat was now half full of water. The wind was still strong. The Hispaniola was moving this way and that way.
“No one is steering her,” I thought. “The two crew men are either drunk or they have drowned.”
Slowly I moved my boat toward the ship. It was very difficult. At one moment I was near the ship, the next the sea took me away from her. At last, I was near enough to take hold of the rope. Just then, the wind blew more strongly. Water filled my boat. She sank beneath me as I held on to the rope. I climbed the rope on to the Hispaniola.

①Would you like to get fewer colds and feel better? Would you like to have a taste of a special plant? Would you like to keep a plant with little care? An Aloe Vera (芦荟)plant could be just what the scientists may suggest!
②Growing Aloe Vera plants at home can make the air clean and fresh. Studies have shown that they give off oxygen(O₂) and take away harmful things from the air. With clean and fresh air, you are more likely to stay away from colds, sore throats and dry coughs. And even if you do get sick, Aloe Vera plants may help you get better from the illness faster.
③Did you know that Aloe Vera plants can be used as medicine? Aloe Vera gel(胶体) helps to deal with the pain of burns. And it also helps with itchiness(痒) caused by insect bites. ④Apart from medical use, Aloe Vera plants are also popular in food industry. Whether you are interested in Aloe Vera juice or crazy about Aloe Vera yogurt, you’ll easily find them in the supermarket. Aloe Vera can also go with other vegetables to make a safe dish on your dinner table.

三、阅读表达
Trying to find the perfect present is about as easy as trying to read someone’s mind. Few people will actually tell you what they want for a special occasion and most of the time your loved ones will insist that they don’t need or want anything! So, what to do? Here are some tips that could help.
Start Early
Starting your shopping early can have many advantages. For example, it gives you enough time to come up with ideas for what you should buy for your friends or family members. Moreover, the closer it gets to holidays, the higher the prices rise. So, save your money by being an early bird.
Make a List
Here, you can write down everything your friends or family members love. This can include food, hobbies, experiences and more. Then try to determine how to use this information to find a gift that perfectly suits them. If you are lucky, you should be able to find good ideas in one of these lists.
Think outside the Box
Often, the reason why you get stuck(卡住的) for gift ideas is that you only focus on the same kind of presents. If you are still coming up empty, it is time to get creative. You can find something your friends or family members can use every day. When in doubt, you can simply put smaller presents together to make up a larger, more meaningful gift.
Gift an Experience
In case you are still feeling a little stuck, go ahead and find something that the two of you can do together. It may be a class, or anything else where you can enjoy each other’s company(陪伴). In short, you will be able to give them the gift of friendship.
