Unit 6 Hitting the road Starting out + Understanding ideas Learning Objectives In this lesson you will: 1. learn some quotes and books about travelling; 2. get the detailed information about the writer’s “hot” and “cool” travelling experience in Sichuan; 3. talk about where you want to travel and why. What can you see in the picture? Look and Say A man and a boy are hiking in a forest or a mountain. The man is helping the boy step from a fallen tree trunk. They are both in outdoor outfits like shorts, T-shirts , sneakers and backpacks. They look focused and involved in the travel. What do you think the title means? “Hit the road” is an idiom. It means leaving a place or starting a new journey. e.g. I really enjoyed the party, but I think it's time to hit the road! e.g. We're going to hit the road early tomorrow to start our trip across the US. Have you ever travelled in a mountain or a forest? Did you have fun or not? Free Talk What did you learn from the travel? When do you want to hit the road for your next travel? Xunzi’s quote means that travel helps you know the world. Seneca’s quote implies that travel provides you with new feelings and experiences. When we travel, we see new things, meet new people, and have new experiences. All of these can make us feel excited and give our minds a break from our usual daily life.
