Pre-reading 1a 1. Have students discuss how sport and exercise are good for us with a partner. 2. Invite some volunteers to share their answers. 3. The teacher can also provide some sample answers for them, e, g. Sport and exercise can make us strong, help us relax and make us happy. 1b Show students the photos in the accounts and have them answer the questions: · What sports and exercises are the students doing? · What are their names? Scanning Have them scan the three students' accounts and discuss:What are the accounts about ? While-reading 1b 1. Have students read the three students' accounts and fill in the blanks with use an exercise app,skateboarding ,or play baseball, 2.Invite some volunteers to share their answers. 1e l. Let students read the accounts again and complete the table.2.Check the answers with the students.Read and Answer 2. Ask students to read Xia Tian's account and answer the questions: · Where do Xia Tian and his friends practise skateboarding? · How often do they practise skateboarding? · What does Xia Tian think of these tricks? · What characters do you think Xia Tian has? 3. Have students read Jenny's account and complete the table: If the students are at a high level,the teacher can show them some pictures of exercise devices such as sports watch and sports app,and then ask an additional question: Do your family members use any of these exercise devices to keep fit?Based on Jenny's account, the teacher can make a summary:Technology makes fitness easy and enjoyable. 3. Let students read Steve's account and answer the questions: · What does Steve think of his team? · What kind of person do you think Steve is? · What can you learn from the last two sentences? Post-reading Summary After reading the three students' accounts,how do you think exercise is good for you?Based on students’ answers, the teacher can summarize the thematic meaning of this passage:Exercise shapes your body and mind! ld 1. Check the answers and analyze the structure of the post.If necessary, the teacher can provide students with some useful expressions. 2b 1. Ask students to write a post about their favourite ways to keep fit using their mind maps. Show students a sample writing if necessary. 2. Invite some volunteers to share their posts and give feedback. Summary Ask students to summarize what they have learned in this lesson. Homework Finish the related exercises in the books produced by Youyi. Blackboard Design Write some useful expressions and the structure of the post on the blackboard. Teaching Reflection The lesson generally went as planned. Students actively participated in discussing sports and completing reading tasks, showing good engagement. However, some students had some difficulty organizing ideas when writing the post, even with mind maps.
