Here, we will share everything you need to know from how to get there to tips for a great experience. How to Get to Antarctica Taking a boat is the most common and economical way to get to Antarctica. If you don’t prefer to travel by water, you can fly into Antarctica from Punta Arenas in Chile, which takes only two hours. Flights usually only operate from December to February. Since there are no commercial flights available, you need to book your flight together with your cruise ship It’s also possible to fly from Cape Town, South Africa, in just 5 hours. The Best Things to Do in Antarctica There are 17 different types of penguins in Antarctica, which you can see on the main continent and the Falkland Islands. March and April are peak whale-watching months off the coast of Antarctica. During this time, you can spot various kinds of whales. Particular hotspots include Wilhelmina Bay and the Lemaire Channel. Exploring the land of Antarctica on foot is a unique way to experience its icy landscape. Deception Island and Orne Harbor are great places for hiking, while the snow-covered Antarctic Peninsula is a popular destination for snowshoeing. Tips for Visiting Antarctica First, stay within the luggage limits. Next, check your itinerary (行程) to make sure you see everything on your wish list. B(2025上学期高二·长沙雅礼中学期中) I was 16 years old the day I skipped school for the first time. It was easily done: Both my parents left for work before my school bus arrived, so when it showed up on that cold winter morning, I simply did not get on. The perfect crime! And what did I do with myself on that glorious stolen day? Did I get high? Hit the mall for a shoplifting extravaganza (狂欢)? Nope. I built a warm fire in the wood stove, prepared a bowl of popcorn, grabbed a blanket, and read. I was thrilled and transported by a book — it was Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises — and I just needed to be alone with it for a little while. I ached to know what would happen to Jake Barnes and Lady Brett Ashley and Robert Cohn. I couldn’t bear the thought of sitting in a classroom taking another biology exam when I could be traveling through Spain in the 1920s. I spent that day lost in words. Time fell away, as the room around me turned to mist, and my role — as a daughter, sister, teenager, and student — in the world no longer had any meaning. I had accidentally come across the key to perfect happiness: I had become completely absorbed by something I loved. Looking back on it now, I can see that some subtle things to my mind and to my life while I was in that state of absorption. Hemingway’s language was quietly braiding itself into my imagination. I was downloading information about how to create simple and elegant sentences, a good and solid plot. In other words, I was learning how to write. Without realizing it, I was hot on the trail of my own fate. Writing now absorbs me the way reading once did and happiness is their generous side effect. 24. Why did the author skip school on that day? A. Her parents left home early. B. It was a cold winter morning. C. She was fascinated by a novel. D. She hated to take the biology exam. 25. What did the author think was the source of true joy? A. Reading by the fire alone. B. Travelling in Spain freely. C. Breaking the regulations. D. Being occupied by one’s passion. 26. Which can best replace the underlined phrase “braiding itself into” in the last paragraph? A. Entering. B. Suspending. C. Adopting. D. Discouraging. 27. What can we infer from the passage? A. I was actually tired of my real-life roles. B. I learnt how to write on the Internet. C. Hemingway’s style influenced me a lot. D. Writing pleased me more than reading. C(2025上学期高二·浙江余姚中学期中) “Digital switching” is a term refers to the modern habit of swiping (刷) through and fast-forwarding online videos. Researchers from Canada did some exploration of it. Kay Y. Y. Tam, a psychology researcher, launched the study after noticing herself — and pretty much everyone else — swiping through online videos. This behavior was connected with the “Boredom Feedback Model”, a theory she had published in 2021. Boredom, she proposed, is rooted in attention shifts. These shifts often occur when there’s a gap between how engaged people actually feel and how engaged they want to feel. The unpleasant emotion can develop when a situation lacks novelty or meaning. “As digital switching involves frequent attention shifts, I wondered how this behavior might influence our feelings of boredom,” Tam said. In her study, more than 1,200 participants, many of them university students, first watched a single video for ten minutes. They were then presented with seven shorter videos, with the option to skip to the next. On average, they skipped eight times — but reported feeling more bored and less engaged when they watched the single video. Participants had a similar experience in another similar experiment. “I’m convinced that switching, when it comes to videos, is not a good idea if the goal is to have an enjoyable experience,” said Erin Westgate, a professor of psychology. “Sitting and toughing it out is likely a better choice.” The new findings add to a growing body of evidence that boredom is on the rise, despite a world filled with content we can access at all times. People who are bored often turn to their phones, only to feel more bored. Swiping on social media has also been linked to increased feelings of boredom. Boredom can motivate people to explore their environment and to stop investing time in an activity that has little to offer. However, if we rely too much on quick escapes, it would be like an animal jumping from tree to tree in search of food without staying long enough to see if a tree bears fruit. That animal risks starvation. 28. What is the cause of attention shifts according to Tam’s theory? A. The unsatisfied desire. B. The feeling of boredom. C. The degree of engagement. D. The lack of emotion. 29. What does Tam’s study of “digital switching” focus on? A. Its reason. B. Its consequence. C. The solution to it. D. The theory behind it. 30. What is the main purpose of the last paragraph? A. To solve a problem. B. To make a suggestion. C. To raise a question. D. To give a warning. 31. What does the comparison between “digital switching” and an animal jumping from tree to tree imply? A. Digital switching can lead to a waste of time and effort. B. Animals are more efficient than humans in searching for resources. C. Boredom is a natural response to unproductive activities. D. Quick escapes can prevent us from achieving meaningful engagement. D(2025上学期高二·南京一中期中) Faced with an attempt by a new chatbot to imitate (模仿) his own songs, the musician Nick Cave delivered a strong response: it was “an absolutely horrible attempt”. He understood that AI was in its babyhood, but could only conclude that the true horror might be that “it will forever be in its babyhood”. While a robot might one day be able to create a song, he wrote, it would never grow beyond “a kind of burlesque (滑稽的模仿)”, because robots-being composed of data-are unable to suffer, while songs arise out of suffering. Fans of Cave and his band will agree that his music is inimitable, but that doesn’t mean they would necessarily be able to tell the difference. A few days before Cave’s remarks, experts were asked to distinguish between four genuine artworks and their AI imitations. Their conclusions were wrong five times out of 12, and they were only unitedly right in one of the four picture comparisons. These are party games, but they point to an unfolding challenge that must be managed as a matter of urgency because, like it or not, AI art is upon us. The arrival of the human-impersonating ChatGPT might have increased general awareness, but artists across a wide range of disciplines are already exploring its potential, with the dancer Wayne McGregor and London’s Young Vic Theatre among those who have created AI-based works. A strongly-worded report from Communications and Digital Committee (CDC) issued a wake-up call to the government, urging it to raise its game in educating future generations of tech-savvy professionals, and tackling key regulatory challenges. These included reviewing reforms to intellectual property law, strengthening the rights of performers and artists, and taking action to support the creative sector in adapting to the disturbances caused by swift and stormy technological change. While developing AI is important, it should not be pursued at all costs, the CDC stressed. It deplored the failure of the Department for Digital, Culture, and Media to offer a defence against proposed changes to intellectual property law that would give copyright exemption (版权豁免) to any work, anywhere in the world, involving AI text and data mining. The challenges of AI are both philosophical, as Cave suggested, and practical. They will unfold over the short and long term. State-of-the-art creative industries have a key role to play in shaping and exploring the philosophical ones, but they must have the practical help they require to survive and be successful. They need it now. 32. Why does the author mention the four picture comparisons in Paragraph 2? A. To stress the similarities between AI art and human art. B. To argue that human art will be replaced by AI art. C. To prove AI is stretching the boundaries of art. D. To imply AI art cannot be underestimated. 33. What does the underlined word “deplored” in Paragraph 5 probably mean? A. Clearly analyzed. B. Bravely suffered. C. Strongly criticized. D. Accurately perceived. 34. What can be inferred from the passage? A. Some artists see AI as a tool even though it is a threat. B. Creative industries are responsible for causing the AI problem. C. Tech professionals need more training to better understand AI art. D The quality of AI art dismisses concerns about intellectual property. 35. Which would be the best title for the passage? A. The Creative Thief: AI Makes Perfect Art B. AI in Art: A Battle That Must Be Fought C. Threat or Opportunity: The Impact of AI on Art D. The Rise of AI Art: What It Means to Human Artists (2025上学期高二·安徽芜湖一中期中) To figure out how to choose a career, start by taking a good look at yourself. When the final bell rang, the students were reminded that there was no school on Monday—the Labor Day. “Enjoy your extra day off” said the teacher to her class. An extra day off unsuited Kayla just fine. She loved breaks. She wanted to go out to play with her friends. When the school bus dropped Kayla off, she ran into the house happily. “How was school, Kayla?” asked her mom. “It was great, Mom. I am excited about no school on Monday.” “You just started back to school two weeks ago. Already in need of a break, huh?” asked Kayla’s mom with a laugh. Kayla slept in the next morning. Saturday was her favorite day of the week. I trained most of the day, so Kayla enjoyed playing videogames inside. On Sunday, her friends came over and they played basketball for several hours. Then it was Labor Day, you know, the extra day off that Kayla was so looking forward to. But Kayla was awakened early that morning by her dad. He told Kayla that in honor of Labor Day, the family would be cleaning both inside and outside the house. Kayla couldn’t believe it. This was a holiday. A day when she was supposed to be enjoying freshly squeezed lemonade while playing in her tree house. As Kayla wiped here yes, she began to wonder if this was just a bad dream. “Kayla, your breakfast is ready. We have a lot of work to do today. Let’s get a move on,” said Kayla’s mom. As she sat down at the kitchen table, Kayla asked her parents, “Are you serious about working today? Isn’t Labor Day a holiday?” “Yes, Kayla. It is,” replied her dad. “But your mom and I thought working hard today would make you appreciate why Labor Day was observed in the first place.” At first Kayla felt disappointed at her parents’ plan for the holiday. ______________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ But things began to change as she was doing the chores. ______________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1 / 12 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $………………○……………… ………………○……………… ………………○……………… … 学校:______________姓名:_____________班级:_______________考号:______________________ 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 2025-2026学年高二下学期期中真题重组卷 英 语 (满分150分,考试用时120分钟) 注意事项: 1. 1. Doing something meaningful can also gain special pleasure. She was against the annoying plan from the bottom of her heart, but she had no choice. First, Kayla was arranged to wash the breakfast dishes. After that, she was asked to give their puppy a bath. She knew it was a hard task, which needed a lot of tiring, careful and patient work. She has begun the work with great unwillingness. Paragraph 2: But things began to change as she was doing the chores. Brushing the puppy, she found it was a lot of fun with so many soap bubbles. Then it was on to yard work where Kayla helped to pick up sticks. She pretended the small sticks were basketballs, and shot them into a large trash can. So the work was done with great pleasure. Kayla felt proud to see how much better the yard looked. When she finished her meaningful chores, Kayla enjoyed relaxing in her tree house. The lemonade tasted wonderful after a hard day of work. Can you fix the date for us to meet with nick? Here, we will share everything you need to know from how to get there to tips for a great experience.(尽管南极洲是地球上最偏远的地方之一,但到达南极洲并不像你想象的那么困难。 B(2025上学期高二·长沙雅礼中学期中) I was 16 years old the day I skipped school for the first time. C 25. D 26. A 27. I built a warm fire in the wood stove, prepared a bowl of popcorn, grabbed a blanket, and read. I was thrilled and transported by a book — it was Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises — and I just needed to be alone with it for a little while. 根据文章第三段“I had accidentally come across the key to perfect happiness: I had become completely absorbed by something I loved.(我偶然发现了通往完美幸福的钥匙:我全身心地投入到我所热爱的事情中。)” 根据画线词后文“I was downloading information about how to create simple and elegant sentences, a good and solid plot. In other words, I was learning how to write.( 我正在下载关于如何创建简单优雅的句子,一个好的和坚实的情节的信息。 故选A。 根据文章最后一段“Hemingway’s language was quietly braiding itself into my imagination. I was downloading information about how to create simple and elegant sentences, a good and solid plot. In other words, I was learning how to write. A 29. B 30. D 31. 根据第二段中的“Boredom, she proposed, is rooted in attention shifts. These shifts often occur when there’s a gap between how engaged people actually feel and how engaged they want to feel. The unpleasant emotion can develop when a situation lacks novelty or meaning.(她提出,无聊源于注意力转移。 故选A项。 根据第三段中的““As digital switching involves frequent attention shifts, I wondered how this behavior might influence our feelings of boredom,” Tam said.( ‘由于数字切换涉及频繁的注意力转移,我想知道这种行为可能如何影响我们的无聊感,’塔姆说。)”以及第四段中的“On average, they skipped eight times — but reported feeling more bored and less engaged when they watched the single video. Participants had a similar experience in another similar experiment.(平均来说,他们跳过了八次——但当他们观看单个视频时,他们表示感到更无聊,投入度更低。 根据最后一段“Boredom can motivate people to explore their environment and to stop investing time in an activity that has little to offer. However, if we rely too much on quick escapes, it would be like an animal jumping from tree to tree in search of food without staying long enough to see if a tree bears fruit. 根据最后一段中的“However, if we rely too much on quick escapes, it would be like an animal jumping from tree to tree in search of food without staying long enough to see if a tree bears fruit. The Rise of AI Art: What It Means to Human Artists 【答案】32. D 33. C 34. A 35. 根据第二段“A few days before Cave’s remarks, experts were asked to distinguish between four genuine artworks and their AI imitations. Their conclusions were wrong five times out of 12, and they were only unitedly right in one of the four picture comparisons. 根据划线词上文“While developing AI is important, it should not be pursued at all costs, the CDC stressed. 和画线单词所在句子“It deplored the failure of the Department for Digital, Culture, and Media to offer a defence (它deplored数字、文化和媒体部门未能提供辩护)”可知,开发人工智能很重要,但不应不惜一切代价追求它,这说明CDC对数字、文化和媒体部门未能提供辩护表示批评,故猜测deplored意思是批评,故选C。 根据第一段“He understood that AI was in its babyhood, but could only conclude that the true horror might be that “it will forever be in its babyhood”. While a robot might one day be able to create a song, he wrote, it would never grow beyond “a kind of burlesque (滑稽的模仿)”, because robots-being composed of data-are unable to suffer, while songs arise out of suffering. 故选A。 通读全文,尤其最后一段“The challenges of AI are both philosophical, as Cave suggested, and practical. They will unfold over the short and long term. State-of-the-art creative industries have a key role to play in shaping and exploring the philosophical ones, but they must have the practical help they require to survive and be successful. They need it now. (2025上学期高二·安徽芜湖一中期中) To figure out how to choose a career, start by taking a good look at yourself. List your skills and talents. No matter who you are, there are plenty of things you’re good at. You might know what those talents are already, but go ahead and make a list of every one that comes to mind. ____37____ Don’t leave out any of them, even if you don’t think it qualifies as a career skill. It means the work will fulfill you. ____38____ To keep commitment (投入) over a long time, you also need a deeper purpose. This purpose defines your mission: the contribution you want to make and the results you try to see. ____39____ Matters like how much money you want to make and where you want to live are important too. Think about these questions to narrow down your options: How much money do you need to make? Do you want flexibility in your job? What kind of benefits are important to you? What kind of environment do you excel in? If you’ve managed to get through everything above and have a clear answer for what you’re wired to do, congratulations! If you’re still unsure, that’s okay. ____40____ There’s only so much career shopping you can do before you have to just go for it. A. Consider the challenges you may meet. B. Think about practical parts of a job. C. However, passion alone isn’t enough. D. You don’t have to have this figured out by dinnertime. E. These are all hints that tell you what your strengths are. F. They combine to form a picture of what you’re wired to do. G. Your mission will follow if you’re passionate about your work. F 37. E 38. C 39. B 40. 【36题详解】 根据上文“Your talents, your passions and your mission are like the small wires (线). (你的天赋、热情和使命就像细小的线)”以及下文“From there, you’ll narrow the field further by looking at the specifics of different career options you’re most suited for. 【37题详解】 根据上文“You might know what those talents are already, but go ahead and make a list of every one that comes to mind. (你可能已经知道自己有哪些天赋,但还是要把能想到的都列出来)”以及下文“Don’t leave out any of them, even if you don’t think it qualifies as a career skill. (不要遗漏任何一项,即使你认为它算不上职业技能)”可知,上文建议列出自己的天赋,下文说注意不要遗漏,E选项“These are all hints that tell you what your strengths are. 【38题详解】 根据上文“If you’re going to find a meaningful career, passion isn’t just a pipe dream but a must. It means the work will fulfill you. 它意味着这份工作能让你获得满足感)”以及下文“To keep commitment (投入) over a long time, you also need a deeper purpose. This purpose defines your mission: the contribution you want to make and the results you try to see. 【39题详解】 根据下文“Matters like how much money you want to make and where you want to live are important too. Think about these questions to narrow down your options: How much money do you need to make? Do you want flexibility in your job? What kind of benefits are important to you? What kind of environment do you excel in? 可知,下文列举了一些选择职业时要考虑的实际问题,B选项“Think about practical parts of a job. 【40题详解】 根据上文“If you’ve managed to get through everything above and have a clear answer for what you’re wired to do, congratulations! If you’re still unsure, that’s okay. 如果你仍然不确定,也没关系)”以及下文“There’s only so much career shopping you can do before you have to just go for it. (2025上学期高二·安徽马鞍山二中期中) I came across an image of a distance runner with a caption (说明文字) that told readers to keep going at all costs. A. warned警告;B. convinced使确信;C. reminded提醒,使想起;D. informed通知。根据上文“I came across an image...(我看到一张图片...)” 固定搭配“remind sb. of sth.” A. approved of赞成;B. applied to申请;C. taken in吸收,欺骗;D. put off推迟。 A. reward报酬;B. scholarship奖学金;C. celebration庆祝;D. property财产。 A. offered提供;B. consumed消耗;C. expected期望;D. explored探索。 且与上文的“give me the best scholarship”中的“give”同义复现。故选A。 A. exposed暴露;B. committed承诺,使承担义务;C. opposed反对;D. made制作。根据上文“I paid them my $100 commitment fee.(我付给了他们100美元的定金。)” A. initial最初的;B. precise精确的;C. minor次要的;D. apparent明显的。 故选A。 A. attending参加;B. skipping跳过;C. switching转换,切换;D. visiting访问。根据下文“even if it meant admitting I’d “wasted” $100,”以及上文提到作者支付100美元定金承诺去南犹他大学可知,转学意味着浪费这100美元。 上文“an even better scholarship with full fees”和“even if it meant admitting I’d “wasted” $100”可知,作者在比较两个选择的经济利益:一个是已付100美元定金,一个是获得全额奖学金的更好机会。 故选A。 A. consumer消费者;B. civilian平民;C. victim受害者;D. loser失败者。上文“It seems obvious to me now that ___7___ schools, even if it meant admitting I’d “wasted” $100, was a better ___7___ decision.” A. competitions竞争;B. lifestyles生活方式;C. states状态;D. relationships关系。由下文“because they've been together for so long”可知,这里指的是人际“关系”,符合沉没成本谬论在情感领域的体现。 A. inspect检查;B. invest投资,投入;C. possess拥有;D. pursue追求。 “invest more”与上文的“sunk time, effort, or money into something”形成对应。 A. permission允许;B. curiosity好奇;C. determination决心;D. expectation期望。文章开头“I came across an image of a distance runner with a caption (说明文字) that told readers to keep going at all costs.” A. breaking out爆发;B. walking away离开,放弃;C. giving in屈服;D. passing down传递。 A. realize意识到;B. doubt怀疑;C. prove证明;D. regret后悔。根据下文“a path you’re on is no longer the right one or never was.” 故选A。 A. amusing有趣的;B. innovative创新的;C. delicate精致的;D. painful痛苦的。 The Industrial Revolution started in England in the 18th century. 故填were reformed。 故填where。 故填an。 故填to power。 故填The。 故填as。 Dear Chris, I’m excited to share with you the “Time Capsule” activity our class recently organized. ________ __________________________________________________________________________________ Best wishes, Li Hua 【答案】 Dear Chris, I’m excited to share our class “time capsule” activity. It’s like sending a message to my future self, reminding me to stay true to my dreams. Do you have similar activities in your school? Looking forward to your reply. 词汇积累 激动人心的:exciting→thrilling 象征:symbolize→represent 反思:reflect on→think about 忠于:stay true to→remain faithful to 2. I put in my favorite pen, which has accompanied me through countless exams and writing tasks. I put in my favorite pen, a tool that has accompanied me through countless exams and writing tasks. 3. 1】 I put in my favorite pen, which has accompanied me through countless exams and writing tasks.(运用了which引导的非限制性定语从句) 【高分句型2】 It’s like sending a message to my future self, reminding me to stay true to my dreams.(运用了现在分词reminding作状语) 第二节(满分25分) 67. Holidays are not necessarily for fun or rest. Doing something meaningful can also gain special pleasure. ______________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Paragraph 1: At first, Kayla felt disappointed at her parents' plan for the holiday. How eagerly she wanted to go to out to play with her friends! 词汇激活 行为类 ① 反对:be against/be opposed to ② 开始:begin/start ③ 完成:finish/complete 情绪类 ① 快乐:pleasure/joy ② 困难:hard/tough 【点睛】 [高分句型1] She knew it was a hard task, which needed a lot of tiring, careful and patient work. (运用了which引导非限制性定语从句) [高分句型2] When she finished her meaningful chores, Kayla enjoyed relaxing in her tree house.
