动词-ing形式
1. 作定语
单个动词-ing形式作定语,常放在被修饰词前作前置定语;动词-ing形式短语作定语,常放在被修饰词后作后置定语。
2. 作状语
修饰动词,表示时间、原因、结果、条件、让步、行为方式或伴随情况等。
非谓语动词作状语时,如所提供的动词不能和句子中的主语保持一致,动词-ing形式必须有自己的逻辑主语,通常由名词或代词来担任, 这就是独立主格结构。

3. 作补语
感官动词(短语)see,watch,observe,look at,notice,find,discover,catch(当场发现),hear,listen to,feel,sense(意识到)等后的复合宾语中,若作补语的动词与其前的宾语之间为主动关系,则用动词ing形式作补语;若为被动关系,则用动词ed形式作补语。
变成被动语态后宾补就成了主补,形式不发生变化。
在“with+宾语+补语”的复合结构中,可用动词ing形式和动词ed形式作补语,其规则同感官动词和使役动词。

1. 作定语
及物动词的-ed形式作定语往往表示被动和完成;不及物动词的过去分词作定语不表示被动,只表示完成。
单个的动词-ed形式作定语时,通常放在所修饰词的前面;动词-ed形式短语作定语时,通常放在后面,其作用相当于一个定语从句。
2. 作状语
表示时间、让步、条件、原因、方式和结果,相当于一个状语从句。其逻辑主语为主句主语,且与主句主语构成被动关系。

3. 作补语
使役动词 have,get,keep,leave等后的复合宾语中,可用动词ing形式和动词ed形式作补语,其规则同感官动词。
使役动词make,let后不跟动词ing形式作补语,若作补语的动词与其前的宾语之间为主动关系时,用不带to的不定式。。
在“with+宾语+补语”的复合结构中,可用动词ing形式和动词ed形式作补语,其规则同感官动词和使役动词。

1. 作定语
不定式作定语通常要放在被修饰词的后面,往往表示将要发生的动作。
中心词是序数词、形容词最高级、the last/the only/the next 或被这些词修饰时,用不定式作定语。
抽象名词 time, way, reason, chance, courage, opportunity, ability 等后以及不定代词 something, nothing, little 等后常用不定式作定语。 there be+主语+to do和 have sth. to do 结构中,不定式也作后置定语。

作目的状语
可位于句首或句末,其前可加 in order/so as,但 so as to 不可位于句首。

ask, tell, invite, get, advise, allow, want, permit, warn, order,
