The survey, completed in January 2026, set out to identify the dominant learning styles of today’s undergraduates, measure student demand for different types of multimodal (多模态) course materials, and explore the link between multimodal learning and academic performance and engagement. Learning Style Preference This shift in learning styles has directly translated into a growing demand for course materials, as students seek out content that not only conveys information but also engages them in ways that match how they best process and internalize knowledge. The following data quantifies student demand for different types of multimodal course materials accordingly. Demand for Multimodal Course Materials The survey also uncovered a clear link between the use of multimodal learning materials and key educational outcomes, including academic performance and classroom engagement. “This survey confirms that undergraduate learning has entered a new multimodal era — students no longer want to be passive consumers of text-based content. Educators and institutions that adapt to this shift by providing diverse, visual and interactive materials will see significant improvements in student success and engagement, and will better prepare students for the diverse, digital world they will enter upon graduation,” said Overdrive CEO Steve Potash. 1. What percentage do visual and kinesthetic learners account for in 2025? A. 40%. B. 49%. C. 51%. D. 73%. 2. Which multimodal course materials do undergraduate students like most? A. Audio podcasts. B. Video lectures. C. Interactive infographics. D. Traditional print textbooks. 3. What does Steve think of the shift of learning style preference? A. It is worthy to be accepted. B. It relies on text-based materials. C. It is a short-lived tendency. D. It lowers classroom engagement. B When I first came across Hirono, he didn’t really stand out to me. He was among several figurines (小雕像) tucked away in a corner of Pop Mart’s studio. They seemed subtle, almost unassuming, and I didn’t give them much thought at the time. Little did I know, that was the beginning of a connection I was about to discover. It wasn’t until I joined Pop Mart as a livestream host last July — as part of my job to learn about every IP in the company — that my true journey with Hirono began. I still remember the very first set of figures I sold during my first livestream session: Hirono’s “Shelter” series. This once-distant, unnoticed figure suddenly became the centerpiece of my work. As I introduced Hirono to others, I began to appreciate the quiet charm hidden in his world. His expression is always sullen — drooping eyes, slouched posture, an almost “untouchable” aura. Not the cutest or most eye-catching look, I would say, but I came to realize that it’s all a protective shell. In him, I saw a reflection of myself: the loneliness and confusion that surface under life’s pressure, and the indifferent masks we sometimes put on to cope with reality. Though I am usually an extrovert, cheerful and bubbly on the outside, the truth is that every story carries untold chapters. Through Hirono, I allow myself to feel the vast wilderness deep within my heart, and often I see my own emotions projected onto his figure. One of my favorite series is definitely “Echo”. As a foreign student in China, homesickness quietly lingers in the background of my life. This series reminds me that these echoes of the past are not just fleeting shadows, but silent companions that resurface when I need them most, giving me strength and allowing me to break free from the weight of reality, even just for a moment. To me, Hirono is a friend who teaches me to embrace both the loneliness and the light within. 4. What does the underlined word “unassuming” in paragraph 1 mean? A. Not trying to attract attention. B. Difficult to understand. C. Poorly made or designed. D. Strangely shaped. 5. What caused the author to start getting to know Hirono? A. Seeing Hirono in a corner of the studio. B. Working as a livestream host at Pop Mart. C. Selling Hirono’s “Shelter” series online. D. Being attracted by Hirono’s expression. 6. Why did the author’s view of Hirono change? A. Presenting the figure to others. B. Understanding its protective shell. C. Connecting with the “Echo” series. D. Seeing himself in the figure. 7. What does the author’s experience show? A. Accept your lonely moments. B. Face your inner self. C. Embrace who you truly are. D. Know yourself first. C Is there a connection between fashion shows and the clothes you can buy in shops? Surely, no one buys the wacky (古怪的) designs you can see on the catwalk ... or do they? There are four major fashion capitals of the world: Paris, Milan, New York and London. And every year, there are two Fashion Weeks in each city: between January and April and between September and November. A city’s fashion week gives established designers and newcomers an opportunity to show their latest collections — all of which is great for business. In fact, it’s estimated that London Fashion Week alone generates between £40 and £100 million of orders. And this doesn’t take into account high street sales. But fashion shows are most famous for the outrageous (怪里怪气的) outfits. In some recent shows, there have been clothes with disco balls, wings and recycled rubbish attached to them, skirts made of straw, multi-coloured crash helmets, jumpers with stuffed cats hanging off them and yellow and black underwear with pictures of Bart Simpson. So, what does all this have to do with ordinary fashion? Quite a lot, apparently, especially due to the influence of the fashion media. Magazines such as Vogue report on London Fashion Week, and pick out the designs that the fashion editors like. Quite often, these are the designs that will appear in the high street stores, although they won’t be exactly the same. Now, you may ask yourself, how can high street shops copy high fashion designs? Well, interestingly, fashion designs are not regarded as intellectual property in the way that songs or films are. This allows large companies to “copy” the most popular designs and produce them cheaply for the average shopper. This means that although you may never be able to buy an original designer outfit, you can still follow fashion and look up-to-date without going bankrupt! This is why the shows are influential as they provide the originality that keeps the fashion industry moving. 8. Why are the four fashion capitals and Fashion Weeks mentioned? A. To show where strange designs appear. B. To explain why fashion shows are global. C. To introduce fashion industry background. D. To highlight the diversity of fashion styles. 9. What role do fashion weeks play? A. Helping designers showcase their work. B. Attracting tourists to the host cities. C. Deciding what sells in high street stores. D. Encouraging designers to create crazy outfits. 10. How do fashion shows influence ordinary people’s clothing? A. Original designs appear in shops. B. Media choices are copied and sold affordably. C. Magazines sell them to public. D. Original outfits are widely available. 11. What is the author’s attitude towards fashion shows? A. Indifferent. B. Doubtful. C. Critical. D. Supportive. D Educators and business leaders have more in common than it may seem. Teachers want to prepare students for a successful future. Technology companies have an interest in developing a workforce with the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skills needed to grow the company and advance the industry. How can they work together to achieve these goals? Play may be the answer. Focusing on STEM skills is important, but the reality is that STEM skills are enhanced and more relevant when combined with traditional, hands-on creative activities. This combination is proving to be the best way to prepare today’s children to be the makers and builders of tomorrow. That is why technology companies are partnering with educators to bring back good, old-fashioned play. In fact, many experts argue that the most important 21st-century skills aren’t related to specific technologies or subject matter, but to creative skills like imagination, problem-finding and problem-solving, teamwork, optimism, patience and the ability to experiment and take risks. These are skills acquired when kids tinker (小修理). High-tech industries such as NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory have found that their best overall problem solvers were master tinkerers in their youth. There are cognitive benefits of doing things the way we did as children — building something, tearing it down, then building it up again. Research shows that given 15 minutes of free play, four- and five-year-olds will spend a third of this time engaged in spatial, mathematical, and architectural activities. This type of play, especially with building blocks, helps children discover and develop key principles in math and geometry. If play and building are critical to 21st-century skill development, that’s really good news for two reasons: Children are born builders, makers, and creators, so fostering 21st-century skills may be as simple as giving kids room to play, tinker, and try things out, even as they grow older. Secondly, it doesn’t take 21st-century technology to foster 21st-century skills. This is especially important for under-resourced schools and communities. Taking whatever materials are handy and tinkering with them is a simple way to engage those important “maker” skills. And anyone, anywhere, can do it. 12. Why do technology companies support traditional play in education? A. To follow NASA’s example in training. B. To prepare future tech workforce. C. To better develop STEM skills. D. To combine STEM with hands-on activities. 13. What are the benefits of children tinkering with things? A. Using modern technology. B. Mastering math and geometry. C. Gaining all-round STEM expertise. D. Developing creativity and related skills. 14. What does the last paragraph suggest to educators? A. Children’s age plays a role in skill formation. B. Resources are important for children’s development. C. Children should be given space to experiment freely. D. Children’s natural talents make skill development easy. 15. Which is the most suitable title for the text? A. Play: A Key to Developing Future Skills B. Tech Companies: Investing in Future Talent C. Tinkering: A Path to Becoming Problem Solvers D. I would always look down at my desk, hoping the teacher would call on someone else. And unless otherwise assigned a seat by the teacher, I always chose to sit at the back of the classroom. All this changed after I joined a sports team. It began when a teacher suggested I try out for the basketball team. To be honest, I almost laughed at the idea — me, on a basketball team? At first I thought it was a crazy idea because I didn’t have a good sense of balance, nor did I have the ability to keep pace with the others on the team — I was sure they would tease me. If it hadn’t been for the teacher who kept insisting on “going for it,” I wouldn’t have decided to give it a try. Getting up the courage to go to the tryouts was only half the battle! When I first started attending the practice sessions, I didn’t even know the rules of the game, much less what I was doing. Sometimes I’d get so confused that I’d freeze with the ball in my hands, not knowing whether to pass or shoot — which made me feel really stupid. Fortunately, I wasn’t the only one “new” at the game. Among the newcomers was Leo, a tall, quiet guy who looked as lost as I was. We started watching each other’s moves and smiling weakly when we messed up. That shared struggle made me feel less alone. So I decided to focus on learning the game, do my best at each practice session, and not be too hard on myself for the things I didn’t know just yet. I practiced and practiced. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With my improved self-confidence came more praise from teachers and classmates. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 泰安一中2025—2026学年下学期4月学情检测 高二英语试题 (试卷满分150分,考试时间120分钟) 注意事项: 1. 1. A 5. B 6. D 7. 根据第一段中的“He was among several figurines (小雕像) tucked away in a corner of Pop Mart’s studio. They seemed subtle, almost unassuming, and I didn’t give them much thought at the time. (他和几个小雕像一起被放在泡泡玛特工作室的角落里。它们看起来很不起眼,几乎unassuming,我当时并没有太在意。)”可知,这些雕像被放在角落、造型低调,不会刻意吸引人注意,作者也没有多加关注,因此画线词“unassuming”的意思是“不试图吸引注意力”。故选A项。 根据第三段中的“It wasn’t until I joined Pop Mart as a livestream host last July — as part of my job to learn about every IP in the company — that my true journey with Hirono began. (直到去年7月我加入泡泡玛特成为主播,作为工作的一部分要了解公司的每个IP,我和Hirono的真正故事才开始。)”可知,作者成为泡泡玛特主播后,因工作需要才开始了解Hirono。故选B项。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据第五段中的“In him, I saw a reflection of myself: the loneliness and confusion that surface under life’s pressure, and the indifferent masks we sometimes put on to cope with reality.(在他身上,我看到了自己的影子:生活压力下浮现的孤独与迷茫,以及我们为应对现实而戴上的冷漠面具。)” 通读全文,尤其是最后一段中的“To me, Hirono is a friend who teaches me to embrace both the loneliness and the light within.(对我来说,Hirono是一个朋友,教会我接纳内心的孤独与光亮。)” C Is there a connection between fashion shows and the clothes you can buy in shops? B. Doubtful. C. Critical. D. Supportive. C 9. A 10. B 11. 根据第二段“There are four major fashion capitals of the world: Paris, Milan, New York and London. And every year, there are two Fashion Weeks in each city: between January and April and between September and November.(世界上有四个主要的时尚之都:巴黎、米兰、纽约和伦敦。每年,每个城市都会举办两次时装周:分别在每年的1月至4月以及9月至11月期间)”可知,提及这四个时尚之都以及时装周旨在介绍时尚产业的相关背景。故选C。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“A city’s fashion week gives established designers and newcomers an opportunity to show their latest collections — all of which is great for business.(一座城市的时装周为知名设计师和新晋设计师提供了一个展示其最新作品的机会——这对于商业发展而言自然是大有裨益的)”可知,时装周帮助设计师展示他们的作品。故选A。 根据倒数第二段“Well, interestingly, fashion designs are not regarded as intellectual property in the way that songs or films are. This allows large companies to “copy” the most popular designs and produce them cheaply for the average shopper.(有趣的是,时装设计不像歌曲或电影那样被视为知识产权。这使得大型公司能够“复制”最流行的设计,并以低廉的价格为普通消费者生产这些产品)”可知,媒体所推荐的选择会被人们模仿并以实惠的价格购买。故选B。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“This means that although you may never be able to buy an original designer outfit, you can still follow fashion and look up-to-date without going bankrupt! This is why the shows are influential as they provide the originality that keeps the fashion industry moving.(这意味着,尽管你可能永远无法买到原版设计师设计的服装,但你仍可以紧跟时尚潮流,保持时尚感,而且无需倾家荡产!这就是这些时装秀具有影响力的原因,因为它们提供了推动时尚行业发展的独特元素)”可知,作者对时装秀是支持的态度。故选D。 D Educators and business leaders have more in common than it may seem. STEM Education: The Key to Children’s Future Success 【答案】12. B 13. D 14. C 15. 故填were found。 cover an area of... 故填an。 介词including后面的charioteers, cavalry, kneeling archers以及standing archers用于列举,它们之间是并列关系,要在standing archers之前加上and。故填and。 故填who。 provide insights into... 故填into。 (World Book and Copyright Day)前夕,你所在的国际高中举行师生读书交流会,为此,请你写一篇英文发言稿,内容包括: 1. Dear teachers and fellow students, ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Thank you. Dear teachers and fellow students, On this World Book and Copyright Day, it’s my honor to share why I love popular history books. History once seemed heavy and distant, but these books have changed that. They bring the past to life through vivid storytelling and relatable narratives. Unlike heavy academic works, they present historical truths in a way that’s both accessible and engaging, often with touches of humor and human warmth. What I love most is how they connect us to the long story of human experience, helping us understand how yesterday shaped today and can guide tomorrow. They open history’s grand palace to everyone. Let’s enjoy exploring history through these wonderful books! Thank you. 词汇积累 喜欢:love → be fond of 帮助:help → assist 指导:guide → instruct 探索:explore → probe 2. They open history’s grand palace to everyone. They open history’s grand palace to everyone, which broadens our horizon. 【点睛】[高分句型1] On this World Book and Copyright Day, it’s my honor to share why I love popular history books.(运用了why引导宾语从句) [高分句型2] What I love most is how they connect us to the long story of human experience, helping us understand how yesterday shaped today and can guide tomorrow.(运用了what引导主语从句,第一个how引导表语从句,现在分词短语作状语,第二个how引导宾语从句) 第二节(满分25分) 47. I used to hate being called upon in class mainly because I didn’t like having attention drawn to me. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】I practiced and practiced. After training, Leo and I often stayed to pass the ball. At first, we dropped it many times. But we kept trying and even laughed about our mistakes. Slowly, my skills improved. One day, during practice, I caught Leo’s pass and threw the ball. It went straight into the basket! Everyone stopped and looked. For a moment, I couldn’t believe it. Then my teammates cheered. That simple success made me feel stronger inside. With my improved self-confidence came more praise from teachers and classmates. Now, I find myself raising my hand in class. Last week, when our English teacher asked a question, I shared my idea even though I wasn’t fully certain. To my surprise, she smiled and said, “Good point!” After class, a classmate told me, “You explained that really well.” I realize now that trying is what matters most. I still have more to learn on the court and in class, but I’m no longer afraid of being seen trying. 3.词汇激活 行为类 ①提高:improve /enhance ②停止:stop/pause ③微笑:smile /beam 情绪类 ①惊讶:surprise/astonishment ②害怕的:afraid/frightened 【点睛】[高分句型1] Last week, when our English teacher asked a question, I shared my idea even though I wasn’t fully certain. (运用了when引导时间状语从句) [高分句型2] I realize now that trying is what matters most.
