In a studio in Paris,42-year-old Chen Yao carefully threads a needle with bright red silk. Around her, French students lean forward, eyes wide as she demonstrates the ancient Chinese art of Shu embroidery (蜀绣) — a 2,000-year-old craft known for its perfect stitches (针法) and bright colors. “Each thread tells a story,” Chen explains, her hands moving swiftly. “In Sichuan, where I grew up, my grandmother taught me that embroidery isn’t just about beauty. It’s about preserving history.”
Chen’s journey to Paris began in 2010, when she won a scholarship to study art history. “I missed the feel of silk under my fingers,” she admits. Instead of abandoning her roots, she started hosting free workshops at local community centers. “Many French people think Chinese art is just dragon paintings or porcelain,” she says. “I wanted to show them the depth of our cultural heritage.”
The challenges were real. French students struggled with the double-sided embroidery technique, which requires identical patterns on both sides of the fabric. “At first, their works were not very good,” Chen recalls. “But I told them in Shu embroidery, patience is more valuable than speed.”
Her efforts paid off. In 2018, Chen partnered with the Louvre Museum to create a silk tapestry (织锦) inspired by its Egyptian collection. “We combined Chinese stitching with French design,” she explains. “It proved that tradition and innovation can coexist.”
Today, Chen’s studio, Silk Bridges, trains over 200 students annually. Many have started their own cultural projects. “One student is teaching Shu embroidery in Morocco,” Chen smiles. “Another is cooperating with Italian designers.”
Her philosophy is simple. Culture is like silk — soft but strong. When we share it, we weave a global tapestry of understanding.
24. How did French students feel when seeing Shu embroidery?
A. Relaxed. B. Interested. C. Bored. D. Confused.
25. Why did Chen Yao start workshops in Paris?
A. Because she wants to earn a scholarship.
B. Because she has difficulty adapting to new life.
C. Because she has a strong attachment to homeland.
D. Because she enjoys the company of her French friends.
26. Which of the following can best describe Chen Yao?
A. Talented and brave. B. Creative and determined.
C. Confident and honest. D. Humorous and attractive.
27. What can we infer from the text?
A. Traditional art should keep its pure form.
B. Cultural sharing promotes global understanding.
C. Personal success comes from problem-solving skills.
D. Embroidery technique is more important than creativity.

Beijing Opera is the most typical of all Chinese traditional dramatic art forms and the largest Chinese opera form. Having a history of about 200 years, it is developed from absorbing many other dramatic forms, mostly from the local drama “Huiban”, which was popular in South China during the 18th century. It is a scenic (舞台的) art including music, performance, literature, aria (唱腔) and face painting.
Theatrical art forms in many other countries do not present singing, dancing and spoken parts in one single drama. An opera singer, for example, neither dances nor speaks on stage; there are no singing or dancing parts in a modern play; in a dance drama, the dancer has no speaking role and does not sing either. Traditional Chinese drama, including Beijing Opera, is a kind of entertainment which includes spoken parts, singing, dancing and acrobatics (杂技).
Besides its presence in China, Beijing Opera has spread to many other places. Mei Lanfang, one of the most famous performers of all time, was the first to introduce Beijing Opera to foreigners and made highly successful tours to foreign countries.
“You will be puzzled (困惑的) all the way through and a little bored from time to time; but you will be charmed and interested. You will be strongly attracted to Beijing Opera even if you know nothing of the dramatic background.” This is how one American traveller described his first experience in watching Beijing Opera.

The world has been changing very quickly since the introduction of generative (生成的) artificial intelligence (AI). Generative AI now helps write stories, create art and answer questions, and it can even copy people’s voices. It’s being used in schools, offices, music and movies. Even the Oscars (奥斯卡奖) are changing because of AI.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has updated its rules, saying films that use AI are now allowed to win awards. So even if a movie uses AI to help with writing, editing or voices, it can still win Hollywood’s biggest prize. The Academy explained that using AI will not help or hurt a film’s chances of getting nominated (被提名), although human creativity and input are still the things that matter most. “AI is just a tool,” said Academy president David Rubin. “What truly makes a film great is the human story behind it.”
The use of AI in film became a talking point after this year’s Oscars, when Adrien Brody won Best Actor for his work in The Brutalist. In the film, both Brody and his co-star Felicity Jones had to speak Hungarian, a very difficult language to pronounce. According to the film’s editor David Jancso, AI was used to perfect their speech. “They did a wonderful job, but we also wanted to perfect it so that even locals will not notice any difference.” Another Oscar-winning film, the musical Emilia Perez, used AI to improve the singing of the actors.
The use of AI is becoming more common in the film and music industries. But not everyone is happy about it. During the 2023 Hollywood strikes, many actors and writers spoke out about AI, saying they were worried it could take away their jobs. Some worried that studios might use it to write scripts instead of hiring real writers, and others feared their voices or faces could be copied by AI without their permission (许可). Industry experts suggest that while AI can assist in production, it cannot replace human creativity and emotional depth that audiences connect with.
32.What does the Academy say about AI in films?
A.AI films are unable to win Oscars.
B.All films will use AI in the near future.
C.AI doesn’t change a film’s chance to win.
D.AI is becoming more important than humans.
33.How does the author show the influence of AI on the film industry?
A.By giving examples of AI in films.
B.By presenting the history of AI.
C.By focusing on technical details.
D.By comparing AI with traditional tools.
34.Why were some Hollywood workers unhappy about AI?
A.It made their voices sound strange.
B.It completely changed Oscar rules.
C.It might make them lose their jobs.
D.It made movies win too many awards.
35.What is the best title for the text?
A.AI in the Oscars: Rules & Influence
B.AI in Film-Making: Future & Possibilities
C.AI in the Film Industry: Creativity & Success
D.AI in Hollywood: Advantages & Disadvantage

Eggs, bacon, bagels and croissants(羊角面包), her favourite meal of the day sat right in front of her telling her to have more, probably just this one day. Her hand reached out for the last croissant; “STOP” said her mind, “PLEASE” begged the nineteen-year-old heart. Annie could feel the tires around her waist, weighing her down, emotionally and physically. She pulled her hand back, eyeing the inviting croissant, which would have been hers if only she had not decided to follow her dream, a dream which seemed beyond her reach.
But there she was, she wanted it, and wanted it badly, a fantasy of a teenager to fit into the beautiful peacock green bikini(比基尼). A trip had been planned, to the sunny beaches, by a group of friends, and the trip included her. She used to sit depressed listening to her slim friends discuss about the kind of clothes they purchased, and how short each of their skirts were, and how beautiful they looked. She wanted to see their expression change from surprise to admiration, so she decided to go on diet and take fitness courses.
Weeks passed and her patience started to die away. The fat was stubborn and refused to melt fast, but the time went fast. No matter how less she ate, she still looked awfully plump (丰满的), which annoyed her and she was ready to call it quits. She sat on her bed and wept an entire evening ignoring her dinner. Her tears dried up, and she lay down on her bed staring at the ceiling, letting random thoughts pass through her mind, then she heard two women talking outside her window. She heard one woman saying: “My child is special, and every child is god’s gift. It doesn’t matter what’s on the outside, inner self is what matters.”

Beijing Opera is the most typical of all Chinese traditional dramatic art forms and the largest Chinese
opera form.Having a history of about 200 years,it is developed from absorbing many other dramatic forms,
mostly from the local drama"Huiban, which was popular in South China during the 18th century. It is a

The world has been changing very quickly since the introduction of generative artificial
intelligence (AD).Generative AI now helps write stories, create art and answer questions, and it can even
copy people's voices.It's being used in schools,offices,music and movies.Even the Oscars (
are changing because of AI.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has updated its rules, saying films that use al are
now allowed to win awards. So even if a movie uses AI to help with writing, editing or voices,it can still
win Hollywood's biggest prize. The Academy explained that using AI will not help or hurt a film's chances
of getting nominated ()although human creativity and input are still the things that matter most.
"AI is just a tool,"said Academy president David Rubin."What truly makes a film great is the human story
behind it."
The use of AI in film became a talking point after this year's Oscars, when Adrien Brody won Best
Actor for his work in The Brutalist. In the film, both Brody and his co-star Felicity Jones had to speak
Hungarian,a very difficult language to pronounce.According to the film's editor David Jancso,AI was
used to perfect their speech."They did a wonderful job,but we also wanted to perfect it so that even locals
will not notice any difference."Another Oscar-winning film, the musical Emilia Perez, used AI to improve
the singing of the actors.
The use of AI is becoming more common in the film and music industries. But not everyone is happy
about it.During the 2023 Hollywood strikes, many actors and writers spoke out about AI,saying they were
worried it could take away their jobs. Some worried that studios might use it to write scripts instead of
hiring real writers, and others feared their voices or faces could be copied by AI without their permission
()Industry experts suggest that while AI can assist in production,it cannot replace human creativity
and emotional depth that audiences connect with.
32.What does the Academy say about AI in films?
A.AI films are unable to win Oscars.

根据第三段“The use of AI in film became a talking point after this year’s Oscars, when Adrien Brody won Best Actor for his work in The Brutalist. 34.细节理解题。根据第四段中的“During the 2023 Hollywood strikes, many actors and writers spoke out about AI, saying they were worried it could take away their jobs. Some worried that studios might use it to write scripts instead of hiring real writers, and others feared their voices or faces could be copied by AI without their permission (许可). (在2023年好莱坞罢工运动中,众多演员和编剧公开反对人工智能,担心其会抢走自己的工作。有人担忧影视公司会用人工智能撰写剧本,而非聘请专业编剧;还有人害怕自己的声音或容貌会在未经许可的情况下被人工智能复制。)”可知,一些好莱坞从业者担心AI会导致他们失业。故选C。

小作文范文
How to promote our traditional festivals
Traditional Chinese festivals are an important part of Chinese culture, and we must protect and maintain them.
There are many ways to promote traditional Chinese festivals. Firstly, we should call on our government to make laws and list more traditional festivals as national festivals, which can greatly promote the development of traditional festivals. In addition, it is important for media to spread more knowledge about the traditions. Only in this way can the younger generation have a better understanding of traditional festivals and customs.
In a word, it is the duty of every one of us to protect them for generations to come. I hope everybody will be actively involved in the action.
读后续写范文
Filled with curiosity, Annie got up and looked out the window. She saw her neighbor Mrs. Thompson standing in the garden below with a visibly disabled little girl and a stranger. The child seemed utterly happy, her laughter ringing through the air. "She may not look like other children," Mrs. Thompson said warmly, "but she has a heart of gold." Her words echoed in Annie's ears, bringing with them a wave of shame - she'd been so focused on changing her body that she'd forgotten to appreciate what she already had.
Annie turned her eyes away from the scene and saw her own figure in the mirror. For the first time in months, Annie looked at herself without criticism. It suddenly struck her that she didn’t need to fit into that peacock-green bikini to be beautiful. True beauty wasn’t about losing weight, but about embracing who she truly was. From that day on, Annie exercised a few times a week—not for attention, but simply to stay healthy. As Coco Chanel once said, "Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself."
