On Sunday,a group of thieves used a truck with a ladder on it to get into the Louvre Museum in
Paris. They then broke into display cases and stole several important items from the French crown jewels.
So far,no one has been arrested.
The Louvre is the world's largest and most popular museum. The museum is located in a huge palace
in Paris that was once home to the kings of France.Today,it holds over 33,000 pieces of art, including
the famous Mona Lisa.In the summer, the museum can have more than 30,000 visitors a day.
But on Sunday, the museum had the wrong kind of visitors.Around 9:30 in the morning, soon after
the museum opened, thieves drove up to the building in a truck with a ladder on it.Two of the thieves
used the ladder to climb to a second-floor balcony. There, they used an electric tool to break a window,
and climbed into the museum. The break-in set off alarms, but it also allowed the thieves into a huge,
fancy room called the Gallery of Apollo. That's where the Louvre holds a collection of French crown jewels
-jewels that once belonged to the French royal family.
The museum had five people working in the area where the theft happened. The two thieves
threatened the guards, who focused on making sure other museum visitors were safe. Then the thieves
broke the glass of two display cases and grabbed several of the crown jewels. In about seven minutes, the
thieves climbed back out of the museum and all of the thieves got away.
The police are still looking for the thieves, but so far,no one has been arrested. The police believe
that the thieves were very skilled and had done similar crimes before.Experts say that the police will have
to work quickly, since the thieves are likely to break up the jewels into smaller pieces to make them
easier to move and sell.
24.How did the thieves enter the Louvre Museum?

B.They used a ladder to climb into the second floor.
C.They broke in the first floor with violence.
D.They followed other visitors into the Gallery.

B.They were outnumbered by the group of thieves.
C.They prioritized the safety of other museum visitors.
D.They were unfamiliar with the layout of the Gallery of Apollo.

Sora,a new video app from OpenAl,offers a dreamlike experience. You might see a woman in a
judo-jacket bow to an elephant before flipping it over her shoulder,or a young skater racing across
Saturn's rings. This service would be strange for an AI company if it were not for the fact that the videos
on Sora are all AI-made.Users cannot upload their own content.Instead, the Sora feed provides a constant
stream of AI-made pabulum(精神食粮).
Although the app is invitation-only,it has become very popular, quickly reaching the top of app-store
charts in the U.S.and Canada."Invite"keys have become so valuable that they are being sold online.
However, success comes at a cost. While Sora is free for invited users, running it is expensive for
OpenAl-each AI video costs money to produce.Traditional social media platforms earn money from
user-created content and advertisements. In contrast,Sora's business model appears much less promising
if the company loses money on every post.
But the true value of Sora may lie beyond pleasure.A recent research paper suggests that such video
models can solve various visual problems without specific training. If a user requests an amusing video,
the system will make one.If the user presents a visual task, the model can solve that, too.
For example,if you give it a picture of a parrot on a tree and ask for a video where all colors and
details dissolve, leaving only the edges visible,it will successfully complete this task.It can also handle
tasks that are quite disparate from image editing.Provide it with an unfinished Sudoku ()problem
and ask for a video showing the solution, and the model can finish the problem.
This wide range of abilities establishes them as "zero-shot reasoners"-they can solve tasks they
have never encountered before.Newer systems perform better at this than earlier models.Researchers
believe that video models will develop into general-purpose tools for vision, making it possible to solve
any visual challenge without special training. The content Sora creates today for pleasure may only be the
first step in this interesting journey.
28.What is a key feature of the Sora app?
A.Its videos are entirely made by AI.
B.It is the most popular app developed by Google.
C.It requires no Internet connection to watch videos.
D.It allows users to create and share their own videos.
2026届高三年级英语四月检测训练-5-(共10页)
29.What can be inferred about Sora's business model?
A.It will play a leading role in the field.
B.It faces cost-related challenges due to high costs.
C.It earns more money than traditional social media.
D.It mainly relies on advertisement income for its earnings.
30.What does the underlined word "disparate"in paragraph 5 probably mean?
A.Similar.
B.Creative.
C.Difficult.
D.Distinct.
31.What is the author's attitude towards the future of video models like Sora?
A.Expectant.
B.Unclear.
C.Indifferent.
D.Cautious.

Most of us were raised to think that smart people always know the right answers. From gold stars in
school to performance reviews in the office,we're rewarded for certainty.
Yet as Bidhan Parmar,a professor at the UVA Darden School of Business, argues in his new book,
Radical Doubt,"Certainty somehow blinds us.The only thing that spoon-feeding teaches us is the shape
of a spoon."His point is unsettling:The very habits we rely on to feel smart-rushing towards the final
goals, simplifying complex problems,sugar-coating our initial reactions-are the ones that keep us from
蒸
making wise choices.
感
g
The hardest problems we face in life, whether in careers, relationships,or society, rarely come with
云
single right answers. They're what Parmar calls "moments of unease":multi-criteria choices that involve
competing goals,high risks,and deep uncertainty.The old playbook of being a"right-answer getter"not
only fails here, but backfires. As Parmar explains,"We often treat complex problems like simple ones
够
until we are faced with the reality.
0
Our personal and professional environments are more uncertain than ever.Technology evolves faster
than regulation, workplaces are more diverse, and social standards are shifting.I've watched firsthand that
学
seasoned leaders ignored warning signs because they were addicted to"feeling right."They simplified the
situation when they should have paused or explored, and missed the opportunity that doubt was pointing
them towards.
Our brains run on interconnected systems:the Pursue system (seek rewards),the Protect system
(avoid threats),and the Pause-and-Piece-Together system (engage doubt and reframe).Prior evidence-based
studies report that most of us let the first two dominate, charging ahead or withdrawing in fear.Grounded
in behavioral science, the wiser move is to take enough time to notice complexity, question assumptions,
and treat our intuition (not as the only decision but as an alternative. In practice, this means
0
holding competing goals side by side, and learning to say not "I know,"but "I'm learning."
32.What is implied by mentioning the spoon-feeding?
A.Certainty might ruin decision-making.
B.Average people can learn few facts.
$
C.Smart habits secure positive outcomes.
D.Simple tools secretly boost creativity.

33.Which might be a“moment of unease”?
A.Profiting from stable investments with spare funds.
B.Trying to find a job overseas when a parent falls ill.
C.Treating difficult problems with one's first intuition.
D.Continuing to develop in one's familiar research field.
34.What can make leaders fail according to the author?
A.Shifting standards.
B.Lacking experience.
C.Ignoring principles.
D.Overlooking doubts.
35.What is mainly talked about in the last paragraph?
A.Intuition types and brain functions.
B.Initial doubts and competing goals.

Slowly, the children began to change. Each morning,an increasing number of kids would actively
line up by the mirror. As they said uplifting things to their reflections, their once-hesitant voices gradually
grew firm.Mia took on the role of a little "cheerleader",using a gentle push or a bright smile to
encourage her classmates.Even the shy ones started to glance frequently at the mirror, peek at the sticky
notes and whisper encouraging and kind words to themselves. The classroom atmosphere, which had been
heavy with unease, now buzzed with growing confidence.Kids raised their hands more readily in class,
eager to share their thoughts, and group activities were filled with more laughter and participation.Bob,
though still quiet, would occasionally look up during discussions, his eyes no longer fixed on his shoes as
before.
For Bob,Miss Phillips'efforts eventually paid off,too.On a sunny morning,when the class gathered
by the mirror,Bob stepped forward independently. The room fell into sudden silence.Standing before the
mirror,he took a deep breath and,in a clear and unwavering voice,said,"I'm brave."After the shock
wore off, cheers and applause erupted.Tears welled up in Miss Phillips'eyes as she hugged Bob tightly.
From that day on,Bob completely changed. He joined group games, answered questions aloud, and even
helped a struggling classmate. The "Magic Mirror"was no longer just a tool;it became a symbol of the
courage and self-love blossoming in every child. As Miss Phillips watched her students thrive, she knew
that sowing the seeds of confidence would help them grow into fearless and kind-hearted souls
