It could feel small: the same faces in the same places, and where a new café or gallery was often met with doubt. There was this apparent insistence that life was fine as it was. But for a teenager itching to see more, that lack of curiosity was disheartening. So I left. I headed north for a four-year academic journey from York to Durham. After university, having played at newspapers, I made the move to London to do it for real. But the reality was tough. I struggled to contribute to various dailies before periods on staff at both magazines and newspapers. In my twenties, I threw myself into city life: sampling Mediterranean restaurants, navigating around on the Tube, and staying out late with friends. For a while, it was enough. Then it became too much. In and among the sharing plates, I found myself on an unending rat race of moving faster and needing to earn more — just to keep up. Rents in London were pressing, apartments were tiny, yet the dream of owning one felt like a cruel joke. As I got older, trips back to Thanet opened my eyes to what I had left behind. Mainly, it was the sea. Wide yellow sands and even the touch of salt in the air, ordinary in childhood, suddenly felt appealing. But I also started to miss the beat of small-town life: waving to people on the street, noticing whose garden was overgrown, finding charm even in the pubs I had once dismissed. What’s more, where I’d once hurried to leave, others are now rushing to arrive. Artists, creatives, and technologists have been priced out of London and are pouring to Thanet, bringing new ideas and drive. Now, when I head back home, I feel a mixture of pride and mild wonder: the place I once thought I’d outgrown has had a facelift I wasn’t expecting. I’ll keep returning to Thanet, with eager willingness. Each visit reminds me that places, like people, can grow without losing their essence. I’ve come to love Thanet as more than just the home I left; it is now the place it continues to become. 24. Why did the author want to leave Ramsgate? A. It offered few job opportunities. B. It lacked modern entertainment. C. It stuck to values he disagreed with. D. It failed to satisfy his desire to explore. 25. Which of the following best summarizes the author’s life in London? A. Rich in possibilities. B. Socially diverse. C. Filled with challenges. D. Financially stressful. 26. What can we learn about the author’s bond with Thanet over time? A. It remains stable and strong. B. It is influenced by public opinions. C. It shifts from rejection to reconnection. D. It is shaped by his childhood experience. 27. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. The Sea in Memory B. Four Years Up North C. The Hometown Out of Reach D. A Growing Place, a Growing Me C For years, David James, who studies insects at Washington State University, had wanted to examine the migration (迁徙) patterns of West Coast monarch butterflies. The route the butterflies travel has been hardly known because the populations are too small to follow. For every 200 monarch butterflies tagged (打标签) by a researcher, only one is usually recovered at the end of its trip, James says, and finding even 200 in the wild to tag is unlikely. Knowing the route is vital to conservation efforts, but James had no way to figure it out — until he got a phone call from Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla. The prison was looking for new activities to improve the mental health of those serving longterm sentences. So James began working with prisoners to raise monarch butterflies through the whole process of their transformation. The adult insects were then tagged and released from the prison. Over five years, nearly 10, 000 monarch butterflies flew from the facility. Elsewhere in Washington, Oregon and Idaho, researchers released another few thousand.   The tags included email addresses, and soon after the first butterflies took off, James started receiving messages from people who had spotted them. The butterflies, the reports confirmed, wintered in coastal California. Twelve of them landed at Lighthouse Field State Beach in Santa Cruz. Several more headed to Bolinas and Morro Bay. The work helps researchers identify ideal places to plant milkweed and other vegetation that are important to the life cycle of West Coast monarch butterflies. It also brought out the gentler side of some of the prisoners. “They were very worried that they were going to harm the butterflies,” James says. Watching the monarch butterfly change their form also touched the men. “This butterfly changed,” James recalls prisoners telling him, “and maybe we can too.” 28. What was hard for David to do in his study? A. Gain financial support. B. Hire qualified workers. C. Build a new laboratory. D. Find enough monarch butterflies. 29. Why were the butterflies tagged before being released? A. To guarantee their safety. B. To enable them to fly longer distances. C. To track their travel routes. D. To distinguish them from other species. 30. What makes the prisoners feel that they can change? A. The patience the butterflies showed. B. The hardship the butterflies underwent. C. The transformation of the butterflies. D. The devotion of James to the butterflies. 31. What is the last paragraph mainly about? A. The impact of the research. B. The findings of James’ study. C. The release of the prisoners. D. The life cycle of the butterflies. D Time is something we feel every day — rushing to school, glancing at watches, counting down minutes. Yet, surprisingly, modern physics struggles to explain why time moves forward at all. Einstein’s theory of relativity describes time as part of a fixed 4D spacetime, where past, present, and future coexist like pages in a book. Quantum mechanics (量子力学) does not naturally treats time as special — many processes could run backward just as well. So where does time’s flow come from? A groundbreaking perspective was proposed in 1983 by scientists Page and Wootters. They proposed that time is an illusion (幻觉) created by quantum entanglement (纠缠). They envisioned the universe as a timeless quantum state. When one part acts as a “clock” and becomes entangled with the rest, time seems to emerge — just like page numbers help us read a story in order. Experimental support is accumulating. In a 2024 study, scientists created a model using entangled quantum magnets and a spring. The entire system was static (静态的), yet the spring’s state changed over time relative to the clock, demonstrating how time might arise from entanglement. But what could serve as the universe’s real clock? Italian physicist Paola Verrucci points to black holes. They are isolated, highly energetic, and — thanks to Hawking radiation — can entangle with the outside world. “It’s a perfect clock,” she says. “You can’t touch it, but you can be linked to it.” More strikingly, Verrucci argues time’s direction may come from quantum measurement. Each time we observe reality, possibilities collapse into facts — a one-way process. “You create time,” she says, “when you ask what time it is.” This view transforms our role from passive witnesses of time to active participants. Time may not be a pre-existing river carrying us, but a story we co-write through our interactions with a quantum universe. 32. What can we know from paragraph 1? A. The theory of relativity views time as independent of space. B. Modern physics can explain why time moves forward easily. C. Quantum mechanics specially focuses on the study of time. D. Our understanding of time varies from physics perspectives. 33. Why did the scientists create the model? A. To explain the quantum entanglement. B. To support a timeless quantum state. C. To show how time comes from entanglement. D. To confirm time exists in a static universe. 34. Which viewpoint might Verrucci agree with? A. Hawking radiation generated time. B. There is no ideal clock in universe. C. Observing time helps to create time. D. Time existed as a river before humans. 35. What is the main purpose of the text? A. To present the history of quantum mechanics. B. To explore the origin of time from quantum links. C. To compare a couple of known spacetime theories. D. To illustrate technology of quantum entanglement. Patience Is a Virtue In the Paris Olympic Games, Dutch runner Sifan Hassan realized one of the most outstanding achievements in running history. On the biggest stage in sports, Hassan competed in three events — running two rounds of the 5,000-meter run, the 10,000-meter run, and the marathon — over nine days. 36 Early in each race, viewers may have counted Hassan out. While some runners took off quickly to claim front-running positions early, Hassan held back and conserved her energy. She waited to release her final charge right when she needed to — at the end of each race, timing things perfectly to secure a medal. Well, what led to her success? 37 As a matter of fact, patience is also a feature of a good life beyond sports. Here are some reminders about this often-underappreciated virtue. I used to run by a field in the winter months that had a sign that read, “ 38 ” I laughed at that sign, positioned on a barren (荒芜的) field. But as spring approached, the day arrived when I would run past the field, and, suddenly, it was no longer barren. It was full of wildflowers of various colors and shapes. The flowers had been there all along, in various stages, from seed to blossom (开花), making progress beneath the dirt. Patience is a lot like a wildflower field. 39 But waiting well often involves a lot of determination and unseen work. 40 Philosopher Matthew Pianalto calls patience a foundational virtue. He cites a well-known saying that patience is the root and guardian of all the virtues. Stated differently, it is difficult to be loving, courageous, or wise without patience. A. Wildflowers are in progress. B. Ultimately, she secured three medals. C. To outsiders, it can look like inaction. D. Sometimes, patience requires preparation. E. Patience supports many other virtues as well. F. Patience was, of course, one of the major factors. G. Patience is rarely celebrated in a culture that prizes speed. “It’s cancer.” I’ll never forget the day my mom said those words to me last year. I devoted myself to being truly 49 with my mother and try to re-engage with the world outside. Slowly, I began to feel like my old self again, but 50 and tougher. Now more than a year after my mom’s 51 diagnosis, it is with profound relief and happiness that I can share she is doing remarkably well and is almost cancer- 52 . The Artificial Intelligence Forecasting System (AIFS) is the first fully operational weather prediction open model 57 (use) machine learning technology, and will run side by side 58 its traditional physics-based counterpart (对应版本)— the Integrated Forecasting System (IFS), the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) said in a press release on Tuesday. AIFS’ forecast builds upon the same 59 (combine) of data that the IFS feeds on, with the data  60 (collect) from satellites, planes, boats, and other Earth-based measurement stations. What distinguishes the two models, however, 61 (be) that the new machine learning model assesses how these initial conditions will influence future weather based on its knowledge of how the weather 62 (evolve) in the past. IFS calculations, in contrast, rely on the laws of physics, which it integrates in its computer code. “We see the AIFS and IFS as complementary (互补的), 63 part of providing a range of products to our user community, who decide 64 best suits their needs,” said ECMWF’s Director of Forecasts and Services, Florian Pappenberger. Europe’s weather forecasts are 65 (current) reliable up to six to seven days ahead for precipitation (降水) and wind, and up to 14 or 15 days ahead for temperature, Pappenberger told the Financial Times. 注意:写作词数应为80个左右; ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第二节(满分25分) 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。 She pulled back on the ropes, making the homemade swing fly higher and closer to the leafy branches of the tall tree. The wind blew cool against her cheeks. She was five years old, and, at that moment, being mad at her eleven-year-old brother, David. “How could he have been so mean?” she asked herself, remembering how he had made a face and called her a “big baby” at the breakfast table. “He hates me,” she thought, “just because I took the last cake out from under his nose. He hates me!” The swing carried her up so high that she could see for miles. It was fun looking down at the farmyard below. Her red sweater flashed brightly in the morning sunlight. She stopped thinking about being mad at her brother and started to sing a swinging song. On a distant hill behind the swing, a huge bull with long, sharp horns (角) and big, heavy hooves (牛蹄) watched the red sweater flashing in the sunlight. The bull had broken out of his grassland. He was in a bad mood and ready to rush at anything that moved. Then he lowered his massive head and began moving across the field toward the red sweater he saw swinging back and forth beneath the tall tree. Meanwhile, David was in the barnyard (仓院), feeding the chickens. He looked out and saw his little sister on the swing. “Sisters are a pain in the neck,” he thought. Then suddenly he saw the bull rushing across the field, heading straight for his sister. Without a second thought, David screamed as loudly as he could, “Look out behind you! Get out of there! Run!” His sister didn’t hear him. __________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Then the bull rushed at the place where his sister had been. ________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试卷第1页,共3页 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 湖北省武汉中学2025-2026年学年度高二下学期4月月考 英 语 试时间:120分钟;命题人:高二备课组 注意事项: 1. 1. He’s out sick, and our regular substitute teacher just got hired in another district. We haven’t figured out how to replace him, yet. M: I’ll be happy to do it, Mrs. Garcia. Is he only teaching physics this term? W: No... Some teachers quit recently, so we had to change some schedules. Mr. Moore still teaches three physics classes, but he also has a first-period chemistry class and a fifth-period World History class. M: I see. Well, I should be able to handle everything except for the history class. I really don’t know much about that subject. W: Don’t worry! Mr. Moore is very organized. His lesson plan for the day is very clear and simple. All you need to do is have the students read the next chapter in the book. Then, there is a quiz to pass out. Do you want to play a game? W: Sure. What type of game do you want to play? There are only two of us, and I don’t have any cards or board games. M: That doesn’t matter. We can just ask each other skill-testing questions. W: Oh, I see. You mean to see who is smarter? M: Exactly. I ask you a question, and then you ask me one. Then we keep scoring to see how many we get right. W: All right. Let’s go. M: I’ll go first. Which country has the highest mountain? Is it in China, India, or Pakistan? W: Well, I don’t think it’s Pakistan, so that leaves China and India. And I think Mount Everest is the highest, which is in China…so I’ll say that. India can’t be right. M: Correct. Now it’s your turn. W: Which sport is widely believed to be the most dangerous? Is it mountain climbing, skydiving, or race-car driving? M: Oh, I know this one…it’s mountain climbing. No, wait! It’s definitely race-car driving! W: I’m sorry, that is incorrect. The right answer is skydiving. M: No way. All right, last question. What color is a polar bear’s skin? Black, pink, or white? W: Hold on, I dropped something under the table… I got it! The answer is white. M: No fair! I saw you look at your phone! You didn’t play by the rules! W: As you know, last year I won an essay competition in a magazine. The prize was a trip to stay in an environmentally friendly hotel called Ecolodge for one week. Ecolodge is high up on a mountainside. There’s no air conditioning. If you leave a light on accidentally, it will automatically switch itself off. I liked the outdoor shower but was really puzzled at first when I found there was cold water to wash in. This was because all the water is heated by solar power and when the hot water is finished you just have to wait for the sun to heat up some more! I also spent time at Ecolodge conservation center. It supplies Ecolodge with organic food but this is just a small part of what they do. What the center was built for is to develop green construction techniques and teach local people how to use them. Ecolodge is not just a hotel; it’s a place where you can experience true ecofriendly living. The staff are very friendly and always ready to help you understand more about sustainable living. A In a hurry to get this year’s most popular toys? A Growing Place, a Growing Me 【答案】24. D 25. C 26. C 27. 根据第一段“When I was younger, I couldn’t wait to escape from Ramsgate, the harbor town where I grew up on the Isle of Thanet. It could feel small: the same faces in the same places, and where a new café or gallery was often met with doubt. There was this apparent insistence that life was fine as it was. But for a teenager itching to see more, that lack of curiosity was disheartening. I struggled to contribute to various dailies before periods on staff at both magazines and newspapers. (但现实是残酷的。在杂志和报纸工作之前,我努力为各种日报撰稿)”和第三段中“In and among the sharing plates, I found myself on an unending rat race of moving faster and needing to earn more — just to keep up. Rents in London were pressing, apartments were tiny, yet the dream of owning one felt like a cruel joke. (在一顿顿分食小碟菜的聚餐间隙,我发现自己陷入了一场永无止境的激烈竞争,要更快地行动,需要赚更多的钱,只是为了跟上节奏。伦敦的房租压力很大,公寓很小,但拥有一个公寓的梦想感觉就像一个残酷的玩笑)”可知,作者在伦敦的生活充满了挑战。故选C项。 26. 推理判断题。根据第一段中“When I was younger, I couldn’t wait to escape from Ramsgate, the harbor town where I grew up on the Isle of Thanet. (当我年轻的时候,我迫不及待地想要逃离拉姆斯盖特,这个我在萨尼特岛上长大的海港小镇)”和第四段“As I got older, trips back to Thanet opened my eyes to what I had left behind. 通读全文,结合最后一段中“Each visit reminds me that places, like people, can grow without losing their essence. I’ve come to love Thanet as more than just the home I left; it is now the place it continues to become. (每一次到访都提醒我,地方和人一样,可以在不失去本质的情况下成长。我已经不再仅仅把萨尼特岛当作我离开的家;它现在是它继续成为的地方)”可知,文章主要讲述了作者离开家乡去伦敦打拼,历经挑战后回到家乡,重新认识并爱上家乡的故事,表达了作者对家乡和自身成长的深刻感悟。故D项“A Growing Place, a Growing Me (一个成长的地方,一个成长的我)”能概括文章内容,最适合做文章标题。故选D项。 C For years, David James, who studies insects at Washington State University, had wanted to examine the migration (迁徙) patterns of West Coast monarch butterflies. D 29. C 30. C 31. 根据文章第一段中“The route the butterflies travel has been hardly known because the populations are too small to follow. For every 200 monarch butterflies tagged (打标签) by a researcher, only one is usually recovered at the end of its trip, James says, and finding even 200 in the wild to tag is unlikely(蝴蝶的迁徙路线几乎无人知晓,因为它们的数量太少,难以追踪。詹姆斯说,研究人员每标记200只黑脉金斑蝶,通常在它们的旅程结束时只能找回一只,而且在野外找到200只来标记都是不太可能的)”可知,在大卫的研究中,找到足够数量的黑脉金斑蝶来进行标记是很困难的。故选D项。 29. 推理判断题。根据第一段“Knowing the route is vital to conservation efforts, but James had no way to figure it out—until he got a phone call from Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla(了解迁徙路线对保护工作至关重要,但詹姆斯一直无法弄清楚——直到他接到了来自沃拉沃拉的华盛顿州立监狱的电话)”以及第三段“The tags included email addresses, and soon after the first butterflies took off, James started receiving messages from people who had spotted them. The butterflies, the reports confirmed, wintered in coastal California.(标签上有电子邮件地址,第一批蝴蝶起飞后不久,詹姆斯就开始收到发现它们的人发来的信息。报告证实,这些蝴蝶在加利福尼亚海岸过冬)”可知,蝴蝶在放生前被贴上了标签是为了能够追踪它们的飞行路线。故选C项。 30. 细节理解题。根据最后一段“Watching the monarch butterfly change their form also touched the men. “This butterfly changed,” James recalls prisoners telling him, “and maybe we can too.”(看着黑脉金斑蝶改变它们的形态也触动了这些囚犯。詹姆斯回忆起囚犯们告诉他:“这只蝴蝶改变了,也许我们也可以。”)可知,是黑脉金斑蝶从一种形态转变为另一种形态的过程,让囚犯们觉得自己也有可能像蝴蝶一样发生改变。故选C项。 31. 主旨大意题。根据最后一段“The work helps researchers identify ideal places to plant milkweed and other vegetation that are important to the life cycle of West Coast monarch butterflies. It also brought out the gentler side of some of the prisoners. “They were very worried that they were going to harm the butterflies,” James says. Watching the monarch butterfly change their form also touched the men. “This butterfly changed,” James recalls prisoners telling him, “and maybe we can too.”(这项工作帮助研究人员确定了种植马利筋和其他对西海岸黑脉金斑蝶生命周期很重要的植物的理想地点。 故选A项。 D Time is something we feel every day — rushing to school, glancing at watches, counting down minutes. 【答案】32. D 33. C 34. C 35. B 【难度】0.45 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要从量子角度探讨时间的产生与方向。 32. 细节理解题。根据第一段中“Yet, surprisingly, modern physics struggles to explain why time moves forward at all. Einstein’s theory of relativity describes time as part of a fixed 4D spacetime, where past, present, and future coexist like pages in a book. Quantum mechanics does not naturally treats time as special — many processes could run backward just as well. (然而,令人惊讶的是,现代物理学很难解释为什么时间会向前移动。爱因斯坦的相对论将时间描述为固定的四维时空的一部分,过去、现在和未来像书中的页面一样共存。量子力学并不自然地把时间视为特殊的——许多过程也可以逆向运行。)”可知,我们对时间的理解因物理学角度不同而有差异。故选D。 33. 推理判断题。根据第三段中“In a 2024 study, scientists created a model using entangled quantum magnets and a spring. The entire system was static (静态的), yet the spring’s state changed over time relative to the clock, demonstrating how time might arise from entanglement. (在2024年的一项研究中,科学家们使用纠缠的量子磁体和弹簧创建了一个模型。整个系统是静态的,然而,相对于时钟,弹簧的状态随时间而变化,这展示了时间是如何从纠缠中产生的。)”可知,科学家创建这个模型是为了展示时间是如何从纠缠中产生的。故选C。 34. 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“More strikingly, Verrucci argues time’s direction may come from quantum measurement. Each time we observe reality, possibilities collapse into facts — a one-way process. ‘You create time,’ she says, ‘when you ask what time it is.’ (更引人注目的是,Verrucci认为时间的方向可能来自量子测量。每次我们观察现实时,可能性都会坍缩成事实——这是一个单向的过程。‘当你问现在几点时,你就在创造时间,’她说。)”可知,Verrucci认为观察时间有助于创造时间。故选C。 35. 推理判断题。根据第二段中“A groundbreaking perspective was proposed in 1983 by scientists Page and Wootters. They proposed that time is an illusion (幻觉) created by quantum entanglement (纠缠). (1983年,科学家Page和Wootters提出了一个开创性的观点。他们提出,时间是由量子纠缠产生的幻觉。)”以及下文内容可知,文章主要探讨了时间是如何从量子纠缠中产生的,因此文章的主要目的是从量子联系的角度探索时间的起源。故选B。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Patience Is a Virtue In the Paris Olympic Games, Dutch runner Sifan Hassan realized one of the most outstanding achievements in running history. 【答案】36. B 37. F 38. A 39. C 40. E 【难度】0.65 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章主要解释了耐心是一种美德的原因和对人们的影响。 36. 根据上文“In the Paris Olympic Games, Dutch runner Sifan Hassan realized one of the most outstanding achievements in running history. On the biggest stage in sports, Hassan competed in three events — running two rounds of the 5,000-meter run, the 10,000-meter run, and the marathon — over nine days.(在巴黎奥运会上,荷兰运动员哈桑取得了跑步史上最杰出的成就之一。在体育的最大舞台上,哈桑参加了三个项目的比赛——两轮5000米跑、10000米跑和马拉松——历时九天)”可知,上文讲述了比赛的过程,本句为本段最后一句,故说明比赛最终的成果。故B选项“最后,她获得了三枚奖牌”符合语境,故选B。 37. 根据上文“Well, what led to her success?(那么,是什么导致了她的成功?)”可知,上文询问了她成功的原因,并且接下来的段落开头是“As a matter of fact, patience is also a feature of a good life beyond sports.(事实上,除了运动之外,耐心也是美好生活的一个特征)”表明耐心与她的成功有关。故F选项“当然,耐心是主要因素之一”符合语境,故选F。 38. 根据上文“I used to run by a field in the winter months that had a sign that read(我曾经在冬天的几个月里跑过一块田地,上面写着)”以及下文“I laughed at that sign, positioned on a barren (荒芜的) field. But as spring approached, the day arrived when I would run past the field, and, suddenly, it was no longer barren. It was full of wildflowers of various colors and shapes.(我笑了笑那个牌子,它位于一块贫瘠的田地上。但是随着春天的临近,当我跑过田野的时候,突然间,它不再是贫瘠的了。那里开满了各种颜色和形状的野花)”可知,上下文是关于田野里的一个标志。在后面的文本中,描述了冬天荒芜的田野在春天如何变成了开满野花的地方。故A选项“野花正在生长”符合语境,故选A。 39. 根据上文“The flowers had been there all along, in various stages, from seed to blossom (开花), making progress beneath the dirt. Patience is a lot like a wildflower field.(这些花一直在那里,从种子到开花,处于不同的阶段,在泥土下生长。 40. 根据本段内容“Philosopher Matthew Pianalto calls patience a foundational virtue. He cites a well-known saying that patience is the root and guardian of all the virtues. Stated differently, it is difficult to be loving, courageous, or wise without patience.(哲学家马修·皮亚纳托称耐心是一种基本的美德。 “It’s cancer.” I’ll never forget the day my mom said those words to me last year. 【答案】56. promising 57. to use 58. with 59. combination 60. collected 61. is 62. has evolved 63. and 64. what 65. currently 【难度】0.65 【导语】这是一篇新闻报道。 固定结构:the first/second/... + 名词 + to do。to use 表示“去使用”,主动关系,且与 model 之间存在逻辑上的主谓关系(模型使用技术)。故填 to use。 58. 考查介词。句意:……并将与其传统的基于物理学的对应版本——综合预报系统(IFS)并排运行。固定搭配:side by side with,意思是“与……并排、一起、同时”。介词 with 表示“和……一起”,不可省略或替换。故填 with。 59. 考查词性转换。句意:AIFS 的预报建立在 IFS 所依赖的相同的数据组合之上。空格前有 the same,空格后有of data,中间需要一个名词。括号内给出动词 combine(结合),其名词形式为 combination。the same combination of data What distinguishes the two models(区别这两种模型的东西),这是一个主语从句。主语从句作主语时,谓语动词通常用单数形式。全文为一般现在时,且主句描述的是客观事实。故填is。 62. 考查动词时态。句意:……基于其对过去天气如何演变的知识。空格出现在how the weather ___ in the past 这个宾语从句中。时间状语in the past表示“在过去一直到现在”,强调对现在知识的影响。语境上,模型学习的是“过去天气演变到现在”的整个过程,适合用现在完成时。evolve 是不及物动词,主动形式。故填has evolved。 63. 考查并列连词。句意:我们将 AIFS 和 IFS 视为互补的,并且是向用户社区提供一系列产品的一部分。 空格前是complementary(形容词),空格后是part of ...(名词短语)。原句结构:as A and B,即as complementary and (as) part of ...。需要并列连词连接两个并列成分。故填 and。 64. 考查连接代词(宾语从句引导词)。句意:……用户社区自己决定什么东西最符合他们的需求。who decide ___ best suits their needs中,decide后面接一个宾语从句。宾语从句中缺少主语,意思是“……的东西/事情”。what best suits their needs =“最符合他们需求的那个东西”。what相当于the thing that。故填what。 65. 注意:写作词数应为80个左右; ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文 Aiming to foster students’ critical thinking about AI and deepen their understanding of technological impacts, the Student Union organized a debate on “AI, our friend or our enemy?” last weekend. The debate kicked off with two teams presenting their arguments. The pro side emphasized that AI enhances learning efficiency and provides convenient solutions for study. The con side argued that relying on AI too much might weaken independent thinking. Both teams exchanged ideas fiercely, analyzing the benefits and challenges of AI application. The activity was well-received by all participants. Not only did it broaden students’ horizons on AI, but also it encouraged them to balance AI use with independent thinking. 【难度】0.65 【导语】本篇书面表达属于报道类应用文。要求考生以李华的身份,为校英语报报道学生会举办的AI 主题辩论活动。 【详解】1.词汇积累 培养:foster→cultivate 加深:deepen→consolidate 提高:enhance→boost 削弱:weaken→undermine 2.句式拓展:合并句子 原句:The pro side emphasized that AI enhances learning efficiency and provides convenient solutions for study. Run!” 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 His sister didn’t hear him. __________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Then the bull rushed at the place where his sister had been. ________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________【答案】     His sister didn’t hear him. She just kept singing and swinging. The bull was halfway across the field and closing in fast. David’s heart pounded. It was now or never. He ran across the chicken yard, jumped over the fence and dashed toward his sister. He ran faster than he had ever run before. Catching one of the ropes, David made the swing stop and pulled his sister sideways to the ground. Then the bull rushed at the place where his sister had been. The little girl let out a terrified cry. The bull stopped, still making deep sounds. Then it faced the siblings and lowered its head to launch another attack. Seeing this, David quickly pulled off his sister’s sweater and threw it as far away as possible. The bull followed it. As the bull was tearing the sweater into pieces, David half-dragged and half-carried his sister to safety. After Mary calmed down, she thanked her brother for rescuing her. From that day on, Mary just laughed every time David called her a ‘big baby’. 词汇激活 行为类:①抓住:catch/grab/seize ②扔:throw/cast ③救:rescue/save 情绪类:①害怕的,恐惧的:terrified/frightened ②感激:thank/be grateful for/show gratitude to 【点睛】 【高分句型1】Catching one of the ropes, David made the swing stop and pulled his sister sideways to the ground. For a while,it was enough. Then it became too much.In and among the sharing plates,I found myself on an unending rat race of moving faster and needing to earn more-just to keep up.Rents in London were pressing, apartments were tiny, yet the dream of owning one felt like a cruel joke. As I got older, trips back to Thanet opened my eyes to what I had left behind.Mainly,it was the sea.Wide yellow sands and even the touch of salt in the air, ordinary in childhood, suddenly felt appealing. But I also started to miss the beat of small-town life:waving to people on the street, noticing whose garden was overgrown, finding charm even in the pubs I had once dismissed. What's more, where I'd once hurried to leave, others are now rushing to arrive.Artists, creatives, and technologists have been priced out of London and are pouring to Thanet, bringing new ideas and drive. Now,when I head back home,I feel a mixture of pride and mild wonder:the place I once thought I'd outgrown has had a facelift I wasn't expecting. The prison was looking for new activities to improve the mental health of those serving longterm sentences. So James began working with prisoners to raise monarch butterflies through the whole process of their transformation. The adult insects were then tagged and released from the prison.Over five years, nearly 10,000 monarch butterflies flew from the facility.Elsewhere in Washington,Oregon and Idaho, researchers released another few thousand. The tags included email addresses, and soon after the first butterflies took off,James started receiving messages from people who had spotted them. The butterflies, the reports confirmed, wintered in coastal California. Twelve of them landed at Lighthouse Field State Beach in Santa Cruz.Several more headed to Bolinas and Morro Bay. The work helps researchers identify ideal places to plant milkweed and other vegetation that are important to the life cycle of West Coast monarch butterflies. It also brought out the gentler side of some of the prisoners."They were very worried that they were going to harm the butterflies,"James says.Watching the monarch butterfly change their form also touched the men."This butterfly changed,"James recalls prisoners telling him,"and maybe we can too.” 28.What was hard for David to do in his study? A.Gain financial support. B.Hire qualified workers. C.Build a new laboratory. D.Find enough monarch butterflies. 29.Why were the butterflies tagged before being released? A.To guarantee their safety. B.To enable them to fly longer distances. C.To track their travel routes D.To distinguish them from other species 试卷第6页,共12页 30.What makes the prisoners feel that they can change? A.The patience the butterflies showed. B.The hardship the butterflies underwent. C.The transformation of the butterflies. D.The devotion of James to the butterflies 31.What is the last paragraph mainly about? A.The impact of the research. B.The findings of James'study. C.The release of the prisoners D.The life cycle of the butterflies. D Time is something we feel every day-rushing to school, glancing at watches, counting down minutes.Yet, surprisingly, modern physics struggles to explain why time moves forward at all.Einstein's theory of relativity describes time as part of a fixed 4D spacetime, where past, present, and future coexist like pages in a book. Quantum mechanics(量子力学)does not naturally treats time as special一many processes could run backward just as well.So where does time's flow come from? A groundbreaking perspective was proposed in 1983 by scientists Page and Wootters. They proposed that time is an illusion (created by quantum entanglement().They envisioned the universe as a timeless quantum state. When one part acts as a"clock"and becomes entangled with the rest, time seems to emerge-just like page numbers help us read a story in order. Experimental support is accumulating. In a 2024 study, scientists created a model using entangled quantum magnets and a spring. The entire system was static )yet the spring's state changed over time relative to the clock, demonstrating how time might arise from entanglement. But what could serve as the universe's real clock?Italian physicist Paola Verrucci points to black holes. They are isolated, highly energetic,and-thanks to Hawking radiation-can entangle with the outside world."It's a perfect clock,"she says."You can't touch it,but you can be linked to it." More strikingly,Verrucci argues time's direction may come from quantum measurement Each time we observe reality, possibilities collapse into facts-a one-way process."You create time,"she says,"when you ask what time it is."This view transforms our role from passive witnesses of time to active participants.Time may not be a pre-existing river carrying us,but a story we co-write through our interactions with a quantum universe. 32.What can we know from paragraph 1? A.The theory of relativity views time as independent of space B.Modern physics can explain why time moves forward easily C.Quantum mechanics specially focuses on the study of time. 试卷第7页,共12页 D.Our understanding of time varies from physics perspectives. 33.Why did the scientists create the model? A.To explain the quantum entanglement. B.To support a timeless quantum state. C.To show how time comes from entanglement. D.To confimm time exists in a static universe. 34.Which viewpoint might Verrucci agree with? A.Hawking radiation generated time B.There is no ideal clock in universe C.Observing time helps to create time. D.Time existed as a river before humans. 35.What is the main purpose of the text? A.To present the history of quantum mechanics. B.To explore the origin of time from quantum links. C.To compare a couple of known spacetime theories. D.To illustrate technology of quantum entanglement. 第二节(共5小题:每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Patience Is a virtue In the Paris Olympic Games,Dutch runner Sifan Hassan realized one of the most outstanding achievements in running history. On the biggest stage in sports,Hassan competed in three events-running two rounds of the 5,000-meter run,the 10,000-meter run,and the marathon-over nine days.36 Early in each race, viewers may have counted Hassan out. While some runners took off quickly to claim front-running positions early,Hassan held back and conserved her energy. She waited to release her final charge right when she needed to-at the end of each race, timing things perfectly to secure a medal.Well, what led to her success?37 As a matter of fact, patience is also a feature of a good life beyond sports. Here are some reminders about this often-underappreciated virtue. I used to run by a field in the winter months that had a sign that read,"38 "I laughed at that sign, positioned on a barren()field.But as spring approached, the day arrived when I would run past the field, and, suddenly,it was no longer barren. It was full of wildflowers of various colors and shapes. The flowers had been there all along,in various stages, from seed to blossom ()making progress beneath the dirt.Patience is a lot like a wildflower field.39 But waiting well often involves a lot of determination and unseen work. 试卷第8页,共12页 40 Philosopher Matthew Pianalto calls patience a foundational virtue. He cites a well-known saying that patience is the root and guardian of all the virtues.Stated differently,it is difficult to be loving, courageous,or wise without patience. A.Wildflowers are in progress. B.Ultimately, she secured three medals. C.To outsiders,it can look like inaction D.Sometimes, patience requires preparation. E.Patience supports many other virtues as well. F.Patience was,of course, one of the major factors. G.Patience is rarely celebrated in a culture that prizes speed. 第IⅡ卷(非选择题) 第三部分语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题:每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 "It's cancer."I'll never forget the day my mom said those words to me last year. The Price was a trip to stay in an environmentally friendly hotel called ecology for one week. Ecology is high up on the mountain side. There's no air conditioning. If you leave a light on accidentally, IT will automatically switch itself off. I liked the outdoor shower, but was really puzzled LED at first when I found there was cold water to wash in. This was because all the water is heated by solar power, and when hot water is finished, you just have to wait for the sun to heat up some more. I also spent time at ecology conservation center. IT supplies ecology with organic food, but this is just a small part of what they do. What the santa built for is to develop Green construction techniques and teach local people how to use them. Ecologist, not just a hotel, it's a place where you can experience two equal friendly living. The staff are very friendly and always ready to help you understand more about sustainable living. 第二节 His sister didn’t hear him. 听力录音稿 Text 1 W: Bill, I have to say sorry to you. I accidentally spilled coffee on the novel you lent me.
