前文提到“Pang Cong was worried.”,后文是庞葱向魏王提问的内容,由此可知此处需要承接“担忧”的状态,引出后续对话。选项D“The king asked him why he looked so worried”既承接了庞葱的担忧,又自然引出下文他的提问。
【13题详解】
前文庞葱问“‘If one person tells you there is a tiger in the street, will you believe it?’ The king answered, ‘No.’”,后文是国王回答“I will be a little doubtful.”,再结合后文“‘If three people tell you the same thing, will you believe it?’”的递进逻辑,此处是“一个人”到“三个人”之间的过渡,对应“两个人”的情况。选项E“If two people tell you the same thing, will you believe it”符合语境和逻辑。
【14题详解】
前文国王回答“Yes, I will.”,后文是“He told the king that many people might say bad words about him when he was away.”,说明此处是庞葱向国王解释自己的担忧。选项A“Pang Cong then explained his worry to the king”承上启下,符合语境。
【15题详解】
前文提到“However, when Pang Cong came back later, the king no longer wanted to meet him.”,此处需要说明国王不见庞葱的原因。选项B“The king thought Pang Cong was a bad man at last”解释了国王的行为,符合故事结局的逻辑。

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】范文:
Should Old People’s Scooters Be Allowed on the Road?
Nowadays, more and more old people use electric scooters for daily travel. In my opinion, they should be allowed on the road but with strict management.
Electric scooters are cheap and easy to operate, bringing great convenience to the elderly who have trouble walking. They help the old go shopping and see doctors easily. However, many old people’s scooters are of poor quality and run at unstable speeds. Besides, some elderly riders break traffic rules, causing safety risks and traffic problems.
So the government should make safety rules, require registration and speed limits, and teach the elderly traffic knowledge. In this way, scooters can be safe and helpful.
