在复合句中充当主语成分的句子叫作主语从句。主语从句可直接放在句首,也可用形式主语it代替,而将主语从句后置。

在复合句中作表语的从句,叫作表语从句。它位于主句的系动词之后,对主语进行解释、说明,使主语的内容具体化。含有表语从句的复合句的一般结构为“主语+连系动词+表语从句”。可以接表语从句的连系动词有be, seem, look, sound, taste, feel, remain, appear等。另外,because, as if, as though, as, like等也可引导表语从句。
