W: Sounds interesting! It teaches them about how white light is made up.

The dolphin was just 5 days old when she was found far from water on the muddy ground in a nature reserve. She became stuck there. A man who was watching birds spotted the baby dolphin surrounded by cattle in mud through his telescope. He immediately called the nature reserve that helped the little dolphin to safety. Once she was rescued, she was sent straight to the hospital, where animal doctors took care of her. The baby dolphin couldn’t breathe normally, so the animal doctors had to deal with it first. Now she’s doing well and gaining weight. But she isn’t ready to be returned to the sea yet. She needs to weigh between 30 and 40 kilograms. She also needs to be able to feed in the water by herself before she can be set free. It is not known exactly how she got so far from the sea. Luckily, she is getting better. Doctors named her “Lucky”. Well, thanks for listening to our program. See you next week.

(24-25高二下·山东淄博·期中)Erin Willman, who lost her vision at fifteen, faced numerous challenges as people often told her what she cannot do, but she wanted to show them what she can do. Turned down from job applications due to her blindness, Erin decided to create her own path. Within a year, she established White Cane Coffee, becoming its CEO and proving that her disability would not hinder her ambitions.
White Cane Coffee has grown from an idea born on a tough day into a thriving business with Erin’s coffee available in multiple cities. The company’s commitment to inclusiveness is evident in its unique product labeling; each package features Braille, making it one of the pioneering companies to label all products this way. This initiative addresses Erin’s belief that visually impaired individuals should be able to shop independently.

(24-25高二下·山东淄博·期中)Many of you may have used Siri, a voice assistant of US tech company Apple. You only have to say “hey Siri” and it will answer to your command. However, we may be sacrificing our privacy to enjoy this convenience.
According to a recent report by the Guardian, Siri can be accidentally triggered and start recording private conversations, such as discussions between doctors and patients Some of these recordings are then given to workers outside the company to review. Apple claimed the data was used to help Siri improve, but users were not informed of this measure in the first place. Apple’s Siri is not the only voice assistant to come under fire. In 2018, Alexa, a voice assistant developed by US tech company Amazon, recorded a private conversation between a couple and sent it to a stranger without their permission.
These issues deepened concerns that tech companies are infringing (侵犯) users’ rights of privacy. Many people have long feared that tech companies are listening and collecting data from private conversations, reported Forbes. Using this data, third party companies could then paint an accurate picture of users’ habits and preferences in order to serve them more targeted advertisements, or even worse, sell this private data.
Despite this risk, the popularity of voice assistant seems to be unstoppable. In the near future, everything from your lighting to your air-conditioning to your refrigerator, your coffee maker, and even your toilet could be wired to a system controlled by voice, commented The Atlantic.
Colin Horgan wrote on the blog site Medium that he believed people’s daily lives will soon become a source of data. “The sounds of our homes, the symphony of life laughing, crying, talking, shouting, sitting in silence-will no longer be considered memories, but data,” he wrote. To deal with the issue, Blake Morgan, reporter for The Atlantic, believed that the answer is transparency. “All companies need to have messaging ready to explain to customers what they do with private data,” she wrote on The Atlantic.
28.What can be inferred from Paragraph 2?

30.What should companies do in response according to the last paragraph?
A.Stop collecting data through voice assistant. B.Explain their use of the data to customers.
C.Make their data more transparent. D.Collect data to better keep memories.
31.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text?
A.To show visions of a data world in the future.
B.To criticize companies’ invading customers’ privacy.
C.To inform people of what tech companies are really up to.

(24-25高二下·山东枣庄·期中)What is our purpose? What aims should we pursue to live a rewarding life? There is no more important topic than the meaning of our life. Among many books which help us find the meaning of life, Man’s Search for Meaning is at the top of my list. It was written by Austrian psychiatrist (精神病学家) Viktor Frankl, who lived from 1905 to 1997.
Frankl argues that our primary task in life is to provide it with meaning, whatever form this may take. In the deeply moving book, Frankl relates that those who managed to stay in touch with what made their life meaningful in the Nazi extermination camps were more likely to survive. Their personal meaning took many different forms. It could be a strong desire to return to a beloved person, or complete a creative or intellectual project, or simply the strong wish to help others. If there is a powerful “why” that drives us, Frankl declares, we can tolerate almost any “how”.
Frankl believes that we can discover the meaning of life in three main areas-by doing a deed or creating a work;by meeting with someone or experiencing something;by the attitude we take towards unavoidable suffering. The meaning of our life can be creativity in the broad sense of the word. This includes not only creative works but also merely making something, learning something, or being productive. Meaning can also be found in the experience of love and the appreciation of beauty, excellence, culture and nature.
More importantly, Frankl argues that meaning has to be located outside ourselves. It has to be discovered in the world rather than in our own souls. “Being a human being,” he writes, “always points and is directed to something, or someone, other than oneself-be it a meaning to achieve or another human being to meet.”
Frankl’s existentialist (存在主义的) approach, then, invites us to let go of our obsession (迷恋) with ourselves and values such as self-realization, self-improvement, and happiness. Instead, he urges us to focus on the meaning that lies outside the boundaries of our own souls.
32.What does Frankl mean by saying the underlined words?
A.We are guided by the purpose of life.
B.We are encouraged by many questions.
C.We are forced to do something unusual.
D.We are urged to find the secret of success.
33.What is the third paragraph mainly about?
A.How to define the meaning of life. B.Why the meaning of life is important.
C.How to find the meaning of life. D.Why we need the meaning of life.
34.What should we focus on according to Viktor Frankl?
A.Finishing an ambitious project. B.Making a difference to others.
C.Pursuing great success. D.Struggling for happiness.
35.What is the text?
A.A news report. B.A short story.
C.A diary entry. D.A book review.
【答案】32.A 33.C 34.B 35.D

根据第二段 “Frankl argues that our primary task in life is to provide it with meaning, whatever form this may take. If there is a powerful “why” that drives us, Frankl declares, we can tolerate almost any “how” .(弗兰克尔认为,我们生活中的首要任务是赋予它意义,无论这种意义以何种形式存在。 故选A。
根据第三段“Frankl believes that we can discover the meaning of life in three main areas - by doing a deed or creating a work; by meeting with someone or experiencing something; by the attitude we take towards unavoidable suffering.(弗兰克尔认为,我们可以在三个主要方面发现生命的意义 —— 通过做一件事或创造一件作品;通过遇见某人或经历某事;通过我们对不可避免的苦难所采取的态度)”可知,第三段主要讲述的是如何找到生命的意义。故选C。
根据第四段“More importantly, Frankl argues that meaning has to be located outside ourselves. It has to be discovered in the world rather than in our own souls.Being a human being,” he writes, “always points and is directed to something, or someone, other than oneself-be it a meaning to achieve or another human being to meet
根据第一段“Among many books which help us find the meaning of life, Man’s Search for Meaning is at the top of my list. It was written by Austrian psychiatrist Viktor Frankl...(在许多帮助我们找到生命意义的书中,《活出生命的意义》是我的首选。它是由奥地利精神病学家维克多・弗兰克尔所著……)”以及后文对书中关于生命意义观点的阐述可知,本文是一篇书评。故选D。

(24-25高二下·黑龙江哈尔滨·期中)
Will AI Replace Teachers?
The AI teacher is also known as the mechanical teacher. 36 It’s a computer or machine that can teach a student according to the level it’s programmed to teach.
While the thought of a reliable computer teaching your child might seem promising, AI cannot adapt its teaching to its students during mid-lesson or read its students’ emotions as a human teacher can. 37 It also cannot inspire its students as a human teacher can. The biggest benefit of the human teacher is that he or she gives students human connections they need.
There are some who believe that teachers will be completely replaced by robots by the year 2027. Human teachers do carry with them some disadvantages. Some teachers can be of poor character. Others can have a compromising character or not be as knowledgeable about particular subjects as they should be. 38
If you ask anyone the top qualities of a good teacher, an AI cannot meet these standards. They include friendly attitude, listening skills, respectful attitude, strong work ethic, patience, discipline skills, and so forth. AI cannot replace teachers. They cannot give a child what he or she needs. 39
40 It makes the human teacher’s job easier and helps him or her to be more efficient. This added efficiency allows him or her the time he or she needs to work more one-on-one with students to provide more adaptability and understanding for them. The two things are what an AI teacher would struggle to provide.
A.Frankly speaking, students have their own disadvantages too.
B.It is exactly what it sounds like.
C.However, this does not mean that AI is not necessary.
D.Luckily, the good news is that AI shows more respect for teachers.
E.Students long for the student-teacher bond, cooperation, and love.
F.It fails to simplify problems students have unless it’s programmed to do so.
G.These drawbacks can be corrected, though, through proper monitoring.
36.前文“The AI teacher is also known as the mechanical teacher. (人工智能老师也被称为机器老师)”提到人工智能老师的另一名称,后文“It’s a computer or machine that can teach a student according to the level it’s programmed to teach. (它是一台能根据预设教学水平来教导学生的计算机或机器)”解释机器老师的具体含义,此处需要一个过渡句,肯定机器老师名称的合理性,因此B项“It is exactly what it sounds like. (它正如其名)”符合语境,承前启后。故选B。
37.前文“While the thought of a reliable computer teaching your child might seem promising, AI cannot adapt its teaching to its students during mid-lesson or read its students’ emotions as a human teacher can. (尽管一台可靠的计算机来教导孩子的想法看似前景广阔,但人工智能无法像人类教师那样在授课过程中根据学生情况调整教学方式,也无法读懂学生的情绪)”提到与人类教师相比,人工智能教学无法适应学生或读懂情绪,此处应补充人工智能的另一个局限性,因此F项“It fails to simplify problems students have unless it’s programmed to do so. (除非被编程,否则它无法简化学生的问题)”符合语境,承接前文,其中的It指代前文的AI。故选F。
38.前文“Human teachers do carry with them some disadvantages. Some teachers can be of poor character. Others can have a compromising character or not be as knowledgeable about particular subjects as they should be. (人类教师确实也存在一些不足之处。有些教师可能品德欠佳,另一些则可能性格软弱,或者在特定学科领域的知识储备达不到应有水平)”列举了人类教师的缺点,此处应补充如何解决这些缺点,因此G项“These drawbacks can be corrected, though, through proper monitoring. (不过,这些缺点可以通过适当的监督来纠正)”符合语境,承接前文,其中的drawbacks呼应前文的disadvantages。故选G。
39.前文“AI cannot replace teachers. They cannot give a child what he or she needs. (人工智能无法取代教师。它无法给予孩子真正需要的东西)”强调人工智能无法满足学生的需求,此处应具体说明学生需要什么,因此E项“Students long for the student-teacher bond, cooperation, and love. (学生渴望师生之间的纽带、合作和关爱)”符合语境,承接前文。故选E。
40.前文段落主要指出人工智能无法取代人类教师,后文“It makes the human teacher’s job easier and helps him or her to be more efficient. This added efficiency allows him or her the time he or she needs to work more one-on-one with students to provide more adaptability and understanding for them. (人工智能让人类教师的工作更轻松,并帮助他们提高效率。这种效率的提升使教师能够腾出更多时间进行一对一教学,从而为学生提供更具适应性和理解力的教育)”提到人工智能能辅助人类教师提高效率,从而提升教育质量,此处需转折,说明人工智能仍有其必要性,因此C项“However, this does not mean that AI is not necessary. (然而,这并不意味着人工智能是不必要的)”符合语境,和前文构成转折,引出后文。故选C。

Helping the Elderly Cross the Digital Divide
Last week, I took part in a volunteer activity organized by our school’s volunteer club. A group of us visited a senior center to help the elderly learn to use smartphones. We showed them how to make video calls to family, pay bills online, and use health-related apps. Some seniors even learned to take and edit photos! Though they faced difficulties, their eagerness to learn touched us deeply. This experience was very meaningful. It made me realize that small acts of kindness can bring great convenience to the elderly. More importantly, it bridged the generation gap. Seeing their satisfied smiles when mastering new skills, I felt proud to be part of this effort.
I hope more people will join in helping the elderly keep up with the digital age.

It was a sunny morning when I packed my bags for a business trip. The house was filled with the usual hustle and bustle (熙熙攘攘), but today there was a sense of excitement mixed with a bit of anxiety. This would be the first time I would be leaving my son, Max, behind for a few days. Max, five years old, was used to having me around. Little did he know, today was going to be a day of new experiences and emotions.
As I took out my suitcase, Max entered the room, his eyes wide with curiosity. “Mom, where are you going?” he asked, his voice carrying innocence and some concern. I smiled, “I’ve to go on a trip for work, Max. I’ll be back in a few days.”
Max’s eyes grew even wider, and I could see the look of shock on his face. He had never been apart from me for more than a day, and the concept of me being away was completely new to him. “But, Mom, who will take care of me?” he asked, his voice trembling (颤抖) slightly.
I hugged him tightly, saying, “Dad will be here with you, and Grandma is coming over to help. You’ll have so much fun with them, and I’ll call you every day,” I said, hoping to ease his worries. Max nodded slowly, but I could tell he was still unsure.
As the day went on, I noticed Max staying close to me, watching my every move. He helped me pack, and brought me items he thought I might need, like his favorite toy car and a drawing he made for me. His small gestures touched my heart, and I realized how much he cared.
When it was finally time for me to leave, Max stood by the door, his expression a mix of bravery and sadness. I hugged him one last time and whispered, “I’ll be back before you know it, Max. Be good and remember that I love you.” He nodded, with tears in his eyes.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;
As I drove away, I couldn’t help but glance back at the house.

When I finally returned home, Max greeted me with the biggest hug ever.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________【答案】
As I drove away, I couldn’t help but glance back at the house. There he was, standing at the window, waving with a small smile on his face. It was a moment that touched my heart, but I knew this experience would be valuable for both of us. During my trip, I called Max every evening. We talked about his day, the fun he was having with Dad and Grandma, and the new things he was learning. Each call seemed to ease his worries a little more, and by the third day, he sounded more confident and happier.
When I finally returned home, Max greeted me with the biggest hug ever. “Mom! You’re back!” he exclaimed, his face lighting up with joy. At that moment, I realized how much he had grown in just a few days. He had faced his fears and come out stronger. This experience taught Max an important lesson about resilience and independence. It showed him that even when things change, he can adapt and thrive. It also reminded me of the importance of developing these qualities in him and helping him become a strong and confident individual.

A.There are some fire-proof voice assistants.
B.Many voice assistants are. being developed.
C.Some voice assistants are also being criticized besides Siri.

A.Serving them targeted advertisements. B.Sending their message.
C.Invading their privacy. D.Making no improvements.
D.To draw attention to the privacy issue concerning voice assistants.

Beyond selling high-quality coffee, the company champions inclusiveness by creating employment opportunities for blind and disabled individuals, equipping them with valuable skills and boosting their confidence. The company’s commitment to inclusiveness is evident in its unique product labeling; each package features Braille, making it one of the pioneering companies to label all products this way.
A.There are some fire-proof voice assistants.
B.Many voice assistants are. being developed.
C.Some voice assistants are also being criticized besides Siri.
D.Data collected by Siri is used for better user experience.
29.What seems to be people’s biggest concern about voice assistants?
A.Serving them targeted advertisements. B.Sending their message.
C.Invading their privacy. D.Making no improvements.
D.To draw attention to the privacy issue concerning voice assistants.
