Anna won the game thanks to her hard work—she practiced jumping four times a week. The most interesting event was the tug-of-war. I went to Harbin with my mother in January, but it was not fun. When arriving at the airport, we were told our plane was put off. Finally, the plane took off after two hours. After getting to Harbin, it was snowing heavily. It was very cold so we decided to take a taxi to the hotel right away. Unluckily, my mother got a bad cold because of the cold weather. Everyone learns differently—some people understand better by seeing, some by doing, and others by listening. Finding your suitable learning style makes studying easier and more efficient (高效的). Here are four simple ways to help find the best one for you.
First, try visual learning. Visual learners learn well by seeing and watching. You can watch in-person or online demos, like a Bilibili video on fixing a broken pipe. Other visual methods include using maps, drawings, or note cards. These let you “see” information clearly and remember it easily.
Second, test hands-on learning. Tactile (hands-on) learners learn best by doing. For example, if you study a city’s history, visit places of interest like the Palace Museum in Beijing. You can also interview people or do experiments (实验), like growing a plant for science. Direct action helps you catch ideas quickly.
Third, check auditory learning. Auditory learners learn through listening. To test this style, use audio books or taped lectures (录音讲座). You can also talk with classmates about topics. Hearing and discussing help you remember key points.
Finally, don’t forget to take an online test. After trying the three styles above, taking 1 or 2 quizzes can help: check if the quiz result matches the style you think works best for you.
In short, these methods help you find your best learning style. Then you may study smarter and get better results.
48.What can visual learners do to know the Great Wall best?
A.Paying a visit to it during the holiday.
B.Taking part in a talk on it in the hall.
C.Talking with history teachers about it.
D.Making note cards about it as reading.
49.How does the writer introduce tactile learning?
A.By giving examples. B.By listing numbers.
C.By asking questions. D.By comparing ideas.
50.Which of the following can we infer (推断) about auditory learners from the passage?
A.They need to listen to the same audio 10 times to remember it.
B.They can only learn well by listening to pre-recorded materials.
C.They will always get higher scores in English listening tests.
D.They may find it easier to remember a story by listening to it.

My father gave me a good education and wanted me to be a lawyer(律师).
However, I wanted to be a sailor and go to sea. My father was very angry with me. He didn’t understand why I wanted to leave his house, where I would have an easy and comfortable life.
“Two kinds of people go to sea,” he said. “They are the very poor people and the very rich people. The poor are foolish, having no other way to live. The rich own ships and can make money with them. You are neither too poor nor too rich. You are in the middle, so you should choose a middle way for your life. Stay at home with your mother and me. Your elder brother didn’t listen to me, and now he is dead. If you do not listen to me, you will have a difficult life.”
I tried to do what he wanted me to do, but I couldn’t. I spoke to my mother. “Please ask Dad if he will let me have one voyage(航海)by sea,” I asked her, “When I return, I will live the life he wants me to live.”
Mum was angry. “Your father will not let you go. I don’t want you to go to sea either. It’s dangerous.”
I argued with my parents for another year. Then, I went to Hull with a friend who was going to London by ship. He invited me to go with him, and I agreed. I did not even tell my parents before leaving. I just went. That was how all my bad luck began.

A few months ago, a friend noticed the state of my kitchen floor and decided to have a hand in this. She gifted me a robotic mop. It was programmed to move around a room and clean it up.
When the box arrived, I held back at the sight of the iRobot logo, thinking that the robot might try to spy (秘密监视) on me by collecting my personal information, my data along with my dog’s hair. But the instructions were simple, and I finally decided that I didn’t really care if someone was interested in studying the secrets of my kitchen floor.
I turned on the robot and watched it roll out of their docks to clean the room. I kept showing my guests how they worked. “I think you care more about the robo-mop than us,” one of my teens joked.
Then one day I returned home and found that my robot was missing. Our terrace (露台) door was open and the robo-mop had rolled into the backyard. It was working hard on cleaning the edge of the flower beds. Even as its brushes became stuck with leaves and mud, its little wheels kept on turning round quickly.
It brought home to me the bad points of AI. The robo-mop was acting as it was designed to clean “dirty” things. But the whole point about dirt, as the anthropologist (人类学家) Mary Douglas once noted, is that it is best described as “matter out of space”. In a kitchen, dirt might come in the form of leaves and mud. In a garden, the dirt is “in place”.
It is certain that robots have ever more powerful intelligence (智力) . “This AI tech is powerful and is going to be transformative (具变革性的), so we need to get ahead,” said Eric Schmidt. Schmidt, who was once the head of Google. He also says that soon we will not only see AI-enabled robots designed to figure problems out according to instructions, but those with “general intelligence” too. They might have the ability to deal with new problems they are not asked to solve by learning from each other.
People like Schmidt think that AI will completely change healthcare, education and much else. As for me, I’ll just keep my terrace door shut.
56.How did the author feel at the first sight of the robotic mop?
A.curious B.pleasant C.worried D.uninterested
57.According to the context, what does the phrase “brought home to me” in paragraph 5 mean?
A.let me understand B.made me feel relaxed
C.took me back home D.helped itself know me
58.In Eric Schmidt’s opinion, what might future AIs be able to do?
A.They can spy on people by collecting information and data.
B.They can easily roll into the backyard and mop up flower beds.
C.They can work out problems better and faster than human being
D.They can solve unexpected problems by learning from each other.
59.Which of the following might the writer agree with?
A.AI-enabled robots will have the ability to do all the cleaning up in the future.
B.We must pay more attention to preventing AI from spying on human beings.
C.AI has some weaknesses and it is not sure whether it can be improved soon.
D.AI should be used across industries, including healthcare, education and more.

Animations bring stories to life through moving pictures. The process starts with ideas and scripts. Artists then create characters and scenes. After that, they decide how each scene will move. Next, some artists use the computer to draw thousands of frames (帧). And many draw with special pens. Finally, sound effects and music are added to complete the work.
Cartoons and animated movies have a long history. In the 1930s, Walt Disney made the full-colour animation. Snow White was his most famous early work. Today, studios like Pixar use 3D technology to make films more vivid.
Comic books often give ideas to animation makers. For example, Spider-Man first appeared in comic books in 1962. The brave hero quickly won kids’ love. In 1967 it became a popular cartoon character. Animations help people visit amazing places in our minds. People love animations; so they watch them a lot. More people watching means more money for making new ones. This helps animations continue to grow quickly.
65.How do artists draw thousands of frames?
66.Why do studios like Pixar use 3D technology?
67.When did Spider-Man become a popular cartoon character?
68.What is your favourite Chinese cartoon character? Write 30 words or more.

Do you always feel others are watching and laughing at you after you answer a question in class? This feeling makes you nervous. Such feeling is called the Spotlight Effect (聚光灯效应). It means you think people watch and judge (评判) you much more than they really do.
Kate, a 13-year-old student, knows this feeling well. She cares a lot about others’ ideas about her. When she speaks in class, she imagines her classmates are criticizing (批评) her. She is so nervous that she cannot study well.
This happens because we usually see ourselves as the center of our world. We know our own mistakes clearly, so we think others will notice them, too. In public, we care much more about ourselves. If someone laughs, we may feel nervous at once.
Some people believe caring about others’ attention makes students work harder. But a new study shows it is not true. When students stop worrying too much about what others think, they will show more interest in learning new things.
You can do something to stop this worry. First, focus on your own goals. Then, build confidence through small actions, like speaking up in class once a day. Most importantly, accept your small imperfections (不完美). You don’t have to be perfect.
Being true to yourself is the best way to forget the Spotlight Effect. Just be brave and show the best of you.
The Spotlight Effect is 74 . It makes us think others are watching and judging us. The example of Kate shows it 75 students’ studies. The effect happens mainly because we focus too much on ourselves. Some people think this effect helps, but a study finds that students will 76 learning new things if they care less about others’ opinions. So the writer gives some suggestions on 77 , like focusing on your own aims, building confidence slowly and learning to accept yourself.
【答案】74.a nervous feeling/a feeling that makes you nervous 75.has a bad influence on/has a negative effect on/does harm to/is bad for/is harmful to 76.be more interested in/show greater interest in/take greater interest in 77.how to stop this worry/how to overcome the Spotlight Effect/how to get over the Spotlight Effect/how to deal with the Spotlight Effect/relieving the nervousness from the Spotlight Effect
【解析】本文介绍了聚光灯效应的定义、对学生的影响和产生原因,指出其无积极作用并给出摆脱该心理的建议,强调做自己是最好的解决方法。
74.第一段“This feeling makes you nervous. Such feeling is called the Spotlight Effect.”说明了聚光灯效应的定义,是一种紧张的感觉,因此第一空应填“a nervous feeling/a feeling that makes you nervous”。
75.第二段“Kate, a 13-year-old student, knows this feeling well…She is so nervous that she cannot study well.”说明Kate很紧张导致她无法很好地学习,因此第二空填“has a bad influence on/has a negative effect on/does harm to/is bad for/is harmful to”。
76.第四段“When students stop worrying too much about what others think, they will show more interest in learning new things.”说明当学生不再过分在意别人的看法时,他们会对学习新事物表现出更多的兴趣,因此第三空填“be more interested in/show greater interest in/take greater interest in”。
77.第五段第一句“You can do something to stop this worry. First, focus on your own goals…accept your small imperfections.”说明作者给出的是停止担忧的方法,因此第四空填“how to stop this worry/how to overcome/get over/deal with the Spotlight Effect/relieving the nervousness from the Spotlight Effect”。

How to Get on Well with Parents
In our class, we discussed how to get on well with parents. Here are the results.
Most students agree that we should talk to parents politely, help with housework like washing clothes, and share feelings such as happiness or sadness with them.
For me, I think we should understand their love and put ourselves in their shoes first. For example, they care about us even when we make some mistakes. Additionally, I think spending time together, like cooking or taking walks, can strengthen our relationship. After all, understanding and respecting each other are the keys to a harmonious family.

51.What is the structure of the passage?

My name is Robinson Crusoe, and I was born in the city of York in 1632. My father was a successful businessman. I had two elder brothers. One of them worked in the army and was killed during the war against Spain. The other was missing one day, and we never knew what had happened to him.

66.Why do studios like Pixar use 3D technology?
67.When did Spider-Man become a popular cartoon character?
