【导语】本文是一篇应用文。文章主要介绍了世界上四条最佳徒步路线。
【1题详解】
细节理解题。根据“The King’s Trail, Sweden Length of hike: more than 450 km (瑞典国王小径 长度超过450公里)”、“The Lycian Way, Türkiye Length of hike: 540 km (土耳其利西亚之路 长度为540公里)”、“The Jordan Trail, Jordan Length of hike: 675 km (约旦小径 长度为675公里)”和以及“The Great Ocean Walk, Australia Length of hike: 104 km-110 km (澳大利亚大洋步道 长度在104公里至110公里之间)”可知,大洋步道的长度是最短的。故选D项。
【2题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段中“Considered one of the world’s most amazing hikes, the King’s Trail is known for its remote edge-of-the-world atmosphere, 24/7 midsummer daylight and the August/ September Northern Lights that light up the sky.(国王小径被认为是世界上最令人惊叹的徒步旅行之一,以其偏远的世界边缘氛围、24小时不间断的仲夏阳光以及照亮天空的8月/9月北极光而闻名)”可知,国王小径的特别之处在于其极昼和极光景观。故选B项。
【3题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中“As the most scenic long-distance hike in Türkiye, this hike traces ancient bridges, footpaths and mule (骡子) tracks for a breathtaking journey into the country’s past.(作为土耳其风景最美的长途徒步旅行,这条徒步路线沿着古老的桥梁、人行道和骡子小道,带你进入这个国家令人惊叹的过去)”和第四段中“The Jordan Trail is an ambitious adventure, passing through desert landscape, ancient ruins, villages and towns.(约旦小径是一次雄心勃勃的冒险,穿越沙漠景观、古遗址、村庄和城镇)”可知,利西亚之路和约旦小径的共同之处是它们都经过古代历史遗址。故选C项。

When I bought a house in Portland four years ago, I immediately began designing my dream garden, intending to remove the weeds and plant some vegetables or long-lasting flowers. I soon discovered, however, that the soil was unproductive, clay-heavy and littered with stones. In previous, much tinier gardens, I’d fix it with a few bags of high-quality soil from the nursery. Replacing this vastly greater quantity of dirt was neither practical nor financially possible. Instead, I decided to remediate (补救) what I already had.
The challenge before me was to revitalize the soil. Two core principles of modern agriculture can guide this shift: minimizing soil disturbance and emphasizing biodiversity. In practice, growing crops by turns, prioritizing organic inputs over chemical fertilizers, integrating crops, trees and livestock, and shielding soil from being washed away with cover crops, often work.
I tried to apply such methods in my garden. Where once there was only grass, I created a pond, a rock garden, a wildflower field and raised beds for vegetables. I let plants grow and decompose by themselves in a natural way. I also introduced different plants and revived its ecological communities.
In May, I decided to relocate a flowering plant. As I dug the plant out, all manner of life emerged. Earthworms swung from the roots. A daddy longlegs hurried for shelter. Below the plant I even noticed the fine white lattice of a fungal mycelium.
Running my fingers through the soil, I understood, more clearly than ever before, that I transformed much more than my yard — it completely changed the way I think about soil. It’s not simply as a medium for life, but as a living entity (个体) in its own right. Although science still lacks an agreed definition of life, textbooks highlight criteria widely considered to differentiate the living and nonliving. Soil meets many of them: It has a highly organized structure. It has a capacity for active self-preservation. It grows. It breathes. And it can die.
4. How did the author use to improve the soil?
A. By adding rich soil. B. By covering it with bags.
C. By removing the weeds. D. By applying chemical fertilizer.
5. What does the underlined word “shielding” in paragraph 2 probably mean?
A. Exposing. B. Separating. C. Sheltering. D. Monitoring.
6. What is the purpose of paragraph 4?
A. To explain the process of transplanting. B. To illustrate the prevention of insect attacks.
C. To stress the competition of different species. D. To state the formation of multi-species communities.
7. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. The Soul of Soil B. The Vitality of the Wild
C. The Art of Gardening D. The Whisper of Flowers
【答案】4. A 5. C 6. D 7. A
【解析】
【导语】这是一篇记叙文 。文章讲述作者四年前在波特兰买房后打理花园,面对贫瘠土壤,采用现代农业方法改良,最终对土壤有全新认知的过程。
【4题详解】
细节理解题。根据文章第一段“In previous, much tinier gardens, I’d fix it with a few bags of high-quality soil from the nursery.(以前,在那些小得多的花园里,我会用从苗圃买来的几袋优质土壤来改良土壤)”可知,作者过去是通过添加优质土壤来改善土壤的,也就是添加肥沃的土壤。故选A项。
【5题详解】
词句猜测题。根据划线词上文“Two core principles of modern agriculture can guide this shift: minimizing soil disturbance and emphasizing biodiversity. In practice, growing crops by turns, prioritizing organic inputs over chemical fertilizers, integrating crops, trees and livestock(现代农业的两个核心原则可以指导这一转变:尽量减少土壤扰动和强调生物多样性。在实践中,轮流种植作物;优先使用有机肥料而非化肥;将农作物、树木以及家畜进行整合)”和划线词后面“…soil from being washed away with cover crops (用覆盖作物来……土壤被冲走)”可知,这里说的是一些现代农业的原则及实践方法,提到用覆盖作物来防止土壤被冲走,划线词在此处应是“保护、防护”的意思,与“Sheltering”意思相近。故选C项。
【6题详解】
推理判断题。根据文章第四段“In May, I decided to relocate a flowering plant. As I dug the plant out, all manner of life emerged. Earthworms swung from the roots. A daddy longlegs hurried for shelter. Below the plant I even noticed the fine white lattice of a fungal mycelium.(五月的时候,我决定移栽一株开花植物。
根据文章第二段“The challenge before me was to revitalize the soil. (摆在我面前的挑战是重振土壤)”和最后一段“Running my fingers through the soil, I understood, more clearly than ever before, that I transformed much more than my yard — it completely changed the way I think about soil. It’s not simply as a medium for life, but as a living entity (个体) in its own right.(我用手指穿过土壤,比以往任何时候都更清楚地意识到,我改变的不仅仅是我的院子——它完全改变了我对土壤的看法。它不仅仅是作为生命的媒介,而且本身就是一个有生命的实体)”可知,文章主要讲述了作者打理花园改造土壤的过程,通过实践对土壤有了新的认识,认为土壤不仅仅是生命的介质,它本身就是一个有生命的个体,强调了土壤的重要性及独特“生命力”,因此,A选项“土壤的灵魂”作为标题最为合适,能够概括文章的主旨。故选A项。

The saying “good medicine tastes bitter” may no longer hold in the country where it was born and believed. Xi Linjie, a 20-year-old college student, sought help for fatigue (疲劳) at a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hospital in Chongqing and was pleasantly surprised by a cup of sweet milk tea. “TCM ingredients such as tapioca (木薯粉) and dried tangerine peel (陈皮) are added to the milk tea, yet it tastes delightful. It’s less sweet than regular milk tea and has a subtle herbal fragrance,” she says. “Most importantly, it’s beneficial to health.”
Since 2023, the hospital has blended TCM processing techniques with contemporary food production to attract a younger generation. “Milk tea is a favorite among young people. We hope it can act as a bridge for them to gain more knowledge about TCM and gradually accept it,” says Liao Changying, director of the hospital’s nutrition department.
“The TCM milk tea represents the integration of TCM, modern medicine, nutrition and more. Our goal is to help people prevent and manage diseases while enjoying delicious food and drinks,” Liao explains. Besides, the TCM milk tea shows how traditional medicine is appealing to the younger generation in an approachable manner. Nowadays, one doesn’t even need to visit a hospital to experience TCM in China.
In Chongqing’s Wansheng economic development zone, a TCM night market is held every weekend. “At these diverse stalls, we can enjoy free diagnoses and acupuncture and purchase TCM sachets (香囊) and drinks,” says Yang Jian, a 24-year-old resident. “I never realized TCM could be so close to our daily lives.”
Doctor Wang Huiwu, who attended the night market, is pleased to see many young visitors seeking professional health advice on physical conditioning, which indicates that the younger generation has confidence in TCM. He also suggested that more efforts should be made to integrate TCM with other fields that interest young people, adding, “TCM is becoming a new trend among the youth”.
8. What is the first paragraph mainly about?
A. The personal experience of a college student with TCM.
B. The introduction of a new TCM product.
C. The concept of “good medicine tastes bitter” in TCM.
D. The health benefits of sweet milk tea with TCM ingredients.
9. Why does the hospital integrate TCM with modern tastes?
A. To replace modern medicine with traditional practices.
B. To attract the interest of younger individuals.
C. To make TCM less effective for health benefits.
D. To boost the financial cost of TCM items.
10. What is the TCM night market like?
A. A place for professional health advice.
B. A social event with free entertainment.
C. A venue for experiencing TCM in daily life.
D. A platform for selling TCM products only.
11. What is Doctor Wang Huiwu’s attitude towards TCM?
A. Skeptical. B. Dismissive.
C. Approving. D. Unclear.
【答案】8. A 9. B 10. C 11. C

New research challenges the widespread belief that artificial intelligence (AI) is driving a major rise in global greenhouse gas emissions. Scientists from the University of Waterloo and the Georgia Institute of Technology analyzed U.S. economic data alongside estimates of how frequently AI tools are used across different industries. Their aim was to understand what might happen to the environment if AI adoption increases along its current path.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, 83 percent of the nation’s economic activity relies on petrol, coal and natural gas. These fuels release greenhouse gases when burned. The researchers noted that total energy use from AI in the U.S. matched the electricity consumption of Iceland, yet this amount remained insignificant when viewed at national or global levels.
“It is important to note that the increase in energy use is not going to be uniform. It’s going to be felt more in the places where electricity is produced to power the data centers,” said Dr Juan Moreno-Cruz, a professor at the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development at the University of Waterloo and Canada Research Chair in Energy Transitions. “If you look at that energy from the local perspective, that’s a big deal because some places could see double the amount of electricity output and emissions. But at a larger scale, AI’s use of energy won’t be noticeable.”
“For people who believe that the use of AI will be a major problem for the climate and think we should avoid it, we’re offering a different perspective,” Moreno-Cruz added. “The effects on climate are not that significant, and we can use AI to develop green technologies or to improve existing ones.”
To develop their findings, environmental economists Moreno-Cruz and Dr Anthony Harding reviewed a variety of economic sectors, the types of jobs within those sectors, and the share of tasks that could potentially be performed by AI. Moreno-Cruz and Harding intend to apply the same approach to additional countries in order to understand how AI adoption may affect environmental outcomes across different regions of the world.
12. What is the primary goal of the research?
A. To promote the development of green AI. B. To measure energy consumption worldwide.
C. To warn about AI’s growing energy demands. D. To assess AI’s potential environmental effects.
13. What can be said about AI energy consumption in the U.S.?
A. It contributes to petrol-based activities. B. It will soon reach the global emission target.
C. It has small influence at the national level. D. It exceeds Iceland’s electricity consumption.
14. What do researchers plan to do next?
A. Extend their research to more countries. B. Shift focus to AI’s economic advantages.
C. Develop AI applications to stop emissions. D. Reduce the energy use of AI in data centers.
15. Which of the following is the main idea of the text?
A. AI technology drives greenhouse gas emissions.
B. AI energy consumption urgently needs regulating.
C. Data centers emit more than previously estimated.
D. AI’s impact on climate is much smaller than believed.
【答案】12. D 13. C 14. A 15. D

47. 阅读下面短文,根据其内容和所给段落开头再续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的故事。
It was a weekend. I had already planned to hang out with my friends. However, my mother called after work, her voice filled with childlike excitement. She explained that her company was having a spring outing the next day and asked if I could stop by the bakery on my way home to buy her a bag of coconut bread for lunch.
Without even thinking, I refused, telling her I couldn’t spare time because I had already made plans with my friends. She bargained with me for a long time, insisting that it’s just buying a bag of bread — it wouldn’t take long or delay me. She was almost angry by the end of it, so I reluctantly (勉强地) agreed.
But as soon as I saw the bakery from a distance, my heart sank. The store was packed, with a long queue snaking all the way outside. I couldn’t help but groan (叹息) hopelessly. A: the line inched forward, I kept checking the time, standing on tiptoe to look ahead, dizzy from hunger. I couldn’t understand my mother — why wouldn’t she just stay home and rest on a weekend? Spring outings were for kids!
Just then, someone behind me called softly, “Miss.”
I turned around, seeing a middle-aged woman I didn’t recognize. Annoyed, I asked impatiently, “What?”
Her smile was almost humble. “Look, I’m just one person behind you, but that means I’ll have to wait for another batch (一批). I’m buying this for my son — he’s going on a spring outing tomorrow. I still need to rush home to cook dinner and take him to his tutoring class. If you’re not in a hurry, I was wondering if...”
“Who are you buying for?” she asked.
Without hesitation, I answered, “For my mom. She’s going on a spring outing tomorrow.” For some reason, as soon as I said that, the entire bakery fell into silence. All eyes turned toward me.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Paragraph 1

Paragraph 2
The woman ahead of me turned around and asked me to go first.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】Paragraph 1
She asked loudly, “Who did you say you’re buying for?” I repeated, a bit nervously, “For my mom.” She looked at me with a mixture of surprise and admiration and said, “You’re such a good daughter. Your mom must be very happy.” At that moment, I felt a rush of shame. I realized that I had been so impatient and reluctant to do this small thing for my mother, while this woman was so eager to buy something for her son. I thought about how much my mother had done for me over the years, and how little I had given back.
Paragraph 2
The woman ahead of me turned around and asked me to go first. She said, “You should go ahead. Your mom is going on a spring outing too. It’s important.” I was touched by her kindness. I tried to refuse, but she insisted. So, I thanked her and moved to the front of the line. When I finally got the coconut bread, I held it tightly in my hands. I couldn’t wait to give it to my mother and tell her that I was sorry for my earlier attitude. I realized that even the smallest act of kindness for our parents can mean a lot to them.
