1. — A new park has just opened around our neighborhood. Have you heard about it?
— Yes. And I am going to take ________ walk with my granny there after ________ school.
A. a, the B. the, / C. a, /
固定短语take a walk意为“散步”,第一空需用不定冠词a;固定短语after school意为“放学后”,school前不加冠词。
2. — We’ll be separated in less than 100 days. I will miss you, dear.
— I feel ________ the same.
A. hardly B. exactly C. properly
3. — ________ does it take you to get to school by bike?
— About fifteen minutes.
A. How soon B. How far C. How long
How soon多久以后;How far多远;How long多长时间。根据答语“About fifteen minutes.” It takes sb. some time to do sth. How soon常用于询问多久以后,通常用“In+时间段”回答;How far用于询问距离。
4. —Oh, dear! A power (电源) cut.
—Sorry, I didn’t know you ________ the washing machine.
A. used B. were using C. are using
5. —Eddie ________ the cinema to watch the film Zootopia.
—Oh, that’s why I can’t find him now.
A. have been in B. has been to C. has gone to
have been in一直待在某地;has been to曾经去过某地;has gone to去了某地。根据答语“Oh, that’s why I can’t find him now.”
6. — ________ pale you look! Are you feeling all right?
— I’m not feeling well. I’ve got a toothache.
A. How a B. How C. What
How a错误结构;How多么;What多么。
7. — Sorry, I’ve forgotten your name. Can you ________ me?
— I’m Daniel.
A. remember B. remain C. remind
8. I know how busy you are and naturally I wouldn’t ________ too much of your time.
A. take off B. take up C. take down
take off起飞/脱下/离开;take up占据(时间、空间),开始学习/从事;take down记下/记录/拆除。
9. ——Mom, have you seen my toy bear?
——I don’t know ________ I have left it.
A. where B. how C. when
【答案】A
where哪里;how如何、怎样;when什么时候。
10. We’ll never forget the important people in our lives ________ helped and supported us — our parents, our teachers and our friends.
A. which B. who C. whom

weak(虚弱的)和tired(疲惫的)不合逻辑。

ran out(用完)和put out(扑灭)不符合。

When I was little, I was really little. But my dream was big. I dreamed of being a basketball player. I tried out for the teams at school, but I was never given a chance.
As I got older, I did grow a little bigger, but not a lot bigger. On my 12th birthday, I decided to try a new sport: running. I told Grandpa, “I’m going to be an athlete (运动员).”
“Dave,” Grandpa began gently, “if you can’t be big, you can do something big.”
I ran 12 miles on my 12th birthday. On my 13th birthday, I did it again, but I added another mile. On my 14th birthday, I ran 14 miles. 15 on my 15th, 16 on my 16th, and you guessed it-17 miles on my 17th birthday.
All this running inspired another big dream: Someday, I’d run the Boston Marathon I told Grandpa about my decision.
“But, Dave, you haven’t trained for the marathon. Are you sure you’re ready?” Grandpa asked. But he still promised to walk over and cheer me on.
I ran fast that day, but I fell at Mile 18 and was driven to the hospital. Later that night, I called Grandpa and told him I failed.
“No,” he said calmly, “you didn’t fail. You discovered something.”
“I did?” I asked.
“Yes, you discovered that big dreams don’t just come true. They take work. If you train and work hard, I promise to wait for you next year and cheer you on.”
I trained every day, running miles and miles. Sadly, just two months into my training, Grandpa died. He wouldn’t be waiting for my second Boston Marathon. I decided I’d run for him.
That day, I ran fast. “Keep going! You can do it!” His words filled my head as I forced my legs to make each painful step. As I crossed the finishing line, I threw my arms in the air and cried, “Grandpa, we did it!”
26. Dave failed to join the school basketball team because he was not big enough.
27. On Dave’s thirteenth birthday, he ran 12 miles again.
28. When Dave failed his first marathon, his Grandpa came to the hospital to encourage him in person.
29. Dave finished the Boston Marathon twice in total.

On my 12th birthday, I decided to try a new sport: running.”

Some people are worried about the effect (影响) that social media (社交媒体) has on the lives of young people. The following text was written by a reporter. He tried to find out whether social media has a positive (积极的) or negative (消极的) effect on children.
Social media websites are communities where users can share photos and talk to each other online. They are very popular—millions of people use social media every day. Although some people think social media is a positive thing, many are worried about the negative effects it can have on young people. James, a 15-year-old student, thinks that social media has many benefits. “I get very nervous when I talk to people in real life—I find it so much easier to express myself when I use social media. Another advantage is that I hardly ever forget anyone’s birthday now because I can look it up online!” Lots of users agree that social media helps young people stay connected to their friends and make new friends from around the world.
However, social media also has many problems. Social media may help young people find friends, but it also makes it easier for bullies (霸凌者) to hurt them. Some parents believe that social media makes it harder for families to spend time together. They say their children are so crazy about social media that they ignore (忽视) the rest of their family. Many teachers think social media can distract (使……分心) their students from schoolwork.
There is no doubt that social media has some problems, and it is very important to avoid spending too much time online. However, generally speaking, social media can be a positive thing for young people. It is a way for nervous people to make friends, and for young people to stay connected.

Citywalk is becoming a new travel fashion for the youth in China who are exploring (探索) cultural spots (景点). Unlike traditional travel, it aims (旨在) to avoid famous tourist spots and large crowds to get a better experience.
Many young people enjoy hanging out in the streets when they visit a new city. They can follow a typical city route (路线), exploring old buildings, going window-shopping, drinking a cup of coffee, or enjoying local snacks.
In order to show their Citywalk, more and more people prefer to share their experiences and thoughts through social media Xiao Yiyi, a young guide in Changsha, recently shared six Citywalk routes of different cities on the Internet, providing experiences for visitors to “walk in open-air museums”. Her Changsha travel route includes more unusual spots such as historical buildings, old streets, and even some snack bars.
Citywalk is spreading from the largest cities to smaller ones, encouraging more travelers and event organizers to join. Some places, such as Beijing and Shandong, have included Citywalk in their plans to develop cultural tourism and relaxing tours. Shanghai has set up Citywalk bus routes to help day-trippers (一日游游客) reach more faraway areas first, and then continue on foot.
Citywalk not only offers a way for young people to explore a city but also provides them with a new social situation, where they can share their interests and ideas and make friends easily. Forty-eight hours in Hong Kong may sound like a short trip, but it will surprise you how much you can see and do. The best way to get the most out of your trip is to plan carefully ahead of time.
Hong Kong has a great public transportation system that is easy to use. The system is called the MTR, which includes the metro (地铁), trains and buses. You can get a card called the Octopus (八达通) Card at a metro station and use it to travel around. Taxis are another way to get around Hong Kong. There are many taxis everywhere.
On the first day, go up Victoria Peak At the top of the mountain, you will see beautiful city views. Then have “dim sum (点心)” for lunch. Dim sum is made up of many different dishes. It is a great way to taste a little bit of everything. In the afternoon, take the Star Ferry (天星小轮) from Hong Kong Island and cross Victoria Harbor (维多利亚港) to Kowloon (九龙). There are many markets to explore in this area. Temple Street Night Market and Ladies Market are very popular. At 8:00 p.m., join the crowd that is watching the Symphony of Lights (幻彩咏香江), which is a fifteen-minute light show around Hong Kong’s tall buildings.
On the second day, spend your time shopping at one of Hong Kong’s many malls, such as IFC or Times Square. You can also shop at smaller stores in Soho (苏豪) and Sheung Wan (上环) as well. Unlike the markets, the prices are set (固定的), so you cannot change them. After shopping, if you want to experience Hong Kong’s nightlife, go to Lan Kwai Fong (兰桂坊). If not, go back to your hotel for a good night’s rest.
With careful planning, you can do a lot in just two days in Hong Kong.

28. When Dave failed his first marathon, his Grandpa came to the hospital to encourage him in person.
29. Dave finished the Boston Marathon twice in total.
30. Dave’s success in the Marathon was a result of both his strong will and hard training.

Seeing how ____64____ (interest) they were in Chinese tea, Ms. Wu started a weekly activity called “Tea Culture Saturdays”. She showed foreigners ____65____ to brew tea with traditional methods—from choosing the water temperature to ____66____ (follow) tea-making rules. Her daughter Lily, a college student, helped translate.
Soon, her tea house was always crowded with ____67____ (visit), including students and business people from many places. “I used to think foreigners wouldn’t understand our tea culture, though they love it deeply. Some of them even treat their friends ____68____ Chinese tea at home,” Ms. Wu said.
One of her favourite moments was when Sarah, a Canadian, gave her a notebook that was filled with tea notes ____69____ (write) in both English and Chinese. “This is why I have kept teaching,” Ms. Wu said, showing ____70____ valuable notebook.
Now, her tea house appears in travel guides as “Suzhou’s cultural living room”. For tourists, every cup of tea served is a window on the tea culture of this ancient city.
