Passage 1
(2025·辽宁·中考真题)阅读下面的材料,根据内容回答问题。
The new school year is coming. Who will be your new classmates? Will you sit alone or in pairs? In fact, there are many different classroom seating arrangements (排列). Let’s take a look at some of them.
Traditional Seating
Students sit alone in rows. This seating arrangement helps students listen to the teacher carefully. But it is not convenient for students to have discussions in class.
Paired Seating
Two desks are put together. Students sit side by side. Sitting in pairs allows students to discuss and cooperate with their deskmates (同桌).However, some students can’t focus on their lessons because they may chat with their deskmates.
Group Seating
Students sit in small groups, facing each other. This arrangement is great for either large classes or small classrooms. It is good for group discussions and cooperation. But there is a problem. When students are doing group work, some of them may sit back and leave others to find a way out.
U-Shape Seating
Desks are placed in a U-shape. This kind of seating creates an open space in the middle. The teacher has enough space to move around. However, it takes up more classroom space.
Every coin has two sides. Every seating arrangement has its own advantages and disadvantages.
1.How do students sit in traditional seating?
2.What is the disadvantage of U-shape seating?
3.Which of the seating arrangements help students cooperate with each other?
4.Which seating arrangement do you like best? Give your reason (s). Write 30 words or more.
Passage 2
(2024·辽宁·中考真题)阅读短文,然后根据内容回答问题。
Cooperation comes from friendship, friendship comes from trust, and trust comes from kindness. It’s easy to tell that kindness is very important. What is kindness then? To be exact, kindness is the quality of being friendly. If we give up our seats on the bus, help a classmate solve a math problem, or welcome a new member into a group activity, we are showing kindness. Actually, these acts are done without expectation of reward (回报).
We begin to realise that while helping others, we’re in fact helping ourselves. Showing kindness benefits us in different ways. It helps us know about ourselves. It develops our problem-solving skills. It also gives us the chance to be thankful.
We can never imagine the power of one simple act of kindness. It may change our day. And that day may change our week. That week may change the rest of the year—or even our whole life.
In short, we rise by lifting others.
Here are some teenagers’ acts of kindness.
Linda: I sat next to a new student at lunch. I was pleased because I made her day.
Kayla: In order to raise money and protect wild animals, I held a singing competition. Iwas proud of it.
Peter: I opened the door for an old lady. I felt happy because I could help other people.
1.What is kindness according to the text?
2.List two benefits of showing kindness.
3.What did Linda do to show her kindness?
4.What do you think of Peter’s act of kindness? Write 30 words or more.
Passage 3
(2025·辽宁抚顺·模拟预测)阅读短文,然后根据内容回答问题。
One sunny morning, the sky was full of dark grey clouds. Big raindrops started falling from the sky. The heavy rain lasted for hours, and the ground became wet and shiny.
In a quiet corner, a little brown spider was busy. Its tiny legs moved quickly as it tried to climb up the wet and slippery (湿滑的) wall. The cold wind blew, making the spider slip again and again. “I must fix my broken web!” the spider thought. Even though it fell down many times, it never stopped trying.
Mr. Brown walked by. He carried an umbrella and wore a red coat. Looking at the spider, he shook his head sadly. “This reminds me of myself,” he whispered (低语). “I work in the garden every day, but my vegetables don’t grow well.” His eyes looked worried. He wondered, “Why does everything go wrong?”
Later, a little boy named Tim came running. He had just finished playing football. He said, pointing at the wall. “This spider is so silly! Why doesn’t it find a dry place to start climbing?” Tim always wanted things to be easy. After that, he always tried to find the easiest way to do things.
But then came Ms. Green, the kind teacher. She stopped to watch the spider carefully. “Oh, how brave!” she smiled. The spider’s legs shone in the sunlight as it kept climbing higher. “If it can try again and again, I can too!” she thought.
Different people have different ideas. So what do you think of different attitudes (态度) according to the story?
1.What was the spider trying to do?
2.How did the spider’s actions make Mr. Brown feel?
3.Why did Ms. Green think the spider was brave?
4.What does the story want to tell us? (Write 30 words or more.)

Thanks to a blockbuster movie, many foreigners now know and love a mythical (神话的) Chinese hero! The movie Ne Zha: Demon Child Conquers the Sea (《哪吒之魔童闹海》), also known as Ne Zha 2, has become very popular in China and around the world. By Feb 18, it had made an amazing 12.35 billion yuan at the box office, becoming the world’s highest-grossing (票房最高的) animated film of all time.
The story of the movie comes from Chinese mythology. It follows Ne Zha and his friend Ao Bing, who have special powers. They work together to stop a plan that puts their families and the Dragon Tribe (族) in danger.
People all over the world love the movie’s story and exciting action scenes. Max from Russia said online, “The scene showing the monsters (妖怪) in the sea attacking (袭击) Chen Tang Guan is really amazing.” Rachel from the US told Cover News, “What I learned from the movie is that power is not just about being strong, but also about the will to never give up.”
However, some people from other countries are confused (困惑的) about parts of the movie that connect to Chinese mythology. They ask questions about why Ne Zha’s master rides a pig and what “Heavenly Tribulation (天劫)” means.
Although these questions have led to confusion, some foreigners have called the movie “the Chinese version of Marvel”, seeing Ne Zha as a superhero from a Western way of thinking. Many have started to learn more about Chinese mythology. Ne Zha is like an ambassador (大使) bringing Chinese culture to the world!
1.What is the movie Ne Zha 2 mainly about?
2.What do people like the movie about?
3.How can foreigners understand the movie better?
4.Do you like the movie? Why or why not? (List at least two reasons and write more than 30words)

Mars, Robots, Higher Prices and More
What will the world look like in 2045? I recently spoke with four American students, Caden Sorensen, Chandler Stark, Fatima Abdi and Noelani Velasco Polley, to get their thoughts on this question.
In 2045, the kids think, humans will be able to live on Mars. They suggest that everyone should spend a few years on the red planet to give the Earth a “rest”. “And when we come back, we must try not to pollute as much,” says Stark.
But Mars is not yet ready for human habitation (居住). The kids agree that immediate action must be taken to clean up the Earth. “It’s time to fix it now,” says Sorensen. “It’s not going to fix itself.”
The kids do not just care about progress in space exploration. They are also interested in the future jobs.
Stark hopes to compose (创作) music for TV shows one day. Abdi wants to be a business owner. Sorensen dreams about becoming a lawyer. Polley wants to be a scientist.
“I don’ t think there will be a lot of fast-food jobs,” said Abdi. She also thinks that everything is going to get a lot more expensive. “People will have to look for higher-paying jobs.”
Many jobs, the kids predict (预测), will be replaced by robots. “There’ll be no more factory jobs because robots can just do everything,” says Stark. But they believe the power to shape the future is in human hands. The world will be a better place, but of course, “we need to work hard, and we all need to learn to be kind to others.”
1.In the kids’opinion, where will humans be able to live in 2045?
2.What is Sorensen’s idea about the Earth?
3.Why does Stark say there will be no more factory jobs?
4.What do you think the world will look like in 2045? Write 30 words or more.

(2025·辽宁沈阳·模拟预测)阅读短文,根据内容回答问题。
John Hopfield, 91 years old, has received the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics. Hopfield, professor at Princeton University, shares the award with Geoffrey Hinton of the University of Toronto for their work in training artificial neural networks (人工神经网络).
As the Nobel organization said, they “have used tools from Physics to develop methods that are necessary for today’s machine learning”. Hopfield was mentioned especially for inventing a “Hopfield network” based on Physics.
Hinton, 76, used Hopfield’s network to create a different one, known as the Boltzmann machine. The two AI pioneers will share the award of about 1 million dollars.
Hopfield’s long career has included work at Bell Labs and the California Institute of Technology, as well as more than 25 years at Princeton.
“An important idea in Physics is that the world can be understood. You can take anything apart and understand the relationships between its different parts. Physics shows us that with hard work and creativity, we can understand the world around us in a scientific way. Being a physicist is a way to go after this kind of understanding,” Hopfield said.
1.Who shared the award of 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics with Hopfield?
2.What did John Hopfield invent based on Physics?
3.How long did Hopfield work at Princeton?
4.Which subject do you think is as important as physics? Write 30 words or more.
Passage 7
(2025·辽宁沈阳·模拟预测)阅读短文,然后根据内容回答问题。
①There are many humanistic monuments (人文古迹) and natural scenic spots (景点) in textbooks. Children are always interested in them, and they want to go there in person. That’s why the textbook tour has become popular these days.
②Many families have taken part in the textbook tour. They follow the stories in the textbooks and choose places to travel. Children can understand the cultural background and experience the historical period in the textbooks. They can also learn about the local customs. This makes their journey more colorful.
③The textbook tour is a connection between “reading thousands of books” and “travelling thousands of miles”. Through the practice, children can have a deeper understanding of the textbooks. Besides, the textbook tour also increases children’s pride in the motherland.
④The rise of the textbook tour is a great chance for the connection between culture and tourism. For example, the Wenchuan government holds some activities on the birthday of Dayu. Cultural workers teach “Dayu culture” to tourists in these activities. This spreads local culture and provides an unforgettable experience for tourists. As the textbook tour becomes a new fashion, the government should offer warm services to achieve a win-win situation for both scenic spots and tourists.
1.How do many families go on the textbook tour?
2.List one benefit that children can get from the textbook tour according to Paragraph 3.
3.What should the government do to support the textbook tour?
4.If you have a textbook tour, which place in your textbooks will you visit except Wenchuan? Why? Write 30 words or more.

Pickleball (匹克球), a relaxing sport that has been around since the 1960s, is becoming popular in China. Young people are growing especially interested in the game.
“Pickleball has been played not only in big cities, such as Beijing and Shanghai, but also in smaller cities,” said Zeng Guobiao, director of the China Liaison Office of the International Pickleball Federation (国际匹克球联合会驻中国联络办公室). “Young people in Anhui, Shandong, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Hubei, Guizhou and Yunnan Provinces are also interested in the sport and setting up clubs,” he added.
The sport of pickleball, invented in 1965 in the US, is a game in which two or four players hit a wifile-ball (空心棒球) over a net. It looks like tennis but is played on a badminton court (球场). The rules of the game are simple with little running needed, making it easy to start for players of all ages and skill levels.
Zhou Minghao, who works in Chongqing, started to play pickleball in May. “As a sports lover, I have tried many sports and got several major injuries (重伤), so I decided to play pickleball, which is safe,” he said.
Besides safety, Zhang Xin, who started the Chengdu PANG Pickleball Club, said that, like badminton, the sport of pickleball is fun and competitive (竞技性的). “It’s a sport for anyone, anywhere and anytime,” he said.
Wu Xiaomeng from Chongqing agrees. He happened to learn about pickleball and tried it out with some friends in September, 2022. “It is a game for both men and women, as it requires more skills than physical power (体力),” he said. “It is a good social activity as anyone can easily pick up this sport and play it for fun. I believe this sport can go far in China.”
1.How long has pickleball been around?
2.Why is pickleball easy for players of all ages and skill levels?
3.What does Zhang Xin think of the sport of pickleball?
4.Will you choose this sport to play? Why or why not? (Write 30 words or more.)

“May we all be blessed with longevity. Though miles apart, we are still able to share the beauty of the moon together (但愿人长久, 千里共婵娟) .” wrote Su Shi, a poet during the Song Dynasty, in his well-known poem to his younger brother Su Zhe.
The moon is at its brightest on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar (阴历) . On this day, people celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival. It has been enjoying great popularity all over the country.
In ancient China, that day was a harvest (收获) festival because crops (庄稼) were harvested during that period. It was a time for relaxation and celebration.
Just like Thanksgiving in Western countries, families also try to get together for the Mid-Autumn Festival in China. Usually, no matter how far away or how busy they are, people will try to return home for the celebration.
The Mid-Autumn Festival has its own special food, just as other traditional Chinese holidays.People eat moon cakes with fillings such as sugar and eggs. The round shape of the cake makes it look like the full moon. The full moon and moon cakes stand for family reunion (团聚) .
With the beautiful moon up in the sky, people sit together, enjoy the full moon, eat moon cakes and fruit, share the stories, and express the best wishes for the family members and friends who live afar.

(25-26九年级下·辽宁鞍山·月考)请认真阅读下面短文,并根据短文内容回答问题或完成任务。
The Super Power of YET!
In today’s world, many people want quick success, but real growth takes time and the right mindset. Mindset is how we think about our abilities. It plays a big role in our progress. There are two kinds of mindsets: a fixed mindset and a growth mindset.
Carol Dweck, a professor at Stanford University, studied these two mindsets:
Growth Mindset:People believe they can improve with effort and learning.
Fixed Mindset:People believe their abilities are unchangeable.
She has found that having a growth mindset benefits our learning a lot.
Learning happens in four stages:
Growth Zone: They achieve their goals and take on bigger ones.
Learning Zone: They start getting new skills and confidence.
Fear Zone: People feel unsure or afraid of failure and often give up.
Comfort Zone: Things feel easy, but no growth happens here.
One of her experiments is at Parkland Soccer Club. Her group teaches the players that mistakes are part of learning. If a player says, “I can’t do this,” that usually means he fears making mistakes. Then he is encouraged to say “I can’t do this, YET!” instead of “I can’t do this!”
Challenges are necessary for growth. Let’s believe in ourselves, work hard, and keep improving. The superpower is “YET!”
1.What does “mindset” mean?
2.What are the two kinds of mindsets?
3.If a soccer player is afraid of making mistakes during a game, which “zone” is he in?
4.Which zone do you think is the most important? Why? (30 words or more)
Passage 4
(25-26九年级下·辽宁葫芦岛·月考)阅读文本,然后根据内容回答问题。
How long does it take a reader to get a book after placing an order in a library of over 8 million? The answer from a new library in the east of Beijing is less than 15 minutes.
Beijing Library has become a popular place since it opened in December, 2023. It received over 80,000 visits during the three-day New Year holiday. Book lovers are attracted not only by the library’s building design, which looks like a reading space under big ginkgo (银杏) trees, but also by its huge collection of books and smart services.
Covering some 75,000m2, Beijing Library houses over 8 million books. The towering stacks (书库) on the library’s basement floor help store its big amount of books. They are part of the largest single automated storage (自动化仓库) and retrieval system (检索系统), also known as AS/RS, for books in China.
The stacks have a total storage area of less than 3,000m2, yet they can store over 7 million books because of their special design. In addition to the stacks, the smart system includes various types of smart equipment like robots, which enable book delivery.
Beijing Library is not alone in using AS/RS. The Suzhou No. 2 Library, which opened in late 2019, was the first Chinese library to use it. “Because more local governments place enriching cultural life high on their work lists, we are seeing more public libraries introduce the AS/RS,” says Shi Qi, the manager of the AS/RS business unit.
To make borrowing books easier, visitors to Beijing Library can sign up for a borrowing service with facial recognition (面部识别) and other technologies. A digital guide at the library’s entrance also offers interactions with visitors if needed.
Readers who don’t want to travel to the library can use the online borrowing service, which will deliver the book to their doorstep. The library’s online borrowing service is open to readers not only in Beijing but also in neighbouring Tianjin and Hebei Province.
“It’s quite a refreshing experience to visit the library,” says a middle school student. “The books here enrich your mind, and some of the smart services here can blow your mind.”
1.When did Beijing Library open?
2.How many books are there in Beijing Library?
3.According to Shi Qi, why are we seeing more public libraries introduce the AS/RS?
4.What do you think about Beijing Library? Why do you think so? Write 30 words or more.

A Farewell SongNo dust is raised on the road wet with morning rain;
The willows by the hotel look so fresh and green.
I invite you to drink a cup of wine again;
West of the Sunny Pass no more friends will be seen.
(Translated by Xu Yuanchong)
Time flies, and you will soon graduate from junior high school. It might be a little sad to say goodbye to your teachers and classmates. This same feeling was shared more than 1,000 years ago, when the Tang Dynasty poet Wang Wei (701—761) had to say goodbye to his friend Yuan Er.
The poem begins with a beautiful morning scene. After the rain, the road is clean and free of dust, and the willows by the hotel are fresh and green. On that day’s morning, Yuan Er is leaving for a faraway place called Anxi (in today’s Xinjiang). The last two lines are the most well-known. The poet invites Yuan to drink wine because he knows that life in Anxi will be tough. Most cities in China were prosperous (繁华的) during the Tang dynasty (618—907), but the western areas were quite desolate (荒凉的). Wang thinks the journey to the west will be full of hardship. So when Wang says “I invite you to drink a cup of wine again”, he is pouring both his care and good wishes into the cup. This sincere love for his friend made this poem popular back then and it remains popular today.
1.Who wrote the poem “A Farewell Song”?
2.Which word in the poem rhymes with “green”?
3.What will the journey to the west be like?
4.What do you think of the poem? Write 30 words or more.

(25-26九年级下·辽宁沈阳·开学考试)阅读下面的材料,根据内容回答问题。
The Great “King of the Forest”
Did you know? The Amur tiger (东北虎), called the “King of the Forest”, is the biggest kind of tiger alive today. An adult Amur tiger can be more than 3 meters long and weigh as much as 300 kilograms. It walks like a strong leader, but this “king” almost went away not long ago. Luckily, things are getting better now.
Now, there are about 600 wild Amur tigers around the world. Most of them live in the place where China and Russia meet. In the past, people cut down too many trees. They also killed tigers against the rules. Because of this, fewer tigers were left. To keep them safe, China made a special park for them. It also closed some places where people dug for rocks. These places hurt the land around the tigers. China closed big water machines too, because these machines changed the area where the tigers lived. Workers who look after the forest walked through the mountains. They did this to take away the traps that hunters set for the tigers. Russia has said “no” to killing Amur tigers since 1952.When baby tigers get hurt, Russia helps them get well. Then it sends these baby tigers back to the forest.
Now, more Amur tigers are living in the wild and we can even see them on special cameras! But there are still problems. The forests are broken into small parts. Because of this, the tigers don’t have much room to move. Also, people still try to kill them sometimes. As middle school students, we can learn about these tigers. Every little thing we do can help save the “King of the Forest”!
1.How long can an adult Amur tiger be?
2.When did Russia start to stop people from hunting Amur tigers?
3.Why don’t the tigers have much room to move?
4.As middle school students, what can we do to protect endangered wild animals? Write 30 words or more.

During the race, they meet many problems: the car breaks down, and they are hit by other racers. But Zhang Chi never gives up. Recycling is good for the environment. It can also do good to a community in surprising ways. Brian, a 15-year-old boy, knows this well. In 2020, he started a community recycling program to offer help to the football clubs in his hometown, Wyre. It now has 3,000 participants (参与者).
When Brian was 11, he played football with Fleetwood Town F.C. The club was new and needed money to travel to Premier League. Brian came up with a plan. “There are bottles always thrown around the road,” he said. In Wyre, these can be collected for money. With his father’s help, Brian started a bottle drive. Since then, Brian’s recycling effort has raised 35,000 pounds and helped at least 20 local youth groups. It has also stopped more than 200,000 bottles from littering the roadside and polluting Wyre’s lakes and rivers. “It’s kept our community a lot cleaner,” Brian says.

【答案】1.Students sit alone in rows.
2.It takes up more classroom space.
3.Paired seating and group seating.
4.I prefer group seating because it encourages teamwork and active participation. Students can share ideas easily during discussions, which helps improve communication skills. Although some may rely on others, teachers can guide them to take responsibility. This arrangement creates a lively learning environment where everyone contributes.

Passage 5
(2025·辽宁大连·模拟预测)阅读短文,然后根据内容回答问题。

Passage 3
Why? (30 words or more)
【答案】1.It is how we think about our abilities.
2.A fixed mindset and a growth mindset.
3.He is in the Fear Zone.
4.I think the Learning Zone is the most important. Because it is the stage where we gain new skills and build confidence, which is the foundation for us to enter the Growth Zone and achieve bigger goals. It bridges the comfort zone and growth, helping us make real progress step by step.

A Farewell SongNo dust is raised on the road wet with morning rain;
The willows by the hotel look so fresh and green.
I invite you to drink a cup of wine again;

Passage 6

2.When did Russia start to stop people from hunting Amur tigers?
3.Why don’t the tigers have much room to move?

Finally, we can also support conservation organizations by donating money or volunteering our time to help protect these precious animals.
