B A man from British has learned skills needed to perform Beijing Opera, making the audience enjoy his lively performance of the Monkey King. Ghaffar Pourazar said he has been a big fan of Bruce Lee since he was a child and is full of interest about China. In 1993, he happened to watch Beijing Opera performed in London by professionals from Jingyu Theatre Company of Beijing. Ghaffar said he fell in love with the beautiful voices, colorful costumes, excellent shows and so on. So after one year, he arrived in China alone and became a student of Beijing Opera at a Beijing school. At the age of 32, he had to learn with teenage students everyday, starting from the most basic training of the legs and waist. At the time, he was mostly troubled by the dialogue in Beijing Opera. To him, it was the biggest obstacle, but he never gave up. Four years later, he began to learn to perform the Monkey King, a traditional character from the Chinese classic story Journey to the West. He said he arrived at the workroom an hour earlier than other performers and also bought books and CDs to better understand the character. Ghaffar today is not only good at speaking Beijing dialect (方言), but has also built fame for Beijing Opera. He once got a top international prize for performing the Monkey King. To help more people enjoy Beijing Opera, Ghaffar often teaches the traditional art form in schools in the United States, Britain and other countries. When he found that the language was difficult to understand, he started to translate Beijing Opera story lyrics. He led a group of actors to perform 66 times in a month and a half in the United States. He also led a 48-member team to perform in Malaysia. In the past ten years, he has performed in more than 400 shows. 4. What did Ghaffar begin to do in the year of 1994? A. He became a fan of Bruce Lee. B. He took an interest in Beijing Opera. C. He learn Beijing Opera in Beijing. D. He acted the part of the Monkey King. 5. From Paragraph 4, we can see _________. A. Monkey King is not easy to perform. B. He practised harder than other performers. C. He didn’t understand the Monkey King well enough. D. He loved the Chinese classic story Journey to the West. 6. What can be inferred from the passage about Ghaffar? A. He is a successful team leader. B. He translated Beijing Opera story for a living. C. He teaches Beijing Opera for fun in many schools. D. He has made huge contributions to spreading Beijing Opera. 7. Which section of a newspaper is the passage most likely to come from? A. Culture B. Sports C. Business D. Education C It’s easy to keep your aging brain as quick as it was in college. Use a website full of brain games or download the right apps, and within 20 minutes you’ll be doing your part to sharpen your memory and slow the decline of your mental functions. At least that’s what the companies behind this booming industry would have you believe. But is it true? Concrete proof about the benefits of brain games is hard to come by, experts say, when it comes to measurably improving aspects of mental fitness, like having a good memory. “People would really love to believe they could do something like this and make their brain better, but there’s just no solid evidence,” says Randall W. Engle, a primary investigator at the Attention & Working Memory Lab at the Georgia Institute of Technology. That’s not to say brain games are without benefits. Experts say these kinds of mental exercises can change your brain. The brain changes with just about everything you do, including mental training exercises. But numerous studies have shown that brain games lack what researchers call “transfer”. In other words, repeating a game over and over again teaches you how to play the game and get better at it but your brain aging won’t necessarily come to a stop. “It’s like, you walk through fresh snow, and you leave a trace. If you walk the same route again, the trace gets deeper and deeper,” says Ursula Staudinger, director of the Butler Columbia Aging Center at Columbia University. The fact that structural changes occur does not imply that in general this brain has become more capable. It has become more capable of doing exactly the tasks it was practicing. 8. What does the writer intend to do in the first paragraph? A. To introduce a new theory. B. To promote a new app. C. To question an idea. D. To correct a mistake. 9. What does Engle think of the functions of brain games? A. Their effects still need proving. B. They have little practical effects. C. They really make some difference. D. They are bound to benefit brain health. 10. The underlined word in paragraph 3 most probably refers to “the ability to ________”. A. stop the brain aging B. keep the brain functioning C. speed up the brain aging D. improve gaming skills 11. Which can be the best title of the passage? A. Games Prevent Brain from Turning Slow B. How to Slow the Decline of Brain Functions C. Stop Brain aging? Games’ Roles Need Proving D. Brain Games A Boost to Your Mental Fitness D Artificial Intelligence (AI) has greatly sped up how long it takes to sort, label and analyze (分析) animal sounds — as well as to figure out which aspects of those sounds might carry meaning. One day we’ll be able to use AI to build a chat box that translates complex (复杂的) animal sounds into human language. Project CETI is just one organization working toward this goal. “AI could eventually get us to the point where we understand animals, but that’s hard to deal with and long-term,” says Karen Bakker, a researcher at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. “Some species have been on the planet longer than humans. Some species could go extinct before we figure out their language,” Bakker adds. “Besides, the idea of walking around with an animal translator may seem cool, but many animals might not be interested in chatting.” “Why would a bat want to speak to you?” she asks. What interests her is what we can learn from how bats and other creatures talk amongst each other. “We should listen to nature and ask the animals’ requirements in order to better protect them,” she argues. For example, a system set up to record whales or elephants can also track their locations. This can help our boats avoid whales or protect elephants from poachers (偷猎者). Protection is one goal driving Project CETI. “If we understand sperm whales better, we will be better at understanding what’s troubling them,” says Gašper Beguš, a linguist at the University of California, Berkeley. Learning that a species has something very similar to language or culture could also inspire people to work harder to protect it. When we protect an animal that has some version of language or culture, we’re not simply protecting nature and we’re also saving a way of life. Marine biologist Denise Herzing says that animals are supposed to have a healthy environment so that their cultures can develop well. 12. What can we infer from the first paragraph? A. We will find ways to talk with animals. B. We can share our language with animals. C. We can tell the complex animal behavior. D. We need conduct more research on animals. 13. What does Bakker think of fully understanding animals’ language? A. Costly. B. Difficult. C. Harmful. D. Worthless. 14. How can we protect the animals effectively according to paragraph 3? A. By learning about their needs. B. By setting up shelters for them. C. By mapping out their locations. D. By living peacefully with them. 15. Which statement would Herzing probably agree with? A. Protecting nature means saving ourselves. B. Animal translators should be created for protection. C. Animals’ culture requires a healthy natural world to develop. D. Short-term and long-term goals for conservation need to be set. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Grocery shopping is something everyone has to do. Growing up in Kolkata, I studied at a government-aided secondary school. Though English was part of the curriculum, it never felt important. I could pass exams with minimal effort, so I never took it seriously. That changed the moment I began my first term of engineering. All the lectures were in English. I sat in class, trying to grasp what the professors were saying, but all my efforts were fruitless. I couldn’t follow the lessons, ask questions, or join in discussions. Outside the classroom, things were no better. My classmates quickly realized I struggled with English. Some laughed at me, while others simply ignored me. Slowly, I backed off. I avoided group outings and kept to myself for fear that I’d embarrass myself if I spoke. At the end of the term, I failed almost every subject. I stared at my school report in silence. My chest felt heavy, but I knew I had two choices— either giving up or fighting back. I chose the latter. I started small. I read English newspapers daily, carried an English dictionary in my backpack, and watched English videos with subtitles (字幕). Bit by bit, I improved. By the second term,I could finally understand lectures. But speaking was still a challenge. No matter how much I tried, I couldn’t express myself fluently. By my final year, I had gained knowledge in my field but still failed in every campus interview — always rejected in the communication round. My parents were disappointed. My brother thought I hadn’t worked hard enough. I was stuck in a sense of helplessness. Then, one day, my cousin visited. He asked what was wrong and listened patiently. “You’ve done your part,” he said. “Now let someone help you.” He advised me to attend a spoken English class. I was hesitant. What if people found out? What if I failed again? 注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Still, I signed up for the class. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A month later, I stood before an employer, nervous but prepared. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 宁夏六盘山高级中学 2025-2026学年第二学期高一第一次月考测试卷 A卷 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 注意,听力部分答题时请先将答案标在试卷上,听力部分结束前你将有两分钟的时间将答案转涂到答题卡上。 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话,每段对话仅读一遍。 1. The classroom was filled with people who were eager to improve their spoken English, just like me. The teacher was very kind and patient. She taught us how to pronounce words correctly and how to use common expressions in daily conversations. I found that I enjoyed the class, where I could practice speaking without worrying about being laughed at. I knew that this was my chance to turn things around, and I was determined to make the most of it. A month later, I stood before an employer, nervous but prepared. The interview was in English, which used to be my biggest fear. However, now I felt more confident. The employer seemed impressed by my performance. When he told me that I had passed the interview, I couldn’t believe my ears. All the hard work and effort had finally paid off. I realized that with determination and the right help, I could overcome any challenge that came my way. 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
