Why AI has not taken your job
Almost every week the world takes another step in the direction of artificial general intelligence. In cities such as London and San Francisco, “How long do you reckon you have left in your job?” is a common topic of conversation. But is ChatGPT actually putting anyone out of work?
Lots of experts claim that it is. Many point to a recent paper by Carl Benedikt Frey and Pedro Llanos-Paredes, both of the University of Oxford, 21 suggests a link between automation and declining demand for translators. At the same time, however, official American data suggest that the number of people employed in interpretation, translation and the like 22 (be) 7% higher than a year ago. 23 point to Klarna, a tech firm, which had boasted about using the tech to automate customer service. But the company is now undertaking an about-turn. “There will always be a human if you want,” its boss, has recently said.
Others still search through economic data to find signs that AI 24 cause many people to lose their jobs in the future. One popular measure is the ratio of the unemployment rate between recent college graduates and the overall American average. Young graduates are now 25 (likely) than the average worker to be jobless. The explanation runs that they typically do entry-level jobs in knowledge-intensive industries- 26 making slides in a management consultancy. It is exactly this sort of task that AI can do well. So maybe the technology has eliminated these jobs?
Well, no. The data simply do not line up 27 any possible mechanism. Young graduates’ “relative unemployment” started to rise in 2009, long before generative AI came along. And their actual unemployment rate, at around 6%, remains low. We examine American data on employment by occupation, singling out workers that are believed to be vulnerable to AI, including people in back-office support, financial operations and much more besides. There is a similar pattern here: we find no evidence of an AI hit.
There are two 28 (compete) explanations for these trends. The first is that, 29 the endless announcements about how firms are integrating AI into their operations, few make much use of the technology for serious work. An official measure suggests that less than 10% of American companies employ it to produce goods and services. The second is that even when companies do adopt the tech, they do not let people go. AI may simply help workers do their jobs faster. 30 the explanation, for now there is no need to panic.

Do I Need to Parent My Only Child in a Different Way?
Q: I have an only child, and people often comment about them being at risk of becoming spoiled, selfish, or unable to socialize. Now I’m worrying about how I can make sure I am raising my child in the right way.
A: Firstly, I want to say I am deeply sorry that anyone would make such comments. These ideas about “who” your child may be are ____31____ of that person’s anxieties and discomfort, and are sadly ignorant.
British concerns about only children’s social development emerged in 1850, linking their ____32____ spoiling to insufficient peer interaction and extremely high adult contact throughout the 19th-20th centuries. Recent research has ____33____ these assumptions and shown there are no significant differences between children who have siblings (兄弟姐妹) and those who don’t. In fact, some studies report that only children may be more confident, emotionally strong, and have a better quality of life. But these findings cannot be ____34____ from the context of most of this research taking place within middle-class families. What we can say with ____35____ is that only children are much more like other children (who have siblings) than they are different.
The truth is, it’s not the number of siblings a child has that ____36____ them into the adult they become. Their relationship with their parents actually has the greatest influence on their development. So, if you want to raise your child well, keep focusing on the relationship you are ____37____ with them, and get curious about who they are and what they are trying to communicate and express. Learn to accept your mistakes as a parent and offer your child repair when you get things wrong. Parenting is messy, and ____38____ your child right is going to look different for everyone, but at the____39____ of everything you do is love for your child. Love, however, is ____40____ , so let go of the pressure to get it “right” or to parent your child differently because they don’t have siblings and, instead, enjoy the parenting journey with them.
III.Reading Comprehension (共45分。 41-45每题1分;56-70每题2分)
Section A
Directions: For each blank in the following passage there are four words or phrases marked A. B.C and D. Fill in each blank with the word or phrase that best fits the context
Most of us sometimes fail to practice what we speak. That’s a solid definition of hypocrisy. While we’re ____41____ to spot this moral inconsistency in others, we have a hard time recognizing it in ourselves. And studies show that the people we most like to label as hypocrites are our enemies — surprise! — and others who we think aren’t like us.
We’re motivated to see other people as hypocritical because it helps us win arguments, but we tend to ____42____ our own inconsistency. We’re often annoyed by other people’s hypocrisy because it seems ____43____. We think that they are ____44____ implying to others that they are better than they actually are.
Nobody likes being a hypocrite. Yet, ____45____ it’s impossible to always act consistently, because different situations may require different responses. Take parenting, for example. You may reasonably lecture your teenager on the dangers of drinking too much, yet you did exactly that on occasion when you were in college. A college student who doesn’t eat meat because she loves animals admitted that she sometimes wore “cute” ____46____ shoes.
Since we’re able to so easily spot hypocrisy in others, how can we become better at spotting and ____47____ it in ourselves?
To start with, we can ____48____ that it is normal to be inconsistent sometimes. And remember that hypocrisy is just one ____49____ for the behavior. Daniel Effron, a professor who has studied hypocrisy, ____50____ labeling other people as hypocrites. “It can stop you from ____51____ the substance of their argument,” he says.
It also takes some ____52____ to identify our own hypocrisy. Ask yourself: “Am I behaving in a way that is consistent with the views I am ____53____?” If you do decide that you’re being hypocritical, admit it. Research shows that when people are ____54____ their own hypocrisy, others tend to forgive them for not being consistent.
And here’s some good news: People who notice their own hypocritical behavior often are motivated to change because the ____55____ of advocating for something but not actually doing it makes people very uncomfortable. Rather than feeling ashamed about our hypocrisy, we should welcome the opportunity to learn to do better next time.

As a boy I was always small for my age. I was also five years younger than one of my brothers and seven years younger than the other. As a result I often felt left out when their friends came over to play. I was either too small or too young for whatever they were doing and they didn’t want me to listen to their conventions, either. More often than not I found myself outside playing alone and feeling forgotten.
I remember one spring afternoon feeling especially lonely as I sat in the yard behind our house. We lived miles from town and I rarely saw my own friends outside of school. I heard my brothers laughing from inside the house and felt tears coming down my cheek. At that moment I saw a large brown dog walking over to me. He looked happy and his tail was wagging as well. Even though he didn’t know me, he greeted me like a long-lost friend, licking my feet and sitting beside me on the spring grass.
It must have been for at least an hour that I petted and talked to this four-legged angel. He let me pour out all my troubles and share my deepest thoughts before he kissed my cheek goodbye. I went back inside feeling happy, knowing that no matter what life may hold, I was loved. Now over 40 years later I still remember that angel with a smile. I believe that God sent him in that moment of sadness to remind me just how much he loved me.
In truth, nothing brings us greater joy than knowing we are loved. Knowing we are loved gives us the strength to love others as well. Knowing we are loved aids us in making Earth more like Heaven. Embrace that love, take joy in it, and then go out and share your own love with the world.

Britain is at its greatest risk of de-industrialisation in modern times. This is because businesses are expected to face new tax increases, and the government fails to provide cheaper energy for manufacturers.
That was the warning from Make UK, a business group for manufacturers — from giants such as BAE Systems to thousands of professional engineering firms. In a statement released before the November 26 budget, it said British industry is at a crossroads. “Britain’s manufacturers are urging the government to use the coming budget to focus only on measures to boost growth. They warn that if business taxes go up further, and if the government still fails to cut energy costs for industry, the UK could end up on a path to major de-industrialisation, “ the organisation said.
It is not the first warning on this theme from Make UK since last year. Earlier it has spoken of the consequences if ministers did not make good on their promise to deliver a modern industrial strategy.
“Businesses are facing two big problems: weak demand both in the UK and other countries, and overall rising costs, ”Stephen Phipson said. He used to be an industrialist and a civil servant, and now he is the head of Make UK. He added, “If we want to get the economy growing again, it will be businesses that make this happen—and this budget must make growth its main focus, ”
He also said that high energy costs presented British industry with “an existential threat”, adding: “Government needs to stop sitting on its hands on the energy support plan [announced in the summer for the largest industrial energy users]and continually kicking the can down the road hoping the problem will resolve itself. “
The manufacturers’ worries have shown up in the latest survey of Make UK’s 20, 000 member companies. More than two-thirds of them are preparing for tax increases, saying that costs have already increased by more than expected in the past six months. Over half said they had been forced to pass those on to their customers through higher prices.
The increase in employers ‘national insurance contributions, and the fear of the government’s employment rights bill, are also having an impact on the industrial workforce: more than half of companies said they have reduced pay increases; nearly a third have instituted pay freezes; and half have frozen employment
63. It can be learned from paragraphs 1~3 that ________.
A. the November 26 budget will put industrial growth at the core
B. Britain faces serious de-industralisation risks from tax and energy plans
C. Make UK mainly represents large manufacturing giants like BAE Systems
D. the UK government has started to fulfil its promise about industrial strategy
64. The phrase ”kicking the can down the road" in paragraph 5 implies that the government ________.
A. keeps postponing decisive action on the announced energy support plan
B. refuses to extend the energy support plan to the small and medium firms
C. dismisses the current energy-support strategy as a temporary adjustment
D. warns of the threat loudly yet delays assigning funds for the very purpose
65. It can be inferred from the passage that British manufacturers ________.
A. will stop investing in new projects unless the budget meets their demands
B. have received substantial financial support from the energy department
C. have adjusted their business strategies to address ongoing pressures
D. consider de-industrialisation an unavoidable outcome for the UK
66. Which of the following is the best title for the passage?
A. Britain’s New Budget to Solve Industrial Energy and Tax Problems
B. The Government’s Industrial Strategy: A Trial for UK Manufacturers
C. Make UK’s Survey Reveals Manufacturers’ More Financial Pressures
D. UK Manufacturers Warn of De-Industrial Risks, Urge Growth Policies

How Could Louvre(卢浮宫)Robbery Have Happened?
In the morning on October the 19th 2025, after thieves broke into the Louvre Museum in broad daylight, making off with 8 pieces of treasures, an embarrassed nation is asking itself a question: How could France let this happen? ____67____ Problems related to funds have actually held back the state-owned museum’s ability to manage massive crowds and ultimately secure some of the world’s most valuable collections of art.
The fact that the break-in occurred at the Louvre Palace,a symbol of France’s cultural might, and encountered little resistance, has French officials questioning not just the Louvre’s defenselessness, but that of cultural sites across the country.Several ministers arranged for a crisis meeting to examine the extent of the security breakdown.Justice Minister Gerald Darmanin expressed, “One thing is certain:it’s that we have failed”. ____68____
The museum staff are placing the blame on years of staffing cuts. The continuous layoffs have left the Louvre with tough choices over where to position a limited number of security guards and cameras. They guard more than 700,000 square feet of exhibition space that contains masterpieces ranging from the Mona Lisa to many ancient statues from Egypt. ____69____ “We were shouting from the rooftops,“Elise Muller,a Louvre security guard and union official said,”We can now see how little we were listened to.”In June, museum staff even mounted a protest over conditions at the museum, saying the crowds were adding stress to the security team in charge of monitoring its collection.
____70____ President Macron intends to construct a new entrance and take pressure off the symbolic glass structure where visitors currently enter the museum and fast-track visits to the Mona Lisa, the Louvre’s main attraction. But critics complain Macron’s plan won’t be finished until 2031 at the earliest.Besides, finding public funds for any repair of the Louvre is going to be a challenge. The longer France struggles to walk out of the financial collapse, the more it chances losing priceless works in robbery that French officials say are increasingly well-organized.
A. The staff have given up making efforts to reverse such a serious situation.
B. In his opinion, the theft succeeded in giving France an unacceptable image.
C. The answer points to its public finances already under great constant stress.
D. Dig into the question, and you’ll uncover the answer hidden behind its works of art.
E. Due to such overload, museum staff repeatedly gave authorities warnings about security threats.
F. An ambitious plan to transform the museum has thus taken shape and is under heated discussion.
IV.Summary Writing (共10分)
Directions: Read the following passage. Summarize the main idea and the main point( s)of the passage in no more than 60 words. Use your own words as far as possible.
FIGHT FAKE INFORMATION
In this day and age, you probably get your information from various websites and social media. Because fake news is spreading and becoming influential in this digital age, it’s important that you don’t take everything you read at face value. The volume of information encountered daily makes it necessary to take an analytical approach to what you read to make sure it is reliable.
Several skills, including critical thinking, which means looking for evidence, logic and context, are important. This skill helps you identify gaps in information and potential mistakes or contradictions. Using search engines, databases and other tools to locate trustworthy sources so you can crosscheck what you are reading is also helpful. They allow you to find, access and use true information.
Make the most of your digital knowledge by using different formats, platforms and media to get and use information. Identifying fake news, propaganda and clickbait falls under this skill.
You also need a strategy to determine whether online content can be trusted. Mike Caulfield, a research scientist at the University of Washington’s Center for an Informed Public, created the SIFT method to do that. This approach helps you analyze and decide if online information is reliable.
Use the SIFT method when you come across something you want to share or use. First, STOP and check your emotional response to the headline or information. Many headlines are designed to get clicks, so they try to stir up a person’s emotions about a topic. Ask yourself what you already know about the topic. Does the source have a good or bad reputation?
Next, INVESTIGATE the source by looking up the author and website creators. Are they credible? Is it one-sided information? What is their goal? Don’t use the site’s “About Us” section to find out; read laterally to see what others say. Check what several other sources, all of which need to be respectable, say about that site to see whether or not you can trust the information.
Then FIND better coverage to see if other sources back up the information or argue about it. Sites like Snopes.com or FactCheck.org, which try to be unbiased, can help you uncover fake news.
The last step is to TRACE claims, quotes and media back to their original text to see if they were represented fairly. Does this information support the original research?
Being able to carefully evaluate information will keep everyone better informed.

71.______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________【答案】71.Generally, critical thinking helps identify incorrect news in the digital era. Besides, SIFT method provided by Mike Caulfield helps judge whether or not online news is worthy of trust. First, stop being fooled by a topic. Then, investigate to make sure the source is dependable. Third, find more evidences. Finally, trace the issue which serves as a crucial step.

【原文】 On this graduation ceremony I’d like to offer my sincere congratulations to you all. Well done, everyone. I’ve got three tips to share with you, hoping to make a direction for the future life after your graduation from college.
Tip one: There are few things that get you over your own crop more than working hard. Do you want to know how to work hard? It’s not difficult. All you have to do is to listen. Listen to what’s going on around you. Learn how the project you are working on fits into the big picture. Learn how you fit in. When you truly understand how the big picture works, you start being able to expect changes and change your behavior.
Tip two: Be kind to everyone. I can’t stress this enough, but it remains true. Kindness will pay back invaluable rewards. Don’t you believe me? I’m sure that at some point you’ll have the opportunity to work for someone who used to be your assistant, or hire someone who used to be your boss.
Tip three: Stay interested. Is there anything you can’t stop thinking about? Keep doing it. Interest is the better part of success. You will be great at the things that you are willing to do.
Remember that you have time to figure out what you want to do. You have time to try again. Just have courage to do it so long as you’re willing to work hard.
Questions:
1. Whom is the speech aimed at?
2. Why does the speaker give the speech?
3. Which of the following is NOT a tip the speaker shares?

D. It prevents people suffering from cancers.
【答案】14. A 15. D 16. D
【解析】
【原文】Left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot … you can travel fast or slow. The movement of your feet gets you where you need to go. But it also gets you so much more! Walking is a basic, simple exercise that’s suitable for almost everyone.
Walking helps you in many ways. First it makes you heart stronger. Studies show regular walking reduces your chance of heart disease. Walking quickly for 30 minutes a day also helps control high blood pressure. It can reduce your chance of developing some cancers, too.
Want to lose weight? You need to burn 600 more calories each day than you eat. Walking is the easiest way. As people age, their brains don’t work as well. One in 14 people over 65 suffers from memory loss. Older people who walk six miles or more per week keep their brains in better shape.
Walking helps your mental health, too. Putting one foot in front of the other isn’t difficult. You don’t have to think about it, so you can concentrate on other things.
You can make walking part of your day. Instead of parking near your house, park a distance away and walk. Instead of taking the elevator, walk. Make walking a habit, and see how it makes you feel.
Questions:
1. What’s the topic of the passage?
2. Why is walking good for people’s mental health?
3. Which of the following is NOT mentioned about walking in the passage?

M: Oh, I’m a little burned out. I’ve been surfing the Net for the last few hours.
W: Were you doing schoolwork, or was it just for pleasure.
M: Well, I wanted to get some information on South America for a project I have, but I found a really interesting chat site with people from there and started chatting.
W: Well, did you get the information you needed?
M: Yes, but then we spent lots of time chatting about other interests.
W: I see. The Internet is a wonderful place. There is so much information available. Sometimes I find myself looking for one piece of information, but by the time I have finished, I have lot of more than I started off looking for.
M: I know. One thing I really don’t like about it, though, it takes so much longer to find things, because many sites are useless.
W: Yes, there is that, and also, I often find the same site over and over again in a search. That definitely wastes lots of my time.
M: And of course, there are sites that offer little to no relevant information on the topic you are searching for. In my search today, I found quite a few sites that were nothing more than old event calendars.
W: Well I’m sure they were useful to someone at some time, but they should be removed when they’re no longer of use to anyone.
M: I agree. With all the time I spend on it, I still find it to be the best source of information available. And speaking of information, I really should read through what I got on the Internet and start working on my subjects.
W: Okay. Good luck. It’s funny we had this chat, as I was just on my way home to surf the Net myself.
M: Well, it was nice talking to you, and maybe I’ll meet you in a chat room later tonight.

(A)
As a boy I was always small for my age.

【答案】63. B 64. A 65. C 66. D

【63题详解】
细节理解题。根据第一段“Britain is at its greatest risk of de-industrialisation in modern times. This is because businesses are expected to face new tax increases, and the government fails to provide cheaper energy for manufacturers.(英国正面临现代以来最大的去工业化风险。这是因为企业预计将面临新的税收增加,而政府未能为制造商提供更便宜的能源。)”以及第二段中的“They warn that if business taxes go up further, and if the government still fails to cut energy costs for industry, the UK could end up on a path to major de-industrialisation,(他们警告说,如果商业税收进一步增加,如果政府仍然未能降低工业能源成本,英国最终可能会走上大规模去工业化的道路)”可知,英国面临着来自税收和能源计划的严重去工业化风险。故选B项。
【64题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第五段中的“Government needs to stop sitting on its hands on the energy support plan [announced in the summer for the largest industrial energy users]and continually kicking the can down the road hoping the problem will resolve itself.(政府需要停止对(今年夏天宣布的针对最大工业能源用户的)能源支持计划袖手旁观,并不断kicking the can down the road,希望问题能自行解决。)”可知,政府不能只是袖手旁观,希望问题自行解决,也就是不能一直拖延对能源支持计划采取决定性行动,所以“kicking the can down the road”意思是“不断推迟对已宣布的能源支持计划采取决定性行动”。故选A项。
【65题详解】
推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“The manufacturers’ worries have shown up in the latest survey of Make UK’s 20, 000 member companies. More than two - thirds of them are preparing for tax increases, saying that costs have already increased by more than expected in the past six months. Over half said they had been forced to pass those on to their customers through higher prices.(制造商的担忧在Make UK对其20,000家会员公司的最新调查中显现出来。超过三分之二的公司正在为增税做准备,称过去六个月成本已经比预期增加得更多。超过一半的公司表示,他们被迫通过提高价格将这些成本转嫁给客户。)”以及最后一段“The increase in employers ‘national insurance contributions, and the fear of the government’s employment rights bill, are also having an impact on the industrial workforce: more than half of companies said they have reduced pay increases; nearly a third have instituted pay freezes; and half have frozen employment.(雇主国民保险缴款的增加,以及对政府就业权利法案的担忧,也对工业劳动力产生了影响:超过一半的公司表示他们已经减少了加薪;近三分之一的公司实行了工资冻结;一半的公司冻结了招聘。)”可推知,英国制造商已经调整了他们的商业策略以应对持续的压力。故选C项。
【66题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段“Britain is at its greatest risk of de-industrialisation in modern times. This is because businesses are expected to face new tax increases, and the government fails to provide cheaper energy for manufacturers.(英国正面临现代以来最大的去工业化风险。这是因为企业预计将面临新的税收增加,而政府未能为制造商提供更便宜的能源。)”以及第二段中的“They warn that if business taxes go up further, and if the government still fails to cut energy costs for industry, the UK could end up on a path to major de-industrialisation,(他们警告说,如果商业税收进一步增加,如果政府仍然未能降低工业能源成本,英国最终可能会走上大规模去工业化的道路。)”

根据上文“an embarrassed nation is asking itself a question: How could France let this happen?(这个尴尬的国家在问自己一个问题:法国怎么会让这种事发生?)”及下文“Problems related to funds have actually held back the state-owned museum’s ability to manage massive crowds and ultimately secure some of the world’s most valuable collections of art.(事实上,资金相关问题已阻碍了这座国有博物馆应对海量游客的能力,最终也影响了其对全球最珍贵艺术藏品的安保工作。)”可知,空格处需承接上文的问题,引出下文的答案。D选项“Dig into the question, and you’ll uncover the answer hidden behind its works of art.(深入探究这个问题,你就会发现隐藏在这些艺术品背后的答案。)”中“Dig into the question”呼应上文的设问,“uncover the answer”引出下文对资金问题的阐述,起到承上启下的过渡作用。故选D项。
【68题详解】
根据上文“Justice Minister Gerald Darmanin expressed, “One thing is certain:it’s that we have failed”.(司法部长热拉尔·达尔马宁表示:“有一点是肯定的:我们失败了”)”可知,空格处需补充司法部长对“失败”的进一步解读。B选项“In his opinion, the theft succeeded in giving France an unacceptable image.(在他看来,这起盗窃案成功地给法国带来了令人无法接受的形象。)”中“In his opinion”衔接上文司法部长的发言,“unacceptable image”是对“失败”的具体阐释,符合官方表态的逻辑,承接自然。故选B项。
【69题详解】
根据上文“They guard more than 700,000 square feet of exhibition space that contains masterpieces ranging from the Mona Lisa to many ancient statues from Egypt.(他们要守卫超过 70 万平方英尺的展览空间,这里藏有从《蒙娜丽莎》到众多埃及古代雕像的各类杰作。)”及下文“We were shouting from the rooftops,“Elise Muller,a Louvre security guard and union official said,”We can now see how little we were listened to.“(“我们当时曾大声疾呼,” 卢浮宫安保人员兼工会官员伊莉斯・米勒表示,“现在才看清,我们的话根本没人听。)”可知,空格处需说明“守卫范围广、任务重”与“工作人员发出警告”之间的因果关系。E选项“Due to such overload, museum staff repeatedly gave authorities warnings about security threats.(由于如此沉重的负担,博物馆工作人员多次向当局发出安全威胁警告。)”中“such overload”指代上文“守卫大面积展览空间、看管大量珍贵文物”的现状,“repeatedly gave authorities warnings”衔接下文“大声疾呼”的表述,逻辑链条完整。故选E项。
【70题详解】
根据下文“President Macron intends to construct a new entrance and take pressure off the symbolic glass structure where visitors currently enter the museum and fast-track visits to the Mona Lisa, the Louvre’s main attraction.(马克龙总统打算建造一个新入口,减轻游客目前进入博物馆的象征性玻璃建筑的压力,并为《蒙娜丽莎》——卢浮宫的主要景点——的参观提供快速通道。)”可知,本段核心是“马克龙总统针对卢浮宫问题推出的改造计划”。F选项“An ambitious plan to transform the museum has thus taken shape and is under heated discussion.(一项雄心勃勃的博物馆改造计划就此成型,并引发了热烈讨论。)”中“transform the museum”对应下文“建造新入口、优化参观流程”等具体措施,“ambitious plan”概括了计划的性质,起到总领全段的作用。故选F项。

___________________________________________________________________
【答案】Whenever he feels happy, he can’t help waving his hands and jumping for joy./He waves his hands and dances with excitement whenever he’s in a good mood.
【详解】考查状语从句、动词短语、形容词和介词短语。句子是描述通常性的行为,时态宜用一般现在时,整个句子可处理为主从复合句,“每当他高兴的时候”可用whenever“每当……的时候”引导时间状语从句,“(他)就会手舞足蹈”为主句;从句主语“他”用代词he,“高兴”可用系动词feel和形容词happy,或系动词is和介词短语in a good mood,构成系表结构;主句隐含的主语“他”用代词he,“会手舞足蹈”可理解为“情不自禁地手舞足蹈”,“情不自禁做某事”可用动词短语can’t help doing,“手舞足蹈”可用动词短语wave his hands and jump for joy,或直接用动词短语wave his hands and dance with excitement表达。故可译为:Whenever he feels happy, he can’t help waving his hands and jumping for joy./He waves his hands and dances with excitement whenever he’s in a good mood.
73. 如果这些数据站得住脚,它将帮助我们认清正在调查的问题。(light) (汉译英)
___________________________________________________________________
【答案】If these data hold up, it will help us throw light on the problem we are investigating.
【详解】考查时态和从句。“如果”表达为if,引导条件状语从句 ;“这些数据”是these data,“站得住脚”表达为hold up,条件状语从句用一般现在时表将来 。“帮助某人做某事”是help sb. do sth;“认清,阐明”表达为throw light on;“正在调查的”用定语从句we are investigating修饰the problem ,主句用一般将来时。故译为If these data hold up, it will help us throw light on the problem we are investigating.
74. 劳动实践不仅能让我们体会劳动价值,还能培养工匠精神,从而助力个人长远发展。(not only) (汉译英)
___________________________________________________________________

Labor practice not only helps us understand the value of work but also develops craftsman’s spirit, supporting our long-term personal growth.
75. 人们习惯了通过社交媒体上的视频了解目的地,这类视频能为自主出行提供实用参考,让他们更有信心地奔赴陌生之地。(research)(汉译英)
___________________________________________________________________
【答案】People have become accustomed to researching travel destinations via social media videos, which provide practical insights into their independent travel and help them feel more confident about exploring unfamiliar places.
为become accustomed to,用于现在完成时,主语为名词复数,所以谓语动词为have become,表示“了解目的地”为research travel destinations,作介词to的宾语,所以使用动名词researching,表示“通过社交媒体上的视频”译为via social media videos作状语,所以主句译为“People have become accustomed to researching travel destinations via social media videos”;后半部分“这类视频能为自主出行提供实用参考,让他们更有信心地奔赴陌生之地”可译为关系代词which引导非限制性定语从句修饰social media videos,描述的是客观事实,所以使用一般现在时,表示“提供”可译为provide,主语which指代的是名词复数,所以谓语动词为provide,表示“为自主出行提供实用参考”可译为为practical insights into their independent travel,其中“insights into...” 为固定结构可知,此处使用省略不定式符号to的不定式结构作宾语补足语,表示“探索不熟悉的地方”为exploring unfamiliar places作宾语,所以从句可译为which provide practical insights into their independent travel and help them feel more confident about exploring unfamiliar places。故翻译为People have become accustomed to researching travel destinations via social media videos, which provide practical insights into their independent travel and help them feel more confident about exploring unfamiliar places.
